A thrilling twisted tale, devouring the words from start to finish, I couldn’t even imagine how this would end. Suspense and breath holding moments in every chapter, this introduction to this genre from Vi Keeland was fantastic! And that ending, I did not see that coming!

I’m a big fan of Vi Keeland’s romance novels and when I heard she was branching out and writing her first psychological thriller, I was excited and couldn’t wait to read it.

The Unraveling…yes, it is not a romance but not exactly a thriller either. I would call it suspenseful with some dark romance undertones. First and foremost, it’s a story of Meredith’s obsession and guilt, all because of a tragic tragedy. We see and feel everything from her POV. The first 35% of the story was told in an alternating timeline between the past and present, so we get to see the cause and effect happening almost side by side as Meredith experienced them. So her guilt and obsession with Gabriel was almost understandable but also quite deranged. However, if you’re familiar with Vi Keeland’s work, you know not everything is as it seems and there’s going to be a twist or two. And she doesn’t disappoint! The last 20% of the book will have you questioning everything you thought you have already figured out and then BAM! That ending was unbelievable! That’s it. I need to go think about Meredith and Gabriel some more.

Overall, it was an entertaining and twisted read. A good first suspense/mystery story by Vi Keeland.

This book releases July 9th, 2024.

Thank you Atria/Emily Bestler Books via NetGalley for this ARC.

Hello, You.

The book makes a cheeky reference to what definitely influenced this book. I kind of wish it didn't have dial timelines - because the present took way too long to drag out before we get some movement that isn't just an endless time loop Meredith finds herself in.

It's soapy and extreme but the last sentence ties it all together in a wtf moment that puts this right up with some of my favorite Alice Feeney novels.

This was a different from any of the previous books I've read by Vi Keeland, and one that I greatly enjoyed. I had to remind myself on multiple occasions that I was reading VK, not Frieda McFadden. It was well written, and the plot execution was superb.

The plot consists of two people, Meredith and Gabriel, coping with the aftermath of loss of their loved ones. They are connected via the loss. Meredith sets on a journey to discover how and why Gabriel is able to move on with her life, while she can't seem to find a purpose in hers. In doing so, things get messy. You can expect some plot twists along the way. By the end of the story, everything is nicely wrapped up. After some reveals, I was left feeling a little sad for Meredith.

Overall, I had a good time reading this and would recommend it to anyone interested in a thriller/suspense with a touch of romance.

That ending left me reeling. I'm left feeling a sense of wtf was really true! Was all of this Gabriel's idea? Did he manipulate Rebecca into this? This book was left open with so many questions. Perfect for a book club and buddy read to be able to bounce these thoughts and ideas around. It was a thrilling ride and had me on the edge of my seat to figure out what was going on and who was in the wrong here! It definitely kept me interested and I highly enjoyed this new side of Vi Keeland.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and was so excited I was able to read a debut thriller by Vi Keeland! Having read multiple romance novels of hers, I was excited to read The Unraveling. This debut novel is a psychological thriller centered around Meredith, the main protagonist and her traumatic connection to Gabriel. Meredith is a psychiatrist and through her own actions (or lack there-of), ends up accepting Gabriel as a patient, with the impression that he has no idea who she is. Twists and turns, and psychological games occur throughout the story. I really enjoyed reading her thoughts and how Meredith became paranoid and dealing with the grief of her tragedy. It was also interesting to see how Vi wove the grief of two people together, with a psychology twist. There were some spicy scenes, and they fit well in the plot twists and turns. I could definitely see some comparisons to You, the series on Netflix. There even is a reference in the book to it. I gave it a 4 star only because I felt that some of the story was predictable. Overall, the writing captivated me and kept me on my toes. I would absolutely recommend for a quick psychological thriller with a quick plot, refreshing plot, and a little spice.

I am a huge fan of Vi Keeland and was so excited to read a book from her that was outside of her normal genre. I’m so glad I took the leap and read this book. I really can’t say much about the storyline without giving it away but it’s a mystery & thriller with psychological elements. It reminded me of Edgar Allen Poe’s work and I mean that as a huge compliment. The main characters, Meredith and Gabriel are well developed. Their intertwining backstories are intricately weaved and the supporting characters bring twists that I was not expecting. Nothing is as it seems in this book and I couldn’t stop reading it because it just enthralled me. The ending was so very unexpected and I am still reeling from it. I would love to read more books like this from Vi Keeland because she did such an incredible job putting this story together. I definitely recommend it and will likely be reading it again.

In the face of Meredith's grief, she starts making numerous ethically grey decisions. Her behavior is nothing short of unhinged, and the sad thing is, as a psychiatrist, she knows full well that what she's doing is wrong and wreaks of a cry for help. She has an itch, a need to know certain things, and it's this that will surely lead to her doom.

I have to admit I was wondering how Vi was going to redeem Meredith, because she was just so desperately stupid, she kept making all these stupid choices, behaving increasingly self destructively. I wanted to smack her actually, even while I was feeling for her so much because I knew it was the grief talking. And then that ending, wtf?! So good! When I heard Vi had written a thriller, I knew I had to read it, and damn did it live up to my expectations. It's twisty, entertaining, and the ending is perfectly nuts. I can't wait for Vi to write another thriller now.

