I had binged Tracy’s entire Crave series so when this was handed to me I was THRILLED and ready to dive in.

This was everything I wanted and more. It has danger, thrills and some romance. Clementine and Jude are both likable with their own flaws and depth. I loved the characters that were brought in from the Crave series as well.

The family drama, the overall darker vibes this book gives off compared to her other books was a wonderful touch. Still a little confused how they managed to withstand hurricane force winds but beyond that I felt the plot was well thought out and reasonably well written.

I hadn't read anything by Tracey Wolff before but I have heard of the crave series. The blurb drew me and I enjoyed how this book was written. It was slow to start with but it has twists and turns that I didn't see coming.
I feel anyone who loved the Craved series will absolutely love this one

I have... all the questions after reading Sweet Nightmare. What is it about these characters that gives them super abilities to withstand hurricane force winds (fake hurricane notwithstanding)? Why exactly didn't they evacuate BEFORE the rain began? Why aren't all of their parents more concerned by the mortality rate at this school? Is there any authority figure at this school at all?

Overall, this story felt rushed and overly packed. Too many plot lines, too many characters, just too much overall. And at the end of the day, I'd have to suspend entirely too much disbelief to let this book stand.

When I saw that I was gifted this one I literally screamed. I owe Tracy so much, she helped me so much in re discovered my love for romantasy and paranormal.
In this new book we have a new and old world, a new and old setting but always the feeling to be at home.

This was soo different than Tracy's others series that at first I thought okay where are we going with this. What am I in for? Then I could not put it down. It was phenomenal. I loved how deliciously dark it was. I can't wait for the rest of this series.

I really loved reading this book! This book is a must read! Tracy Wolff is one of the authors that I automatically preorder books as soon as it pops up on my feed and never disappoints.

Following might contain spoilers. I received eARC and this is my honest opinion.

As I was reading, I wanted to know more about Jude and his past and why he was so distant to Clementine. I related to Clementine and her story. It felt like it was a bit darker than Crave series and more mysterious creatures which was very interesting to me. And the weather… I knew something was fishy! I also ended up downloading audiobook to get the full experience and correct pronunciation of names and places.

The conflict between family and characters and how it unfolded at the end was brilliant! I couldn’t guess the ending. Wow! Wow!! I can’t wait till the next book in series. I am sure I have to reread it to find all the easter eggs Tracy hidden which is always fun! Also, please tell us more about Jude and his past and abilities!

It was so nice to see Remy and Izzy from Crave series too. I can’t wait to hear more about their story as well in next book. Remy is such a mysterious character. He knows so much yet he can’t tell… (I wonder that’s how Tracy feels like.) I love it.

I won an eBook of Sweet Nightmare from the publisher. I wasn’t too sure what this book was about because I hadn’t read the synopsis.
I enjoyed the first parts of the book, I’m a sucker for a school setting and to have a “reform school for the paranormal” yes sold. I just feel like overall the plot wasn’t thought out well enough for me and there were a lot of random things added that did nothing for the story. The school wasn’t really explained well, I don’t really know that criteria for the students to end up there. We just know their powers are “shut off” when they are admitted. We are introduced to a bunch of characters/ monsters/ students but none of their powers or their actual creature selves are explained. And the author basically kills of half of the characters for no reason. Our main character is being punished and we have no idea why, besides it seems like her mother who also is the headmaster appears to hate her. We later learn maybe why but it also isn’t explained at all. And then there’s her friends the lovers to enemies to lovers ex boyfriend who they reunite in this story, but it’s briefly touched on but again not really. And then they all of a sudden become mated at the end, agin the mating bond not explained at all just thrown in there and then not talked about again. Clementine also can see ghosts but hasn’t told anyone at all, so again something else just thrown in with no explanation, and then we learn something at the end that maybe has to do with it but doesn't actually explain if it does or not. There was just so much introduced and never hashed out to the reader that it made this read kind of a mess.
I don’t personally think that I would read more from this author or recommend her work based off of this book. And I’m not going to grab book two and hope that everything gets explained.

Due to the recently discovered issue with the copy&paste of phrases, I am sorry but I will not be reading any books by this author.
I know the allegations are related to Crave, but I did not like the idea of reading something by an author that is stealing consciously from other authors...
I hope the author will come forward with a response and they will make sure to do better in the future.

Welcome to Calder Academy, where the juvenile outcast paranormals are trapped on an isolated island. Vamps, werewolves, witches, dark fae, and more, oh my. Clementine has a target on her back due to being a Calder and her mom running the school with an icy iron fist. Clementine just wants to keep her head down, graduate, and figure out a way to leave the island she was raised on once and for all. But when a violent storm hits the island, she must band together with other students and they must face their worst nightmares wide awake.

🐍🗡️🐍🗡️🐍

Given this is the first in a series, it is a little slow to start with the required world building necessary to understand the story but it picked up and I enjoyed it towards the middle/end when I finally understood what nightmares had to do with the plot and there was so much more action. I loved the romance aspects dabbled in and it wasn’t too YA for me at all. Ending was a little cliffhanger-y. I look forward to the rest in this series!

