The overview of Swiped totally grabbed my attention, and I thought it was even more fitting since I met my hubby online (yay for POF days haha). Anyways, this book was entertaining and fun. It was a fast read, with some twists and turns. It kept my interest the whole time.
i really wanted to love this because the premise sounded interesting and unique, but it ultimately fell quite flat for me and was a bit too chaotic i fear.
maybe this would've been a lot more fun on audio, i can see this being fun with a cast of characters, but reading it wasn't for me. also the crazy fiancee trope was just the vibes.
thanks to the publisher and net galley for the e-ARC!

What would you if you were fresh out of a relationship, just dipping your toes into the world of dating & your dates start showing up dead? Well if you’re Gwen Turner - start investigating yourself of course!
Like many of my booksta friends my mind was blown when I realized the author is a man 😱
@lmchilton nailed so many aspects of the female dating experience! From my perspective anyway!
This was a delightful cozy read and Gwen was giving Bridget Jones/Finlay Donovan vibes!
If you’re in the mood for the horrors of dating with a side of murder, this is your read!
Grateful to Gallery Books/Scout Press and NetGalley for my ARC in exchange for an honest review!
A fun, fast-paced, everyone is a suspect murder mystery. It was a little cringe-y and eye-rolly in parts, but I still enjoyed this quick read.

Swiped is an enjoyable, easy to read thriller that skewers the experience of dating apps. I enjoyed the tone of the writing and the main character. I found the plot sort of jumped the shark in the last third, but overall enjoyed the final twist. This is a fun summer read, and I would read more by this writer!
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great concept! Kind of silly, kind of fun, but all of the characters were kind of unlikable. If it was paced a bit slower and the main characters were better developed it would've been so much better! But I can appreciate an insane plot!
"Swiped" was a blast to read, probably because I have a thing for characters who are a total mess. It’s way more interesting than stories about people who have everything sorted out.
Gwen Turner just dumped her boyfriend and now she's stuck running their coffee shop solo, which they originally started together. To shake things up, she hops on a dating app, but every date turns into an epic fail. Things get even crazier when a series of murders hits her small town, and all the victims are guys Gwen met through the app. Suddenly, she's not just unlucky in love; she’s a suspect in a murder investigation, and terrified she might be next on the killer’s list.
This book packs in a lot of laughs and it’s perfect for kicking back and just going along for the ride. The big reveal at the end was a bit underwhelming, but the rest of the book was so fun, I didn’t mind much.
Gwen totally gives me Izzy Spellman vibes from Lisa Lutz’s Spellman series, so if you dig that style, "Swiped" should be on your list. Can’t wait to see what L.M. Chilton comes up with next.
Swiped is a funny murder mystery with a bit of romance about Gwen who has recently broken with her longtime boyfriend ,quit her good paying job to run their dream coffee truck business, and who’s best friend is about to be married and leaving her on her own in their shared apartment. In an attempt to escape her current reality Gwen takes to Connecter the dating app and beings swiping. After a serious of unfortunate dates, the men end up dead and Gwen is now the prime suspect….
This was a fun read! Swiped checks all my boxes for a perfect beach read:
- [ ✅] mysterious/suspenseful
- [ ✅] low stakes
- [ ✅] funny
- [ ✅ ] fast paced
I had fun reading this and truly didn't guess the ending. Many thanks to NetGalley & Simon & Schuster Canada | Gallery/Scout Press for a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
If ghost face was on dating apps!
I truly enjoyed it, It was fast pace and funny.
Thanks for the copy and I wish you success!
3.75/5!
All Gwen wants is to find love after her heart is broken, relying on a dating app to lead the way. Little does she know, her best friend has taken over in an attempt to get revenge.
The plot of this was interesting. Gwen sleeps with best friend’s fiancé, best friend gets revenge by going on a murder spree of all her Connector (think: Tinder) dates, as Gwen is obsessed with the app. Best friend hacks the algorithm of the app and Gwen lets her escape police custody at the end by giving her a head start to run away (one last valiant effort of a friend?).
In an age of social media and a time where most people meet their dates on dating apps, I was quite surprised to see that this was the first novel to take that concept and run with it… with a side of murder.
I enjoyed that I was guessing throughout the entirety of it to figure out who Parker actually was, and even when it was first revealed to be Sarah, I was a bit shocked. I do however find that this book went from 0-100 as some of the filler felt kind of dull, but then suddenly Gwen was on another date and then the guy gets murdered. This probably could have been a bit shorter but the twist at the end was a nice touch.

Thank you to NetGalley, L.M Chilton, and Gallery/Scout Press for the ARC in exchange for my review. This book is a solid 3.5 read for me rounded up to 4. Gwen was such a great character. She's brave, snarky, and hilarious. She's inquisitive and wouldn't take no for an answer.
This book was an easy read, short to medium length chapters. It was a good page turner although a tad on the longer side. The main characters were likeable and easy to follow their stories. Sarah was the obnoxious best friend from the very first page to the last page.
It wasn't the most realistic story, but I think that's what makes it a good read. Some aspects were pretty far-fetched and unlikely to occur. There was predictable moments, however I changed my opinion on the killer numerous times.
This was a light-hearted comedic thriller. Great book for a nice summer day.