Meredith is a therapist in therapy herself after facing unimaginable tragedy. She is struggling to put herself back together when a chance encounter with a man she shares a tragic connection to occurs. The same man shows up to her office as a patient and Meredith is left to wonder if it is all coincidental, or is something more sinister happening?

This was so good, I couldn’t put it down! It reminded me a bit of Girl on the Train with its unreliable narrator who is lost in tragedy and alcoholism. I really enjoyed the cat and mouse feel of the book and the slow reveal of what happened to Meredith, her husband, and how it connects to Gabriel. This is a juicy tale of obsession and crossing lines and I ate it up with a spoon! If you enjoy a good domestic suspense thriller with excellent build up, you’ll love this book.

Thank you to Vi Keeland, Atria books, and netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review,

OMG, not even sure where to start. This book is very different than everything else I've read by this author. When you think things are going one way, you're wrong they are going another in this book by Vi Keeland. Meredith is a psychiatrist that was married to a hockey star. When her husband gets injured, he goes off the rails with alcohol and painkillers. Ultimately ending in a tragedy that Meredith has to continue living with. Trying to get her life back on track, Meredith continues going through the motions, and eventually finding herself following one of the victims. Until one day he walks into her practice as a patient. Growing closer, and knowing it is ethically wrong for her to treat him, she continues to see him as a patient.
However, in this book.. nothing is as it seems and just when you think you have it figured out...let me tell you, you don't and have no idea where it is headed next. This was an amazing book that kept you on your toes trying to guess the ending, and for me, I never saw it coming!! Definitely a must read if you like psych thriller.

Meredith is a psychiatrist who is grieving a huge loss. She unexpectedly sees Gabriel, a man who lost everything because of her and that's a burden she carries. He should by all counts be even worse off than she is but she sees him SMILING and LAUGHING and can't understand it. She starts to follow him to understand HOW that's possible. He must be good at pretending, at covering up the grief.
Gabriel becomes a new patient of Meredith's. She's torn because even though he doesn't seem to know of their connection its unethical to treat him but she wants to help him heal. She feels like it's the least she could do for being a part of ruining his life.
I couldn't put this book down. I kept trying to figure out what was truly going on, who was stalking who, and who was responsible for it all. It was so addicting. I got to the last chapter and it was all wrapped up with a nice little bow....UNTIL I read the epilogue and the last two sentences had me picking my jaw up off the floor and saying OH MY GOODNESS, WHAT!?!?!?

Thank you to Vi Keeland, Atria Books, and Netgalley for this ARC

I have read many of Vi Keeland's books, and to say this one took me on a roller coaster ride is an understatement!

This is a genre (psychological thriller) I am not familiar with at all. However, when Vi writes, I read. And boy, was I glued to my kindle!

Dr. Meredith McCall had it all, until she didn't. But when Gabriel Wright comes into her life unexpectedly, suddenly, everything she thought she knew to be true, wasn't.

Just when you think you know what's happening, you find out your theories need to be thrown out the window, because Vi manages to take you on a ride with this newest release.

I highly would recommend someone to read this book, because you will be riveted by it!

Then and Now…how drastically life can change in what feels like a heartbeat. Tragedy, loss, and so many unanswered questions. Life was looking so promising for psychiatrist Meredith and her husband, Connor, until a hockey injury ruined his career. Now Meredith finds herself walking endlessly through the city and stalking a man who has lost his wife and child. She is filled with immense grief and regret but we don’t know why. The Unraveling is an absolutely riveting read, nearly impossible to put down. Beautifully written with so many twists and turns that will keep you guessing as the truth unravels…and underneath the gripping plot is a masterfully captured portrayal of human emotions.

Review is on Goodreads and will be posted to instagram in June closer to publication date.

I am mostly a romance reader, love a great love story. But every once in a while, I like to step out of my comfort zone, which I definitely did with reading The Unraveling. I didn't just step I fell deep into it and I absolutely devoured it.
From the first chapter you are drawn into this story. From start to finished it captivated me with the rollercoaster ride this author took us on. So many shocking moments and surprises I thought I was going to get whiplash! And the ending O.M.G...!!!

Thanks to Netgalley and Atria for the copy. The Unravelling by Vi Keeland is her first psychological thriller, and you will be on a wild ride from beginning to end. Ash stated in the beginning of her novel, this is not a love story; it is a tale of loss, depression and obsession. We follow Meredith, a NY Psychiatrist's descent into her version of Hell. The characters were really great with a unique connection. I really didn't know what to expect and there were twists and turns throughout the book. No spoilers here, but who winds up stalking whom? I love it when a book is not predictable, and Wow, this one is definitely not.

This book ? Where do I start . It’s amazing what goes thru the mind of person, after experiencing a tragic accident. However as the story unravels the plot thickens!!! All I can say is that the last line of this book will blow you Away!!!!! 😳😱😳. Thoroughly enjoyed this book.

This was a wild ride! I’m always fascinated by books like this where people do things that they know can get them into a lot of trouble. Maybe it’s obvious what their motivation is, but it’s always fascinating to read about the lows they stoop to when they risk everything. The multiple twists really grabbed my attention, and that was ending was shocking.
