I almost DNFd this book. It seemed boring and I’m still not truly convinced I should have pushed through. I am in the fence.
The word “noob” is used relentlessly after the 6th time I had had enough. Also, these are the most human acting vampires I have ever read about. Nothing truly makes them stand out as mysterious or otherworldly like most vampire novels normally would. It made them kind of boring.
Did I hate the book? No, but I didn’t love it either. I am intrigued enough to read the next book to see what happens.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.

This book was a bit of a clusterf×ck, but it had potential so I still finished it. The potential never really came around tho. Oh well.
The characters are flat, don't make a whole lot of sense, and have no chemistry. The plot, if it can even be called that, was flat and all over the place. And the word NOOB was used way too many times. Call them newbies or fledglings, but not noobs. It sounds so juvenile.
Aileen, our main female character, is a quiet little mouse that let's her so called friends walk all over her in the beginning, but as soon as she's turned into a vampire she's sassy, rude, and a pain in the behind. Granted, I liked the sass much more than the mouse, but still, a character can't just do a 180 like that.
The more I write about this book the less I believe there was actually any potential there. Guess I was just being a disaster tourist watching the trainwreck happening... Giving it two stars.

Major wattpad energy with the writing style of this book. Great world building. Wouldn't be my first pick for a romantasy book but if you need the fix maybe this is for you

I binged this book in a day. The story is intriguing and the MMC is probably my favorite character in this book.
That being said the first 20% was rough and I almost DNF’ed. It gets better as the story progresses, significantly more so but it still needs some refining. IMO, the story has a lot of potential.
The FMC and love interest have such good chemistry. Their scenes are intense and I really looked forward to those. I ate them up and couldn't stop reading when FMC and MMC were in the same scene.
Things I wish were done differently:
I wish Aileen opened up to Ragnor just a tiny bit so we could see their relationship evolve. It doesn't need to be her entire life story, I get the point is she doesn't want to share but something.
The FMC is insufferable in the early stages of the story, there was a lot of whining and I couldn’t grasp who the main character was as an individual since it changed once the story kicked in. Given her circumstances in the first few chapters she’s too concerned with Cassidy instead of trying to figure out what’s going on around her. That’s so bizarre and strange especially since we as readers are told she doesn’t care for her and neither does Cassidy.
You’d think since the book is in first person view, that we as readers would know more about Aileen but we really don’t. I really wish it was in third person like the couple of Ragnor’s POVs we get. It would be soo much better IMO.
The word noob is overused throughout the book and comes off as very childish especially when it’s said by a very old vampire.
I’m sure there are other adjectives in the dictionary that could accomplish what that word is supposed to instead it was off putting.
Lastly, at the end of the book Ragnor’s full name is dropped, based on the way it’s written we as readers are supposed to have some sort of emotional impact at that but it doesn’t connect to anything that we've been told so far so why is his full name mentioned?
I’m soo confused. I feel like I’m supposed to gasp at the gravity of his full name but I’m not because it wasn’t explained.
I think there's a book two and I'll probably read it because I want to see what happens with the two main characters.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author and publisher for allowing me to review an advanced copy of this book.
I love reading books set in vampire worlds and this really hooked me in, it's a fresh take and really original in terms of world building, hierarchies and power levels.
I was absolutely intrigued by this and I can't really compare this to anything else I've read. I've so many questions in my head about the main character Aileen after finishing this. It's great to have a story to really captivate me and provoke so many thoughts for me
I'm looking forward to what comes next in the series!

Turned against her will, Aileen becomes a vampire and is thrust straight into an office with a 9-5 and a 3 month training course. It's certainly novel, but not necessarily exciting stuff.
I had a lot of problems reading this - the characters and their backgrounds don't match up at all to their actions and speech. A lot of the characters weren't fleshed out enough so that they had their own voices. My biggest gripe was understanding the concept of Leagues and why these were prefered over not signing up. I'd personally tell them to sod off and go my merry way.

I am a sucker for vampires, and this was a really good quick read.
the cliffhanger was expected and I'll be picking up book 2 to read as well

Not my kind of read. Tried it for about 20%, just didn’t connect with the characters. Writing was developed, no grammar mistakes, I just didn’t like the plot. Sorry.

I will say the first part of this book was hard for me to get into, but I did enjoy it a bit more after I hit the halfway point. It definitely had some different elements that made it interesting and that cliffhanger at the end has me wanting to know what happens next!

Rating:2/5 Stars
While I feel like this story has a lot of potential, it fell flat for me. It was very all over the place and confusing. The writing also threw me off. Fun read though!

The book started off strong, the middle was so so and the ending was great. Expected the ending, however, excited to read about Aileen’s next adventure within the vampire leagues. Spicy and dark without having to describe much of the ugly.

Aileen is a girl who has a mysterious (and dark) past. Aileen lived a normal 'boring' everyday life until that suddenly changed one day. She encounters a vampire, gets an imprint and becomes a vampire against her own will. That was the moment where she swore to herself that she would get revenge on the Ragnor Rayne who gave her an imprint.
What she doesn't know is that Ragnor Rayne is someone who is a powerful person. When she finds out that her future is uncertain as a vampire because of the action, her passion to get revenge on Ragnor Rayne only intensifies.

➳ I honestly liked this book. At first, I found the plot confusing and I had mixed feelings about the book. But after pushing through the first 6 chapters, it slowly but surely became more interesting for me. It got to a point where I just couldn't put the book down. The writing in the beginning can feel like it's a story which came from Wattpad. But for me it wasn't a problem and I genuinely enjoyed reading the book. Normally it takes me a few days up to a few weeks to finish a book but I read this one in 2 days. I found it an entertaining and a fun read
➳ I liked it how Aileen's character developed throughout the book. Another thing which I loved about the book was Ragnor Rayne. He slowly started to open up and express his emotions towards Aileen. I absolutely LOVED the tension between the FMC and MMC
➳ The cliffhanger was something which I totally DIDN'T expect. I will definitely read the next book when it comes out.

