Sea Isle, Scotland, is magical during the holiday season, and Dr. Emilia McRoy can’t wait to enjoy everything her village has to offer. But when the lead singer of a famous band is murdered in the village, just as they were about to launch a world tour, her holiday instantly comes to a halt. This is the third in the series and it was just as good as the first two. I honestly never want the book to end. This author has a way of pulling you in the story. I would rate higher if I could.

A wonderful holiday cozy mystery!
I thoroughly enjoyed this cozy holiday read! Very good! I feel like I should read them all!

This was such a fun read! I've read the first two book in the series so had high hopes for this book, and it didn't disappoint. It has been nice watching the characters develop over the course of the series, especially Dr. Em McRoy as she continues acclimating to living in Scotland. Couple that with the setting (which serves as its own character within the story), the mystery (tying in the band's history to the town/providing a number of potential suspects), and Dr. McRoy's relationship with Ewan (looking forward to how Connelly handles that in the next book), this made for an enjoyable read. For those new to the series, I would recommend reading the first two books before jumping into this one only because they provide valuable background information. With that being said, it would be 100% okay to jump into this book them backtrack. Either way, make time to savor this series because it's a good one!
I would like to thank Crooked Lane Books for an ARC of this book, and my apologies for not posting a review sooner.

Dr. Emilia McRoy was expecting mulled wine, mistletoe, and cozy village vibes this Christmas—not a dead rockstar and a murder investigation. When the lead singer of a world-famous band drops dead right before their big tour, all signs point to foul play. But things get really personal when Constable Ewan Campbell—Sea Isle’s resident heartthrob and Emilia’s closest friend—becomes the prime suspect. So much for a relaxing holiday. Emilia’s on the case, and nothing—not even the most charming Scottish Christmas—will stop her from finding the real killer.
This book delivers on all the cozy mystery goodness—a picturesque Scottish village, a festive backdrop, and a mystery that keeps you guessing. The small-town charm is chef’s kiss, and the murder investigation? Twisty in all the right ways. If you love village gossip, secrets unraveling like ribbons on Christmas gifts, and a heroine who’s both smart and stubborn, you’ll have a great time. That said, if you haven’t read the first few books in the series, you might feel a little lost at times. The recurring characters and relationships build from earlier books, so while you can jump in, it’s way more fun if you start from the beginning and fully experience Emilia’s world.
I’m giving “Death at a Scottish Christmas” 4 out of 5 stars! It’s cozy, festive, and packed with small-town charm, with a mystery that keeps you hooked. If you love Scottish cozies, amateur sleuths with a bit of bite, and a side of holiday magic with your murder cases, this one deserves a spot on your December TBR.

I read books 1 & 2 to prepare for this ARC and I am glad that I did. There is so much backstory I would have missed! I love the characters in this book and I can't wait to see what happens in the next installment. This was my 1st foray into Lucy Connelly's books but it will not be my last!

Dr. Emilia McRoy is enjoying her new life in a Scottish Village on Sea Isle. She is loving it after working in an ER in Seattle. She is now in Scotland to find out more about her ancesters and is enjoying her new friends and family. When Bram Stoker, a Scottish Rock Star is murdered in the village just before they launch their world tour, everything comes to a halt. Constable Ewan Campbell is a suspect because of bad history with Bram so a detective inspector is brought in to work the case. Although there is someone else there, Ewan is not off the case and as he and the DI work it, Em does her own research, all in the name of medical investigation. With new music gone missing, it seems that there might be more than one person who wanted him dead. Of course a blizzard comes in and cuts the village off, but that doesn't stop the Christmas Festivities.
Death at a Scottish Christmas is the 3rd book in this series, but the first I have read. I think it might have been better to have read the previous books, as I found I didn't really connect with the characters. Em is the local physician, but also the coroner, so she works with the police. She also had a very friendly relationship with Ewan, the local constable and laird, but they dance around each other, neither moving forward on their feelings. Bram has a lot of secrets and as they come out, the suspect pool grows. There is another murder and several twists along the way. I found the middle slowed down a bit, but the ending came fast and furious, with some scary stuff for one of the characters. Overall, this was a well written and interesting mystery. I enjoyed this one, even though I didn't feel that I got to know the main characters well. That is on me, for not reading the first two books.

