This is my first book by this author but won’t be the last. The characters are exceptionally developed. The ending was a surprise. I loved everything about this book.
This was a new to me author and I was excited to jump into the book. It followed a thriller storyline that has been used before, but I think the unique twists made it an interesting read. Gave me Rebecca vibes (which is one of my favorite books).
Despite feeling a little like Verity, I enjoyed how the authors built up the characters to make it unique. We got to know Ana and Dr. Danvers (which I have to believe is an ode to Rebecca) falling in love after his wife disappears. Ana falls right into the life with the luxurious house, wealthy husband, and stepdaughter. All is well until Presley is found and now Dr. Danvers has to deal with his wife and new partner, all with the added layer of his mother in law making Ana’s life a living hell.
I didn’t understand Ana and her actions throughout the book. It was a weird mix of insecure but also a little delusional and sad. She did irritate me at time but I can also understand how frustrating it must be to live in the shadow of someone “perfect”.
Like I mentioned, we’ve seen this storyline many times but I did enjoy the character build up. Some of the plots were predictable but still engaging. I liked the bonus chapters of the watcher. If you liked Rebecca, Verity, or the Wife Upstairs- give this one a try!
This book comes out April 25, 2024! Thanks to Netgalley and bookouture for this advanced copy.

Anna is Cary’s present wife. Cary’s last wife Presley, was abducted from her car and never found thus is still missing. Cary and Presley had a baby daughter Harper who now calls Anna Mama. However, living under the shadow of the perfect wife in the same house is difficult for Anna. Additionally Juliet, Presley’s mother is not at all pleased with Anna taking her daughter’s place.
One day Anna overhears something that makes her realize that Cary is not all that perfect. She discovers Presley was abducted from her house – not her car as Cary told her.
Anna cannot help but wonder why he would lie about that?
This was my first Ruhi Choudhary novel and although this wasn’t the Wow I was expecting - I will give her another try.
I am a big fan of thrillers so the first part totally had me. I liked Anna and soon thought "Oh No "what has she gotten herself in.
It was good just not great,
Want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for granting me this early eGalley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for April 25, 2024.

When Anna meets Cary, life is like a fairytale, has she finally found her happily ever after? Life with Cary and Harper is the life Anna dreamed of. The only problem; Cary’s missing wife Presley. This happy family life soon turns into a dark, twisted, claustrophobic life when Anna moves into Cary’s home in Rosedale. Everyone has secrets, and Rosedale is bursting at the seams with them. Can Anna keep her teenage delinquencies a secret from her new friends? What happened to Presley? Who wrote the sinister notes left around the house? Who is always watching?
Wow!!! This was a fun read.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy.
My first book by this author. It was ok but it is not a finish in one sitting kind of book. I would like to see more suspense and twists and turns.
This is one of those domestic thrillers that is a slow burner but the twists left me completely shocked that i had to keep reading, there are triggers but i did enjoy this book.
thanks netgalley and publisher. all thoughts and opinions are my own
I love a good thriller. Something to get the mind working, heart racing and having you on the edge of your seat. Great writing, great characters and a great storyline. Time to clear your schedule for the afternoon, coffee pot on and phone turned off - you won’t want to put this one down.

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
To me the cover art is deceiving.
“Do not go in there, Anna. Never go in there.” The words ring in my head as I pick the lock to the only room in the house that the man I love tells me I’m not allowed to enter. Trembling as I step inside, I’m about to finally find out what happened to his last wife…
This is my first book by Choudhary and it may be the last. "This book contains domestic abuse, emotional abuse, and sexual assault." If this content note had been in the description, I would not have selected this novel.
It started as a great story, but the uneven syntax made it hard to read. I never felt like I got to know the characters because they were not multidimensional. I liked how the book took a turn about halfway through (too bad an early review spoiled it) but it wasn’t enough to save the implausible events.

