Itty Bitty Betty Blob has stolen my heart.

Gosh this read was just the cutest. If your looking for a unique story of let your true colors shine, this is it. Follow along with Betty Blob, a student at a monster school. While the school and the world around Betty Blob are focused on all things scary, Betty Blob has an eye for color and a love for all things whimsical, and no amount of trying to change her will make her shine less bright or make her let go of her true self.

I highly recommend this books as an addition to any little one’s library. I certainly plan to.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

I absolutely loved this little book. Itty Bitty Betty Blob is an adorable picture book that shows talks about self-acceptance, diversity, and encourages us to embrace our true selves even when others expect conformity. Betty is different from her little monster classmates. She loves painting pretty pictures, dancing among the flowers, and obeying the rules. Unlike the other little monsters, she has no desire to be mischievous or frightening, and her attempts at making scary faces were not the best.

Picture day is coming soon, and Betty is afraid she is not as scary as her classmates, and that her scowls and scary faces are not good enough. But Betty meets new friends who show her that it is okay to share her true self and that being different can be a good thing.

Itty Bitty Betty Blob is an adorable picture book with beautiful illustrations, and I so enjoyed it. The pictures of the little monsters are in black and white and move into rich full color once Betty meets the puffs. This story has such a lovely message about self-acceptance.

Thanks to NetGalley, Astra Publishing House/Hippo Park for an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest feedback.

The book description says it's aimed at 4-8 y/o's.....& I'd probably agree with that.... School picture taking will probably be something the kids can relate to, & individual ideas too. The coloring choices are probably good for emphasis too...........but for some reason that I can't 'put a finger on'......the characters just didn't overly appeal to this adult.....but maybe that will be more available to the little kids! I do enjoy reading to little ones, & would certainly read it to a kid......it was ok......
I received a digital ARC of the book from Astra Publishing House/Hippo Park via NetGalley for review purposes. These opinions are my own.

Itty Bitty Betty Blob follows the story of Betty, an ugly duckling who is too cute for monster school. Adorable illustrations, I think children as well as adults will enjoy this. Half the story is in black and white, with a colourful reveal reminiscent of The Wizard of Oz's turn to technicolor.

The illustrations, all done up in pinks and grays is sure to turn those little frowns upside down. And there is a message from Betty… "You don't have to try so hard to be like everyone else, being yourself is enough.”

Picture Day is coming up and that expression you make will be frozen in time so its up to you to create right look that is you.. For Betty it’s a lot of pressure, because she's not so good at making the expected monster faces. You see Betty likes rainbows and dandelions a lot more than being scary. But then there’s that day when something momentous happens and everything turns around for the best.

Precious picture book for ages 3-7 with a little character named Itty Bitty Betty Blob. I liked the illustration where Betty is asleep in her bed… her blob self completely spread over her bed with her little red lips and hair bow atop her pink head.

I hope we see more adventures of this sweet character by Constance Lombardo and the talented illustrator Micah Player.

This is a delightfully sweet book about being yourself no matter what anyone thinks. Betty is absolutely adorable and I really hope this becomes a series because I think that kids will really enjoy the spooky sweet vibe of this one. Highly recommend to all libraries serving children, especially those in the stage looking for easy readers.

What a cute little book! The core message: You be you. Love that!
Betty is a monster but doesn't seem to fit in at Ghoulington Academy (school for monsters). She doesn't like gloomy typical monster stuff and doesn't like to be scary. She likes rainbows, flowers and smiling.
Betty is getting ready for Picture Day at school. She is picking out an outfit with her mom and practicing her Picture Day face. She ends up trying to dress horrendous like all the other monsters for Picture Day. On the way to school that day, she runs into a batch of colorful puffs that turn Betty into well, Betty. All flowers, pretty and smiling. In the end Betty's fellow school monsters embrace her for her individuality. They even have fun with the colorful puffballs. Betty brings home her school picture and her mother proudly displays it as "Perfectly Betty". The author even adds a page of rhyming that kids will enjoy.
The illustrations are truly awesome. The monster-themed ones are black and white until Betty meets the colorful puffs and then the book is full of color. The drawings are so detailed they might even be super appealing to parents/caregivers. I know I spent a lot of time looking at the group monster pictures. Clever!
Overall, great book and message. Bravo!

It is picture day at monster school, but Betty doesn’t feel like growling like everyone else because her nature is to be smiling and positive. She practices a monster face but wonders if she will be able to pull it off. The digitally created cartoonish illustrations are dominated by black and gray, except for Betty who is pink and colorfully dressed. The text includes both sentences and dialog balloons, and there is some repetition that will assist emergent readers. Many children will relate to Betty’s conflict with her inner personality and the need to fit in with others at school, and the resolution shows she doesn’t need to compromise her spirit.