Combine Christmas, Scotland, and a sprinkle of murder mystery, and you’ve already got me hooked! This third installment in the Scottish Isle Mystery series is a delightful read that kept me turning pages late into the night.
The festive backdrop of Sea Isle during the holidays added a magical charm, while the twisty murder plot kept me guessing. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, another twist came along to shake things up. The little sprinkle of romance woven into the story was a sweet touch, balancing the darker mystery elements.
Although I haven’t read the first two books in the series, it didn’t hinder my enjoyment at all. That said, now I’m eager to go back and start from the beginning to learn more about Dr. Emilia McRoy and the quirky Sea Isle residents.
If you love cozy mysteries with a festive twist, you’ll want to add Death at a Scottish Christmas to your holiday reading list!
Thank you to NetGalley, Lucy Connelly, and Crooked Lane Books for the ARC for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. #DeathataScottishChristmas #NetGalley

I received a complimentary ARC copy of Death at a Scottish Christmas (A Scottish Isle Mystery #3) by Lucy Connelly from Net Galley and Crooked Lane Books in order to read and give an honest review.
… well-written, cleverly plotted, well paced, with unique and dynamic characters …”
In this third installment of the “A Scottish Isle Mystery” series we are introduced to Bram the lead singer of Bram and the Stokers a famous Scottish band who hailed from Sea Isle, bringing pride to the little seaside village. The band is doing a warm up show for their US tour in the snowy festive village to friends and fans alike. When Bram’s body is found and foul play is evident, transplanted practitioner and coroner Dr. Emilia McRoy and Deputy Chief Constable Ewan Campbell set out to solve the case.
It is well-known in the village that Ewan had a history with the victim and when he becomes a suspect and word comes that an officer from outside is tasked with taking over the investigation and Emilia becomes more determined to solve the case and uncovers hidden secrets about the victim and his bandmates.
As the investigation progresses, tensions rise between Ewan and visiting Detective Inspector Bethany Thomson, another person who has a history with Ethan and does not approve of his methods. When Emilia continues investigating she notices that someone is watching her every move which not only puts her in peril but also those she cares about. The story twists and turns as another bandmate is murdered, and more pasts are revealed culminating in a satisfying ending.
I really enjoy this author and this latest entry did not disappoint. As always, I found Death at a Scottish Christmas well-written, cleverly plotted, well paced, with unique and dynamic characters who have become Emilia’s found family. In general, I love protagonists who are intelligent, strong, down to earth, yet vulnerable and Emilia is the complete package. A definite fan, I really look forward to reading more about Emilia and her friends’ experiences in Sea Isle. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an amazing cozy mystery.

I really enjoyed this cozy Christmas mystery set in a small town in Scotland. As is often the way with such mysteries, this seemingly perfect small town sees more than its share of murders. But the sleuth is so engaging, and the supporting characters so finely drawn, that this particular cozy does not disappoint. Looking forward to the next!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Death at a Scottish Christmas is the third book in this supremely entertaining cozy mystery series that began with An American
in Scotland. So much has happened
since Doctor Emilia McRoy arrived in
Sea Isle, Scotland. I have enjoyed reading each of the books so far in the series and would recommend reading in order.
In this edition of the series, it's the Christmas season, and with it, has come a rock band to visit Sea Isle. When the lead singer is found dead on the beach, Emilia and the team must investigate to discover if a murder has occurred and find the culprit.
I adore the setting of Sea Isle it seems so vividly written that I can truly picture it.
The writing overall is entertaining, and the
mystery is well crafted. This had a very
unexpected ending that I truly did not see coming. Overall, Death at a Scottish Christmas was another great entry to the series, I love getting to know these characters more and look forward to the next book.

I really liked this Christmas themed mystery set in a small town in Scotland. The protagonist is in Scotland celebrating the holidays, when she gets involved in a murder mystery. There's an Irish band with a song writer that isn't doing well, and that seems to be a big part of why the killer did what they did. I want to thank the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for giving me an e-copy of this book, in return for an honest review.

I started in the middle of the series but glad that I was able to catch up quite easily.
I loved the writing of the book and I read it in only 2 sittings. Quite engrossing with a great mystery. Though I did feel the ending to be a little rushed, I still loved it and will definitely be continuing the series.

What's not to like about a book that has merriment, mistletoe, and murder. This is the third book of this series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Love the Christmas theme, the mystery, the characters and the story itself. The magic of Sea Isle, Scotland is the perfect setting for this murder mystery.
A lead singer of a band murdered, plenty of suspects and Emilia trying to solve the mystery of not only the death/murder but what happened to the missing music? This is a fun, intriguing and mysterious story and I enjoyed it, was entertained by it and had fun reading it. This is a great cosy mystery series and as always I look forward to seeing what comes next.
Thank you NetGalley and Crooked Land Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

