Holy sh!t. What did I just read???

I'm not entirely sure how to write this review without spoiling it, and trust me - it would be a dang shame to spoil anything about this book because it's so good.

Absolute madness, in the best possible way.

Meredith is coming off a lengthy suspension from her medical practice after her deceased husband stole her prescription pad and then drove while impaired, killing a woman and child.
Only one of her first patients after she comes back is a man she shares a tragic past with... And so begins her obsession with this patient. But is he aware of their connection, and can she pull herself out of her spiraling obsession before he realizes who she is?
Anything more about the plot would do a disservice to you as the reader who needs to experience it, so I'll just say - read it. You won't regret it, and you won't forget it.

This is a tight, tense thriller that will have you yelling at the main character for her choices while also rooting for her. Keeland did a great job making this character real and sympathetic, even as she made bad decision after bad decision.

This author is known for romances (which are excellent, by the way...), and she pulls in some of the sexual tension that she writes so well, but this book shows she's also adept at writing psychological tension that keeps the reader guessing and coming back for more.

I'm still going over and over this ending, and will definitely reread this book to see what clues I missed along the way.

Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me to read on Netgalley.

I really enjoyed this one! There was a lot of stalking elements and who’s actually stalking whom. I had about 85% of it solved and then there was a twist that completely threw me. Easy, enjoyable read. And don’t trust anyone.

Meredith McCall is a woman hanging on by a thread, tragedy stole the life she knew and she is struggling to find her way. She spends her days wandering the streets in her neighborhood, looking for nothing in particular, just wanting to find some normalcy again. Then she sees him one day on her walk and the obsession takes over...

The Unraveling is a thrilling page-turner that is destined to toy with your mind throughout, it's packed with some unexpected twists and turns that'll leave mess with your thoughts. When we meet our heroine we learn that she has just faced a devastating loss and she is struggling to find her way in the world again, she's basically starting over. But we also learn she is not the only one going through the same thing, her grief is connected to another's and their lives are about to intertwine in ways they'd never expect.

This book is unlike anything I've read from this author and I have to say she really nailed this new venture of hers, this book was truly something else. I am still reeling from what I read, trying to piece it all together and maintain all my thoughts on it. It's one of those books that will really get you!! Highly recommend you take a chance on this captivating thriller, it's well penned words will not disappoint!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

What do you get when the doctor becomes the patient? When stalking becomes obsession? It’s this book, you get this book! And what a book this was!

I found myself questioning my own sanity more than once as I tore through these pages. My theories and what I thought were answers unraveled even further with each turn of the page. Up until the very last paragraph, I had it, I swear I had it but I was so wrong! The gasp I gasped when that bomb dropped…😱😱😱

This is my first time reading anything by Vi Keeland and it will not be the last!

Thank you NetGalley and Atria/Emily Bestler Books for allowing me an arc of this book. All opinions are my own.

I have read every one of Vi’s stories. But The Unraveling was her first psychological thriller she wrote and she nailed it. This 5 star page turner kept me on the edge of my seat.

Meredith is living the unimaginable. Doing things and becoming someone she doesn’t recognizes. When she things she has everything under control it’s spiralling yet again.

This was an intense slow ride but full of WTF moments. It plays with ones mind and made me think one thing but yet it wasn’t. She nailed this story with the storyline that kept me hooked from the beginning to the end. It put me out of my comfort zone. Bottomline this is a must read.

Standalone told in a single POV with an ending that left me speechless and baffled. I strongly recommend this story.

My advice is to buddy read this book with someone. As you read it, you will be wanting to call anyone who will listen to talk about it. And once you finish, you'll need someone to discuss so you can talk without giving away the ending, that I promise will blow you away. This book was super engaging, and you will want to keep reading until its done. Even then you'll be hoping for more. This is one I'll be buying a physical copy so I can share with my friends. Amazing and highly recommend. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.

What an ending! This was a rollercoaster that had me tense the entire time. I was so intrigued by this story and so engrossed in this book, I blocked out the rest of the world and did not put this book down. I absolutely enjoyed every moment and every page of this book. I can't wait to see what Vi Keeland has in store for us next!

I'm sitting her dumbfounded. I don't know how to review this book. This is my first read by author Vi Keeland. It will not be my last. I looked at some of her earlier books and they seem to be contemporary romance which I'm ok with, but boy oh boy can she write a psychological thriller. I love the alternating time lines and short chapters. I had to keep reading to see what the heck was going on. What makes this story even more interesting is our main character Meredith is a psychiatrist and she can't figure out what's happening to her life. This book definitely brought out the WTF's in my mind. For the twist and turns and psychological craziness involved, I thought the ending would be a bit more explosive, but all in all a great read. Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for allowing me the opportunity to read such a edge of my seat thriller.

I really really wanted to love this book. It came so highly recommended and effusively, and I read the whole thing so fast, just waiting to be wowed. And it never really happened. I was weirdly dissatisfied with the major plot twists in the story, I think because no one actually seemed innocent, so it wasn't a surprise when the secrets came out. I can't really say much else without putting spoilers in this review, but I was left wanting at the end of the story.