Because of the TW when I first opened the book. I will unfortunately not be able to read it.
Thank you NetGalley, Ruhi and Bookouture for ARC!
My first novel by this author and it sounded riveting.
Presley, Cary and their daughter Harper have a nice life, until Presley came up missing. The new lady in Cary’s life who is questioning what really happened to Presley is starting to wonder about. Harper is bonding with the new woman.
A diary is found! Is it possible something sinister happened to Presley? Neighbors are talking.
Lots of twist and characters to this complex story.
The tension and pace in this book were so well done, it had me hooked and surprised all the way through.
This was my first Ruhi Choudhary novel so I wasn't sure what exactly to expect. The first chapter was intriguing and I will say that it continued to keep my interest throughout. I often forget that most thriller novels require the reader to exhibit at least some level of suspended belief and this one was no different. Most of the book just had a few things here or there that felt far-fetched but the ending (which came together in a way that allowed for a perfect bow on top in the last few chapters) stepped it up a notch or two. The characters were each difficult to like for their own reasons but I enjoyed that they did all feel fairly thoughtout.
Having completed the novel, I'm genuinely confused by the choice of cover art. I questioned it several times while reading and thought it was going to come out somehow but it just feels misleading and honestly, generic.
Thanks to Ruhi Choudhary, NetGalley, and Bookouture for the ARC.
His Last Wife by Ruhi Choudhary contains domestic abuse, emotional abuse, and sexual assault.
The story was okay and slow in parts. The writing is done well, but the pacing for me was slow.
I may not have been the audience for this particular book and subject. I do like Ruhi Choudhary books and will read more by this author.

I haven’t read anything from this author before so wasn’t sure if I would enjoy this WOW it really enjoyed it so good. It was one of those books once you start you can not put it down. It was full of secrets, action and revenge everything you need for a fantastic thriller. It had many twists and turns which I did not see coming. I can not wait to recommend this fantastic book. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy.
I've never heard of this author before, but then again there are so many out there. From the start the boom starts with a bang till the end. Leaving you indulged the whole time. This was a easy and fast read. Nice thriller and I totally recommend.
OMG!!! This book is now one of my top picks of 2024. This was such an addictive read with so many twists that kept me guessing all the way through it. There were times I found myself gasping and my jaw on the ground with some parts, which I will say I rarely ever do with books. I loved the characters, the writing, and the way this author had me unsure of who to trust throughout the story. This story is told in four parts and alternates between Anna and someone who is referred to as Watcher. If you are unsure if this book is for you or you are undecided then let me help you out....YES! This book is worth the read. Do not sleep on this book, as I see it being one that everyone will be talking about once it has officially been released. Either request this book now if you are on NetGalley or put it on at the top of your TBR as you will not regret it.
Just when I thought I had my head around what was going on in this book it all turned upside down again and I was gobsmacked by the ending. This is one of those thriller that keeps you awake a night as you can’t stop reading. I loved the story of Anna and her love for Harper but the ghost of the missing wife just won’t let her rest. A must have read for 2024!
His Last Wife initially seems to follow a predictable thriller storyline but takes an unexpected twist that kept me turning the pages. Anna believes she has found an ideal partner in Cary and a daughter in Harper but struggles to live in the shadow of his supposedly perfect former wife, Presley, who disappeared a year prior. As the story progresses, Anna realizes Cary may not be as flawless as she thought, and Presley may not be as deceased as she believed. I enjoyed the significant twist ending and minor surprises throughout this worthwhile read, which subverts the expectations set by the blurb.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

I requested this book on NetGalley because the blurb sounded interesting and I’m happy I did! The book was slow paced at the start, and then sweeps you into the tornado that is life in Rosedale, much like how Anna’s life seems calm and well paced until she meets Cary.
The characters were really well developed. Each were introduced to the reader at face value, but their secrets and flaws were slowly revealed as we spent more time in Rosedale.
I did not predict the twists and turns in this book. The author leaves snippets of information that make you think you have the mystery all figured out, and then pulls the rug out from under your feet and shows you how wrong you were. There were so many twists at the end that I think I’ll be unravelling myself for days.
This book is advertised as a psychological thriller, and the description speaks of a husband's secret about his first wife's disappearance. What is missing is the CONTENT NOTE just before the Prologue. It reads, "This book contains domestic abuse, emotional abuse, and sexual assault." If this content note had been in the description, I would not have selected this novel. As soon as I read the note, I did not continue with the book. It may be finely and skillfully written, but it is not my preferred reading material, and it would have been helpful to have the content note visible before the book is downloaded.
Nevertheless, thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
