I recently read all of Teagan Hunters Carolina Comets series where the discreet covers have beautiful rainbow-coloured spines so when I requested DM Diaries, I was excited to see what another one of her books would be like.
This book focuses on Olive O’Brien, a hardworking plus size model determined to stand by her eco and body conscious message to others.
Jude Rafferty is an actor, coming from a hugely famous family and he’s trying to be taken seriously and not just known for his infamous role in a teen show when he was younger. His brother Jasper, an equally famous sibling in his own right is plastered all over social media and this is where Olive’s path crosses with the Rafferty’s. Olive has been using Jasper’s DM’s as a private diary for well over a year knowing he hasn’t read them but when Jude takes over his brother’s social media he ends up finding the diary entries and is immediately fascinated by this woman.
One thing I enjoyed with this book is that the mystery catfish scenario was revealed early on and didn’t linger until the 80% mark like some books do. It was a fun and entertaining read once again from Teagan Hunter. I hope we see a book for Jasper because he definitely comes across as a player. The characters were interesting and the plot wasn’t over the top. I look forward to any further releases from Hunter!
Thank you for the eARC!

I love everything Teagan writes. This was no exception. The DM Diaries was cute and fun. I just loved Jude and Olive!

Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for an ARC of this book.

This book reminded me of a novella I read last about a mistaken identity. Coincidentally the novella also featured two brothers who are famous for something and a plus size FMC. I loved the idea, the book failed to capture me. I saw it had great reviews and maybe I'll re read it in the future and find it better. But at this time it just wasn't for me. This is the first book I've read from this author but it wont be my last as I own a copy of another book thats on my physical TBR.

I’ve always enjoyed it when a writer mixes the mistaken identity/secret identity trope with a good virtual message/pen pal/text message mix-up so when I saw The DM Diaries by Teagan Hunter, I knew I had to try it!

Olive is a social media influencer and plus-size model who inadvertently makes a habit of using celebrity, Jasper Rafferty’s, DMs as her personal journal through grief and life. After all, the “read” notifications have never turned on! Giving Olive a sense of security that Jasper never checks his DMs she continues to write her journal entries. However, when Jasper’s brother, Jude (also a celebrity), makes a major social faux pas, he is tasked with managing his brother’s social media (likely as a training of how he “should be” portraying himself). Now, all of Olive’s entries have been revealed…to Jude. Hooked by the candor, humor, and joy she has poured into the memories of each journal entry, “Jasper” responds to Olive and sets off a pen pal like relationship. As their trust and friendship builds, how is Jude going to reveal the truth! And, what if the truth is more than meets the eye?

This was a quick and easy, sweet read with some spice. Ironically, my favorite part of a mistaken text/DM romance is the honesty that flows from the anonymity of the circumstances. Therefore, I really enjoyed the conversations between Jude and Olive through their DMs that were filled with fun quips and an ease of two people who truly got each other. However, this story had an added twist of a parallel relationship between the MCs outside the DM realm that was also interesting to watch play out. There was quite a bit of drama but I would expect nothing less from a romance that includes celebrities and influencers and overall, I found this book quite fun!

Sunshine & Asshat!! Well, Sunshine (what Jude has nicknamed Olive) isn't all that sunny when she meets Jude (aka Asshat) at the local coffee truck. I would call him an Asshat if he cut in front of me in the long line to my much needed caffeine fix too! Especially when he flashes that gorgeous smirk. Ugh!
Actor Jude Rafferty (of the legendary award-winning Rafferty family of actors) is trying to make his return to acting after college. Olive is an up and coming plus size model making her way up the Instagram influencer ranks. Their careers are adjacent, not overlapping so neither knows the other.

A series of misfortunate events that include
-Olive DM'ing Jude's brother, a very A-list actor, Jasper's Insta account in a diary/journal sort of way knowing no one will most likely ever see it
- Jude having a disastrous live interview promoting his new movie which resulted in ripped pants and Snoopy underwear,
- Jude being made to monitor Jasper’s IG account to drop photos of the two brother's hanging out so Jude can get more exposure
- Jude messaging Olive and striking up a relationship through Instagram while pretending to be his brother
- a major blow up when identities are discovered
-...and more!

This is a current day "You've Got Mail" of sorts (which was a 90s version of The Shop Around the Corner, of sorts).

