I initially had a little trouble getting into the writing style but once I settled in, I was entertained. It lagged a bit in the middle but that last chapter was fire! All but 1 person in my book club absolutely loves that final twist!

What a great ride! Plenty of twists, turns and intrigue. I never fully trusted what I read to be the whole truth, and I had my suspicions, but there was one part at the very end that I didn’t expect. Vi did a wonderful job with this book and hope she continues writing in this genre.

If you like psychological thrillers, pick this one up asap. It perfectly scratched that itch for me. Something tragic happens to Meredith. Over 1 year later, she sees a man who was also affected by the same tragedy, except somehow he seems OK while her life is in shambles. She becomes obsessed with him.

The less you know going into this book, the better. I was hooked from the beginning and flew through it. The only reason it's not 5 stars is I started rolling my eyes at the main character about 2/3 of the way through. I thought the ending was well done though.

Actual Rating 2.5

This is one of those reads that is much better if you don’t think about things too much, especially not how gullible and naïve our protagonist is in several instances. Meredith is not a likeable protagonist, but I didn’t find her to be the kind of unlikeable that I enjoy. She started off decent, but by the end it was hard not to roll my eyes and think “well what did you expect?”

The book fell a bit short with how obsessive Meredith was supposed to be. There was creepiness and/or sinister feelings lacking with that aspect that was a little disappointing. And instead, it turned into a more alcohol-fueled thing, which felt like a cheap way out. Not to mention the long bouts of Meredith’s other day-to-day life certainly decreased the tension and drug out everything much longer than necessary. And then the way the author wrote the “relationship” aspect wasn’t as dark or suspenseful as it should have been and felt more gratuitous than anything, which decreased the tension overall (not that there was much tension by that point).

If you’re looking for a slower psychological suspense then you’ll probably enjoy this one. My thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for allowing me to read this work. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Wow! This is hands down the best psychological thriller I’ve read this year! This has is it all from obsession to spice. The ending had my jaw on the floor! I loved the writing style and how short the chapters were, making this a very bingable read! Short synopsis: Actually, not going to give you one. Go into this one blind, you’ll thank me for it.

My thoughts: I’ve had multiple friends rave over this psychological thriller and for good reason. Compelling and completely bingeable with short chapters that will keep you flipping pages long after your bedtime.

This one had me gasping out loud multiple times because of the twists that came out of no where, which is my favorite type of thriller.

I absolutely loved that the MC was a psychiatrist, I think her medical knowledge of mental health was such a great added bonus to the story.

Read if you love:
- The YOU series (Joe Goldberg)
- Twists and secrets
- Fast paced thrillers
- Psychological thrillers featuring psychiatrists

🤯 What did I just read? I did NOT see any of the twists at the end coming. When I finished I just stared at the wall for a moment my mind was still spinning. This immediately hooked me and didn’t let go until I finished. I was reading every single moment I could because I was addicted and had to know what was going to happen. Cannot recommend this enough, the ending will blow your mind.

The Unraveling by Vi Keeland
This book was amazing! It's giving You vibes from Netflix, second season! The book is written in 1st person and jumps from the past to present. The author wrote it so well that I didn't get annoyed jumping back to the past. The timeline was impeccable. Meredith is that main character of the story and her husband is involved in a deadly car accident killing himself and 2 pedestrians. Meredith is left widow and so is Gabrielle who was the husband & father of the victims.

The author allows you to get inside the heads of these two characters as they cross paths and somehow become infatuated with each other. The psychological impact this story had on my mind was intense. I was contemplating between what's right and wrong and lot while reading this. To me this is the best way a psychological book should make an individual feel. It's supposed to mess with your head and make you think really hard about the situation at hand.

The ending of this book was fantastic! | WANT A SEQUEL!!
Congratulations to the author! I know this book is gonna do great! 👏🏽 thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this
arc! It's out now so go read it!!!

