This one was cute and fun to read. This title is about a group of seventy-somethings living out their retirement on a cruise ship. Emily, one of our "shippers", is also a notorious matchmaker. There's also a little bit of murder mystery thrown in for good measure. I thought the pacing was fun and it was a very quick read. It had lots of humor and hijinks with a little bit of an "Only Murders in the Building" vibe.
This book was so good! I loved it so much! I was laughing so much at the meddling grannies! I mean who doesn’t love some meddling old ladies!! Not only are they driving Lacey crazy trying to fix her up with her ex John who happens to be the new cruise director but they are also trying to solve the mystery of who is smuggling cocaine on their beloved cruise ship! As you can imagine hilarity ensues but there is also fantastic faith content in the book! It has a little bit of everything, what’s not to love? I can not wait for the next book and see these meddling grannies try to find someone for Lacey’s friend Abby!!
This was a fun read with just a bit of mystery and who-done-it to keep the story moving. I found the setting of a cruise ship unique; it added to the fun of the whole story. The contrast of the two intersecting storylines made for some hilarious moments. Combined with the constantly changing ideas and chaotic plans of the Shippers, the story moved along at a comfortable pace.
I found the character of the lead Shipper – Emily – a lovable personality that anyone would be pleased to have invested in their life. She has such a heartfelt purpose that she cannot see any boundaries. This is both endearing and maddening, as Lacey feels firsthand. Emily brings us a beautiful picture of living life and enjoying it, pushing others to do the same. She and her friends are a unique, quirky bunch that really makes the storyline.
This is an enjoyable read that I don’t mind recommending to any adult or older teen. It is not suitable for younger readers, though it is completely clean. There are mentions of a murder happening out of the scenes of the story and there is the mystery of drug smuggling, which is why I would put the limit at older teens. A fun, clean romance story with a “happily-ever-after”.

This book was filled with shenanigans, laugh out loud moments and a hint of mystery. The Shippers were such unique and lovable, I enjoyed the cruise setting and the seamless way this story flowed. I’m looking forward to this author’s next book!
Love Overboard was a complete HOOT! One night while I was reading the "Love Boat" theme song from the 70's came on and I was rolling! The "Shippers" are a fun group of ladies that will remind you of the Golden Girls. These Golden ladies have set their eyes on making a match while onboard and it turns into the hilarity of the season.
We see Ms. Dunlap's writing ability soar with the mystery she wove in and around the rom-com. It made the book different and so enjoyable. I am looking forward to the next installment.

Such a fun cruise rom com! I've been on several cruises myself, and found myself laughing my way through this book.
This story not only has a good bit of humor, it also has a mystery woven in.
The main characters. Well, first there is Lacey, the cruise director. And then there are the Shippers...four elderly ladies who have been on many cruises (basically they've decided it's more advantageous to live on a cruise ship than at a nursing home), and they pride themselves on making matches for young people they meet. In this story, they have their sights set on Lacey.
There's also Jonathan. He and Lacey have a past, but the sparks are definitely still there.
So, they meet again aboard the ship, and the Shippers catch on quickly that there is something going between them, so they do all they can to help this relationship along.
The results are absolutely hilarious.

I really enjoyed this Romcom. I love the Shippers and their meddling ways. I thought the story was entertaining and funny and the characters were a delight. I really hope that there are more stories with the Shippers. I loved how unique each of the older ladies were but how well they worked together in their matchmaking. I also liked that this story showed how older people can have a positive influence on younger people as they share there wisdom. I also liked the romance between Jon and Lacey. I liked that they got another chance at love and I liked how they were able to work through their difficulties. I highly recommend this book.

Love Overboard is an adorable summer read. The Shippers (think Golden Girls type matchmakers) added humor and mischief to Lacey and Jon's sweet love story. The cruise ship setting is super fun for a lighthearted summer read.
A remarkably fun Love Boat x Golden Girls romance that is a perfect summer beach read. A little mystery (nothing too disturbing), charming romance, and LOL characters that will have you turning the page.
Four meddling ladies aka The Shippers with a specialty in matchmaking aboard a cruise ship...one female cruise employee (Lacey) resistant to love...and a criminal aboard smuggling drugs. This combination equates to grins aplenty as the cruise ship travels from port to port.
Enjoyed getting a glimpse of what it's like to travel and work on a cruise ship. It's an interesting premise that The Shippers choose to live on a cruise ship rather than a traditional retirement community. Better meals, better entertainment, etc.
Cute cover!
Love Overboard is a sweet romantic comedy with a hint of danger thrown in. And lots and lots of hints of love. I laughed quite often at the team of matchmakers. They definitely are giving it their all. While the targets of their love matches are definitely not going to make this easy.
I'm not normally a huge reader of romance books. This one was romance and comedy but also had some fun small bits of danger thrown in as well. Drug smugglers to be exact. So much fun. I literally had my side hurting from laughing so much during the reading of this book.
The matchmakers have their work cut out for them this time. They're going to set Lacey up. . . with her ex. Lacey and her ex are not in agreement with this and that's where half the comedy comes from.

