Fantastic plot! Could not put the book down once I began reading it. Cannot wait for it to be released. I will recommend it to everyone I know!

I was given this book so I could read it and give my opinion on it. Actually the storyline is really great but getting there is a long, slow, confusing journey. I feel like I spent most of the time trying to figure out what was happening and the rest of the time just confused. It takes you in a lot of circles. Again great story but way to much jumping back and forth, way to many crazy people.

Lots of twists and turns and a very complicated friendships that lead too drama. Love this story but I think the book name needs to be changed as the broken marriage was insignificant compared to these messed up friendships

Hannah, Rachel, Alison and Matt share a house while studying. There is an intense and complex female friendships at play.
Matt and Rachel end up getting married. Their relationship is not all that it seems. They both have secrets.
This book covers a lot of different issues from female friendships, manipulation, relationships, childhood experiences etc. Even though it covers so much it links together very well in my opinion. Really loved this book.

There was A LOT to unpack here. I feel like it all would have flowed better if some of the twists were eliminated and saved for another book, as it was interesting enough as it was. Rachel also was extremely unlikable and somehow had everyone wrapped around her finger throughout her life which was confusing in a way. The book itself was still enjoyable, the twists were suspenseful and the writing descriptive.

Thank you to Storm Publishing, NetGalley + the author for my DRC.

"The Broken Marriage" is about our main character, Hannah, who shows up at Matt and Rachel's doorstep during a snow storm, hoping to share her truth about what really happened to her 17-years ago at a party. After spending years running away from her past, she's ready to move forward but doesn't realize the lies that Rachel and Matt have, and the secrets they have slowly start to unravel once she shows up.

Not my favorite thriller but I enjoyed reading from Hannah's POV and trying to unravel the secrets and lies that have been told. Although the characters annoyed me the second-half of the story, I was still pretty invested in their lives. There are a lot of missing pieces that we start to uncover while reading and throughout the story we're left unsure of who we can trust. Overall, an entertaining story that was fast-paced and I definitely did not see the ending coming!

Suspsenful. Unpredictable. Twistful. Surprising. . . All just a few words I’d describe this novel! It was definitely a psychological thriller with ALOT of trippy aspects. I didn’t see the ending coming, not in a million years.

Hannah thinks she’s in control of her past, present, and future; but is she? Rachel and Matt live in the perfect neighborhood and own nice cars, beautiful, nice clothes, and the perfect home. But what looks grand on the outside isn’t so beautiful on the inside. What lies lie within the walls of their happy home?

If you love psychological thrillers and suspenseful reads… than this is your book!

A Very Twisted Relationship.
The Broken Marriage by Elaina Wilkes is the story of Matt and Rachel who are married and their friend Hanna who steps back into their lives after years of no contact with the pair when she dropped out of collage when they were young.
The primary story is about their relationships. The story is told from multiple points of view and a very twisted relationship which at times became a bit confusing. The book is still a gripping read and a good phycological read. Thanks to NetGalley and to the publishers of this book for giving me a free advance copy of the book to preview and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Broken Marriage
By: Elena Wilkes

3 Stars

This book was okay but totally misleading by the title. While it does have some to do with Matt and Rachel's marriage, it was more a story of twisted friendships. The book showed promise and was gripping, but it could be a bit confusing at times. It almost seemed like two stories converged into one. I found the characters interesting. I just wish I had connected to the story better.

☆ Synopsis

Seventeen years after their last meeting that ended in bloodshed, Hannah decides to confront her best friend Rachel, married to her other friend Matt. Hannah’s reappearance stirs up drama and a web of lies from the past that threaten to spill to the surface.

☆ My thoughts

This was a very average book for me, not bad but not the best either. While it was an entertaining read, it was wholly unbelievable at times, and I felt like I was struggling to keep up with what was happening because there were too many random twists that didn’t always make sense. Usually in books like this you at least have a character you can root for, but I found all the characters in this book quite unlikeable. The ending was a let down too as it barely explored the massive revelations that occurred in the last quarter of the book. The title is a bit misleading as this book has almost nothing to do with the marriage of two of the main characters, and much more to do with strange friendships and a hidden secret between two rather manipulative women. Overall, a rather disappointing and forgettable book.

I will not say this is a bad book, I will just say it isn't for me. I cannot connect with any of the characters and they are not likeable at all. I got as far as the prison visitation and I"m just done. DNF at 50%

I am sure many readers will like this book, but unfortunately I am not one of them.

This book definitely shows that there is more under the surface especially when it comes to relationships, full of tension and suspense.

This book got me hooked from the start, you have no idea really no idea about who is lying and who is telling the truth and who’s the craziest in the group.

Each character in this book pissed me off at some point but they’re really well developed and each one of them have their own secrets and motivations. Obsession and betrayal are the main subjects in the plot, twist and turn in every chapter keeping the suspense going and making it hard to stop reading.

It did get confusing in some parts and the ending happened fast but overall, I really liked the storyline and the plot twists are ones I didn’t see coming. Twisted and dark, this psychological thriller is easy and interested to read.

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review. A really good, fast paced, suspenseful thriller that I didn’t want to put down. A story primarily about relationships and all the complications that come with them. The story was told from multiple points of view and I really enjoyed this element as it added texture to the story. A few surprising twists that I didn’t see coming. Highly recommended. 4 stars

Set against the backdrop of a snowstorm, the novel follows the seemingly perfect couple, Rachel and Matt, whose façade begins to unravel with the sudden reappearance of Hannah, Rachel's long-lost best friend. Wilkes skillfully interweaves the dynamics between the characters, gradually building tension and suspense as secrets and lies come to light.

This was one I honestly could not put down. While the characters and motivations were confusing at times, when I reached the end I wanted to jump right back in and read it again...just to see the nuances that I missed the first time around!

With its twists, turns, and unexpected revelations, "The Broken Marriage" is a gripping read that will appeal to fans of psychological thrillers. Thank you to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for this fantastically written journey into obsession, secrets, and lies.

Okaaay ... that was unexpected! Brilliant, but unexpected. This story has twists and turns galore. A cast of characters that all need some very serious psychiatric help and an ending that left me wondering what exactly just happened. The first few chapters feel a little disjointed with the flashbacks and the introduction of the characters, but the further you read, the more it drags you in! You'll be hard-pressed to find a more intriguing psychological thriller than The Broken Marriage!
