Cassie and Jon move to a gorgeous new home with their darling son, Teddy. All begins on the right foot until Cassie meets Amy. We find out that Amy has a dark past. She ends up dog-sitting for the family. Sirens are going off when it comes to Amy, but Cassie is clueless. We then find out that the husband grew up in their new house. He forgot to mention it. Oh yeah, there was a murder that took place years ago at the house. This book kept me engaged. The narration was A+.

This is the first book I have read/listened to by this author, I liked the plot but was a bit slow in parts but it was an easy quick listen and I would be interested to see what else the writes. The narrator was ok but I did listen to this at 2.0 speed. Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for this e-audio arc.

I had the audiobook of this psychological thriller read by Kristin Atherton and Emma Swann. I found it disconcerting when the narrators read the other parts I struggled to work out who was talking.

Cassie,Jon and Teddy downsize into his parents house following his father’s death. Cassie determined to return to work needs a dog walker and a child minder, and considers herself lucky to find Amy on her first day at the new house.

The book is full of secrets and cover ups. It starts slower but solidly, then the pace really ramps up with plenty of tension and revelations.

I didn’t like either Cassie or Jon to start with, although I changed my mind about Cassie as the book progressed.

I really enjoyed it, it kept me entertained throughout.

This book wasn’t as on the edge of your seat thrilling as I normally enjoy. It wasn’t unique. It was like every other thriller out there in terms of someone doing something in their past as teenagers and someone from their past catches up to them and ruins their lives.

I’ve been reading/listening to this trope too often I think. I did finish this audiobook, and it kept me engaged enough to listen fully.

The narrator was ok! I listened at 2x speed

All in all, this wasn’t an audiobook to get me out of my slump, but it also wasn’t horrible.

Sinister and twisty! Cassie, Jon and their little son, Teddy, move into Jon's childhood home and very soon, Cassie makes friends with local woman, Amy, and takes her on as their dog walker. It is clear that Amy has an agenda, but we have to wait to find out what her game is, and what a game! I was gripped, needing to know more about Amy as we got hints about her background and I was intrigued about the neighbour, Rebecca, too. Do she and Jon have history from their teenage years?

I felt sorry for Cassie - she is very much controlled by Jon and I was cheering her on as she stood her ground and refused to let him hold her back when she decided to return to work.

An absolute rollercoaster of a ride with so many reveals and brilliant twists, my head was spinning, right to the end!

I listened to the audiobook and the narration by Kristin Atherton and Emma Swan was excellent. multiple narrators make a huge difference for me, especially when they are both great at the job!

4.5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Maria Franklin and Bookouture, for an ARC in return for an honest review.

I Let Her In was a great popcorn domestic / psychological thriller. I found that I was hooked right from the start of the story and just couldn’t let up until I knew the truth.

This story is told in a dual POV through the eyes of Cassie and Amy. I am not going to lie, all of the characters are unlikeable. Cassie is a bit too naive for my liking; Jon, Cassie’s husband, is a controlling, gaslighing jerk; Amy just throws off stalker vibes 24/7 and Becca is just a bitch, there’s really no other word to describe her. What keeps you hooked to this story is how the past is catching up to these characters.

I Let Her In is a fast paced, twisty read that will keep you on the edge of your seat! I really enjoyed this one. There are some perfectly timed twists that are pretty shocking. The ending was absolutely wild and I absolutely loved where Frankland went with this one.

I listened to this one via audiobook and Kristin Atherton and Emma Swan were great! They did such a phenomenal job with each character that they played and they really made this one suspenseful and overall a great listen. If you’re thinking of picking this one up – I highly recommend the audiobook.

I Let Her In is releasing on 3/19 – be sure to check this one out. Huge thank you to NetGalley, Maria Frankland and Bookouture Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for allowing me the opportunity to listen to this audiobook early.
This book was my first of this author's and it will not be my last!
The premise is trust within the marriage. What happens in the past and should that affect the present?
When you begin to question the trust, in what seems to others as a perfect couple, with a perfect relationship, , thats when everything starts to fall apart, Nobody is perfect. Are they? This domestic pschological drama is brilliantly written, the characters are solid.
The narrators intonation and pace matched the book.
If your looking for a psychological/thriller audio.....grab this!

Thank you to NetGalley for the audio book I Let Her In by Maria Frankland.

Cassie is relieved to be moving into their new home - the childhood home of her husband Jon. At their old house she kept imagining that someone was spying on her and she was always anxious when her husband was away from home for long time periods due to his work.
However ,as soon as they move in, she starts to feel like she is being watched again. Jon thinks she is being paranoid. She takes their dog, Suki, and her young toddler, Teddy, to the dog park and meets Amy there. They strike up a conversation and soon they are chatting like best friends. Cassie asks whether she could recommend a dog walker as she will be starting her new job soon and Amy agrees to be the dog walker.

