I’ve read other books by Lucy Foley and was excited to read her newest book. The plot is intriguing and I loved how all the characters were connected in both the past and present. The twists were good, even though some were expected. The plot was revealed at a good pace, especially with the inclusion of the journal entries. This is one of my favorites by Lucy Foley and I’d recommend to anyone looking to read a twisty mystery. 4.25/5

Absolutely brilliant! Pure entertainment that keeps you wanting more till the end. Starting from the beginning the writing pulls you in and keeps you intrigued. I find sometimes with many points of view from different characters the story can get complicated and confusing, but the writing here does not do that. You're slowly introduced to the characters and the connections made that build and grow as you continue to read through the story. The best is how the story comes together and it brings you shock after shock,, rather than one big plot twist at the end. I loved that about this book, it wasn't over the first twist. I would recommend all to rad this book, and I am now intrigued to continue to read other books by this author!
Lucy Foley has quickly become one of my favorite thrilled authors. This book is fun and will leave you guessing. I never guessed what was coming next. I enjoyed reading and will recommend to friends
I thought there was a good mix a characters that kept you interested in the book. Some you liked some hated but they kept you turning the page. You became emotionally invested in the characters and I always think that’s a sign of a good story
There were a lot of time lines to follow and at times that made it hard to fully understand what was going on. But overall it has everything you wanted in a suspenseful novel. I highly recommend
Lucy Foley will forever be an automatic buy for me. And this was by far one of my favorites by her. The Guest List will forever be #1 HOWEVER THE TWISTS AND TURNS 😧
You know those books that you wait and wait to read because you want to be able to keep looking forward to them? Well, that was The Midnight Feast to a T. And let me tell you, it didn’t let me down in the least. From the original format to the atmospheric setting, Foley managed to craft a story that pulled me in deep. But it was the deftly layered plot, immersive storytelling, and dynamite characters that turned this promise of heaven into a guaranteed success.
Starting off from the top, the storyline was darn near perfection. Even-paced and laden with foreboding, the creepy aura created a plot that had me second guessing what was really going on. Was there a paranormal element? Or something I wasn’t seeing? Until the final timely reveal, I just couldn’t say. And the twists! Brilliantly linking together the dual timelines into one stellar premise, each revelation shocked me to my core as each puzzle piece fell into place.
As for the characters, they were simply divine. Mysterious and piled high with secrets, the multiple POVs and first-person narration meant that they came alive on the page. So much so, in fact, that I could easily see this book playing on a screen near me someday soon. Complex and with thick backstories that illustrated realistic yet highly dramatized personas, each played a central role to this psychological thriller.
All together, there was nary a thing missing—and not even a hint of anything that came across as too much. With short chapters, an addictive folklore element, and ever ratcheting tension, the fact that there was a mystery times two meant I was over the moon. Sinister but also oddly alluring, from the slow burn start to the perfectly timed climax, it was an utter slam dunk. Just don’t go into this one expecting yet another one of Foley’s typical thrillers. Thanks to a horror-esque feel, this went above and beyond. Rating of 4.5 stars.
A story set at a new luxury resort built in an ancient forest?! The atmosphere is already right up my alley. During opening weekend of The Manor, there’s a fire at the resort and a body is discovered at the foot of the cliffs. Read along to discover whether the unfortunate events were an accident or an act of revenge from local legends.
This one was a bit slower than I was anticipating based on Foley’s previous books. At first, I struggled with keeping the characters aligned because they all felt a little flat to me. However, I enjoyed the short chapters and once the pace picked up - I was eager to keep reading to find out the ending. There were lots of twists and turns, which Foley is really good at including. I also really enjoyed how all the characters connected and the way the book wrapped up.
Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow for a copy of this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Perfect beach read. A nice return to form for Foley. Very much enjoyed this thriller- Midsommar meets Nine perfect strangers. Recommended!
The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley
Thank you to @williammorrowbooks, @lucyfoleyauthor, and @netgalley for the opportunity to read this #advancedreadercopy in exchange for my #honestbookreview! This will be out June 18 so pre order now. All thoughts are my own.
Why did I go into this thinking it would be werewolf related? I’m glad it wasn’t, by the way! So full disclosure - The Guest List and The Hunting Party are two of my all time favorite thrillers, and I think back on both quite often so I went into this with high expectations and a healthy dose of anxiety. But my fears were unfounded as she found the magic again, this time in a haunted wood! This gave me slight “The Crows Have Eyes” (Schitts Creek, IYKYK) vibes but the bird element was wrapped pretty neatly. I loved the diary entries, the dual timelines (which were clearly labeled! 💚), and the POV shift that drove the plot and created suspense that kept me flipping the pages desperate to unravel the mystery. I highly recommend this for suspenseful thriller fans!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨-4.5/5
Its opening night of The Manor and Francesca is so glad to see her work finally open. while located in a farming town, the manor is certainly not for the poor. It was built for the richest folks to come and enjoy a relaxing and positive environment. Some strange things have begun to happen though. If only those dang town kids would leave them alone…is it really the townsfolk though?
