Talk about keeping you on the edge of your seat…this book did NOT disappoint!! I never did figure out the ending and I’m usually really good at predicting these kinds of books. I LOVED IT!!
Loved the audio version of this story! At first it was hard to keep names & stories straight, but as book progressed & you got to know characters, it was great! Just when I thought I had it figured out, there’d be another twist to the story. Would recommend!
A teacher and her son disappear when they are walking home together and the investigation begins. There are ahri lot of twists and turns in this book, which is just what I like in a thriller. While it started out slow, it quickly picked up and the character development was great. This is my first book by this author and I will definitely be looking for more!
Thank you to Bookouture & NetGalley for the audio ARC of this book!
I was instantly gripped by the concept of a substitute teacher arriving in a school - and filling in for a teacher who has gone missing. Naturally she is digging, it's a mystery that anyone in that situation would easily be drawn into. Yet all is not as it seems and the past is catching up with the present.
It had me intrigued and I didn't forsee what would happen as it all unravelled. I enjoy books that keep me questioning and this had me thinking - the red flags aren't always where they seem.
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for my copy of this book.
The Teacher’s Secret by Lauren North
Solid 3 stars
I listened to the audiobook. Great narration, kept me wanting to listen.
A beloved teacher Cate Walker, and her son, Archie vanish one Friday afternoon. What the heck happened? Are they alive or dead? Everyone in the story act guilty in some way or another. Especially that husband of hers…And why is the substitute that was hired to replace Ms Walker sticking her nose where she shouldn’t? Is anyone who they seem to be?
I enjoyed listening to this book and want to read more from Lauren North. Great premise and a fun time.
Thank you to Lauren Nort, Bookouture Audio and Netgalley for this intriguing advance reader copy of The Teachers Secret audiobook. This is my honest opinion.
This is such a great cat and mouse thriller. As many suspicions as you have and as many times as you think you have it figured out, you most certainly do not. I went back and forth and round and round chasing the villain in this story Lol. I think you will enjoy!
This story was told from multiple perspectives. I listened to the audiobook version. There was only one narrator. She did a good, but I think the audiobook version would’ve benefited from a full cast.
The first half of the story was a lot of character build, that I found very slow. The second half really picked up and the book legitimately became a thriller or at the very least more interesting.
There are plenty of secrets to go around from a number of teachers, but I didn’t find any of them to be that extreme or exciting.
I would give this book more of a 2.5. I do appreciate the opportunity from the author and NetGalley for this ARC.
Only first five chapters played then froze and despite restarting it would olay .so unfortunately can't review. Will buy it to finish as what i listened to had me interested
The Teachers Secret
By Lauren North
Cate Walker and her 8 year old son never make it home after school Friday night. Her husband doesn’t report them missing until Saturday. Why would a father and husband wait until the next day to report his wife and son missing.
Did someone kidnap them or murder them?
Thank you to NetGalley and Bolinda Audio for the advanced copy of this audiobook. I really enjoyed listening to this twisty tale.
Not a bad listen.
I liked the multiple POVs not a thriller as such .but some twists and turns worth a listen.
Lots of potential but for me, this one missed the mark. The Teacher’s Secret goes on way too long. There’s some intrigue but things seem to go off in too many tangents. I persevered listening, to the end, only because I was captive on a long bus ride.
The narration was, at times, choppy and voice portrayal seemed inconsistent.
Thank You to NetGalley and Bolinda Audio for the opportunity to listen to this ARC.
Told from multiple point of views, this mystery novel is an easy listen and it kept me entertained on a long commute. Narrator well suited to the novel. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced listener copy.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this excellent book! The mystery was well paced and thought out with an absolutely out of pocket hook.
If you liked: The Teacher
I have no idea what on earth I just read (or rather listened to). I like a decent twist full thriller but the key to one of those is believability. It has to make you go "OMG what?!" but follow that up with enough plot to make the twist make sense. This was just nuts. I found myself rolling my eyes and wishing harm on all the characters, there isn't a single one I was routing for.
There were too many PoVs and although the narrator of the audiobook was pretty decent, I really didn't like the voice she did for the "creepy maybe murderer" and one of the school mums which she made sound like Moira Rose.
This was a really good book! At first I didn’t like the narration. It was too slow paced for me. Bumped it up to 1.5x speed, then it was great! Was easy to follow along with the book. Lots of great twists.
This was super twisty. The cast of characters was pretty unlikable but the ending made up for that! Excellent on audio!
This was a thriller that you can binge in one sitting, especially with the audiobook.
I enjoyed the narrater and the way the author set up the narrative.
Although I enjoyed the different POVs, it did become a little confusing.
Such an awesome thriller! There were so many twists and turns, and it kept my attention the whole time. Definitely pick this one up!
This one was good but it was pretty predictable. But regardless I enjoyed it and would recommend it to friends
I liked this book, I have never read this author so I wasn't sure what to expect. It did have a twist at the end which I enjoyed.
