4/5 stars because of some of the most stupid decisions I couldn’t justify reading.
This book did unravel, from one bizarre thing to another it kept unraveling on a very fast pace right up until the very last sentence!
So, for anyone who cares to discuss, WTF was even that ending?? What did he even mean? Like, they had the whole thing planned? From what point? The very beginning or just the ending? Is he a psychopath? A compulsive liar? What was the actual intentional lie?
I can’t, I need answers ending on that point was brutal it made me need therapy as well 😭
Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for the digital ARC!
Wow wow wow how to even start with this book!? I thoroughly enjoyed this one. This was my first book by this author and it won’t be my last! I could not put this one down and towards the last half I read in one sitting. You think you have it figured out until the very end and you’re in shock. This was a great thriller! It takes a lot for books to shock me but this one did just that.
I only give a 5 star review when a book truly impresses me. This is definitely a 5 star MUST read!!! From the first sentence I was completely hooked and I was on the emotional roller coaster with Meredith. I will say this- there were a lot of times that I wanted to shake her and bring her back to reality. She annoyed me a lot but I also found her actions to be plausible (hopefully that doesn’t say something terrible about me…)
The explanation of the past and the switch over to the present was very well done in this book. I never really found myself wishing for the book to "get on with it". There may have been a few spots where I rushed ahead but for the majority of the book I was along for the ride.
If there is ANYthing that I wished has been different in this book it would be that I wish the end scenario was given more time and detail. Very hard to explain without spoiling so I will just say that I would have happily read chapters that explained how the court scene played out.
I truly hope there is a sequel… this book DEMANDS a sequel!!!! Please write more like this!!!!
4 Stars!
Meredith McCall is a New York psychiatrist drowning in grief after suffering a horrific loss. After almost two years her world still feels completely shattered and empty. She's been through too much, and her emotions are all over the place. She craves a sense of normalcy again, and needs to learn to stop living in the past. She feels like she's searching for something, but not sure what. Maybe she just longs for a fresh start. Then she runs into a man she shares a tragic history with. They have a connection even though they've never actually met. She should steer clear of Gabriel, but her curiosity gets the better of her. She makes the choice to follow him which gives her an odd sense of purpose. She finds it fascinating how carefree he appears while she's falling apart. When he suddenly walks into her office looking for a therapist, she can't bring herself to turn him away. Even though he doesn't seem to know who she is, it crosses all the lines and breaks all her own rules. As she heads down a dark unhealthy path things get more complicated as her life and career continue to unravel.
The Unraveling by Vi Keeland is an intense, emotionally charged, psychological thriller full of suspense, mystery, stalking, obsession, forbidden attraction and unexpected twists. I really enjoyed Vi Keeland's captivating debut thriller, and hope she continues writing more in this genre.
Spectacular! This is the type of thriller I love. I could not put it down. It is morally gray and twisty and unreliable and I loved every second of it. I have read a couple of Vi's romance books, but this one is more thriller with a couple of quick trysts. Overall I think this is very well done and I will definitely recommend it to readers who love a thriller/stalker book with a side of romance.

4.25 stars out of 5.
Wow, this book kept me on the edge of my seat! It is jam packed with action and twists and turns. I was also not expecting that ending! The epilogue was so twisted! This is one psychological thriller you will not want to miss, it will leave you asking yourself "What did I just read?!?". The characters were all pretty unlikeable but that just made the story so much better. I ended up reading this book in 1 day it was so good. Highly recommend!
In The Unraveling, we meet Meredith whose life has just done a 180 after a sudden tragedy. She is a psychiatrist who is taking a leave of absence so she wonders around aimlessly during the day. One day she stumbles upon Gabriel, a man she shares the tragedy with. She ends up following him because he seems happy after what happened but Meredith can't seem to get her life back together. After Meredith returns to her practice Gabriel comes in as a new patient and seems to not know who she is. This throws Meredith for a loop which will lead to a series of strange events.

