OMG, not even sure where to start. This book is very different than everything else I've read by this author. When you think things are going one way, you're wrong they are going another in this book by Vi Keeland. Meredith is a psychiatrist that was married to a hockey star. When her husband gets injured, he goes off the rails with alcohol and painkillers. Ultimately ending in a tragedy that Meredith has to continue living with. Trying to get her life back on track, Meredith continues going through the motions, and eventually finding herself following one of the victims. Until one day he walks into her practice as a patient. Growing closer, and knowing it is ethically wrong for her to treat him, she continues to see him as a patient.
However, in this book.. nothing is as it seems and just when you think you have it figured out...let me tell you, you don't and have no idea where it is headed next. This was an amazing book that kept you on your toes trying to guess the ending, and for me, I never saw it coming!! Definitely a must read if you like psych thriller.

Meredith is a psychiatrist who is grieving a huge loss. She unexpectedly sees Gabriel, a man who lost everything because of her and that's a burden she carries. He should by all counts be even worse off than she is but she sees him SMILING and LAUGHING and can't understand it. She starts to follow him to understand HOW that's possible. He must be good at pretending, at covering up the grief.
Gabriel becomes a new patient of Meredith's. She's torn because even though he doesn't seem to know of their connection its unethical to treat him but she wants to help him heal. She feels like it's the least she could do for being a part of ruining his life.
I couldn't put this book down. I kept trying to figure out what was truly going on, who was stalking who, and who was responsible for it all. It was so addicting. I got to the last chapter and it was all wrapped up with a nice little bow....UNTIL I read the epilogue and the last two sentences had me picking my jaw up off the floor and saying OH MY GOODNESS, WHAT!?!?!?

Thank you to Vi Keeland, Atria Books, and Netgalley for this ARC

I have read many of Vi Keeland's books, and to say this one took me on a roller coaster ride is an understatement!

This is a genre (psychological thriller) I am not familiar with at all. However, when Vi writes, I read. And boy, was I glued to my kindle!

Dr. Meredith McCall had it all, until she didn't. But when Gabriel Wright comes into her life unexpectedly, suddenly, everything she thought she knew to be true, wasn't.

Just when you think you know what's happening, you find out your theories need to be thrown out the window, because Vi manages to take you on a ride with this newest release.

I highly would recommend someone to read this book, because you will be riveted by it!

Then and Now…how drastically life can change in what feels like a heartbeat. Tragedy, loss, and so many unanswered questions. Life was looking so promising for psychiatrist Meredith and her husband, Connor, until a hockey injury ruined his career. Now Meredith finds herself walking endlessly through the city and stalking a man who has lost his wife and child. She is filled with immense grief and regret but we don’t know why. The Unraveling is an absolutely riveting read, nearly impossible to put down. Beautifully written with so many twists and turns that will keep you guessing as the truth unravels…and underneath the gripping plot is a masterfully captured portrayal of human emotions.

Review is on Goodreads and will be posted to instagram in June closer to publication date.

I am mostly a romance reader, love a great love story. But every once in a while, I like to step out of my comfort zone, which I definitely did with reading The Unraveling. I didn't just step I fell deep into it and I absolutely devoured it.
From the first chapter you are drawn into this story. From start to finished it captivated me with the rollercoaster ride this author took us on. So many shocking moments and surprises I thought I was going to get whiplash! And the ending O.M.G...!!!

Thanks to Netgalley and Atria for the copy. The Unravelling by Vi Keeland is her first psychological thriller, and you will be on a wild ride from beginning to end. Ash stated in the beginning of her novel, this is not a love story; it is a tale of loss, depression and obsession. We follow Meredith, a NY Psychiatrist's descent into her version of Hell. The characters were really great with a unique connection. I really didn't know what to expect and there were twists and turns throughout the book. No spoilers here, but who winds up stalking whom? I love it when a book is not predictable, and Wow, this one is definitely not.