What we soon find out is that Amy knows way too much about Jon. Then one afternoon Teddy is taken from his nursery. What is he a bargaining chip for?

I listened to the audio version of this. The FMC Cassie gave me Bridget Jones vibes. She was just so open, lovable, and trusting. But also stubborn and a bit dramatic. I hated her husband from the jump and knew that ONE of the new neighbors had to be up to something.

I enjoyed this story but it wasn't special. It was entertaining in a way that a Sunday afternoon Lifetime Network suspense keeps you captivated.

I'm interested in reading more books by this author.

After the death of John’s mother they move in to her home and Cassie couldn’t be happier where they lived before she had some very scary and traumatic things that happened it’s just too bad John doesn’t believe her. In any event the very first night in their new home the dog starts growling alerting Cassie to the fact she hears something outside The John proves unless he hears or season it it isn’t happening and he tells this to Cassie. They move on in a few days after moving and Cassie meets Amy and she couldn’t be happier she was hoping to make friends with their neighbor who is around her age but the woman acts aloof. Cassie soon starts a new job and due to her and Amy’s sudden closeness she ask Amy to walk the dog at 10 and three so when Casey shows up at one in the afternoon and Amy is not only there but upstairs Cassie is a little miffed at finding her but when Amy lies and says she heard something upstairs Cassie immediately gets serious and said “what did you hear?” Amy is shocked to see how serious Cassie is taking this, but blows it off just happy that God her out of being caught snooping in their house. When John sees Amy for the first time there is something very familiar about her and when he asked did they meet before she says no it seems Amy does know this family Casey isn’t sure about her new friend and with the way the neighbor is acting it seems moving to this new village isn’t the great starting over she thought it would be especially since she still hearing people or something outside and knows someone is watching her, but when her son goes missing she knows that is not her imagination. Before it’s over Casey will get all the answers she needs and someone in her life will not be who she thought they were at all. Is it too late to take her son and run for safety or is the person who’s been watching her ready to show their self? I have been reading Maria Franklin‘s books since our very first book which was her autobiography and for the most part I have always loved her books and although this one has a great plot I thought Cassie was very whiny and John was just an out and out jack ass. I just want to mention I listen to the audiobook and thought that the two narrators did really well and thought they were both great and sounded professional with great character distinction. Having said that however I will still read Maria Franklin‘s books because she is more on point then not even when the characters are unlikable the plot keeps you turning the pages. I want to thank Bookoucher audio and net galley for my free Ark copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

I really liked this. I don’t think the writing was always the most polished - like it often felt like the author was bashing you about the head with some ideas sometimes but the plot was really interesting and the characters likeable and invested in

I'm constantly scouring NetGalley for Audiobooks that might appeal to either my Nonfiction or Guilty pleasure taste.

I absolutely chose this book by its cover, and while I wasn't disappointed, I also didn't LOVE this one

I Let Her In is the story of a young, wealthy couple who return to the husband's childhood home following the death of his mother. We quickly learn that the wife, Cassie, is from less affluent means and is planning to return to work despite her husband, John's protests. John is a caricature of an uptight, high-performing man. He insists Cassie always dress nicely, put on makeup and style her hair. He also buys all of her designer clothes and she finds this unappealing. She doesn't recognize it as controlling. Cassie also alludes to having been stalked, or followed at their last home and is happy to be in this new environment.

While taking her son to the park, Cassie meets Amy, another young woman in the area who quickly ingratiates herself and becomes hired as their dog walker. Despite John's controlling nature and her history of stalking, Cassie gives Amy a key to the house as well as the alarm code. Then Cassie has Amy pick Teddy up from the carer's home when. he has a fever. Cassie is just too naive to be real. John is too nefarious. Amy is either a genius or the luckiest creep ever.

Things get all messy and then Amy steals Teddy. It really makes no sense. There is a decent twist that I didn't predict but even so...the characters in this one are just too simple and unfaceted. Solid Meh.

I didn't love the narration. I wasn't sure who it was, but one of the narrators had a voice that didn't jive with me. The story itself was pretty good. None of the characters were enjoyable although I think that was the point. Tons of drama and suspicious characters to carry the plot along.

~audio review~

This was a fast paced, quick listen. I am very picky on my audio, and I did unfortunately find a few of the voices to be a little grating and it took some time to get used to.

The story was good, some twists predictable but others I didn't see coming which is always nice! I wasn't able to connect with any of the characters, they were pretty unlikable, but that's not always necessary with a thriller. Overall, a pretty solid listen.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for the ARC copy.

