As a long time reader and fan of Vi Keeland, I was excited to read her first thriller. I did enjoy the book; it was suspenseful and an emotional rollercoaster. My biggest issue with this book was the main character, Meredith. In the first part of her life, she's an accomplished professional, happy and in love but as tragic events occur, she turns into the biggest doormat to her injured and abusive husband. This abuse goes on for a while and she cannot seem to find her backbone. After even more tragedy we jump ahead to the present, and Meredith has become an unethical psychiatrist, alcoholic stalker who seems to be losing her mind! I just could not relate to her as a character, she was weak and made some of the dumbest choices.
This book was fast paced, and I liked the ending as Meredith finally gets it together and assumes responsibility for her unethical behavior and starts to live a new life. Here and there are little nuggets you have to keep in the back of your mind that mean something once you get to the shocking ending. I was not expecting it. I had to reread it to make sure I understood what the author was implying and it's just horrific. 😮
Overall, it was a good read, and I would definitely pick up another Vi Keeland suspense!
Thank you to NetGalley.
The Unraveling creeped me out and the ending will leave you unable to sleep! Highly recommend and will purchase for my libraries.
Thanks to Netgalley for this ARC. This took me a while to get through because of life things and other wise but this is my honest my review. We are following our FMC and it’s written as if the fmc is talking to her dead husband I assume. There’s past and present timelines. Meredith is a psychiatrist and throughout the book it seems she has an obsession with this one guy Gabriel and it goes on a downward spiral as she gets tangled up more and more in his life and she hits rock bottom. Really hated Meredith’s husband Connor.. I really enjoyed the present timeline more than the past even though there were twists in both all the same throughout the story. Meredith and Gabriel are both dealing with grief and it seems to me as if Meredith is jealous of Gabriel, seeing him “happy” and moving on as she says. There’s some spicy moments and I do like the fact a bit that Meredith slowly seems like she’s losing her mind throughout. This was pretty good and I would recommend to some people, not my fave though.

Can’t say too much about this one.
Meredith is a very unethical and unlikable psychiatrist. I felt a little bit bad for her at first, but I couldn’t even root for her with all the dumb choices she made over and over and over again. Her excessive drinking doesn’t help matters one bit. On that note ~ she must have the tiniest wine glasses ever if she’s getting 4 full to the brim glasses per bottle, with still a little left for the next night.
Overall, I will say I was pleased with the main conclusion, but I find it highly implausible that there aren’t a bazillion cameras in NYC. Also, I really enjoyed that last chapter from Gabriel’s POV.
I have read a few of this author’s books in the romance genre. I found her debut thriller engaging enough that I would give another one a whirl.
Summer is in full swing in our house! That means lots of time in the sun and a lot of extra reading time for me! ❤
I recently finished The Unraveling by Vi Keeland and WOAH. This book is crazy! if you are a fan of psychological thrillers and unreliable narrators, this one is for you. The main character is a psychiatrist (as a counselor I always love mental health professionals as the MC) and she is a hot mess. She makes some hugely unethical choices, but I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out how it would all come together. She becomes obsessed with a client and it is a wild ride. Definitely recommend!

Many thanks to #netgalley and @atriabooks for the copy!
Just wow! I genuinely cannot express how much this book has amazed me! I was totally unprepared for this! This was such an intriguing, captivating, and addictive book to read!
Following a tragedy, psychiatrist Meredith McCall in New York City struggles with her own doubts. She crosses paths with Gabriel Wright, a person she knows has been hurt and is linked to her past. But why doesn't it seem like he's having problems like she does? Why are these two connected, and what actually happened?
This is a rather dark, intense and absolutely mind-blowing story with unexpected turns! Because of its unreliable narrator, it kind of reminded me of Girl on the Train. We get to know the characters more as the novel shifts from the past to the present. My attention was captivated by it from the start and it never let up. I was completely captivated until the very end thanks to unexpected plot twists and turns.
And I really enjoyed how the book ended! The psychological mind twist with its twists and turns are amazing! And the final sentence... I actually let out a gasp! Oh my goosh!! I'm not usually left stunned by a thriller but Vi Keeland managed to shocked me with her book.
I would definitely like to read more of Vi Keeland's thrillers! This one is a five-star read for me!
I hate to say this but I could not finish this book. I got 75% in and was so disgusted with the main character that I decided to cut my losses and quit. She is a psychiatrist who is pretty messed up, I say quit your practice, don't sleep with your patients. I tried to be empathetic but she just went way too far.
Holy wow…what an amazing, intriguing and entertaining read. This book will grab your attention from the beginning and you will want to binge read until the end.
Meredith has been through a tragedy, has secrets and is struggling to her life back on track. She really wants to get back to her Psychology practice but she’s not ready…she’s seeing a psychologist herself. Her life is unraveling, she’s making very poor decisions and is struggling to get it together. She’s a very complicated character.
Gabriel also has his own secrets and trauma he’s dealing with. As his character development through the book…you will be surprised by the twists and turns.
This is a page turning read full of twists, turns and a surprising ending. I had to go back and re-read the last couple of pages.
Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for the advanced reading copy.

