This book had the feel of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Fun, lighthearted, romantic comedy. I liked both he hero and the heroine and enjoyed this story.

A little bit of Never Been Kissed with a dash of How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days added to Lauren’s “tiny seed of a story idea” is what makes this 150-page novella. While I live in horror of the idea that any relationship could begin with nefarious purposes in real life, the truth is every couple has their own story with both good and bad beginnings. And just like this one, it is where the relationship ends up that matters.

The friendship trio in this story known as the Date/Relationship/Sex Girls is something I always love to see. Women who are not only coworkers, but best friends who have each other’s’ backs. There is just something about having your own Sex In The City tribe that is truly something to aspire to. On the opposite side of the spectrum is Kelli, the coworker nemesis who started out as Julie’s friend but ended up as the bane of her existence. The fact Kelli has depth prevented her from becoming the stereotypical villain, the character everyone loves to hate. While she is petty and vindictive, Kelli also seems very human –no better or worse than Julie herself. Had the story been told from Kelli’s point of view, Julie could easily be seen as the antagonist.

Considering how much I loved the aforementioned films, it is natural I would also enjoy this book. I would even like to see this story retold from Kelli’s perspective! I am looking forward to the other Stiletto stories in the series, of which I am sure besties Riley and Grace will make an appearance.