3.5 stars! I’ve been a fan of Vi Keeland’s for quite some time as she was a go to author for me when it came to the romance genre. I was shocked to see her name on the cover of this especially after reading the blurb. I must say that this was actually such a fun thriller to read. I thought the writing was great and very easy to follow. It reminded me of You by Caroline Kepnes in a way. There were some predictable twists but the ending I DID not see coming. Keeland managed to catch me off guard and I actually ran to Goodreads to see if I misinterpreted or THAT actually happened. I’ve been struggling with reading for quite some time so I really appreciate what a breeze it was to read. Welcome to the thriller genre Vi Keeland.

Fast paced psychological thriller. A psychiatrist develops an unhealthy obsession after a tragedy occurs in her personal life. One day while walking aimlessly through town as she does daily, Meredith spots the man whom she shares a tragic connection with and begins following him. As she starts habitually following this man he inexplicably walks into her office as a new patient. What Meredith doesn’t realize is she may also be the subject of someone else’s obsession. Dark twisty thriller, not to be missed.

4.5/5

Well that was a wild and fun ride! You know how every one in a while a book comes along that totally consumes you while you’re reading it? The kind that has you totally addicted and you basically don’t put it down until you’ve finished? That was exactly my reading experience with this one. It had me in a chokehold from the very beginning and it never let up for me until I finished it. The synopsis of this one is pretty vague and brief and that’s purposeful because you don’t really need to know more about this one before you start it. If it sounds at all good to you give it a try. Or if you like fast paced and intriguing reads that make you question everything try it. It’s so good, I had so much fun with it and I think if you enjoy domestic thrillers about obsession you will too.

Thank you NetGalley, Atria/Emily Bestler Books, and Vi Keeland for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I loved this book and found it addicting. It’s a mystery/thriller that follows Meredith McCall after a painful experience as she crosses paths with Gabriel Wright - who shares some of her pain. There’s a lot of questions in this one and I loved seeing how things played out. I highly recommend it! Fast-paced, entertaining, and unique.

4-4.25 STARS

Author Vi Keeland takes a detour from her tried-and-true romance genre to try her hand at something new, and she doesn’t disappoint! Delving into the realm of psychological thriller, she takes readers on one crazy roller coaster ride in this compelling story of obsession gone too far. It’s the story of Meredith and Gabriel, two people whose worlds collide on one very fateful night, and the disturbing, compulsive events that ultimately transpire. As the story slowly unravels, so does Meredith, who finds herself caught in a dangerous game of cat and mouse. However, as the story spiraled toward its unexpected, twisty ending, the main pivotal moment simply dangled out there--vague and obscure--making it less impactful for me as might have been intended. That said, “The Unraveling” still delivers one riveting, suspenseful ride from start to finish, so just hop aboard and enjoy this intense, emotionally-charged journey.

WOW, WOW, WOW- Holy plot twist!

If I could give this book 6 stars I would. Ms. Keeland had me on my toes from the first page and the suspense was non-stop. I literally read this entire book in one day because I NEEDED to know what happens. I was also SHOOK to my core when I realized this book is the author's first thriller book because she absolutely hit it out of the park.

As a reader of 200 books per year, it takes a lot to get my motors revving, but this book took me into third gear.

We start with Lauren, a grieving widow who is consumed by guilt. I appreciated the running dialogue she had with the deceased because it felt like we were inside her innermost thoughts. Her aimless wandering leads her to Gabrielle Wright, husband and father of her husband's drunk driving road fatality victims.

The catalyst of the story is Laurens's burning desire to understand how Gabrielle is so seemingly happy while she is constantly drowning in despair. The twists, turns, flips and overall rollercoaster of a ride are gripping.

The shocking truths that come to light will shake you to your core.

I don't want to give too much away except to say, don't think twice. just read it!

Thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for this Advanced Reader’s Copy of The Unraveling by Vi Keeland due to be published July 9, 2024.
Meredith McCall is obsessed with Gabriel Wright because of something her husband did that made them cross paths with his family. When Gabriel comes into Meredith’s office as a patient, she crosses every boundary to treat him. Her life and career couldn’t get any worse – or could they?
My first impression was how inappropriate it would be to treat someone as a therapist when your family was involved with them – and not in a good way. Just because that person does not recognize you, I assume it would be unethical to say the least. I spent ¾ of the book wondering how a professional person could throw away their career.
Oh, my – it all comes together at the end of the book – what an ending.
Totally recommend this one!

This was a little slow, and not very twisty. Still, I enjoyed it. The characters were great, and I liked the connections between them. This was a pretty good balance between tense and smutty, which is all I want from my thrillers. I actually really dug the ending too. I've never read any of Vi Keeland's work before this, but this made me want to check out more of her books.

It's difficult to fathom that this is Vi Keeland's first thriller novel. I finished in one sitting and still can't stop thinking about the characters. This book kept me guessing until the very end, and then, <insert my face with jaw dropping to the ground> the twist at the end! Simply brilliant. One of the best books I've read in 2024.