I am a huge fan of Vi Keeland's romance novels and was excited to read her foray into some new genres- psychological thriller and suspense. The Unraveling was a wild ride and I loved it! I was genuinely surprised and taken aback at several of the reveals and that epilogue- wow! Well played indeed. I hope that Keeland releases some more books in this category because I am all in!
What did I just read. This was an unputdownable , intriguing and addictive read. The plot kept me hooked and I was unable to put it down once I started reading it. It was a one sitting reading for me. Meredith is a psychiatrist going through a tough phase and going through her life a day at a time until Gabriel walks in as her patient. I don’t want to give any spoilers but the story and plot really hooks you and you question the choices that are being made. And the unexpected twist and the ending ..wth
The Unraveling is Vi Keeland’s debut novel in the thriller genre . I don’t read thrillers but when I found out Vi Keeland was writing her thriller novel I had to read it. It has all the elements of Vi Keeland’s brilliant writing and story telling and yet it’s different. She is a seasoned writer and she has definitely raised the bars for herself. Can’t wait to read more books by her in the genre. Hats off to Vi Keeland for a job well done.
I’m going to be screaming at how phenomenal this was for the next four months until release. My favorite author stepping into the real of thriller and she absolutely slayed it! I was so captivated and never wanted to put it down! I was left on the edge of seat. Even when I was thinking one way she twisted it and surprised me at the end to yet pull out another surprise at the very end and go BAM! Everyone needs this book on their TBR! I will be preorder and owning a physical copy for sure and rereading upon release.
What did I just read!?! This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time and I truly did not see the ending coming. The Unraveling kept my wheels turning so much so that I'm still thinking about it. Vi Keeland is one of my go to authors but this book is so different than her others but it is just as good in a completely different way. It was truly suspenseful. Once I thought I had it figured out, it would take a hard twisted turn in another direction. Most definitely a wild ride!
Thank you Netgalley, Atria Books Publicity and Vi Keeland for this book ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was AMAZING. It had me hooked from start to finish. Every time I thought I had everything figured out, the author would throw a plot twist at me. The ending????? CRAZY, INSANELY GOOD. I need the author to write like 50 more of these thrillers.
The Unraveling by Vi Keeland was my very first psychological thriller slash suspense novel, and I was honored to have been able to read an advanced copy. To say I was shocked and on the edge of my seat with this story was an understatement!!
Meredith is at a crossroads. Not only is she having a difficult time coming to terms with the tragic death of her husband, but she also lives with guilt over the life her husband inadvertently shattered. With her psychiatry license revoked, Meredith is seeking help to heal herself. But life has a funny sense of humor because she's put in the path of none other than Gabriel Wright—a charming professor, and the man whose live was ruined by her husband.
Instantly, Meredith becomes obsessed and begins to follow him. She's consumed by this man but soon realizes just how unhealthy her obsession has become and starts to move on. She's back at work and practicing again. Then everything changes once again when one of her new patients shows up and turns out to be Gabriel himself. Oh, what a tangled web we weave!
As the story progresses, the ride only gets crazier and crazier as more and more truths unravel! I won't say too much as you really have to read it and experience the thrill and mystery as I did, but know this book will take you on so many twisted turns. You may see some things coming, but then you're knocked over by the shock of it all. This is not a story of romance and second chances, so please don't expect a happily ever after for Meredith and Gabriel together... though both characters seem happy and content individually at the end of their journey. But, who knows what could happen as the ending felt more like an open or ambiguous one. At last, Bravo, Bravo, Vi!!! I can't wait to see what else you will bring to this genre 👏.
What the hell did I just read? Okay, first off the writing style was great and flowed perfectly. I flew through this even though it was on the longer side. Second off, I loved that the main characters thought processes were a lot like mine. She really did think of all the angles and possibilities. After reading the ending I feel like I need to reread it all so I can appreciate how fucked up this story really was. I have read a few other books by this author that I enjoyed, but she took her writing to a whole other level with this thriller.

The Unraveling by Vi Keeland is the first book I’ve read written by this author and her first dive into psychological thrillers and I hope she writes more because it left me like what?!
Meridith is a psychologist who is just back to work after being off for a year following her husband’s death when she becomes obsessed with Gabriel, a man that shares a tragic past with her. Then he becomes her patient, what could go wrong? After all she only wants to help him.
The characters are great, the plot winding and there are twists I didn’t see coming! I definitely recommend for one of those thrillers that you don’t know what’s going to happen until the very last sentence!
This is totally different than what we're used to from the author and it's definitely not what you'd expect. A psychological thriller that has your mind going one way and it goes another way. It was an enthralling story that had you on the edge of your seat, wondering what was coming next and how it'll end. I definitely didn't see some things coming. I thought it was a bit of a learning curve, especially for the characters. Definitely an enthralling story that also hit all the feels.
As Meredith's world turned upside down, she'll have to face reality and try to get back on track with her work as she slowly tries to make it through a new day. When she and Gabriel finally meet, he seeks therapy but there's a fine line she's about to cross but maybe that's something worth sacrificing. A lot of things happen but the past has a way to come back to haunt you and secrets find their way out. Maybe the real truth will be revealed... Will both get the closure they need?...
New York City psychiatrist Meredith McCall has just suffered a tragic loss and her life seems to be impossibly adrift. Unexpectedly she runs into Gabriel Wright, with whom she has a tragic connection. Over the next few days this chance encounter turns into an unhealthy obsession she Meredith begins to follow Gabriel around the city. Unexpectedly, Gabriel shows up at Meredith’s office looking for therapy, but she can’t bring herself to turn him away due to her unhealthy obsession. As she begins to see Gabriel, her life continues to unravel almost to the point of no return.
Vi Keeland’s “The Unraveling” is an excellent psychotic thriller with just a little bit of spice to keep the reader interested. The action begins almost immediately from the beginning of the book and doesn’t stop until the final twist at the end. 4/5 stars for a fun read that’ll keep you entertained throughout.

✨Meredith McCall, a NYC psychiatrist, begins a dangerous obsession after she starts following a man who has a disturbing past, much like her own.
✨After a tragic event that drastically changes both of their lives, she wonders how he is able to appear so happy when her life is falling apart at the seams.
✨On administrative leave from her job, and forced to enter into counseling herself, Meredith is faced with her inner demons, who she was, and who she is now.
✨I wasn’t as captivated by this book as I thought I’d be. I found it a bit slow at times.

I received The Unraveling ARC and I was so happy since I am a huge fan of Vi Keeland. For me her books just always draw me in with her beautifully written characters. The Unraveling is no exception of her writing ability to draw you in. At times I felt Meredith’s angst and sorrow. I couldn’t put this book down and just devoured it. That ending, just wow. The title truly says it all.
I loved this book! I didn’t know what to expect but I couldn’t put it down and finished it within a day.
The unraveling of the story and how the main characters slowly become tangled kept me guessing until the very end.
The one thing that didn’t make sense was the very end, I’m still trying to figure out the whole Thailand thing.
I can’t wait for more from Vi Keeland!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!
I love a stalking trope, so this book definitely was on my radar. This is told in the past and present, so you’re able to see the events that unfold that connect Meredith and Gabriel. I did not like Meredith’s husband from the beginning, and as the story went on, I began to hate him.
When Meredith is first introduced, you want to know why she’s following Gabriel. As I kept reading, I would have liked the pace to pick up at times. I know as the reader you are inside Meredith’s head, but it just felt like not a lot was happening. I know this book was about morality and the spiral of Meredith, but I just wanted more.