3.5 Stars. This one took me a little to get into, but once I did and I saw how connected everything was I could not put it down! I really enjoyed the diary entry aspect of the story, and I think that was where I really got pulled into the story. I was very confused by everyone talking about “the birds” but as always, those explanations all came in time. This is one of those stories that I felt like the characters I disliked I never really felt myself rooting for, and I was so glad with the way it ended!
Thank you to @williammorrowbooks for my gifted copy of this book!
Lucy Foley is one of my “must read” authors and this book lived up to my high expectations! Thank you so much NetGalley and William Morrow for an ARC of this book in exchange of my own review.
When Harper’s Bazaar said this has everything you want in a thriller, they were not wrong!
This was such a great book. I finished it in two days and it left me wanting more,
3.5 rounded down
I don't have anything extraordinary to write about this one. I enjoyed the journal entries and the multiple POVs, but I didn't particularly appreciate being shown a twist and then having it explained to me a few pages later. The pacing felt too slow, and yet I still felt there were big gaps in the characters' stories that were not answered.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I was really into the set-up and the dive into the atmospheric vibes and elite hotel and its members of The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley. However, the pacing was a little bit slow until it finally ramped up at the end. Therefore, I thought about DNFing it a few times but I was enjoying the story so I stuck it out and I'm glad I did. The points of view were a little tricky as it did require some focus to remember each character and their roles. Overall I thought it was good and wouldn't hesitate to read from this author again.
Many thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy!
Lucy Foley is a master at laying out a story in such a way that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat!
“The Midnight Feast” is set during the grand opening weekend of The Manor, a new posh resort in a small village not far from London. Francesca’s family owned the manor for years and upon her inheritance of it, she designed a property that would provide a high-end experience for the “stylish” set of people that she wished to draw. She has always enjoyed attention and luxury, even if it hurts other people -- many people….
The story really starts when the different characters start to tell their stories. They each have a history with “Frankie” when she was growing up in this small village area. And there are many secrets revealed -- a little at a time, in true Lucy Foley style. I especially enjoyed the unexpected twists and turns at the end. I couldn’t put it down until I found out every last detail!
I recommend this to anyone who likes a good mystery, especially one that is fed to you bit by bit. So good!
I’d like to thank NetGalley, Lucy Foley, and William Morrow for the advanced reader's copy in exchange for my unbiased review.
This was my first Lucy Foley book. Overall I thought it was a really solid thriller.
I totally did not see a few of the plot twists coming, which I loved. I always like when a book can take my by surprise.
The birds concept was interesting to me and I do like the way it tied together in the end, but I do feel like there were some loose ends with that that made it a little difficult to understand.
I will definitely be reading more of Foley’s books in the future.
Thank you to Harper Collins for allowing me to read this early!
I honestly wanted more from this book. I was excited for it but I feel like it fell flat for me. I was bored.
DNFed. I really just couldn't get into the story, and the characters all seemed like caricatures and not like real people. After reading some other reviews I decided this book just isn't for me!
Another slow burn from Lucy Foley. This one took me a bit to get into BUT I have to say I really enjoyed this one and it might be my favorite from her, yet. The twists and connections in this book were incredible, one twist in particular which literally made me audibly gasp out loud. I truly was left shook by the end of the book at how amazing it was and how it all tied together.
The Midnight Feast has multiple POVs and follows a dual timeline. It's setting in coastal retreat area, and has all the folklore vibes.
I definitely loved this one!
It's opening weekend for "The Manor", an exclusive resort for the wealthy. The founder Francesca and her husband Owen are thrilled by the possibilities The Manor will provide. But mystery guest Bella has a secret and she's come to make right the wrongs of the past.
An edge of your seat story, there's a lot going on in this book. From 15 years past to current, everything culminates in The Midnight Feast. There is a full cast of characters and it's a ride to find out how they intersect and bring the past to light. Multiple POVs and short chapters keep this book moving at a breakneck pace right up to the end.
Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Available June 18, 2024.
This was my first Lucy Foley book, so I went in not knowing what to expect. Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow for the ARC to review. This book is told from multiple points of view and a journal. There is murder, folklore, and secrets. Everything comes together with a neat bow in the end. I loved the short chapters, but the bouncing back and forth between characters and time periods was a bit much in the beginning. During the first half I felt like I could quit reading and never wonder what happened in the end, but the second half definitely picked up and had me interested. I most enjoyed reading Eddie’s part of the story. This book goes to show, guilt can be a powerful thing…
