"It's one thing to fix things, but keeping them fixed is a whole other story." I don't know if the timing was intentional, but book four of Katie the Catsitter is really reassuring right now. Even superheroes can be bought by wealthy politicians and companies. So we have to know when to step up and save ourselves even when we don't have an army of super-talented cats.

So far people still think Mousetress is a supervillain and that her one-time alter ego Cheesy Justice is the hero, And Cheesy Justice is getting fanmail! How cool is that? Madeline, Moustress's civilian identity, isn't thrilled. She wants Mousetress to be recognized as a hero, and to keep campaigning for animal rights. Easier said than done when the latest corporation wants to take over New York City by building tiny sun-blocking apartments in alleys and between gaps. They have the mayor in their pocket, and he lacks a good track record for animal rights. Also, he hates sidekicks and is banning them from important events. Katie, Madeline's sidekick, suspects that there may be more to the story.

I feel like messing with New Yorkers right now would be a really bad idea, but this is a New York that hasn't seen the dangers of hedge funds buying up buildings and forcing businesses to close shop with higher rents. Instead, it's a New York where villains are quite common, but they don't always wear masks.

The story felt relevant. It shows how, rather than just beating up one bad guy and calling it a day, you need to put in the work consistently. Leaking footage of animal abuse is one thing, but fighting the spin that it's "better" for the animals is another. Putting in the work each time can be tiring. But it has to be done, and not always alone.

One line in particular struck me in the gut: "The mayor doesn't need a "secret lair". He's got Gracie Mansion. He's just a politician. If he's a supervillain, then the 51 percent of the city that voted for him is, too." Because sometimes, a human doesn't need gadgets or an evil laugh to do terrible things. He just needs to bring out the worst in others. And we have seen that happen in real-life time and time again.

A really great installment and shockingly relevant to our current times.

I absolutely adore this series! This fourth installment beautifully enriches the incredible story crafted over the past three books. I am truly captivated by how the author expertly intertwines humor, excitement, and the very real challenges faced by tweens. It’s lighthearted yet touches on deeper themes, including friendship and family dynamics, resonating with countless young readers. Katie is a fantastic protagonist—she’s wonderfully flawed, acknowledges her shortcomings, and earnestly works on them throughout each installment. I truly appreciate the progression of each character's arc and their realistic growth in the face of life's challenges. But let’s be honest, it’s the cats and their myriad diverse talents that truly steal the spotlight!

The Purrfect Plan is another great installment in the Katie the Catsitter graphic novel series. We follow Katie as she supports her friends through real life problems, and assists Madeline with super hero adventures. Their city is being taken over by a shady business corporation, so Katie and co team up to send them out of town for good. This series is full of humor and heart, and the cats appearing on most pages are always a joy to watch! Anyone with a liking for cats will adore this series, with this volume being no exception.

Colleen Venable and her books always deliver, and this book is no exception. Perfect in every way a graphic novel can possibly be – absolutely lovely and gorgeous art paired with perfect storytelling in short sentences. I can’t recommend this book series enough to every middle-grade aged reader who loves cats and graphic novels.

I’m getting more attached to this series as the story continues. This was so fun! I didn’t remember the previous books being this fun. But yet again, I didn’t remember about the plots either.

In this book the problem is a building company that only cares about profit and entirely dismissed animals well-being. And the current No.1 hero Cheesy Justice couldn’t let that happen.

The cats were adorable as ever. Honestly made me want to binge reread the whole series. And I was thrilled to found out that this book will not be the last♥️

Katie the Catsitter continues to charm and delight! In Katie's fourth adventure, she and Madeline stand up for animal and human rights when an up-and-coming building company's inhumanely small apartments threaten to gentrify longstanding communities.

Katie the Catsitter remains one of the best middle-grade graphic novel series on the shelves. Venable's adorable, colorful artwork, stereotype-defying characters, and terrific sense of humor make the series enjoyable on a surface level, and her deft handling of complex social justice issues and everyday problems give it depth. She discusses them with nuance and sensitivity, unafraid to acknowledge obstacles and celebrate small gains. It is a standout in market saturated with titles that present the world in black and white and are determined to shove pointed messages down kids' throats. Highly recommended for kids 9 & up, especially for those who love animals and superheroes. On a personal note, I was so pleased to see the first volume on my state's Battle of the Books list this year!

I love how the characters have developed over the series. The ways of dealing with trouble have to developed too, with plans involving superhero work and citizen work! This one deals with some personal troubles too (people having relationship problems and working on a solution).