3.5/5 stars rounded up ⭐️

Thank you so much to Entangled Teen, Tracy, NetGalley for the e-galley! Y’all have got me out of my comfort zone and on a fantasy kick lately 🗡️✨

For fans of Crave series, this is not about the good kids, this is the one for the troubled ones.

I really enjoyed reading this story that yes is similar to the Crave series, but Calder isn't the fantastic castle that Katmere Academy inhabits, this is an island prison (former sanitarium - hospital) that is facing a hurricane. And the people in charge are not the good guys, Clementine knows this better than just about anyone, her mother runs the school, and still sentences her to feeding the nightmare creatures in the basement of the admin building. Clementine just wants to graduate and get off the island she's never been able to leave. That and get away from her former best friend Jude. But with a hurricane headed for the island and the strange power surges that are happening (kids are getting their magic back and losing control), she may have to depend on the best friend that ghosted her, while also dealing with her feelings.

This is a very fast paced story that takes place over a couple of days and features lots of strange magics, abilities, a tapestry, horrible nightmares, snarky teens, and the banter that Tracy has perfected.

Book 1 in The Calder Academy series

I'm not even sure where to begin. First and foremost, loved it! Tracy stole my heart with her Crave series. Now she's created an entirely new set of characters and setting within this spin-off series which did play host to a couple characters from the Crave books.

Sweet Nightmare is a truly delicious, sweet and tangy second chance fantasy romance with a side of nightmarish monsters that'll have you checking under the bed and in the closet for days; but it's also packed with a ton of humor and some of the most swoon-worthy lines. Based in an academy setting, this book contains a lot characters; however, they are easy to keep separate. Each one is well-crafted and show a relationship development throughout the pages. The world building is intricately detailed and precise. The storyline is captivating. So excited to see what lies ahead for future books.

"The thing about nightmares is sometimes they end. Sometimes dawn breaks across the sky. Sometimes the sun rises over the ocean. And sometimes, if you're lucky, the girl you love finds you before you can lose yourself completely."

Overall, I enjoyed the book. I like the new take on this school, and I thought it was cool that more paranormals were introduced. I did think that things happened a little too fast and that pacing was a little off. It felt like this book was just setting up the series but instead of doing a data dump it crafted a loose story around itself. It’s an interesting approach and while I didn’t love the execution, I did enjoy it. I’m interested enough to see what happens in book 2.

4🌟 I loved this story almost as much as I did the Crave series books, only my Hudson love keeps me from saying I liked it more. I can’t wait to see where this series goes. I really enjoyed seeing more of the side characters from the Crave series. Found family, adventure, magical beings, and fated mates, say no more I’ll read anything Tracy Wolff writes!

Thank you NetGalley, Entangled Teen, and Entangled Publishing for the eARC of Sweet Nightmare by Tracy Wolff in exchange for my honest review.

It's magnificent, I could leave this post there but we all know I won't. I had really high expectations for this book and it surpassed them all.

Before I get into what I loved (yes it's a 5 star read all day long) I'm just going to say, read it, order a copy, reserve it from the library, download an e-book however you get your books, this one is worth every single second you'll put into it.

Now we all know I love a good gothic setting, and gothic academia... well I'm in a phase right now and this book played right into it with the perfect blending of what is real and what you're afraid might be real.

With a cast of characters that I can't see being written any other way, I got to the end and realized what was set up (in my mind at least) to happen in book two and now all I can do is think that what happens in Tracy Wolffs brain is fascinating, terrifiying and brilliant all at the same time.

While I loved the Crave series there was something about this book that just tugged at me, I wouldn't say its the story or the characters, the love or the losses, it's the entire book, any one part of it would be wonderful but together there's just a feel to it that transports you, makes you wonder what if, and makes you terrified and excited to see what can happen when you close your eyes.

While I know I have an advance copy and things could still change, I have to say that there is one line, at the end of chapter eighteen that snuck into my mind and will now live rent free in my brain forever, and I really hope it's in the print copy of the book because that one line, it's just everything and sums the entire book up perfectly.

All of this to say I love this book, I can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy, I can't wait to reread it every time a new book comes out and I can't wait to be able to talk to people about it becase damn this book is good.

Thank you to Entangled for providing an advance copy, I have voluntarily read and reviewed it and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book wasn’t my favorite. The plot was both rushed but also so slow. I’m hopeful that since it’s the first in a series, the best is yet to come, especially knowing Remy will be there.

I did not love this book, but I also didn’t hate it.

This was my first book by Tracy Wolff, and while they say you don’t need to read the Crave Series, you definitely do need to. This is more of a spinoff.

There were a lot of things happening. Many different plot points, so that kept it interesting. But all in all, without reading the Crave Series, I think this one is a bit tough to get into.

Amazing as always. Absolutely love Tracy Wolff and her gift at pulling you into a new world. Loved how it pieced together some of the questions you have from original spinoff

This book was so amazing!!! I was doing a group read and it was impossible for me to not read ahead of our planned chapters each day. I had so much to do around the house, but when I got home from work all I wanted to do was read. The writing was fabulous, I loved the characters and the detailing.