It is Christmas time on the Sea Isle, one of the Scottish Islands and doctor Emilia McRoy is off for the entire month. Em hasn’t had Christmas off in years much less an entire month. What is she going to do to keep busy? Thank goodness Mara, best friend and manager of the Pig & Whistle, has plenty for Em to do in the way of festivities. Jasper, friend and owner of a local bakery, says that December is an entire month of cultural events and after all, Scots love a party. The last thing that Em figured she would be doing is an autopsy and helping to solve a murder. Big time band Bram and the Stokers have agreed to play at the Pig & Whistle. It turns out that lead singer Bram and band member Render (also known as Hamish) are local boys who have made it good. Bram is a charismatic lead singer who sang beautifully, was easy on the eyes, and such the charmer. It is a pity that someone ended his life earlier than necessary; in fact he did not have much time left.
This cozy is sweet and a tiny bit tart, just like Cathan, the multi layered Scottish dessert that Em enjoys at the pub the night that the band played their last, and most amazing set. The entire band and the band’s manager Davy, agreed that the last set was magical and the all agree that they have no idea who could have killed Bram. So of course that means that the each band member is a suspect, especially Destinee, the only woman in the band who may have had feelings for Bram, feelings that weren’t taken seriously. The band manager, Davy, seems a bit cold and even Machiavellian with his ideas of how the band can continue to tour with Bram’s voice dubbed in for performances. Lastly, it seems that the Laird, Mayor, and constable, Ewan Campbell had history with Bram that included some infidelity on the part of Ewan’s then fiancée. No one believes that Ewan has anything to do with the murder, especially not the Doc, ask Ewan likes to call her, but with such a high profile case, the higher ups send Detective Inspector Bethany Thompson, to make sure the investigation is 100% by the book.
This is another well written Scottish Isle Mystery that does a great job as a stand-alone. There is plenty of backstory to explain, for the most part, why Doc Em has left Seattle and taken up as the resident doctor on Sea Isle, Scotland. Em needed to start over and she has found a new place that feels like home. Em has friends who are there for her. They are there to help investigate, although Em repeatedly states that she is only investigating the medical side of things …right (said in a drawn out way). In addition to great friends, there is the back and forth between Em and Ewan that has all the makings of a slow burn. This cozy series has all the cozy feels and an accent that is really fun to try and replicate in my mind while reading. The one thing that I was successful in creating is the Cathan recipe which was as enjoyable as this story.

Emilia, Seattle transplant to the Highlands is a combination of Quincy MD and Shetland. In her post as local doctor and coroner, she has come up against some very unusual murders. As she and her friend Mara transport the members of a popular band to Sea Isle, little did she expect she would be investigating not one but two murders. And this time constable Ewan seems willing to work with her.
The murders are very clever. The band is just about to start an American tour that will launch their careers into the stratosphere but there are forces at work underneath the surface that might destroy it all. Whilst they give the performance of their lives, problems are swirling. Could one of the band members have committed the murders? Why would they do so as the band sat on the cusp on superstardom.? Might there be someone else in the shadows. When Ewan is attacked and Emilia is followed and someone breaks into her office, the need to solve the mystery increases. When the villain is revealed, it is as much as surprise to Em as the reader when we learn the motive.
Good suspenseful story with interesting characters and a great locale. Five purrs and two paws up.

Thank you to NetGalley, Crooked Lane Books and Lucy Connelly for the opportunity to read an ARC for Death at a Scottish Christmas. This is my honest and unpaid review of the book. I am thoroughly loving this series. Each time I read one I am transported to this small Scottish village, in the snow and I wish I could actually be there. Except for the murders, it seems quite idyllic! The author always describes food in the books so I recommend having some kind of scottish delicacies on hand, or pub/ tearoom food or else you'll end up hungry. I really like the main character as she is a strong and intelligent woman who is making a new life for herself after some personal setbacks. The other characters in the book are great as they provide some colourful background to a snowy setting.

In just months American doctor Emilia McRoy has become an important part of the Sea Isle, Scotland community. She has developed friendships that have become like family. When she is asked to help transport a band that is scheduled to perform in town after their transport breaks down, it gives her a chance to meet Bram, the lead singer. The morning after their performance she finds him sitting on the cold beach. When she approaches she realizes that he is dead. McRoy is the town’s doctor and also the coroner. An examination reveals an injection site that led to an embolism. An investigator is sent from Edinburgh to take over the case from Ewan Campbell, the local constable. Ewan had a history with Bram and is considered a suspect. McCray, however, is certain that a member of the band was involved. While they were a close group, they had also been involved in arguments and fights. Bram was responsible for writing their songs, but lately he stumbled over words and forgot lyrics. The band also complained about his erratic behavior. When McRoy sends for his medical records they reveal a diagnosis that he kept from his bandmates and their manager. She has been asking questions and now she is being followed by a shadowy figure, her labs have been broken into and Ewan is attacked outside her home. A second murder tied to the band is committed in the same manner as Bram’s putting pressure on McRoy to find answers before anyone else dies.
McRoy has been drafted by one of her friends to assist with holiday celebrations. Lucy Connelly’s descriptions of the week leading up to Christmas is filled with songs, food and holiday lights. While there are threats against McRay’s safety, her friends are there for her and Ewan, who she considers a close friend, leaves her feeling that there may be more between them than friendship. It is a relationship that is developing and I can not wait for their next adventure. With warm friendships and holiday cheer, along with a mystery that keeps you guessing, this is a perfect holiday treat. I would like to thank NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for providing this book.

Excellent installment in one of my go-to cozy series. I thought the mystery was really good and well paced and definitely kept me guessing. Great read!

Enjoyed this one very much, another great cozy mystery from author Lucy Connelly. Never disappoints, highly recommend

I love this series and all the characters, the setting is so cozy and I love Scotland! It's one of my favorite series so I hope it goes for a while and doesn't end to soon!