I let her in
By Maria Frankland
🌟 2.5/5 audiobook 🎧

“I tread quietly up the plush carpeted stairs. There’s no-one here to see me as Cassie and Jon’s bedroom door creaks gently open. I’ve watched them from afar for so long. Now I’m finally in their house. But there’s no time to waste. I’m here for a reason, and I’m going to get what I came for, whatever the cost…”

My first book by Maria Frankland it was sometimes enjoyable, often times frustrating and overall I found it fairly predictable. I thought the writing for the most part was pretty decent but all of the characters were very unlikable and the wife was incredibly naive and frustrating. Some of her thoughts and assumptions were nonsensical I understand the author was going for gas lighting but I think it was overdone. By the end I was ready for it to be over, I felt it dragged on a little. I didn’t hate this book but I really didn’t like it much either.

Loved the voice narration by Kristin Atherton and Emma Swan! I can’t praise it enough, this was the best part of the book in my honest opinion.

I would read this author again I liked her writing I just wanted better more believable characters.

I Let Her In by Maria Frankland
(Narrated by Kristin Atherton, Emma Swan)

Book overview
I tread quietly up the plush carpeted stairs. There’s no-one here to see me as Cassie and Jon’s bedroom door creaks gently open. I’ve watched them from afar for so long. Now I’m finally in their house. But there’s no time to waste. I’m here for a reason, and I’m going to get what I came for, whatever the cost…

I open the front door and there’s Amy, smiling sweetly and ready to help. She’s been a lifesaver since Jon and I moved here – from walking the dog to picking up my little son Teddy from nursery last minute. I’m so lucky we met in the playground the first day we arrived. Amy is more than just a good friend. My only friend, really.

Whenever Amy and Jon exchange glances I’m sure it seems like they’ve met before, even though Jon swears they haven’t. But then again Jon recognises lots of people from his childhood round here without truly knowing them. I’ve put it out of my mind. Just like my fear of being watched. I need to remember I’m safe now.

But today, when I turn up at Teddy’s nursery, I learn I was so, so wrong. The teacher tells me Amy picked him up an hour ago. Now they have both disappeared.

This was my first book from Maria Frankland. I would absolutely listen to other books my this author. I enjoyed this audiobook. It was fast paced and well written I could imagine every part of the book as I listen along. The domestic thriller really had some twist at the end that I did not see coming.

The ending had me shock!! I thought I knew what was going to happened but then the twist! WOW!

The narrators of this audiobook were perfectly cast. The excitement and anxious energy of their voices were spot on to how I imagine the characters to be.

Thank you to Bookouture Audio, NetGalley and Author for the opportunity to listen to this book.

This fast paced domestic thriller really had my heart pounding! It was a super easy read and I really liked the twists

Cassie has clearly been gaslit by her husband. She wears designer clothes and makeup she’s uncomfortable in, feels guilty about wanting to go back to work and has no idea about her husbands secretive past

When they move back to John’s childhood home, Cassie’s curiosity peaks. John isn’t happy about that and also dislikes her new friend Amy - Amy has a lot of secrets and I kinda loved her!

I loved Kristin Atherton’s narration as Amy, full of resentment but with a fiery passion. Emma Swan’s Cassie frustrated me as I really do struggle with women that don’t stand up to gaslighting (maybe I need a chat with my therapist about my own past trauma!) obviously not the narrators fault!

Handsome husband John apparently had charm, but there was little evidence of this in the book and basically came across as an aggressive, dismissive, egotistical douche - perhaps if the charm was more evident, I’d have been more accepting of Cassie… either way their personalities grated on me and definitely effected my rating

However, I’m excited to have discovered a new to me author and can’t wait to read Maria Frankland’s backlog of thrillers!

This book was great. I was hooked from the beginning. I’d forgotten how much I love domestic thrillers and this was a great reminder. It’s slow burn, as they say, but well-paced and entertaining all the way through. Loved the narration.

I do think a dual timeline situation would’ve strengthened the storyline and added some depth to the characters. Just my opinion. On another note, this book would make a great mini-series.

I Let Her In was my first Maria Frankland novel but I'll definitely be checking out her others. Highly recommend.

4.4 rounded down to 4.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for the arc.

I pretty much despised every character I came across. Cassie is way too naive, trusting and timid and just makes you want to shout at her while everyone else drives you up the wall with their inexplicable behaviour. All of which adds up to make this and great listen.

Thanks to #NetGalley and #BookoutureAudio for the book #ILetHerIn by #MariaFrankland. This book is full of regrets, revenge and secrets surrounding a decade old murder. Was the right person punished? Why all the secrets? The non stop action kept me on edge until the very end and plot twist. Loved it and highly recommend.