I only know Vi Keeland for her romance books, but this? Oh my god! This woman NEEDS to write more thriller! Immediately!
The Unraveling is about grief and what it can do to a person, and it was absolutely amazing. I literally FLEW through this story, couldn't stop reading, and when I was done, I looked up and discovered that the house was dark, I was hungry, needed to pee and everyone had gone to bed. Oh well, I guess that's what a good story does to you...

The writing was good and the story does have some interesting aspects, but this type of story just isn’t my thing. Not into the ending, or the particulars of the story. I didn’t really care for any of the characters or their motivations. I think if the ending were a bit different; it’s a bit lackluster and vague, then maybe I would have liked this better. I’m going in the middle with the rating. I’m thinking readers who like books like Gone Girl will like this; this read isn’t as out there as Gone Girl, but the tone is similar. That reader isn’t me.

Vi Keeland, did an such an amazing job in pulling you into this web of obsession, I couldn't put it down. Dr. Meredith McCall Fitzgerald, a psychiatrist, is obsessed...obsessed with a patient, Gabriel Wright. Their connection was not what I expected and with every twist and turn, I was thrown deeper into the unknown. Despite thinking I figured out the end, I was thrown for one last epic twist.

I'd love to give an in depth review, but without giving spoilers, I just can't. All I can say is pay attention while everything unravels to the end.

I received this ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

If you are looking for a book with some sizzling romance to make you blush and want to mix it with a psychological thriller, then The Unraveling by Vi Keeland is for you.

Is it wrong to take on a client, as a therapist, who is connected to the death of your husband? What if that client is someone you are attracted to and can't turn away? What if you are both widows because of the same car accident and will be forever connected in some way?

The second half of the book was hard to put down. It was a slower start for me. I think I don't enjoy therapist books as much, for some reason, but the set up was important to the story. Actually, my favorite character in the book was the therapist's assistant. She seemed like a good person and friend. I can't say the same for the two main characters. And yet, I still cheered them on.

I gave this book four out of five stars. If you would like to see the book trailer, you can see it here: https://youtu.be/3AzByhLCFKo?si=lH6avLVUrZXSnS7f.

Thank you to NetGalley, Atria Books, and Vi Kleeland for my free copy. This is my honest review.

“The Unraveling” is a psychological thriller which had me hooked from the very beginning. I could not put this book down and finished it in a day and a half! Meredith McCall is a psychiatrist in New York City who has suffered a profound loss. She develops a dangerous obsession with a man named Gabriel Wright and the story continues from there. There are many twists and turns in this thriller. Parts of the story were slightly predictable but other parts I did not see coming. The end kind of leaves you wondering what actually happened! I don’t want to give too much away because the fun of the thriller is just sitting down with the book and devouring it!

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

WOW!! What in the world did I just read?! Omg!! This kept me on my toes.

I beg you to go in to this book blind! All you need to know, is Meredith is a psychiatrist working in New York. Her new client is somebody she knows and soon becomes obsessed with. That’s all I’m giving you!!

This was a fast paced, highly entertaining, and really intense psychological thriller. I loved every single minute of this book. This book left my jaw on the floor! It’s one of those that will have you thinking about it for a long time after you’ve read it. I can’t wait to read what’s next from Vi Keeland!

Meredith is trying to deal with the grief of losing her husband , Cam, and the cascade of issues that stem from his passing. When she sees Gabriel, a man directly impacted by Cam, she can not figure out how he can appear happy. And when he walks into her therapy practice as a patient, she knows she should explain who she is, but instead she takes him on and eventually starts to fall for him.

Some of the twists were a little predictable, but one of the bigger ones caught me off guard. I wish what Cam did was revealed earlier since it felt both pretty obvious, and like a huge buildup. That said I really enjoyed the story and read it in entirety on a flight. I would absolutely read more by this author.

Thank you NetGalley for an arc of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Wowowowow I loved this. Completely unputdownable, thrilling AF, with an absolute nutjob of a female main character that you can't help but root for. And spicy to boot!

I FLEW through this one and the ending totally threw me. All the stars to this one, I hope Vi Keeland continues to write thrillers, because she's damn good at it.

I'm thinking I need to read her romance backlist ASAP!