What an adorable, engaging story! Love Overboard is a fun RomCom, cozy mystery, which captured me from page one, and kept me reading, and guessing, to the final page.
Who doesn't love a set of meddling grandmothers who claim to be matchmakers? Except maybe the subjects of their matchmaking schemes...
I have never been on a cruise (it's on my wish list!), but I felt like I was aboard the ship, visiting the various ports.
If you enjoy a fun Romcom, cozy mystery, aboard ship, you will certainly want to add this to your TBR list!
I received a complimentary copy. These opinions are my own.
I couldn’t stop reading this hilarious novel about a group of modern-day-Golden-Girls-turned-matchmakers-turned-undercover-agents in their quest to bring together couples and bust a drug ring operation aboard their cruise ship.
The characters are lovable, the plot is just silly enough to be believable, and author Shannon Sue Dunlap is the queen of tummy-tickling metaphors. My only disappointment is Dunlap’s missed opportunity to share the Gospel through her work, though she does discuss God and prayer throughout the story.
If you’re looking for a light-hearted laugh-out-loud read, then Love Overboard is definitely for you! Let this one bypass your TBR list, and jump right in!

This is such a fun story! I loved the unique premise of Emily and her 3 friends being retirees and/or widows living on a cruise ship and enjoying setting up couples among the staff. They all appreciate the hard work that Lacey puts into her hostess job and the caring heart she has for those around her. When they set their sights on setting Lacey up with her ex, things get interesting! I loved the humor in this story, but I also appreciated that it was balanced with some seriousness, like why Lacey ran the first time she and Jon were together. I also love the way faith is woven into the story. I look forward to the next book in this series!
I received this book from Just Read. This is my honest review.
A lighthearted rom-com about faith and friendship, full of over the top situations and characters!
Set on a cruise ship, four retiree friends are on a mission to help others find love, but their targets are less than willing. It was a fun read, with an intriguing plot, romance, and great characters. Clean banter, with a touch of mystery, with strong themes of faith. I liked the twists along the way, but wished that I had gotten to know some of the other (besides Emily) "Shippers" a little better in this book, and hope that I get to know them better in future books.
Overall, a fun-filled read with an engaging plot, humorous situations. I'm excited to read more in the series and follow more of their escapades!

Love Overboard is the first book I have read written by Shannon Sue Dunlap. It was an easy read, well written and rich in vocabulary. Full of wit and adventure. It was truly an enjoyable read. I look forward to reading some more books by Shannon Sue Dunalp.
The character development was good. I enjoyed getting to know each and everyone. The Shippers brough a fun dynamic to the storyline. I hope to be that cool one day, scheming and playing match maker for the crewmates. Getting to the interlayers of Lacey was fun to.
The relationship between Lacey and Jon was sweet. Lacey tried her hardest to deny the relationship was anything. The Shippers worked hard to rekindle the relationship. It was fun watching the ways that they tried to match make. Overall, the relationship was sweet and nothing over the top.
The storyline was fairly good. I enjoyed the setting of the cruise ship. Having gone on my first cruise this year, it really brought the story to life. I enjoyed the mix of mystery as Jon was on the lookout for who was smuggling drugs on the cruise ship. It was the prefect mix of rom-com with a light dusting of mystery.
Shannon Sue Dunlap does a fairly good job intertwining faith throughout the book. I always appreciate when Christian fiction points back to God.

“Love Overboard” is a contemporary Christian romcom. Lacey works on the cruise ship and 4 older retired ladies that jump from cruise to cruise are aboard the Monarch. They like to meddle and match make, better known as the “ shippers”. They were quite funny and I could totally see a movie being made off this. Emily and Lacey were always keeping eachother on their toes . Jon and Lacey have history and it’s entertaining to read what the shippers will do to go out of their way for pushing these two together. Retired life on a cruise sounds easy and fun for these ladies! There is a mystery involved which will keep you interested as well. This is a fun read that would be perfect for the beach or summer. These ladies will make you laugh easily.