Swiped is a thriller involving a string of bad dates, a dating app, and a serial killer. It’s darkly comical at times, and sentimental at some points. This book didn’t pick up for me until the 50ish% mark which is when I thought I figured out the suspect. I think Gwen’s naïveté paired with her wreckless sleuthing kind of annoyed me. I had to remind myself constantly that she is NOT a professional PI/detective/police by any means and she is allowed to be an eager clueless amateur crime-solver.
I never used a dating app because I met my husband 15 years ago (pre-dating apps) in university, dated him for 10 years, and been married to him for 4. I was (still am) the friend who did lend a listening ear to friends who vented or gushed about the dates they met through these apps. I can relate to one of the characters in this book as that friend. This book is critical of dating apps, painting them in a bad light. In a lucky twist of fate, more than 90% of my girlfriends who married their significant others actually met them on dating apps or dating websites!
Overall, if you’re in the mood for a thriller without too many frills, then this might be a good pick for you.

I really enjoyed this book! There was even a mention of the city I live in so that made me fangirl!
Poor Gwen having guys that she went on first dates with ending up dead! I had fun guessing who might be the killer throughout the book and the flashbacks to the dates she went on. I might ave giggled a few times too! There was light spice what I appreciate a lot.
It’s a really quick read and I think it’s for sure helped me through my book slump.
I give this book 3.5 stars.
This book was a fairly quick read. I think I finished it in just under 5 hours total (but I tend to read books quickly).
Brief synopsis:
Swiped it a thriller/murder mystery where the FMC Gwen is the prime subject trying to clear their name from the suspect pool. She consistently finds herself in compromising situations that don’t help her clear her name. We follow along with her journey to find who the real killer is (dun dun duuuuuun).
My review:
This book kept me guessing until the end. I wasn’t able to figure out who the killer was until about the last quarter of the book. The ending did feel a little bit rushed. I felt like it needed something else. To me it felt like the ending was wrapped up nicely in a bow. I felt myself saying “that’s it!?” once everything was explained at the end.
I would have also like to know a bit more about the characters. It felt like a lot of backstory was left out. But to me that seemed intentional.
All in all, I would recommend Swiped to someone.
Thank you NetGalley for this digital arc.

I always enjoy a solid popcorn thriller, and this novel fits the bill! It was short, fast-paced, and easy to read. That, combined with the cool premise, sucked me into this book without trying too hard.
I liked following the murder mystery and trying to figure out who the serial killer was. I thought I had it figured out, but the killer reveal shocked me! I truly didn’t expect the killer to be who it ended up being. But seeing how the murder mystery came together and how the reveal made sense with it all was excellent to read.
I will say that I found parts of this book to be a bit too ridiculous for me to suspend my disbelief. Yes, it’s fiction, I did raise my eyebrows a couple of times. This was especially true at the climax- it felt too far-fetched to enjoy, which is a shame because it was otherwise a solid climax.
I also didn’t totally love the protagonist, Gwen. I did feel bad for her because she was thrusted into an awful situation, but it was hard to do so sometimes due to many of the bad decisions she made. Between that and how negative she could be, it was a tad difficult to root for her sometimes.
I still enjoyed the outcome of this thriller and thought the writing style was strong. I’ll definitely check out more of this author’s work in the future!
“Swiped” follows Gwen, a 20 something year old who’s having a quarter life crisis after a bad break up with her boyfriend.
After a series of bad (terribly bad) dates, which we get a front row seat to, Gwen begins to notice that everyone she’s dated is starting to turn up dead.
This book is a fun murder mystery, my recommendation is to not go in expecting a suspenseful thriller, but more a satire murder mystery. Enjoy the quick paced light hearted fun without taking it too seriously.

Gwen has recently broken up with her boyfriend Noah, and is determined to dive back into the world of dating, with a dating app called Connector. But soon, Gwen starts getting ominous messages on the app, and after a visit from the police, she discovers that all the men she’s gone on a date with through the app are winding up dead. Not convinced the police are taking things seriously, she decides to start her own investigation, which turns out to be even more dangerous than she could imagine.
It took me a while to get invested in this book, but once I was hooked, I couldn’t put it down. Our main character Gwen makes some very questionable decisions, but I had to keep going to find out what was going on. There were some humorous scenes in this book that made me laugh, and while this was slightly over the top, it was a really engaging book, and I enjoyed it.
What would you do if people you dated started turning up dead? Well, that’s the premise of Swiped! The story follows Gwen, a twenty-something who’s life, let’s be honest, is in a downward spiral after breaking up with her ex-boyfriend Noah. She’s been on a series of bad dates, and her best friend Sarah is about to get married and move out leaving her roommate-less.
Here’s what I liked. The premise was fun and I enjoyed following Gwen on her bad dates. And even though I guessed the mystery early on, there were a few good red herrings that had me thinking I might of got it wrong. The pace was also fast, making this a very easy read.
What fell flat for me was the main character. Gwen felt one dimensional and I didn’t really connect with her, or feel for her despite the traumatic circumstances she found herself in. I also found some of the dialogue a bit silly and the writing heavy handed. And Gwen’s relationship with the detective…really? And the ending….again, really?
Overall, not my favourite mystery I’ve read but not the worst, and I could see this being a fun summer beach read.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this advance readers copy in exchange for an honest review. Do you want a light hearted serial killer funny book? This fits the bill!!! Say less! This one is for you! Didn't go to sleep till I finished this one!!!
The ending and plot twist was not great tbh. Many things weren't explained or well written. However, it was a funny read!
