This book needs to be read by anyone who loves historical fiction, action, romance, the West, and historical facts. The story is a delightful, yet nail biting tale at times. The characters will grab your attention and intrigue you throughout the book. The writing is beyond brilliant. I have enjoyed the entire Aprons and Veils series but it seems every one I read is better than the last! Another installment will be coming in 2025!

I loved this book. Between the action with the privateers, the romance, and the mystery of who is behind the traitors helping Napoleon. This book was fantastic and I’d recommend it to anyone who likes historical fiction. I received this book as an Advance Reader Copy and this is my honest review.

What a page turner! I fell into the pages of Grace Hitchcock's new Regency romance, which had me on the edge of my seat!

"A giant of a man stepped between them with his back to her. He gripped the viscount’s shoulder, his fingers discreetly cinching on his collarbone and forcing the cad to release his grip on her wrist with a grunt of pain. The mysterious gentleman enveloped Muriel in his arm, drawing her away from the horrid viscount and into the reel once more."

This is from the book. Read it to find out about the mysterious gentleman.

The plot twist at the end was crazy! I loved following Muriel's adventures. This was one book that I couldn't put down and was sad to arrive at the end.

I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

To Catch a Coronet by Grace Hitchcock is the first book in the new Best Laid Plans series and a definite much read if you love inspirational historical romances.
When Muriel Beau, a country baker turned heiress instigates public outrage and scandal for the third time by publicly proposing to a baron at a ball, and having him turn her down, she flees the country for the city in hopes of catching a coronet that will soon make her peers forget her disastrous escapades.
Captain Erik Draycott has returned home to assume his title as Earl and take on the responsibilities of his title and estate, but after years of service as a privateer giving up the sea life seems nearly impossible until he meets Muriel.
I really enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more books in this series in the future.

I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

She needs a husband, but is he looking for a wife?

What started as a nice Regency romance really took off into an exciting adventure of danger, intrigue, betrayal, and, of course, romance. To Catch A Coronet is the first book in the Best Laid Plans series as well as the first book that I've read from Grace Hitchcock. It, however, will not be my last.

I quite enjoyed Grace Hitchcock's blend of genres in To Catch A Coronet. There is something about a historical romance with suspense that is just fun to read and I tend to gravitate towards them when I find series (or standalones) like Best Laid Plans.

Grace Hitchcock has a real winner with To Catch A Coronet and I'm looking forward to finding more of the same romantic sparks, mystery, humor, and historical detail in the next Best Laid Plans novel when it releases...

To Catch a Coronet is to fall in love with a literary world and all of its quirky inhabitants. From the first few pages I knew this was going to be a different type of Regency read and I was correct in my initial assumption.

Muriel’s independence and the fact that she stays true to herself despite the pushback she gets from others in polite society is refreshing. She has a lightness about her that draws you in and when her and Erik share moments together it is nothing short of magical. The Captain compliments her in every way possible and you can feel the energy between these two vibrating off the pages. They are both such good-natured beings and have such big hearts that you would have to be heartless to not feel the tug on your heartstrings for their possible love match.

The story begins with one of the most embarrassing scenes I think I’ve ever read in a Regency-era novel. It was so incredibly cringe that I felt low-key embarrassed just reading it! I seriously wanted to reach through the pages and give Muriel a hug, even if the entire ordeal was her doing. From that moment on I knew this was a different story and devoured this novel like a delicious confectionery treat. There are moments that will make you feel mortified, others will make your blood boil, and many will make your heart swoon.

I loved this novel so much and am positively giddy with the prospect of future novels! I cannot wait to see where this series will take us next! My hope is that it will focus on one of Muriel’s best friends, as they were some of my favorite characters and I’d love to see their happily ever afters. Until then I can bask in the memories of reading this delicious novel.

“Oh, Muriel,” I thought over and over again as I read through Grace Hitchcock’s first book in her Best Laid Plans series, To Catch A Coronet, shaking my head at the heroine’s antics as she fumbled through yet another social misstep.

After committing the social faux pas of the year, Muriel leaves for London in a desperate search for a titled husband with enough consequence to outweigh her own mistakes, lest she end up single and ostracized forever. When her love interests lead to danger and intrigue, Muriel finds that she must put her trust and her redemption into the hands of God if she wants to find true love and live to tell the tale.

Although some parts of the story are a little slower than others, by the halfway point things tend to pick up pace, and Hitchcock does a great job leading the reader in a suspenseful guessing game as they speculate which character is truly the French spy Requin. I had so much fun trying to figure out the antagonist and must have suspected nearly every character in the novel at one point or another before the mystery nemesis was finally revealed.