Love Overboard by Shannon Sue Dunlap Cruise hijinks and mystery
Lacy, Jon and the Shippers invite readers to join them on this fun cruise read. The meddling Shippers draw everyone into their antics as they work to facilitate a shipboard romance that Lacy doesn’t want, while searching out stealth intrigue on board. Who said meddling couldn’t be fun!
“The Shippers are after me.”
Love Overboard by Shannon Sue Dunlap is a hilarious, LOL a minute cozy mystery. While the main protagonists are Lacy Anderson, the cruise ship’s hostess, and Jonathan King, the new cruise director, it is the Shippers that are the scene stealers.
Four Septuagenarians, all widowed or never married, led by Emily Windsor, live on the Monarch cruise line ship and occupy their time on board by targeting various people to become a successful product of the matchmaking shenanigans. And Emily and her posse are an impossible force to reckon with!
You get an idea of Emily’s personality quickly as the novel starts out and she thinks of the first mate, Peter. “His frowsy white-blond hair and pasty complexion combined with his pristine uniform to give him the appearance of a skinny, befuddled ear swab.” Oy, vey, you know these ladies are going to be a hoot!!
Lacy and Jon had dated a few years prior, but Lacey suddenly disappeared from the relationship, and when Jon requires an answer as they re-acquaint, her reply is that they were only friends. Even as the over-the-top, extremely creative and invasive machinations of the Shippers throw Lacy and Jon together in situations that should encourage a romance, Lacey gives out mixed signals. Why is she acting interested one moment and like an ice princess the next?
Jon, for all his determination that Lacey is the one for him, is hiding a few secrets.
Why he is really on this particular ship as cruise director? What is his relationship with his boss? I hear the song, “Honesty”by Billy Joel in my head for background for these scenes.
And the mystery is just right for a cozy. Drugs are somewhere are the ship, but where? Who deserves the retired FBI agent’s suspicions and who is a waste of his time following? And, in Jon’s opinion, how does such a bumbling detective deserve the important task given him?
One more thought. There is a faith element in this book, with a great question posed more than once by snoopy Emily, “ Did you pray about it?” Simple, direct, and convicting! I also loved that Dunlap presents swearing, a lot, but cleanly, creatively, and effectively! Amante, a troublesome passenger and known online reviewer, releases plenty of blue streaks to describe dissatisfaction with any little or big imposition. “Words poured from his mouth like dirty water from a sanitation hose. If he were on television, the censor’s finger would tire of pressing the bleep button.” “Did this guy swallow a four-letter dictionary?”I really love it when writers describe swearing so well, yet the reader doesn’t have to read actual cuss words!
I also love that by the end of the novel, we are not left with a cliff-hanger, but we are given enough of a preview of the sequel that I am salivating for that one!!
I received a copy of the book from Celebrate Lit via NetGalley. I also bought my own ecopy. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.
Notable Quotables:
“There are two things you can’t avoid in life: love and death. Be prepared for whichever one comes first.”
“verbal atomic bomb” [ Ha, I want to remember and use this one!!]
“He watched her leave. Again. Like they were stuck on a sick, twisted carousel, going around and around but never getting anywhere. What were the secret words that would make her stay?”
“But pushy people can also push others away.”
This was such a fun and unique adventure as we meet four elderly women who live on a cruise ship most of the time. That is an interesting retirement situation, but it works for them, and kind of sounds like fun. Not only that but they have earned the nickname the Shippers, as they focus primarily on making matches for love worn people.
Well, Lacey wants no part of their scheming on her love life. She is just fine, even if she just wants to stay alone for her life. That is until she literally runs into the one man that could have given her her fairy tale life. If only she hadn't run away from him. Now both she and Jon are working on the same cruise ship, often finding themselves together thanks to the Shippers.
Jon has never gotten over Lacey, and while he would still like their relationship to resume, he does need closure on why and how she left him the last time. Not only that but he has been tasked by his family to look into some criminal activity aboard the cruise ships. And the Shippers are not making his life easy either.
With laugh out loud moments, especially the scenarios these energetic, funny, and mischievous women cook up, this cruise ship will have a lot more excitement than normal. Brace yourself for many fun times and almost kisses with a mystery and possible murder thrown in. I have never been on a cruise ship before, but the author's deftly told tale had me feeling all the fun on the waves.
