The Unraveling is a thriller that will leave you with your jaw on the floor! From the minute I picked up the book I did not want to stop reading. Vi Keeland did an amazing job of keeping the plot of the book completely unpredictable. There were several times I gasped loudly at the unexpected events.
I’ve read every one of Vi Keeland’s books. She is known for her romance writing, and she brings the spice to The Unraveling, but her writing as a thriller author was outstanding! She takes us on a wild ride with Meredith as she “unravels” but you will never guess how it ends!
I suggest going in blind. It just makes the experience that much more amazing! I truly hope Vi writes another thriller. I am here for it!

This book was a quick, easy to read thriller that I loved discussing with Thrillers by the Book Club this month! Per usual, I fell into the minority about it - but as a romance reader in a thriller book club, it’s not that unusual!
And I wouldn’t change it for anything!

It’s hard to put my thoughts on this book into words without giving too much away, but I’ll say this. I enjoyed the ride, the FMC (while making some really awful decisions) didn’t annoy me too much, and I really enjoyed seeing grief and alcoholism play a different role here than in other thriller books in the past (a la The Girl on the Train). If you’re looking for a fast thriller this summer, I think this would be a good fit!

I have loved Vi Keeland’s novels for years and I might be the first to say that every thriller written by a romance author has been a hit. There’s just something about the insidious way romance is used in their thriller plot lines that makes me want to clap, but also has me squirming. Vi Keeland’s The Unraveling is no different, it’s a slow burn thriller with my very favorite type of main character, an unreliable narrator.
We’ve got lies, stalking, ominous footsteps, a too suave man, and a woman on the brink of total mental collapse. Even better? Our MC, Meredith, is a psychiatrist. I swear Vi wrote this for me, because there’s nothing more that I love than a doctor MC that begins to lose it, they drop the plot, and they know better! Meredith even relates with her patients, recognizing the advice she needs to give them is the advice she too needs to take. Further, the line between romance and obsession is so thin here and I think, sadly, that a lot of people set aside what they know they should do, when someone presents as handsome or beautiful and well to do. The classic red flags were waving here, but Meredith was so knee deep in her own wounds to see them. It’s realistic and it’s creepy, and I love it.
I absolutely devoured this book and I hope that Vi gives us more thrillers in the future.

“The Unraveling” is a gripping psychological thriller that dives deep into the dark side of obsession. Meredith McCall, a New York City psychiatrist, is struggling after a huge personal loss. When she runs into Gabriel Wright, a man connected to her past tragedy, she becomes fixated on him. Things get really messy when Gabriel shows up as a patient in her office, seeming like he doesn’t recognize her. Meredith knows it's a bad idea to treat him, but she can't resist, leading her down a dangerous path.
I picked this up because of all the amazing reviews I’ve seen for it, and I’m glad that I did. Keeland's storytelling kept me hooked with plenty of twists and turns. Meredith is a complicated character—she's not exactly likable, but her unraveling is fascinating to watch. Her decisions are questionable and made me wonder about her sanity, which added to the drama.
The book moves at a good pace and keeps the tension high. Some scenes felt over-the-top, and you have to suspend your disbelief at times and go with it. The suspense and unexpected moments made it worth reading. The ending is satisfying, if a bit rushed, but that last chapter surprised me in a good way.
I was able to read and listen to this one, and both narrators did an amazing job bringing the characters and tension to life.
Overall, this is a fun, suspenseful read and a great thriller debut from romance author Vi Keeland. If you enjoy psychological thrillers, this one is worth picking up!

Love Vi Keeland and jumped at the chance to read this book. However, I don't think it was a good writing style and maybe not the best genre pick. It was okay and I did enjoy it some, but it wasn't my favorite and not something I think was memorable per se. Check it out for yourself, you might disagree!

Poorly written You fanfic.

I was going to one star but it was better than that.

Such a binge worth thrillers with a train-wreck of an MC! The grief and self-punishment she puts herself through is astounding. I did struggle with the lack of moral and ethical compass that was broken not once but repeatedly with the acknowledgement that it was wrong…also repeatedly. Overall I think I solid thriller from an author I recently learned has written this book as her debut in this genre. Overall a great start and I’d read others from her in this vein again!

Meredith has been through an unspeakable tragedy, and can’t seem to get her life back on track. She doesn’t feel like she deserves to get her life back. As a result m she often finds herself walking for hours a day through the streets of New York with no purpose to her life. Until one day, she goes into a coffee shop and in walks Gabriel, with whom she shares this unimaginable tragedy. He doesn’t see her-and she can’t believe the fact that he seems to be going on with his life as normal when she can’t move past what’s happened. How can they both have such varying reactions? Is he faking it? She decides to follow him and find out.
Her therapist soon advises her against this and into a healthier routine and next thing she knows Gabriel walks into her office for an appointment. She knows it’s morally and ethically wrong, but since he doesn’t recognize her, she just can’t turn him away…
This story was dark and seductive, secretive and alluring. I had hoped for more thrills, but this was was an entertaining psychological experience.

This book! Go into this one blind! I kept seeing reviews for this one so I decided to give it a try and I’m so glad that I did. This was so an addictive read and I was obsessed with this story about obsession! This is the type of book that once you finished, you immediately wanted to talk to someone about. Vi Keeland, bravo! This book was absolutely amazing! I had to pick my jaw up off the floor once I finished this one!