I loved this book so SO much! Olive and Jude are incredibly great characters that you definitely want to root for! You want them together, you want them to be successful, you want it all for them! This book is funny, sweet, witty, snarky, and a lot of fun to read! I would expect nothing less from Teagan Hunter. I have read many of her books and she hasn't ever let me down!
I still have all the giddy feels even long after putting the book down!!

(I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley)

The DM Diaries was a fantastic rom com that made me laugh out loud numerous times and when I wasn't laughing, I had one of these smiles on my face - you know, the goofy heart eyes looking one

Obviously I loved them moments between the MC's Jude and Olive, but some of my favourites were those between the Rafferty siblings

It read like a nostalgic rom com from the early 00's, I got the subtle reference to 27 Dresses Teagan! It just had that feel-good feeling whilst reading that those movies would give me back in the day - movie execs, offer Teagan a movie deal for this one!

I loved the Glove Save (from her Carolina Comets series) reference too!

All in all a super fun read, that I highly recommend!

Rating: 3.75/5

Thank you to Montlake and Netgalley for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

If she writes it, I will indeed read it! and overall, I really liked this one!

What I did enjoy: family/sibling relationships, nyc settling and the coffee truck. Olivia's journey as a fashion influencer/model. great banter and text chains. amazing plus size rep. I was routing for this couple to work!

Here's what I didn't love: the whole third act break up x2...and generally the whole DM situation9/who am I really talking to thing. I am generally not into the whole catfishing thing and it gave those vibes for a bit. The pacing was a tad off for my liking.

Do I think this was her best book/the new one I am raving about? No, but I adore Teagan and I can't wait to see what she gives us next!

The DM Diaries is a movie star/plus sized influencer, romantic comedy. It's a mismash of drama, humor, emotions and found family. It's a quick paced read that kept me hooked from the first page. I loved the witty banter between these characters. Jude and Olive were perfect together. It's a must read that will make you laugh and swoon. I can't wait for more from Teagan.

Laurie West and Alastair Haynesbridge did a great job bringing these characters to life.

The DM Diaries by Teagan Hunter is a fun and light- hearted romcom contemporary romance.
This is a story between Olivia, a plus-sized influencer who has many insecurities about herself and uses an actor's instagram DMs as her own personal diary/therapy. Although she never gets a response, its a space where she can vent and air her thoughts without prejudice.
Jude is an actor who has grown up in the spotlight thanks to his famous parents. He's trying to pave his own path and gain his own recognition as he's tired of being known as the son or brother.
An incident has Jude's publicist trying to clear his name and using his famous brother's instagram is one idea. That is until Jude gets the password and stumbles upon all the DM's his brother has been sent by fans. One of these DM's stands out from the others and after reading them he becomes intrigued. Pretending to be his brother, Jude starts messaging back and before you know it, a connection is formed. What happens when Olivia finds out that the person who she has been talking to is infact the brother?
Overall, this was a fun, feel-good romcom read with wit, great banter, connection and amazing secondary characters. This book will definitely leave a smile on your face after reading.

I'm a big fan of Teagan Hunter. Her hockey romances are great, but I had forgotten how much I've enjoyed her non hockey romances.

This one is about Olive O'Brien. She's a plus-size influencer (and model!). She's got a half million followers and really tries to influence things she believes in. Olive also has a secret diary that's in the DMs of famous actor Jasper Rafferty. Which was pretty neat. I'd never heard of that before.

The problem? She wrote them and never thought anyone else would ever read them. Someone does, though, Jasper's brother Jude. And he replies.

Jude and Olive chat back and forth. There's some mistaken identity here, and you wanna get mad at Jude, but he's a really great guy. Teagan writes some very funny passages. Jude isn't a stuck-up Hollywood guy. The relationship he has with Jasper and his sister (and honestly, his whole family) is really great.

Olive is awesome, too. She stands by her convictions and is a great friend. This book doesn't fall into the trap of how some mistaken identity books go.

I really enjoyed it. I laughed a lot, and I loved the MCs relationship.

DNF: As much as I typically like Hunter's light and sexy romances, there was something off about this one from the start (beyond that awful cover). I love the idea of an original meet cute and have fond memories of Hunter's first texting series, but I'll admit that using DMs as a diary is pretty weird. Mostly though, I wasn't that sold on either character individually and they spent so little time on the page together that I got bored before things really got going. I listened to the audio, and I don't think that helped - Laurie West and Alastair Haynesbridge are both narrators I recognize by name but can't ever remember listening to. Neither of their voices wowed me, though they weren't bad either. With a stronger storyline, I probably wouldn't have minded the narration. Ultimately, this was simply a miss for me, but I continue to be a fan of Hunter's work.

