A superb exploration of color sure to lead curious minds to even more exciting questions about the world! Loved every minute and learned so much!
I enjoyed the mix of public domain art and original illustrations. The tone is cheerful and inclusive, and properly global in scope. I appreciated that the reasonable "lies to children" I expect were all signaled - readers know they are getting a simplified version of how something works. The only major accuracy issue I have is about Napoleon - we’re about as sure as we can be about someone who died 200 years ago that he died of stomach cancer, and if I wasn't fairly sure I knew all the other history in the book, I'd be concerned I was being given wrong information elsewhere, too. I loved that there was an index and glossary and that the purpose and use of these was explained to readers, which is rare in children's non-fiction.
Colorful, eye-catching design with lots of interesting facts. I hope to add this to our collection to go along with the 2025 CSLP Color Our World theme.
Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy! This is a great guide for anyone interested in art and color. Great illustrations and explanations.

I think this is a really great book! It talks about art but there’s also art history (global) and even little bits of science (people often forget that science and art are closely related). There’s a lot of information being given so while it does make art accessible to children, it may be best suited for older elementary/middle school aged kids, maybe even those in the beginning of high school.
This was such a fun read. It’s definitely aimed for children, but I think adults will find this book interesting. This book is filled with so much cool information. There’s fun facts about colors and a bit of global art history. There’s also information on various artists. There’s a glossary and fun activities at the end of the book. The illustrations are amazing.
Interesting story full of cool information. The format is good. I was very intrigued but had a hard time keeping kids interested in it.
I haven't seen a book quite like this one before. Most of the available books about color are on a very primary level. This is set up in chapters and really gets into the science that most kids haven't thought about before. Tweens and young adults could enjoy this, as well as precocious elementary schoolers. The layout is appeal, and the drawings are simple but engaging.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. I will purchase for my library.
