Synopsis: Meredith is a NYC psychiatrist who experienced terrible loss and is struggling to find happiness again. When she runs into someone from her past, her life begins to unravel just a little bit more.

You know a book is a win when you can binge it in one sitting and ignore all outside distractions, and from the start, I was sucked into this story. The twists and turns were unexpected, and I loved how Keeland added romance, drama and a little bit of hockey. The therapy conversations were some of my favorite parts as the session felt realistic and it was easy to see the grief/ emotions Meredith was going through. And the ending. I reread that last chapter several times with my mouth wide open.

Read if you like:
-Now/then chapters
-Psych thriller and romance blend
-Short chapters
-NYC setting
-Colleen Hoover

Thank you to Atria for an advanced copy.

One moment please, while I pick my jaw up off the floor!
Don’t you love a thriller that that makes you gasp (more than once). Then explosively ends with an epic mike drop! This gem of a read has all that and more!

Meredith is a psychiatrist working in New York. She was living the charmed life until a series of events left her…unraveling!

When a new client walks into her office she realizes she knows him! And there is positively no way she should be treating him. This particular client could cost her everything!
But Meredith just can't say no!

And that’s all you’ll pry out of me! GO IN BLIND! Seriously! I know I say that often, but the fact that I used bold and all caps makes it official!

I’ll say it again…the less you know the better!

With such glowing positive reviews for this book I developed a raging case of FOMO. I knew I had to read it! Yes! It absolutely lives up to the hype!

This author is known for her romance novels, so yes, it is spicy🌶️. I would almost be so bold as to say it’s an erotic thriller!?💁🏻♀️

This was my first read by this author and though I likely won’t be picking up her straight-up romance novels, I will absolutely be watching for her next thriller!

One of my top thrillers for 2024!

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books

I’m not really sure what got “unraveled” in this novel. Of course, our leading lady was “unraveled” by her husband’s behavior and death, but like so much of this book featuring 3 looney tunes, the characters who became “unraveled” by the major event, simply turned the page at the end of the novel and instantly became someone totally different – and joyful.

The mystery and the intensity was excellent and led to the conclusion and then … bam! Suddenly the fairy godmother must have waved her magic wand and all lived happily ever after. The non-conclusion was a real let down.

I appreciate the ARC from NetGalley and publisher, Atria, in exchange for an honest review.

Longtime reader & lover of Vi Keeland’s books. So when I heard she was writing a thriller I was excited. And honestly, this book!! I’m still trying to process what I just read!! Totally the kind of thriller I like with a twist I didn’t see coming & I was left with the feeling of what did I just read??

It’s a book about Meredith McCall and Gabriel Wright…

The psychiatrist and the man she shares a tragic connection with…

He then becomes her patient…

Crossing professional and personal boundaries…

Obsessed, consumed, infatuated…

Her life and career are unraveling…

Absolutely everything is unraveling!

Wheeeeeeew what a wild ride!!!! I absolutely devoured this book. If you know me, you know I like my thrillers fast-paced and twisty and this hit all the spots. Honestly just don’t even read the synopsis and go in blind like I do — this psychological thriller is unputdownable and you’ll be saying “whaaaat” multiple times as you read. It’s under 300 pages, and clearly written by an author who knows what she’s doing. Did you watch YOU? This is for you. Love books with obsession and stalking and secrets and twists? This is for you. Add it to your beach bag immediately. You’re welcome.

Meredith McCall is spiraling… Or is she?

The Unraveling by Vi Keeland is a psychological ride full of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. The tragic connections and unhealthy behaviors combined with a healthy dose of paranoia had me on edge the entire time I was reading. The pacing was on point and I went through a myriad of emotions with Meredith. It is difficult to go into more detail without spoiling the book, so I will just stop here and say that I hope we get more thrillers from this author. She did an impressive job with this first one.

I received this in the mail yesterday from the publisher and immediately started it. I then abandoned all the books on my TBR to finish it. This book hooks you from the first page and won’t let go until that explosive ending. The short chapters and creepy and intense atmosphere push you to keep reading.

This book is dark, and a rollercoaster of a ride. Just when you think you have it all figured out at the end, NOPE, you didn’t. That ending!!!! 🤯

This book was thoroughly unhinged, and I LOVED IT!

Vi Keeland is a great author. All of her books are enjoyable reads. This book does not disappoint! I loved it!

What can I say, these characters were top tier shady and unreliable, and following their antics and trying to guess where the story was headed was an utterly addictive reading experience and the best type of guilty pleasure thriller.

Ms. Keeland kept the tension high and had me flying thru the pages with alternating past and present chapters and a story that flowed seamlessly. I was on the hook with this one from the first page and didn't even want to try and escape.

The Unraveling is a psychological thriller full of twists, suspicious characters, and crazy drama that had me frequently changing my mind about what was going on and who was responsible. This is a perfect beach read for readers who like their suspense a little wild and unhinged!

Thank you to Atria Books and Netgalley for providing me with an early copy of this book to read and review.

I love when authors delve into different genres! I love Vi Keeland's romance books so I was super excited when I saw that she wrote a psychological thriller. This one grabbed me from the very beginning. It will keep you guessing just what in the heck is going on. I can't wait for another thriller by Vi!

4-4.5 stars

100% compulsive read. I devoured this in about 24 hrs. If you have adulting to do, don't start this book, because you won't be able to put this down. Guaranteed to make you stay up past your bedtime!

Meredith's life has been turned upside down. A tragedy that took lives, one that she shoulders the blame for (justly or not,) has her depressed, lonely, and spiraling. When she happens to glimpse a man outside a coffee shop, who's life was also touched by this tragedy, and he is laughing and appears to be coping she seemingly, innocently, follows him to see if it's real. She needs to know if he is indeed coping and moving on from his grief. This turns into stalking and ultimately unravels into this crazy story of obsession, lust, grief, guilt, binge drinking (lol) and murder.

