I always enjoy a good Nora Roberts novel. I read the first in this series and enjoyed it. This book picks up right where the other left off, which is good. I connected with the main characters and the side characters so much that I teared up a few times. The only issue I had was that there was a lot of repetition in this novel. We spend a lot of time with various characters experiencing the event, then with other characters as they are filled in on what happened.
Once again Roberts pulled me into this series, and I felt that I was walking through the Mirror with Sonya and Owen. The adventure never stopped with the hauntings of the mansions, reliving the deaths of the brides and the relationship between Sonya and Trey and the growing on with Cleo and Owen. In this second installment you are given a more in-depth look at each of the bride’s death and how they are now communicating with Sonya and Owen and so much more. I am really enjoying seeing the characters get stronger and willing to continue to live in the mansion and enjoy the special hauntings that are there. You also have Dobbs showing herself more, causing havoc around the mansion and threatening Sonya. Sonya is trying to figure out a way that she can destroy Dobbs and return the rings to the brides. I highly recommend this series and can’t wait for the last and final book. Another outstanding series from Roberts. She never disappoints. Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for providing me with an advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is an exciting series and I am thoroughly enjoying it and looking forward to the last book. I enjoy reading about the ghosts at the Manor and learning more details about them and their place and/or job at the Manor and their time period. Sonya and Cloe are dealing well with the witch Hester Dobbs and making her life miserable also. They are building a life there and interacting with the locals. Sonya is trying to learn as much about the brides and trying to figure out how they can get the brides rings back from Dobbs and break the curse. I enjoyed reading about Sonya’s ex-financee finally getting what he was due after the way he treated Sonya. The big Event of inviting all of their family, friends and the locals at Pooles Bay was a success. Can’t wait until the last book comes out to see what transpires next with Sonya, Trey, Cloe, Owen, the ghosts of the Manor and Hester Dobbs. Also wondering if the ex-finance of Sonya appears again to cause some trouble.
First off I didn't realize this was the second book in a trilogy. However, I didn't feel super lost as a sort of backstory was included in this book. I will be picking up the first book in order to formally meet the characters, though. I love that this book crosses multiple genres and included some magic, time travel, and mystery.
Mirror is the second book in the trilogy of The Lost Brides series. Nora Roberts is a phenomenal writer but this book was a bit boring at times. Mirror rehashed many of the things we had already learned about in the first book, The Inheritance. This book does begin to pick up speed half-way through the second part of the book. Nora Roberts has utilized her more recent series to showcase deepening relationships between her characters, which I enjoy. Even though I enjoyed the first book more, I would still recommend people read this book in the series, simply for the character development of the living and the cursed souls.
I am very much looking forward to the final book in the series,
Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for allowing me to read this title for an honest review.
Although I felt this wasn't the most extremely climactic book plot wise compared to Inheritance, it still moved the series forward and introduced so many new small stories with side characters. We dove deeper into each bride and the backstory of the series plot as a whole. I was engaged the entire time and loving it.
I love how illustrative this series is. You can feel yourself in Poole's Bay. This is the absolute perfect book for the fall season, curled up with a cup of hot tea on a rainy day. This is why Nora Roberts is one of my favorite romantic suspense authors, she just completely draws you in. If you want to find yourself falling in love with a cozy cape town atmosphere, a whole manor full of love (with a twist), a few love stories, found family, and a whole host of ghosts, all while being on the edge of your seat of mystery, read this series. Lord, the cliffhanger with these two books! Definitely read book number 1 in the series first (Inheritance) Such a great book and series!
Enjoyed the continuation of the characters for this Trilogy. Patrons at the library are ready for the next in the series.
The Mirror
By Nora Roberts
If you are a Nora Roberts fan, you will like this book. It involves magic, time travel, good and evil – in short all the hallmarks of many of her books.
This is the third in a trilogy concerning a "haunted" mansion and a series of brides who die either on their wedding day or shortly thereafter. Is it a curse? What lies behind this cycle of love and loss through the generations of the Poole family of Poole Bay?
This book tells the story of the current generation of Pooles – two cousins, Sonya and Owen, who, together with their love interests, team up to defeat the witch who is destroying the Poole brides.
Somewhat typical of Nora Roberts book, it still makes for an interesting read.
The Lost Bride trilogy continues with book #2, picking up right where book #1 left us. As the core cast of characters continue to investigate the legacy of the Lost Brides, the surrounding community has welcomed the newcomers to their hearts, while Hester Dobbs, the villianous ghost behind the deaths of seven brides works to evict any and all from the manor.
Nora Roberts is a prolific author of many series and stand alone books. She crosses genre boundaries and often mixes genre together to keep her fans spellbound and coming back for more. Whether you love romances, thrillers, mysteries, paranormal or just great stories that defy definition, Nora Roberts should be on your TBR list and The Lost Bride trilogy should be read and shared with your reading friends and clubs.
I am so in love with Nora Roberts books, and I’m so happy that this book has kept that love going. I was waiting for the resolution of the cliffhanger from the first in this series, and am glad I finally got to read it! Sonja, Cleo, Trey, and Owen are right back in the middle of the fight against Hester Dobbs. We get to see more personal glimpses of the seven brides, along with the families of all involved. You absolutely need to read the first book in the series before this, which I guarantee you will love. Highly recommended.
