I was excited to get my hands on this one as I adore the author. I loved that the author is delving into other genres and making it her own. This book held my attention and I really enjoyed the flow and concept of the book.

This book was unexpected. It involves obsession, not being able to move on. She takes stalking to a whole other level. Roaming the streets endlessly. Unexpecting finding the person she was not expected to see and then stalking. the ending was very surpising.

Fast pace, page turner that will grab your attention from the very first sentence. I couldn’t read fast enough to get to the bottom of it all, and that last chapter?! Well you should read it to find out for yourself.

This book will be appealing to readers looking for psychological thriller full of suspense, mystery, stalking, obsession, forbidden attraction and unexpected twists.

📝: “We’ve never met formally anyway. We just went through hell together, several rooms apart. You in one room. His wife & child in another.”

“The memory of his face isn’t something I could ever forget.”

What happens when two people with a catastrophic connection “cross paths?”

“He’s angry. Probably needs therapy. Most of us do…Myself especially.”

But when Meredith sees Gabriel at a local coffee shop he seems anything but sad—he’s smiling, laughing; happy. Didn’t this man lose his entire world only months ago?

So she follows him; learns his routine. She can barely function while he goes on lunch dates with young blonde women? People experience grief in all types of ways but this is uncanny.

“I guess I just can’t believe he’s really moved on. So I went back to look for the cracks in the mask he wears.”

Luckily Dr. Meredith McCall uses her maiden name for her career as a Psychiatrist. Otherwise EVERYONE would’ve known she’s Professional Hockey Player Connor Fitzgerald’s wife both when he was famous AND after what he did.

But when Gabriel Wright walks into her office she’s speechless. She’s not only riddled with guilt but unexpectedly attracted to him. She wants to help him & also jump his bones.

How can he not recognize her…or if he does what kind of game is he playing? Is he trying to punish her by recounting that tragic night over & over?

“When the tip of his tongue peeks out & glides along his bottom lip, I feel it EVERYWHERE.”

But WHEN(not IF)they cross the line what kind of hell will there be to pay?

“I’m a little afraid of myself & what I’m capable of.”

SO MANY shocking twists & turns I never saw coming: Sexy, devastating, frightening & most importantly CONSUMING. I binged this in 24h. If you read 1 thriller in 2025, let it be this one!

💭: Have you ever sought out therapy & did it help?
🙋🏻‍♀️: Yes & Yes!

Wow!! What a read 👏

This is one of those psychological thrillers with twists. You know that they are there, but they are hard to pick and you don't even understand what they mean half the time.

It took me less than 2 days to read this and after reading that last chapter, I am just blindsided by the ending!! What did I read and how did I not see that coming 😳

4 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Special thanks to Netgalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Thank you for the ARC. All opinions are my own. Interesting premise, but I think it was marketed incorrectly. 5 stars for a DNF as I cannot comment on the overall quality of the book.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book. This is my first book by Vi Keeland and will definitely not be my last.

The premise of a psychiatrist becoming obsessed with a patient was intriguing and I could not put this book down once I started. There were so many twists throughout the book that I did not see coming. It held my interest from the very first page and I was anxious to see how the psychiatrist and her patient were connected.

I look forward to reading Keeland's next book.

There were so many times I thought I knew what was going on, and I got some parts right. But everything else? I truly did not see those twists and turns coming.

I’m not usually one for thrillers, but this was so good. It kept my attention the whole time as I tried to figure what was going on. There was some spice, but this is not a romantic story at all.

I finished this a few days ago, and I am still thinking about the ending. Meredith's life was turned upside down and all of her decisions do not make sense. Sometimes I was like "what are you thinking?!" The ways her life intertwined with Gabriel's was crazy and I was invested from the beginning.

The Unraveling by Vi Keeland was a solid story with a crazy good premise. This obsession based thriller was one I thought would be something that feels like I've read many times over, but it wasn't. It was fresh, sexy and one you can't look away from. Quick read. Good pick for vacay!

Full review to come.

Thank you so much @AtriaBooks for giving me this ARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased review (Release Date | 09 July 2024)

SYNOPSIS | Meredith is a successful psychiatrist married to a pro-hockey player (Connor) until a game injury starts a spiral of events leading to his death. Amidst her grief she finds a connection with someone experiencing a similar tragedy (Gabriel). This starts out innocently enough but soon turns into something more especially when he shows up at her office as a new patient.

WHAT I LIKED:
- like a train wreck you can't help gawking at
- the fact I didn't trust a single character including the unreliable narrator
- short chapters, messy plot and a general feeling of impending doom made this such a bingeable read (gorged it within 24 hours)
- a solid first foray into the thriller / romantic suspense genre & I'll definitely be picking up more by this author!

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:
- the ending was resolved a tad too easily

I REALLY enjoyed this book!! I love unreliable narrators and all the twist and turns that Keeland took us on!!
This was such a fun thriller that I could predict at all times like you can with so many these days!

This book was kind of like watching a car accident. You know what they are doing on the page is wrong, but you can't stop flipping the page to see how it unravels. A lot of this book deals with a therapist who is toeing the ethical line with one of her clients. I was hooked and wanted to see how this played out, but I was also kinda given the ick by Meredith's actions. But despite that, I didn't see the plot twists coming and that kept me engaged the whole way through. I've loved Vi Keeland's romance reads and I will definitely be picking up her next thriller as well!

Thanks to the publisher for the ARC in return for an honest review.

This was a fun fast paced twisty thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. I thought the over the top story was fun and really enjoyed the premise. The writing was easy to understand and entertaining. This is my first book by this author but will not be my last. I would like to thank NetGalley and the publishers for a chance to read this book for an honest review.

Dr. Meredith McCall has an obsession. As obsessions usually go, this one is unhealthy. And unusual. With her career is on the line as a result of tragic events, Meredith has been spiraling downward. Gabriel Wright is the object of Meredith’s obsession, and the choices and actions she takes become worse and worse.

With her license having been revoked for a year, one might expect that someone of her profession would be quite careful in the decisions they make. However, even though she is receiving psychiatric treatment herself, she cannot let go of the obsession she has with Gabriel Wright.

The pacing in this book was off the charts! With then and now chapters, including an utterly tragic and heartbreaking event, I was thoroughly glued to the pages of this book. Should I mention the twists? Yes, the twists! They just kept on coming. And…the ending. I had to go back and reread it. Twice.

Many thanks to Atria Books and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

I did not like this one. It was boring and the writing was very juvenile. I felt like it copied and pasted every other book like this and had no original idea.

Thank you to NetGalley & Atria books for this advance copy of The Unraveling by Vi Keeland in exchange for this honest review. The Unraveling is available now for purchase!

This one was very quick and fast paced! One of my favorite twists is *I'll mark this as a spoiler just in case* the possibility that your narrator isn't who she says she is or is unreliable in some way. I loved following Meredith's spiral especially with the whole doctor/patient relationship. This one clocks in at the perfect length, any longer and it would've felt a bit repetitive. I would definitely read more from this author in the future, I enjoyed her writing style!

Thank you again to NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC in exchange for this honest review. The Unraveling is available now!
