The Past (2010) and Present come crashing together in this creepy, atmospheric thriller told from multiple points of view.
Francesca: The owner of The Manor, an upscale hotel and series of cabins.
Owen: Francesca’s architect husband.
Bella: The guest in cabin #11.
Eddie: A local, working at the hotel as a dishwasher and aspiring bartender.
Detective Walker: The police officer on the case.
I absolutely loved this, especially the creepy bird aspect. I thought the point of views were easy to keep track of and they came together seamlessly. The twists were a surprise, especially with Eddies mom. Highly recommended!
Thank you to William Morrow for the advanced copy.

This was much slower for me than a Lucy Foley novel typically is, despite the extremely short chapters. I think it took too long to get going and have any sort of idea where the story was going, or what was going on between all the characters. It did pick up a lot in the last 20% or so, and it had a satisfying ending!

I just could not get into this one! Too many characters and going back and forth with timelines. Maybe I’ll try another time!

This was my first book by this author and I’d say it’s definitely a fun spooky read for this fall season. The plot was good. Loved the atmosphere and the setting in the book. Definitely creepy. I gave it 4 stars

Dnf for this book sadly. It was not for me.
I had to dnf it because I couldn’t find the motivation to continue. It really bored me. The story was hard to follow.
It makes me sad because I loved the Paris apartment by this author.

🐦⬛ The way this book comes together in the end is, *chef’s kiss*. And I love that in a thriller (happy #thrillerthursday)! Thanks to @harperbooks for this one. It’s out now!
🐦⬛ Ok, while I LOVED the ending here and totally thought it was worth it, the journey to get there got a little monotonous at times. This one had:
- rich people behaving badly
- a revenge plot
- teenage sins come back to haunt
- a mystical, local legend element
🐦⬛ What I think it may have been lacking was something that made it stand out as original. As I was listening to this I thought, ‘yep, I’m listening to another thriller.’ It just felt very formulaic and it’s not one I’d tell people is a MUST READ. That said, if you’re a Lucy Foley fan I think this is one of her best (probably second only to The Guest List), and if this has been on your list you should definitely check it out for yourself.

Honestly, I wish I loved more of Lucy Foley's books. I loved the Guest List, and everything else since has been meh.

Not my favorite, but will definitely be purchasing a copy for the collection as Lucy Foley is very popular with our readers.

What a delicious, highly consumable in one sitting read! As twisty as Lucy Foley books are, this one has to be the twistiest! Love the journal entries, taking us back in time where we learn much truth (and lies) about certain characters. Loved The Midnight Feast, and can't wait for the next by this author.

Predictable but very enjoyable! Slow for about 40% of the book but then it picked up. It's a typical Lucy Foley book, using the same formula.

I have always enjoyed Lucy Foley books, but wow! The Midnight Feast was amazing! Loved how we had multiple points of view and timelines. It made the story stay interesting and gave me as a reader a lot of questions and wondering who did what and where the storyline was going. I loved how all the storylines and characters intersected in some way. I ended up listening to the audio from my library and loved that.

This was just okay. I typically love Foley’s books but this one fell pretty flat to me. Interesting premise!

I couldn’t get into the story just as I thought. Not disappointed but need more depth, I think. I can't remember when was the last time when I read a book in which the whole plot was 100% equal to what was written in the blurb and nothing more. There was no surprise there, no resolution to any of the plot threads and the whole story was blatantly predictable and painfully dull.

𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬💭:
I was so happy to receive this book as Lucy Foley has been an author I’ve been wanting to read more of. I only ever read The Guest List which i really enjoyed. Unfortunately, this was a huge struggle bus😔 It took me so long to finish and i was so close to DNF-ing 🫠
Thank you William Morrow Books for my copy!
𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐛📝:
The Manor is the newest resort everybody has been talking about. On its opening night, a fire starts and a body is discovered within its premises. Secrets and lies start to arise that has long been buried.
𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. This book was Midsommar meets Nine Perfect Strangers. I was really intrigued by the story, but it just really dragged for me. If it wasn’t for the last 20% of the book, I would have rated this book lower. There were twists that came at the end, and i kinda wish they were dropped earlier to keep my interest. Plus the jumping timelines i thought were a bit confusing. So many others enjoyed this book though, so it may have been a me problem. I don’t discourage anyone from reading it, but it just really wasn’t for me!
𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚: 𝘔𝘪𝘥𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘢𝘳, 𝘕𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘗𝘖𝘝𝘴, 𝘫𝘶𝘮𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴

Thanks for the opportunity to read. Honestly I had a bit of difficulty getting into this book and the upkeep of all the different points of view so much so that I had to keep a little cheat sheet in the beginning. There were some nice twists which I enjoy and I did not predict the ending which is always a pleasant surprise!

I enjoyed this book more than some other of Foley’s books. I liked the wellness aspect. I’ didn’t like the whole bird thing. I felt like the it was unrealistic that no one would recognize each other after 15 years.
I was glad that Jake was alive and that he was Eddie’s brother. I would have liked to know who the other 2 bodies were.

Lucy Foley knows how to write a mystery! I love getting to see the characters she creates and what situations she puts them in. Her novels feel like a writing exercise in the best way possible. I was hooked from the very first page, and on the edge of my seat to the end.

Lucy always writes some weird things, this was no exception. The book starts interesting enough about a women at a retreat cottage. We then flash back to her teen years. Between then and now we get glimpses of what happened that night, and it’s not what you think. The book was a little slow going at first, but stick with it, it’s worth it I promise. About 65% in I couldn’t put it down and kept asking myself what next? Multiple twist after twist, most I never saw coming. But watch out for the birds! Great book by a great author.

My first Lucy Foley book and will not be my last! Was a great read that kept me invested until the very end

I have to say, *Midnight Feast* might just be one of my favorite Lucy Foley books yet! It’s twisty, it’s dark, and it keeps you guessing the whole way through. At first, I was a little thrown off by all the bird references, but after a while, they started to grow on me. They actually added to the eerie vibe that runs through the whole story.
The multi-point-of-view format worked really well here, with lots of back-and-forth between the characters that kept the pace up. The summer journal from one of the characters' teenage years was a good way to drip-feed us the backstory without slowing things down. By the time everything tied up at the end, I was totally hooked.
If you’re into dark, atmospheric reads with a bit of a puzzle to solve, this one’s definitely worth checking out. Just be ready for a few unexpected bird sightings along the way!
