I'm glad Goble updated his earlier version. This account told by Red Hawk is updated to show latest research that has been done regarding Custer's Last Stand. Goble's comments in italics make it clear where he as a secondary source is explaining details. Well done text and pictures tell the Native American point of view.

There are not enough books telling history from a Native American standpoint, so this is a great addition for kids. We've used Goble books for years in our homeschool and I was always under the impression that he was Native American himself. It is a little concerning that Dakota history is still being taught by a white man, especially one who grew up in England. That said, Goble does an excellent job of telling the story and the art is beautiful.