This book checked all the boxes for me - Christian romance, historical, some light humor, mystery, and even some baking and a fun recipe at the end. It’s also a great tale for any woman who, like Muriel, has been tempted to take her search for love and family into her own hands. I’ll be looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series as well.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. A positive review was not required, and all opinions are my own.

"The Lord has taken my folly and redeemed it, turning it into a crown of loving kindness and such tender mercies that I could never have imagined."

I hadn't read a Grace Hitchcock book before, but I'm definitely hooked now! This book was so amazing, so well written. The characters were absolutely perfect, I loved them all, (even the bad people 🙈). I honestly had no idea where it was going when I started it, as it begins with Muriel proposing to the baron! 😂 But it just kept getting better and better and taking turns that were shocking and so exhilarating, it was so hard to put down.
It made me laugh many times, and hold my breath, which wasn't surprising with all the spies and men at gun point! I was just so impressed at everything the author put in this book - her own talent and research.
I can't wait for the next in the series!

"To Catch a Coronet" follows the journey of Muriel Beau, a passionate baker from a small country village. She inherits a large dowry from her mother's second husband, causing society to view her as unconventional because she doesn't bow down to the rest of societal rules. After a failed proposal at a dance, one that she made and was turned down, Muriel escapes to London to avoid the gossip mongers.

The slow-burning romance she discovers in London captivated me throughout this delightful historical Rom-Com. The charming lead characters, Muriel and Captain Erik Draycott heir to Draycott Castle and soon to assume his uncle's title of Earl, shared special moments that warmed my heart and many moments of witty humor as they teased one another. I truly loved how their attraction stemmed from inner qualities rather than just looks, as they both were looking for acceptance and kindness for who they truly were.

Along with a cast of wonderful side characters, the story is colorfully sparked with royalty, nobility, privateer adventurers, spies, and traitors who are supporting Napoleon. Who is behind the traitorous actions? As suspicions arise and shocking twists surface, the story continuously remains engaging with seamless writing pulling everything together piece by piece, and one delicious baked item after another.

This novel is brimming with adventure, witty dialogues, (a scone recipe at the end) suspense, action, and sweet romance. This book also delivers a faith-inspired message that shows both the main characters seeking help from Heaven as they face hard and dangerous things.

Author Grace Hitchcock skillfully crafts a delightful Regency tale that impressed me and makes me look forward to the next book in the series. This is one book I highly recommend to all Regency readers.

If you like Christian historical fiction with sweet romance and lots of laughter, do get a copy of To Catch a Coronet. It was so enjoyable!

Poor Muriel doesn’t understand society at all. She makes one mistake after another as she desperately tries to get married; she’s so lovable. And then she meets Erik, who will never marry. Or will he? They are great characters!

A Regency romance full of all the feelings along with suspense, spies, twists and turns and anything else you could want I highly recommend it and am eagerly waiting for book 2!

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

“Haven’t you ever had a dream that was so dear it made your heart ache?” He blinked, clearly taken aback at her reply. “I suppose everyone has.”

This book by Grace Hitchcock was such a pleasant and fun read. This historical romance set during the Regency Era was filled with privateers, spies, mystery, earls, barons, and a sweet little baker. Oh, also the Prince Regent makes an appearance as well. So, this book has it all. From the first adorable meet-cute, to danger, and ultimately to love and happily ever after. It was such an adventurous book. Mr. Warrick was quite the romantic, and certain scenes stole my breath with his chivalry and tenderness. I highly recommend to any lovers of the Regency Era who adore adventure and handsome heroes and adorable heroines.

Intrigue, swoon-worthy romance, humor, endearing characters, & delicious baked goods all combined into one delectable treat! All the stars for this delightful new Regency romance from Grace Hitchcock. From the first chapter, I was highly invested in Muriel Beau, the baker turned heiress finding love, & was eagerly enthralled.

Though she’s now a wealthy heiress, Muriel still loves to bake especially when she needs to think things through. After a disastrous proposal, she flees to London hoping to meet a titled man to save her reputation back home. It’s in the kitchen when she first meets Capt. Erik Draycott. Their funny meet cute results in him thinking she’s the kitchen help & her thinking he’s a delivery man.