This book ? Where do I start . It’s amazing what goes thru the mind of person, after experiencing a tragic accident. However as the story unravels the plot thickens!!! All I can say is that the last line of this book will blow you Away!!!!! 😳😱😳. Thoroughly enjoyed this book.

This was a wild ride! I’m always fascinated by books like this where people do things that they know can get them into a lot of trouble. Maybe it’s obvious what their motivation is, but it’s always fascinating to read about the lows they stoop to when they risk everything. The multiple twists really grabbed my attention, and that was ending was shocking.

And this, folks–is it! Stepping out of her usual genre, Keeland offers her readers a gripping psychological thriller whose effect on me was nothing less than mind-blowing. Apart from the eye-catching cover, the faster I turned the pages, the more sense the title made. Few authors have the power to evoke such a strong feeling of anxious excitement, and Keeland did just that in The Unraveling.

Psychiatrist Dr Meredith McCall’s first-person viewpoint, alternating between past and present, couldn’t have been better thought out. I learnt about her husband’s misfortune and how they both tried to cope with it, as was her patience and effort while trying to calm troubled waters. However, her will to save what appears to be everlasting love takes a turn for the worse. Ladies and gents, this is by no means a love story. It’s a guilt-ridden ‘can you guess’ whodunit read.

For starters, I felt a certain amount of ambivalence towards Meredith. Her self-torturing thoughts threw me for a loop; however, my empathy she had. As the masterfully paced story unravelled, I did a U-turn of sorts. I thought Meredith was bold to the brink of being foolhardy and questioned whether her growing obsession with someone would backfire on her. You know when you want to jump into the book and tell the character they’re going about it the wrong way? That was me!

Getting the required help from a peer who keeps Meredith’s secrets to themselves as one in their position should, the therapeutic advice given was reasonably sound to my ears. But would she give their counselling the time of day? The unpredictability had me sitting on the edge of my seat, subtle coincidences playing a vital part. Once Meredith gets back on her professional track, does she respect the moral code by not letting on to a patient who she is? It’s heavy stuff to absorb if you’ve been rooting for this woman’s peace of mind since, in my opinion, she deserved a well-needed breather from the unsettling goings-on, which, I might add, she provoked to a certain point.

Like no other curveball thrown into the mix–like no other jaw-dropping plot twist I ever saw coming, the author caught me off guard big time. Even though she is a seasoned storyteller, her latest novel showcases her boundless writing skills. While recommending this must-read to all suspense lovers, still ready yourselves for the last line in the epilogue! Excuse the pun, but it’s a killer! Bravissimo, Keeland!

Oh my god! This book is an edge of the seat ride, one that I couldn't put down. It's packed with red herrings so the moment I thought I figured something out I couldn't have been more wrong. Nothing and no one is what they seem to be, with mystery attached to it. I honestly didn't see few of these twists coming at all!

The book deals with pain, loss, guilt, revenge and obsession. It gripped me right from the beginning and never did my attention wane. It kept me guessing and you feel the tension coming out from the character as there's a transition. Also loved the ending of the book! Definitely want to read more thrillers by Vi Keeland! This is a 5 star read for me!

I am speechless! This is such an exceptional story. I wish I had better word to describe how good this book is. I’m not going to say anything about it. I suggest you read the blurb about it and leave it at that, so you can go in somewhat blind. But I will say that I thought I had the story figured out. Not even close. I finished with my jaw dropped. Vi is one of my favorite authors. I absolutely love her romances. And she knocked it out of the park with this one.

The mystery/suspense/psychological thriller genre is one of my favorites to read besides romance, so when Vi Keeland announced she was venturing into that world, I was ridiculously excited. What kind of story was she going to be telling in her debut thriller? I couldn't wait to find out!

Vi doesn't keep us waiting long to fall down a rabbit hole, along with our protagonist, Meredith. She's a recent widow who had a thriving practice as a psychiatrist, until one tragic night changed her life forever. Now eighteen months later, she's trying to rebuild her life and her practice, but one chance encounter with Gabriel Wright, the man whose life also changed irrevocably that tragic night, sends her spiraling down a dangerous path.