TRIGGER WARNINGS:
Physical abuse, blood play, kidnapping, bullying, cutting, servitude, nonconsensual sex, parental sexual abuse.

Omg I’m obsessed. This book was so good. I enjoyed every second of it and can’t wait to read the sequel!!

Cloak of the Vampire is one of the most thrilling and addictive books I’ve read in a while! Going in with no expectations, I literally couldn’t stop thinking about it (still thinking about it the day after finishing).
The world building is amazing, with such an imaginative concept and story, it really isn’t just another vampire book. The characters have great depth, the background stories are fascinating, while the chemistry and interactions are spot on. It is quite a cruel read however, that does add to the intensity. Well written, fast paced and never boring.
I don’t know how I can wait for the sequel, for me this is a stand out series!

Cloak of the Vampire is a deliciously spicy by the author of The Millennium Wolves.
Aileen gets caught up in the world of vampires in a not so wise attempt to save her friend. Thrown head first into the politics, mysteries and danger of this new world, Aileen must pover her self worthy before the vampire auction.
Despite all this she manages to catch the eye of her maker the vampire Lord Ragor, who is keeping some pressure big secrets, but none as big as Aileens own secrets.
I throughly enjoyed this book, both world building and character development are on point. I only have two silly issues and honestly these were just things that irked me and have no real baring on the story. First the author talks about the FMC walking about in just tights and a t- shirt , I can only assume they mean leggings as in the uk tights are pantyhose. Unless she is just walking about in them... the other is how often Ragnors outfits or should I say outfit is described, he wears the same thing all the time and the author tell us what he is wearing like 10 separate times....why?
Anyhoo excellent story can't wait for book 2

Firstly, thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this ARC to give an honest review.
I’m not going to lie I was a bit intimidated by the trigger warnings of this book but they were actually very fair and everything was very tasteful. The book, refreshingly, wasn’t smut over plot substance!
At first I wasn’t sure about this book, this is because the characters supposed best friend is insufferable. However, when you push through those first 5 chapters or so you realise it’s secondary to the real plot.
I really liked that this book had a dual POV but it wasn’t present from the start. It felt like it came at the right points in the story to further the readers experience. Utilising it later on gave you time to connect to the FMC, to route for her, and better understand her emotions. It was also refreshing to have a FMC who wasn’t suddenly all powerful.
The hierarchy and world system of this book was really well explained by the early academia elements. Always giving enough information for the reader to follow the plot without giving too much away before major plot points.
I honestly devoured this book in a day and can’t wait for the next one. The ending really set up for book 2.

It starts slow but is fairly quick to read even though the book itself isn’t super short. Gives kind of Wattpad/YA feel in terms of writing and could probably use another read. The ending is pretty and will have you waiting eagerly for the next book.
I would recommend looking at trigger warnings before reading. It isn’t super graphic but there are things in here that could upset people.

3.5 Rounded to 4 Stars
This book does get off to a slow start but I did pursue and I’m glad I did. It definitely gets better around the half way mark. After that I really enjoyed the book. At points I found myself hooked and couldn’t stop reading to see what happened next.
I really enjoyed this unique world building.
I found how the Vampires are created to be unique and loved learning how they could have special talents too.
The story follows Aileen who is our main character but I found her hard to like at first until you learn about her past and why she is like she is. Aileen is shrouded in mystery and her Lord struggles to find out what she is hiding.
I actually felt sorry for her with how one of her only friends Cassidy Treated her. Aileen had no choice in being turned but her friend had been on a waitlist and knew all about it. You soon learn that Cassidy wasn’t as good a friend as you thought.
Aileen’s relationship with Ragnor Rayne her Lord is really complicated as she didn’t sign up for being a vampire and he refuses to explain why he did what he did but the pull between the two is strong and it’s not long before they are sleeping together. This book does have plenty of spice to it!
I enjoyed reading his POV throughout the book too as it showed you a little more of him.
The auction is where new Vampires are auctioned off to the highest bidder, Aileen really struggles with this and ends up doing something she swore not to ever do again! But no spoilers as I don’t want to give away a main part of the plot.
The book does cover some dark themes and does a few trigger warnings. So please be aware before reading.
I’m really looking forward to the next book and seeing where it goes.

Thank you netgalley for the ARC book in exchange for a honest review.
Aileen is a mysterious person with a past very well hidden. When she comes face with a vampire, shes given a imprint and becomes a vampire. Aileen plots revenge against Ragnor Rayne for making her immortal against her will.
With the intense amount of burning passion and intensity between them as they go through the journey in Rayne league. When its Time for the auction she feels betrayed but now it's time for his actions to pay, and she won't stop.
I honestly liked this book, it was interesting , found different elements in the book, I found Aileen to be closed off and hidden but as throughout the book we can find more about her.
Wish there was more clarity in the book, it kinda felt confusing in the beginning, but I got it in the end. 😅
Can't wait for the next part. ❤

This Book was definitely not what I was expecting. I read a lot of vampire stories and this definitely read way different. I enjoyed the new aspects of it.
Having the FMC focus so much on her terrible friend made me soo mad at times.
While the book is not particularly short it's a quick read.
That Cliffhanger ending my God!
The only disappointment I get from reading ARCS is having to wait way too long for the next installment.
Thanks Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.