Capt. Erik Draycott’s not only an earl & sea captain, but secretly a highly successful privateer for the Crown. Determined to catch his nemesis who’s stolen his money, he assumes his identity as an earl & begins attending Society events. His chance meeting with the kitchen maid stays with him & when he meets her again at a ball, he’s immediately smitten. Unwilling to settle down yet, he can offer her nothing more than friendship. When Muriel’s life is threatened, he does all he can to protect her, especially from the men determined to wed her.

I loved this story! Muriel’s & Erik’s love story was an absolute joy. From their first meeting, to fleeing cutthroat criminals, I loved their witty banter, Muriel’s unconventional, fresh honesty, & Erik’s dashing, sympathetic personality. I loved the house party & those romantic baking scenes.

Along with the banter, delightful Regency settings, and romance, I enjoyed the friendships between Muriel, Vivienne, & Tess. I can’t wait for their stories.

The mystery kept me guessing. There were so many fun twists and turns. While I had my suspicions, the villain was a total surprise! I love it when that happens.

My only caution is that this story contains multiple references to delicious pastries, cakes, & desserts that’ll make you crave baked goods while reading! It’s a unique Regency romance I highly recommend. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author & publisher. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.

This was so much fun. I adored how the author included Muriel's love of baking in the story. I found it intriguing to learn about Captain, who later became Earl of Draycott, and Muriel's approach to finding a suitable match for her was fascinating to me. I liked observing Muriel and Erik become close friends. It was entertaining. This is a wonderful adventure that will make you smile. I liked the mystery and the natural faith thread. This is a fantastic way to launch a new series.

Grace writes the best characters. This book was very good and had great banter. I loved the meet cute and will remember it for a long time. The reason for only four stars was because it was incredibly cheesy in a couple spots. But I will read all of Graces books because the plots, characters and overall enjoyability. Thank you for the ARC

Author Grace Hitchcock has written her first Regency novel. It is my first Regency to read so I was a little lost with the different titles, i.e., Duke, Earl, even Coronet. Perhaps including an index or glossary would be helpful for readers like me. Otherwise, Google Search to the rescue! Checks the boxes for romance, historical fiction, and a fun, feisty heroine.

I've read a few other Grace Hitchcock books, but this is her first Regency Era book. She knocked it out of the park!

I enjoyed the romance part of the story as well as the intrigue aspects as well. It was a well rounded book that kept my attention throughout.

I loved the fact that Muriel was a baker and that the author included a recipe for scones in the notes at the end. I am definitely going to try making them!

Muriel and Erik's meet cute was great! The nod to Little Mermaid... Love!

There was plenty of humor and the side characters added much enjoyment as well. Looking forward to seeing more of the in future books!

To Catch a Coronet by Grace Hitchcock is the first in a new series called Best Laid Plans. I've only read Grace Hitchcock's 2 previous books set in the American gilded age, so I had no idea what to expect with her new one. As a lover all things Jane Austen and the Regency time period, I was admittedly excited. I was so right to be so. I really loved this tale about a baker's daughter and her mishaps that leads her to London where she meets a Captain of a ship. It's a book of adventure, misadventure, spies, pirates, high society, and love. I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out all the whodunits. It was exciting. A book that sweeps you away in both romance and adventure. I also appreciated that the author wrote acknowledgments and some history about events taken place in the book. It was a clean faith based regency novel that will leave you breathless. There was also an epilogue and I loved that too. I can not wait until book #2 comes out. I'll be first in line for that pre-order. I was given a copy but all opinions are my very own.

To Catch a Coronet was a fantastic read! Grace Hitchcock has done a marvelous job writing her first novel in the English regency era. This story was passionate, moving, loving, witty, adventurous, and had an epic conclusion!!! I cannot wait to read more stories in this series!

Ms. Hitchcock has flawlessly made the leap back in time to Regency England from her previous Gilded Age romances. This engaging tale pairs baker and recent heiress Muriel Beau with Captain Erik Draycott.
When they meet, Muriel mistakes Eric for a delivery man and Erik mistakes Muriel for the kitchen help in Sir Ingram’s household. As the story unfolds, they are attracted to each other. Muriel is an unconventional heiress and uses baking as a way to relax and think things through. Erik has his own secrets to hide in order to act for the Prince Regent and his country.
Full of opulent settings, subterfuge, spys and danger, it is not short on romance, humor and noble causes. Erik and Muriel never lose sight of their faith as they navigate society in 1813.
Such an atmospheric story that will resonate with historical fiction lovers. This will have you wanting to take English Tea. Thankfully, there is a delicious looking recipe for scones included.
I am looking forward to what will happen for friends Vivienne and Tess in the next two books.