There are a lot of red flags here but Meredith is just so thrown, I have to believe that's what causes a believed to be intelligent woman to make so many bad choices. It was kind of like a car crash, watching her just blow through stop sign after stop sign in pursuit of the truth and her feeling something other than grief. And boy, can this girl put away the wine! Someone check her liver cause I think it's on it's last leg, hahaha.

All jokes aside, even with the poor decision making skills of our main character, I couldn't stop reading. My heart went out to this poor woman but I also wanted to slap some sense into her. The ending was nuts and definitely leaves the reader dangling with questions and wanting more, but that's what a good psychological thriller does. I recommend and look forward to this writer hopefully writing more in this genre. For fans of A.R. Torre, Colleen Hoover's Verity, and Ashley Elston.

Thank you to Atria- Emily Bestler Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this eARC!

Wow what a ride this domestic thriller was! I have heard of Vi Keeland before, but had never read one of her books. I was instantly pulled into the plot and couldn't put this one down. I read the majority of this in bed sick on a rainy day, which was perfection. Reading the events through Meredith's perspective added to the feelings of instability and chaos that swirled throughout the plot. I was constantly second guessing who she could trust and who was actually telling the truth as things got crazier and crazier. I did find the plot to get a little far fetched at times which had me hovering around 3 stars, however the final chapter sealed 4 stars for me and honestly ratcheted up the tension 100 times more. I would suggest this for fans of domestic thrillers, whirlwind plots and constant tension. A solid thriller and a great beach read- easy to pick up and get lost in!

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The story was intriguing and a fast page- turner, I finished it in 1- 2 days on my commute. It wasn't a particularly complex story, but I thought the characters were well- developed and the sex scenes were hot.

And there's the last page- the ending!! I want a sequel.

Holy Mind F#$%#$!

What started out as drama and sadness took a really dark and twisted turn! The scary (or best?) part is that it continued until the very last page. So much so that I needed a day to process before I wrote my review!

Lets talk about the main character...Meredith. Honestly, I didn't like her at first. I get that she suffered a tragedy but the self-loathing was a little much for me. I couldn't tell if it was guilt, pain from loss or just her "empathy" for everyone else involved. But when she started getting a little stronger, I felt a little more remorse for her. I realize this is just a personal pet peeve for me...I don't do well with self-doubting women.

Now Gabriel...This man is something of an enigma. You spend the whole book trying to figure out what his angle is. I will not say any more than that. I do think I needed more of a transition from Gabriel the patient to Gabriel not the patient but I got over it.

I really can't say anything more because I hate spoilers. It has been quite awhile since I read a Vi Keeland novel and I must say, I still enjoy her style!

It looks like I’m really in the minority looking at the current ratings and reviews, but I would say 2.5-3⭐️…it seemed like absolutely nothing was happening for a large majority of the book. It started off really intriguing to me and then when it was revealed what the main character was obsessing over, it just did not seem to fit the storyline. It did not seem like a thriller until the last 25-30% of the book, the premise was good but it just really missed the mark for me. I felt the ending twist was predictable and the ending was just confusing. There was no connection to the characters & the female main character was just so bothersome to me, it made it so hard to want to continue reading. Thank you Net Galley for the advanced copy in return for an honest review.

Oh my, let me start by saying this was my first thriller! And I didn’t knew what I was getting myself into! But this was the perfect book to start a genre with. Vi Keeland made me get into thrillers, guys! She did it! She convinced me that I would love a thriller now and then!
Now let’s get back to this book, for a psychological thriller this was exactly that, full of mystery, suspense, drama and some romance. I liked it. Meredith was unexpectedly courageous, I didn’t expect her to be so curious and take such risks. I liked her character a lot. As for the ending, oh my, I definitely wasn’t expecting that. It was a lot of twists and turns and even though I tried to guess what will happen next, I didn’t guess it. I really hope it will be a second book coming. I need to know more! 🫣😅❤️

Thank you Atria Books and Vi Keeland for giving me a copy of this ARC! ❤️

Phenomenal Writing!!!!

Thank you NetGallary for an early review copy of The Unraveling!

This is another fantastic book from Vi Keeland!

This thriller was EPIC and gave me all the feels! This story is compelling and superbly written!

The character development was perfect! I was thinking about this book when I was not reading it. You know you are hooked when that happens!

I absolutely LOVE this authors writing style! I read this book in two days because I could not stop reading!

This is one of the best of 2024 thus far! A masterpiece that kept me engaged the entire time!

No spoilers with my review! This is a must read for 2024!

Intense, shocking, intriguing. This book is all those things. This isn't your typical romance or thriller. It's an intense recollection of a woman who has lost everything and is trying to find happiness again. She sees it in other people (one person in particular) and wants it for herself. She goes to extremes to figure out how to get it back.

Many twists in this story. Even now after reading, I'm still a little boggled about what the answers actually are. Are there answers?

The storyline alternates between past and present so you can see what Meredith went through and how she got to where she is. Why she walks these horribly unethical lines and how she justifies all these bad decisions she's making.

Read it. You won't regret the ride it takes you on.

ARC received from Artria Books and Netgalley, thank you!

Keeland took her expansive romance background and transformed that expertise into a wild, twisty thriller in The Unraveling! Holy hell!!! The thriller anxiety is absolutely real with this one. Who is the stalker? Who am I rooting for?

The Unraveling is going to unravel all your plans this summer because you’ll be stuck turning pages until the very end.