Like Book 1 in the Lost Bride Manor Trilogy, Book 2, The Mirror, will suck you in and leave you wanting more. Nora Roberts is a master of spinning an interconnected story. This one will be un you through your emotions for sure. But you'll keep coming back because like Sonya, you have to know, you have to see. My favorite part of The Mirror is watching the four deepen their bonds, from Sonya to Trey and Cleo to Owen. But my favorite is really watching Owen break out of his shell a little. I loved seeing him open to letting Sonya in and how reluctant he was that he has found his one in Cleo. The conversation between him and Trey, first on the shore and then in his workshop made me laugh at his reluctance and respect that he knows himself that well. I never wanted to put it down and I hate to have to wait for Book 3, even though I know it will be worth it! Well done! This is one of my favorite reads of the year to date!
Can I say just how much I just love Nora's trilogies? After Inheritance ended on a cliffhanger, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book and it didn't disapppoint. With just the right amount of spookyness, romance, and heart, this is a perfect follow-up to the first novel. We get to learn more about the lost brides and Dobbs and also spend more time with Sonya, Cleo, and Trey's families. I can't wait for the third book to come out!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc.
Nora Roberts' talent at capturing the mystery and paranormal never seem to fade, book 2 holding me in as firm a grip as the first. Ending on a chiffhanger, I'm a little sad but looking forward to reading book 3 the minute it's released. There's a reason I 1-click on every story with her name on it. This is a book for lovers of paranormal, mystery, and suspenseful romance. The cast of characters feel both freah and familiar. I can't wait to finish this series.
I was excited to receive a complimentary copy of The Mirror by Nora Roberts from NetGalley. Opinions in this review are completely my own.
Nora Roberts is one of my favourite authors and every time she comes out with a new book, I immediately want to read it. Her trilogies are my favourite. The only issue I see with reading an ARC for this book is that I will now have to wait even longer for the third book in this series.
I absolutely loved this book! The friendships between Sonya and Cleo and Owen and Trey make me yearn for this type of friendship where it feels like family. I love how they all hang out with each other and have dinner together and enjoy each other's company. All of the characters are so real and I want them to be my friends. I enjoyed seeing a little more of their families in this novel. As well, I love how they interact with the ghosts through music with Clover, things coming up from storage in the dumbwaiter from Molly, etc.
I cannot wait to see how they banish Dobbs from the Manor and how they get the rings back and what happens to the ghosts once the witch is gone. I am a bit concerned as her powers seem pretty strong with how she was able to get rid of some of the Poole brides. I'm curious why she wants to be the Lady of the Manor so badly...
That said, I keep thinking I need to draw out a family tree for the Pooles because I keep getting confused of which bride belongs with which groom and when they were alive. I can see myself flipping back and forth to this anytime they go through the Mirror.
Welcome back to Lost Bride Manor. The Mirror starts where Inheritance ended, so be sure to start there. Nora Roberts does an excellent job of winding the paranormal with everyday occurrences of living in the Manor, so if you don't believe in it, it makes you wonder why. I especially love the music provided by Clover. I'm eagerly awaiting the conclusion of the trilogy, where everyone, human and ghost alike, will hopefully receive their HEAs.
This is the second book in the #LostBride Trilogy by @norarobertsauthor I was fortunate to have received an #arc from @netgalley While I'm not what my friends would consider to be a paranormal reader I love stories that have hints of ghosts, and other supernatural aspects. That being said, #thelostbridetrilogy fits my reading tastes 100% Sonya is continuing to make the manor hers, but to the dismay of the ghost who has put a curse on the manor. The other spirits who inhabit the home are on Sonya's side and do what they can to assist her. I typically find the second book in a trilogy to be what I consider a bridge book...something to get me from the introduction of book one to the conclusion of book three, but The Mirror is most definitely not a bridge book. It's full of action, intrigue, humor, and romance. As Sonya, Cleo, Trey and Owen start bonding, and working together more and more they're getting closer to finding ways to break the curse. The masterful Roberts gives you just enough hints about those ways to make you satisfied, but also angry at how long you as a reader needs to wait for the final installment. Since both Inheritance and The Mirror are clear the schedule reads, I can only anticipate that the third will be as well. #trilogy #paranormalromance #suspense #nobookmarkneeded
This is the second book in the Lost Brides trilogy and it didn’t disappoint. More family stories and more Ghosts. Who wouldn’t love a ghost that cleans your house and does your dishes. I especially loved Clover and her musical selections. I can’t wait for the last book to see how Sonya finds the rings.
The second book in this new series builds on the first. It is lively, romantic,
complex and endlessly entertaining with an ending that makes me want to wish away a year of my life!
Nora Roberts does not disappoint.
I know there are clues here but I don't know what they are. I love this town and the characters.
I was happy to be able to read the second installment in this series. I felt it was a lot of recitation of what happened in the first book, so by that accord, someone who had not read the first book could easily start here and have a solid understanding of what was going on within the story. So I, personally, would have preferred more newer content, but I still enjoyed this book nonetheless. This was a lot of fun as it had a great mix of the ghostly brides and everyday life, romance and friendship. This book also did a great job of building anticipation for the third installment.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The Mirror is the second installment in the Lost Brides trilogy. I couldn’t wait to read this book and now I’m sorry I did because I’m gonna have to wait longer to read the final portion of this trilogy.
Nora Roberts The Mirror picks up where the Inheritance ended - Sonya and Owen stepping into the elusive mirror portal to the past. They enter as present day ghosts and relive the horrific history of.Lost Bride Manor.
Sonya and Trey step up their relationship. Cleo moves into the manor and evil Dobbs isn’t having it.
No, this doesn’t fall into the second bookitis category. We learn a lot more about relationships, old and new and how those relationships color, the life of the manor.
I enjoyed this book and look forward to the final installment of this trilogy. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this advance copy.