This story was so cute. I loved the illustrations and thought that the color scheme of the entire book was so good. My 4 year old loved the story and was super loving the way that Betty showed everyone who she was. This story line and the message that was being taught here. I think that its important for kids to have confidence in who they are. I can't wait to add this one to our home library.

Just look at that cover! How can I, a big cover lover, just resist that? Oh, and the blurb was cute as well, but the cover was the first thing I noticed, haha.

In this book we meet a monster called Itty Bitty Betty Blob (yes, so cute and it fit her to a tee) who is well, not like all other monsters. For one she is full of colour whereas we see everything around her was black/white (which I really loved as it brought out even more how different she was). She loves frolicking and dancing.. the other monsters are more for stomping and BOOM destruction. We do see that she tries, though haha, when your growls just turn into La-la-las and you don't look particularly fierce even in the most scary outfit your mom has.... well you just have to face it. And so I was all aboard the seeing if Betty would either try to get scary... or if Betty would find something else/would just be happy with her blobbish and cute self.

I really ADORED what happens next in this story and it just made me smile in more way than one. It was just the cutest way to go with the story and I also love how the illustrations worked so well with this part. Especially that later part when the day is over, that was just perfectly done by the illustrator. A-plus!

The ending was just the sweetest. Go mom is all I will say!  She is so sweet and supportive be it Betty being more fierce or Betty just being her perfect self. I also hope that Betty's classmates will keep a bit of colour in them after all this!

The illustrations, well, I guess you know I love them since i have been gushing over them already, I really love the style. The various monsters that one could see were fun, but I also loved that no blob is the same. Sometimes blob monsters are mostly samey so I was delighted to see Betty's family wall!

All in all, a gorgeous picture book about being yourself, finding colour in your life, and just have fun no matter what! It is such a positive book and one I definitely needed in my life at this point! Highly recommended!

This was absolutely charming! This cute book is a safe way to have conversations with kids about embracing who they are on the inside no matter what other people think. I would comp this book with Flavia Z. Drago’s Gustavo Universe, especially Vlad the Fabulous Vampire. The illustrations and coloration is gorgeous. I can see how all of the little details in the background would be great for kids to notice upon multiple re-reads. As a parent, I want a physical copy for my daughter who loves books like this. As an educator, I want this book as well for classroom read aloud. Thank you to NetGalley and Astra Publishing House for the opportunity to read this ARC. All opinions are my own.

Little blob Betty lives in a town full of monsters. She wants to be bad, but eventually, she rolls right into being a good monster once more. When the annual picture day comes around, Betty is stumped. How can she master the scary face? With the help of a tiny friend, Betty realizes her potential and gives her classmates something to smile about.
This was so cute! I absolutely adored this picture book. Betty is a little determined blob monster who loves bright colors and fashionable looks. Her mother helps her along the way as Betty tries different faces for picture day at school. Her little friends are bright and bouncy, and I liked how they encouraged Betty to be herself throughout the day. It's a positive read for any monster fan!

Betty is such a little cutie! I loved this whole book. A fun pick for kiddos who love monsters and those who love pink alike!

❤️ Beautiful artwork. Loved the variations of grey and black, combined with the burst of colors towards the end was so visually pleasing!
❤️ Great vocabulary words. I don't think I've ever read "putrid" in a picture book before, and I love the additions of "dreary" and "frightful."
❤️ The storyline is similar to other books about 'being unique,' but Betty was adorable and the book is so beautiful it hardly concerns me. More stories on positive inclusivity!

I can think of several patrons who would enjoy this book, and the dialogue bubbles make this a great consideration for a Storytime at the library.

This was super duper cute. I loved the message of that it's okay to be different and I thought it was so great with the little monsters. I love the illustrations and how Betty stood out from everything else.

It's picture day at Ghoulington Academy and Itty Bitty Betty Blob is nervous about giving her best scowl and scary face. Betty isn't like her other monster classmates, she likes to follow the rules, wear bright colors, and dance amond the dandelions. When she meets some new friends, she quickly learns that being different is okay and can even make life more fun.

Itty Bitty Betty Blob is a story about self expression and how it is okay to stick out from the crowd. The contrasting illustrations paired with Constance Lombardo's witty story is sure to make any reader adore Betty and her bright colors. This quick paced picture book is a great way to introduce a child to the concept of diversity and self acceptance.

Many thanks to NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is a very cute and funny picture book about how you can enjoy being yourself. Picture day comes with a lot of stress, and Betty is on her way to school, but she gets sidetracked by the beautiful things in nature she enjoys. The use of color helps tell the story, and the pinks and grays are so pretty. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
