This was a really captivating and well written book. There was a double murder and the main suspects were two twin sons but no one got charged since birth twins denied it but the entire time thought it was the other. A podcast is set out to find out my who did it.

I have been a life long fan of Mary Higgins Clark and was heartbroken when I found about her passing a few years back. Needless to say, I was ecstatic to find out there would be another book published in the series she wrote with Alafair Burke. This story is the next installment in the Under Suspicion series that centers around Laurie Moran who is tasked with looking into an old case that was never solved. Overall, I really liked the story. It was a little slow in parts, but it kept me guessing until the end. As readers have come to expect, this is a well-written mystery with no language to distract from the story.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

I am an OG MHC ready. I remember the first one I ever read, from my grandma's bookshelf, was "Where Are The Children?" and I was hooked. Her books became pretty formulaic and they lost their appeal over time, but her partnership with Alafair Burke, a wonderful thriller writer in her own right, was a match made in heaven. I am so happy that the series has continued after MHC's death, because I love it and this book is one of the best in the series.

I just love the Under Suspicion series, the two authors did a great job with this mystery. Laurie is a wonderful character and her staff are a hoot. This was a page turner with some family dynamics of brothers accusing each other. A good twist ending.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC of It Had to Be You by by Mary Higgins Clark; Alafair Burke

this is book number 8 of the Under Suspicion series, it can be read as a stand alone but the series is too good to miss out on reading them in order.

felt a little slow to start but really picked up towards the end, I must say normally I am stumped to the very end with the past books but this one was a tad bit predictable (lol or my detective skills are improving!) I would still recommend the read

Another great mystery for the Higgins Clark/Burke partnership. The tradition of storytelling continues in the true light in which Higgins Clark wrote.

A family saga mystery that comes down to one detail that was overlooked. A small town that did not want to make a huge deal of a double murder. It was just easier to the blame the Double Duo and not investigate.

Learn how Frankie, the little sister of the Double Duo and now an orphan, started finding clues.

Another great read, another recommendation!

I love love Mary and Alafair! I don't think I have read a book yet that I didn't like of theirs. This was no exception. I read it on a plane and on vacation and it was so good. I love the twists they provide because you never see them coming. Usually I THINK I know who it is and what's happening but I'm usually wrong.

There is a podcast being made on the murder of parents years ago. This brings the memories back. The children twin sons and daughter. The boys are estranged from each other. The case is opened back up.
If you are a fan of Mary Higgins Clark you don't want to miss this book. It keeps you reading into the night.
Thanks to the publisher Simon and Schuster and NetGalley for the ARC.

I have a few series that I always read the latest book in ASAP and this is one of them. I love following the Under Suspicion series.

I also have an identical twin so this one was an instant appeal to me and the idea of the distance between the brothers was intriguing. This series has consistently had me guessing and trying to armchair detective the cases they cover and this one was no exception.

I really love this series and am so glad Alafair Burke continued it. While this may not be my favorite in the series, I still enjoyed the twists and turns while I tried to solve the mystery before Laurie. I look forward to more mysteries to come.

I was looking forward to this book as soon as I knew it was coming out! I was excited for being approved for it on Netgalley! Thank you! IT did not disappoint. Mary Higgins Clark and Alafair Burke write so well together. I enjoyed reading about the children grown up and some of the mystery of the last book come out. I would definitely recommend this book.

A surprisingly engaging entry in the "Under Suspicion" series this was an entertaining and fast paced read. The story, a Menendez brothers style murder of which twin brothers are both suspected but not enough evidence was ever uncovered to charge either of them, is surprisingly topical and the cast of supporting characters who all have clues needed to close the case harken back to Clark's grand mysteries like "Where are the Children" and "All Around the Town." Though a few red herring plot strings simply disappear the ending is nonetheless a satisfying one and fans of the series will get exactly what they came for.

I have never missed reading a Mary Higgins Clark book! This one didn't disappoint and was what I would anticipate from the authors. It Had to Be You is the 8th installment of the Under Suspicion series Clark authors with Alafair Burke. The series is centered around Laurie Moran, a true crime TV reporter, who usually stirs the pot on cold cases which results in cases being solved but also puts herself and loved ones in danger. The cast of characters are familiar and beloved. I really enjoyed the book from start to finish. Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the ARC!

My love of Mary Higgins Clark books started when i was in high school. Although she passed away, Alafair Burke has managed to keep the spirit alive by continuing the series they had been writing together.

It Had to Be You by Mary Higgins Clark and Alafair Burke, the eighth installment in the Under Suspicion series, follows television producer Laurie Moran as she investigates the decades-old murder of a couple, a case clouded by the involvement of their identical twin sons, each suspecting the other. The book masterfully blends suspense and character development, with Laurie navigating the twins' strained relationship and uncovering long-buried secrets. Filled with tension, emotional depth, and a final jaw-dropping twist, this novel captivates from start to finish, making it a must-read for mystery fans and a fitting tribute to Mary Higgins Clark's legacy.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.

Identical twins are both suspected of murder when their parents are killed one summer night. The evidence points strongly to one of them, but which one? Years later, the case has not been solved and the brothers are estranged--each believing that the other is the murderer.

Now their sister, Frankie, calls on television producer Laurie Moran to help solve the case. Laurie's specialty is solving cold cases via her TV series.

There are many twists and turns which keep the reader engaged and guessing until the final pages. I enjoyed the book and look forward to others in the series.

Classic mystery murder plot! Loved the characters and needed to read till the end. I suspected the true killer but wasn't sure of the motive. Highly recommend and hope to read more from Mary Higgins Clark!

Received as an ARC and read without knowing it’s part of a series although I think they can stand alone. Very intriguing and I just had to know the truth and desperately wanted peace for the family. Heartbreaking that they lost so many years questioning and speculating each other did it. A reminder that money doesn’t really fix all.

This was my first book by these authors, and even though it's part of a series, it worked great as a standalone. The story was easy to follow, and I enjoyed seeing Laurie uncover each clue. While the overall storyline was engaging, the pacing felt slow at the beginning, with most of the action packed into the last third. I wish there were more details about producing the show, as the “filming” portion was minimal before everything got solved. The authors did a great job creating tension and setting up different suspects and I wasn't 100% sure who the culprit was until the very end. I liked how the epilogue wrapped up the story nicely at the end.