4:26am is when I woke up thinking about this book-3/4 of the way in, and I just had to finish it.
The plot is very shadowy, gripping from the first page. The main character seems fixated on a man she follows all day and night in a bizarre daze. She’s unhinged and obsessed.
This one is a fast paced, intriguing domestic thriller that gave me a The Woman in the Window vibes but better. If you like books that have you asking, “wait, what did I just read?”, this one is for you.

This book was a wild ride. Given two different timelines, it takes us on a path of an obsessed woman who is stalking the widow of the woman that her husband killed in an accident. Things turn sinister as times goes on.
I really enjoyed this book. I felt like I knew where it was going…until I didn’t!
This is a book that kept me on the edge of my seat and turning page after page. There were so many opportunities I wanted to yell at the character “Noooooo”! Vi Keeland will be an author I watch for in the future as this was the first of her books that I have read. It is expected to be released on July 9 and it is perfect for your summer reading list.

Wow! This was so good! This is my first book by Vi Keeland and it was a page turner! I could not put it down! There were lots of twists and turns and the ending was not what I expected! I will definitely be reading more of her books! Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC copy!
Ohmygodnessssss!! That last line 🤯. I mean I had my suspicions but I wanted to be wrong about it😫.
ViK Keeland is an author I’ve been reading throughout the years- Hate Notes and The Invitation are books I always recommend 📖✨. After learning she was writing a thriller I was eager about it - so you can imagine my happiness when I receive an early copy of it.
Meredith is a psychiatrist who’s trying to move on after a tragic event in her life that affected others. After crossing paths with a man (Gabriel) who she shared that tragic connection with- she started stalking him because she can’t believe he has found happiness again…
The problem is that one day Gabriel walks in her office as a patient… so you can imagine all the events that’ll happen.
What can I say… first of all: WOOOW 😳. I was losing my mind reading this book- I thought I was losing my mind like Meredith. Because who can possibly find happiness after such tragic loss, right? Well, I can’t share much of it because I’m giving spoilers and if something I learned about The Unraveling is that you need to be caught off guard.
I really really wanted that my suspicions weren’t right, because gosh! I was waiting for the last twist and it didn’t disappoint me 😮💨.
If you love emotional thrillers that it’ll make you lose your mind- The Unraveling is for you 😚.
Thank you NetGalley, Vi Keeland and the publisher for providing me an early copy🫶🏽💋.
My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: Psychological thriller
Spice: 🔥🔥
Synopsis: Two families are shattered by one horrific accident. A later chance encounter leads to a dangerous game of cat and mouse, but who is the cat and who is the mouse?
Thoughts: I’ve read many of Vi Keeland’s romance books and I’m a fan. When I saw she had a debut thriller, I knew I had to read it! This book is dark. It’s suspenseful. It’s fast-paced and keeps you guessing until the very last jaw dropping sentence. It definitely give of “You” vibes!
Huge thanks to Atria/Emily Bestler Books and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
When grieving widow Meredith realizes her newest patient, Gabriel Wright, is the man whose wife and daughter were killed by Meredith's own dead husband, the lines between psychiatrist and patient rapidly become blurred.
I requested this book after seeing a ton of rave advanced reviews and finding the premise very intriguing. The pace was quick but tense, and I knew there was something satisfying coming. I did find the twists quite predictable until the very ending, though without giving anything away, I had my suspicions about *that* as well. I don't necessarily require a big twist to enjoy a thriller, as long as I'm entertained, and I was certainly not let down there. The ending did leave me with more questions than answers and I am uncertain if it was meant to leave me wondering about some things, or if there were in fact some plot holes. I was initially critical of the very questionable actions of the main character, but I do believe it's realistic for there to be highly dysfunctional folks in professional roles all the time, particularly after experiencing trauma, so I decided to let this go. Overall, this was a very entertaining and well-paced read, with a plot that many will find quite twisty and turny and I recommend it.
4/5⭐
WOW! That a ride! Vi Keeland has turned up the heat and throw in more than one twist in The Unraveling. The story has a good pace. Dark, delicious and duo timelines kept me wanting to keep turning the pages. Just one more chapter is what I told myself into the wee hours of the morning. It felt like a classic "who done it." But something just wasn't adding up!
New York City psychiatrist Meredith McCall can't help herself from her obsession - Gabriel Wright. She feels she must try to right the wrongs committed against him. Her choices have her life and career unraveling. Suspense and sex are a dangerous combination. And the last sentence of the book with leave you swearing!
What a ride!!!! A must read! I look forward to the next thriller from Vi Keeland!