Unraveling is certainly an appropriate title for this story as it pertains to Meredith, but also other characters too, as we learn by the end of the book. Who might those characters be? You'll have to read to find out.

For someone who was intelligent enough to graduate medical school and become a Psychiatrist, Meredith sure made a slew of very questionable and downright stupid decisions on the daily. The number of times I wanted to grab her by the shoulders and say, "Girl, just no." were innumerable. But people who are suffering the type of tragedy she was, even someone who is trained as a psychiatrist and supposedly know right from wrong and all the correct coping mechanisms, often are the ones who make the biggest mistakes. And boy, Meredith made some doozies!

If you aren't paying close attention, there are lots of hints dropped throughout the story that all culminate in that final, jaw dropping last paragraph. I admit, I had to read it several times to grasp exactly what it was implying, and I am still obsessing over it today to make sure I fully understand the total weight of its implications. My OCD won't let me drop it until I've overanalyzed it to death, no pun intended!

When you get ready to start reading, be prepared to strap in tight and hold on for the ride. Vi delivers a truly twisted tale that I just could not put down. Her first foray into writing a thriller was an absolute success and I sincerely hope she continues to bring us more twisted stories!

V Keeland is one of my go to authors. I was excited to read her foray into a different genre with The Unraveling. The Unraveling is a story about the aftermath of a tragic accident and the intermingling of the characters connections to those events. This was a thriller taking many twists and turns about unhealthy obsessions and the lengths people will go to, to get what they want regardless of how it affects others.
There were so many layers to this story that kept the reader glued. Breadcrumbs left to make you think you were right there with the character only for it to not be anywhere close to what was really happening.
Be prepared to take a rollercoaster of a ride as Vi Keeland's The Unraveling plays with the mind and psyche. then be prepared to be shocked at the end!

I just finished reading "The Unraveling," and boy, was it a wild ride! This book had me frantically turning the pages until the very end. It's like a train wreck you can't look away from, and I was ready with my popcorn to witness the crash.

The main character, Meredith, is a psychiatrist and therapist who has gone rogue and is making every possible wrong choice to lose her practice license. She may not be the most likable character, but she certainly makes an excellent one to hate. I found myself rooting for her to get her act together, even though I knew it was unlikely.

Overall, "The Unraveling" is a quick and fun read with some steamy scenes (so be warned!). If you're looking for a book to keep you on the edge of your seat, this is definitely one to pick up.

This was my first book by Vi Keeland and I really enjoyed it. There were so many layers and I didn’t know what was going to happen next. The description of this book sounded so intriguing and it did not disappoint! This book is told in the POV of Meredith McCall who is a psychiatrist in New York whose life takes a turn and she is struggling to get her life back on track. She keeps making questionable decisions throughout the book.

Plot: I found the plot intriguing and unique. I enjoy a good stalker romance, and this one had a little different twist to the stalker troupe.

Character: I liked the characters. A tragic accident happens and you see the two main characters trying to overcome it and how their lives intersect and are interconnected. Since it was told in the POV of the main female character you could really feel her mental spiral, her guilt, and her reflection on her choices.

I liked that it was a thriller but had some romance intertwined into the story. I will be checking out some of the romance books this author has written.

My mind is just 🤯. I mean .... I don't have words. I was completely drawn in. The story line, the characters. The twist and turns... I LOVED it! 5+ stars! I wouldn't mind seeing more of this type of book.

Just finished the first (of many, hopefully!) Vi Keeland thriller, and I'm still pondering the outcome. The story of a psychiatrist suffering the tragic loss of her pro hockey husband and her subsequent unraveling is quite the page turner. I fell into the story but couldn't decide who to trust, which is to say I got sucked right in to the whole twisted knot between victims and side characters. Reading mostly the inner thoughts of Dr. Meredith, I kept pulling for her to do the right thing, even when the lines were blurred, a lot. When it felt to me that the story was slowing down, I realize it was more likely that I was bracing for the ambush around the corner. Mission accomplished! Well done.