Very bingable story. I did figure out the twists fairly early on, but it kept me entertained and wanting to see how it unraveled. Very morally grey main character frustrated me at times, but I enjoyed it overall. 3.75 rounded to 4

Brilliant and so very well written. I was mind blown by this book and I loved every page!! This is a must read book.

4.5 Stars
This book wowed me. I’ve been in a slump recently and I love the concept of obsessed/stalker types in thrillers like these. If you like the show You on Netflix you’ll love this book. There are some slower parts near the middle, and I wish we got a little more backstory with the dual timeline within the book, but other than that I could not put this book down. I really really enjoyed the story, I was shocked at the twists at the end and way that last chapter wrapped everything up. I haven’t felt this engaged in a book in a while, and my jaw was on the floor at the end of the book. If you’re a thriller fan I highly recommend and suggest you check this one out! It’s a fast read with short chapters! I cannot wait to pick up more by this author!
Thank you Emily Bestler & Atria for the advanced copy of this book!

Vi Keeland is amazing with her words and writing. This was her first psychological thriller type of book with a dash of spice and nailed it.
I recommend!!

I’m a fan of romance and Psychological Thrillers, so I was excited to read this book, especially since I enjoyed Vi Keeland's Contemporary Romances. It's a shame this book fell short on both counts.
The premise was great. We have a woman who has suffered the loss of a loved one and cannot get over it. Then she sees a man who has suffered the same loss and sees that he's happy. Well, how can that be since she is always so sad? So she begins to stalk him, and then the fun or craziness begins, depending on how you would like to look at it. And this is where things spiral downhill for me.
I didn't connect with either of the Main Characters. Dr. Meredith McCall is a therapist in NYC who seriously needs one herself. She knows that stalking Gabriel is wrong, yet she has been doing it daily for way too long. When Gabriel walks into her office as a new patient, she should have turned him away, but she takes him on, and things get worse.
Now, Gabriel, YIKES, is an English professor at Columbia, and he gave me the ick feeling from the beginning. I don't know what to say about him other than he and Meredith are probably made for one another; they are both a bit loose with their morals.
The book held my attention, even if I didn't like the two main characters very much. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy Psychological Thrillers with some Romance. Always remember, just because it wasn't my favorite doesn't mean it won't be yours.
Happy Reading!!!

This was my very first book by this author, and I will no doubt be devouring everything she writes.
Dr. Meredith McCall has survived tragedy, but she is still trying to get used to her new normal. She struggles with getting back to her practice and the life she's been left with when she comes across Gabriel who also suffered tragedy.
She can't seem to stop following him to figure out how he can smile and move on after suddenly losing his wife and daughter.
Meredith's stalking turns into an obsession when Gabriel shows up out of the blue to be her patient and has no idea who she is from his past.
This book was such a turny, twisty, at times dark and unhinged page turner until the very last page.
Thank you @vi_keeland and @netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Oh my, what an incredible read this was!! I super enjoyed this one, and the title sure is fitting for this story! Our girl Meredith is a mess, and as much anxiety as she gave us both, I was certainly rooting for her in the end. She has experienced an incredible, sudden loss, and we know that there were some consequences for her after what happened, but we don’t know why or to what extent, we just know she is clearly still reeling from them nor is she handling things well.
I was hooked from the start of this one and could not stop listening to the audio, which was excellent. And while I had an inkling of what was going on, I did not know everything, and the ending was still mind blowing and insane! I won’t say any more, I just hope you add this one to your list!

This mystery was… okay? Maybe I would’ve enjoyed this a bit more if I hadn’t read Vi’s other works (her romances) because this “thriller” was lackluster in comparison to the steamy tension and fast-paced romances I’ve read from her before.
The characters in this were all okay, and the main character, although a tad strange, didn’t bother me very much. Really, nothing about the story was bad and maybe if you haven’t read many other thrillers before you’d find the twist in this surprising and fun, but for someone who’s read several inventive, twisty mystery thrillers, this was just okay. For a first for foray into a new genre it was not bad, but I do think that Vi can (and hopefully will) write better mysteries in the future. I am curious to see what she can do in the genre when she gets the hang of it!

Meredith is a pyscharist in New York City, who is deeply in love with her hockey playing husband. In the last two years, he got hurt, addicted to pain killers, and accidently killed himself along with a mother and child. Meredith and her life begins to unravel.
I enjoyed the twist and turns of this book. The Unraveling is very much about obsession and what happens because of it. Meredith begins to follow people around the city and we soon find out what happens becasue of the obsessions. I had no idea what was going to happen throughout the book and I audibly gasped at the ending. The ending definitely bumped my rating up to a solid 4.
Thank you Vi Keeland, Artia, and NetGalley for an ARC of The Unraveling in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fast paced, entertaining thriller with a smidge of spice, that I flew through in one sitting. A mix of the Silent Patient and You. The main character reminds me a lot of Kaley Cuoco from the Flight Attendant. I found some of the story repetitive and totally unrealistic, but overall I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys a twisty thriller. I’ll be thinking about the epilogue for days.
Thank you to Net Galley and Atria for the ARC!

This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up. I enjoy their writing style as well as their attention to details that make the story come to life on every page. I found this book to be well written with twists and turns that you won't see coming. I enjoyed watching the growth of this story which made it easy and hard to put down story. The characters are relatable and add so much to the story. They pull you into their world of twists and turns. This is a fast paced, engaging story that you don't want to miss. This is a must read story for sure. Loved it! I highly recommend this book and look forward to seeing what is next for this author.