Teagan can literally write anything and I’ll binge it. Her books are so easy to follow and I always end up falling in love. Even though this wasn’t a sport romance (so far i had only read her sports romances) I truly loved this one and I cannot wait to read more books of her like this

A great read, the story of Jude and Olive. They meet in real life, not knowing who each other are and how they are already connected. I liked how it is told from both points of view.

I’ll read anything Teagan Hunter writes but her hockey books will forever be my fave of hers. This was a cute, fun book. Lots of moments to smile about. I really enjoyed the plus size rep and that she was a model and proud of her size (around a 16) and what she looked like 👏 👏 I also appreciated all the family (and found family) talks. I’m a sucker for siblings in a book. I did not appreciate the third act break up! It was stupid; Olive was stupid; it was unnecessary. Then to just wrap it all up in like 4 pages felt wrong. We, Olive and Juneteenth deserved better. Still enjoyed the book and hoping we get a Jasper and Dylan book!

THE DM DIARIES is a celebrity romance about Olive, an influencer and model who's been using actor Jasper Rafferty's DMs as her diary, spilling all her secrets and darkest secrets in his Instagram inbox. What she's not expecting, however, is for Jasper to actually answer her... Except it turns out that it's not Jasper but his younger brother Jude, using his brother's Instagram account to help his public image.

I love a secret identity trope and this was a fun interpretation of it, even if there was a lot of suspension of disbelief required to really enjoy the story. Like the idea of a publicist telling her client to use his brother's Instagram to rehab his image, for starters, or the idea that Jude would essentially fall in love via DMs with Olive, yet he didn't recognize her all the times they met for coffee.

That being said, I still had a good time and I would recommend it for anyone who likes celebrity romances, the secret identity trope, and some good banter.

This was a fun read and reminded me of the texting series and why I fell in love with Teagan's writing. Jude and Olive just complete the other. They're both celebrities in their own right but really just fun loving down to earth people who fell in love.

I loved everything about this book from the sibling banter to the swoon-worthy grand gesture. There are laughs galore with sweet romance and sexiness mixed in.

I fell in love with Jude and Olive from the first page and hope there's more for these characters. Jasper definitely needs a story.

This book was so fun! It is definitely one to make you smile. Jude is a super sweet MMC and definitely a cinnamon roll. Their banter, the coffee shop meets, the messaging. The relationship had so many hoops and hills to climb but they work through it. We get to see how being famous can also lead to lots of drama and issues caused by that fame.

Thank you @netgalley and Mondale Publishing for this ALC/ARC.

I loved Teagan’s Carolina Comets series, but this one I didn’t get past chapter 2. I was so excited to try something that wasn’t sports romance by her and it just didn’t hit for me.

What a fun, mistaken identity trope storyline!

I haven’t read too many of Teagan Hunter’s books before, but I’m definitely becoming a big fan - I think there was something in the author’s notes that this was her earliest book but wasn’t published, or has been rewritten and re-released? It definitely has a different feeling from the others of hers I’ve read (not the same type as the others), but was such a fantastic experience. Highly recommend it!!

I enjoyed the mistaken identity trope, even though it can usually be a tricky and problematic one - she did it very carefully and I liked how it came about. Olive was a perfect female lead, being a plus size model/influencer and great role model, meeting Jude by chance and having the real life banter and the online banter thinking he was someone else (turned out to think it was his brother, a movie star)….

Olive was using movie star Jasper’s DMs like a journal (her therapist said she needed to get into journaling and stars never read their DMs!). When one day he replies and they start chatting, she’s in for the surprise of her life, not just that it isn’t Jasper or a PA replying, but it’s his brother Jude, who happens to be the rude guy she met at the coffee cart and has struck up a friendship with… she has no idea she’s being catfished by a different movie star and might have been making a real connection afterall.

Very well done and if you haven’t read Hunter’s books before or not many, like myself, this is a good one to get you hooked! Great characters, great banter, great chemistry, really good storyline, very strong role model in Olive, and great way to wrap all up. Solid 4-star read!

I received an advance copy from NetGalley and Montlake, and this is my honest feedback.
