She's grumpy, he's sunshine...
Reese is grumpy and likes it no strings.
Cash is a total golden retriever, happy guy, but leary of women wanting him for his, well, cash. He's into Reese and is willing to fight for her. Force proximity and only one bed sure does help his cause.
Recommend.
A continuation of the unexpected relationship started in the prior book in the series, Reese and Cash fall into the sheets but it resolved nothing…
Starting with a (literal 🤣🔥) bang, this book then descends into the thriller suspense elements of the storyline with a slower build up between the characters before culminating nicely in a hea after weaving itself together nicely over the course of the book.
Well written, I enjoyed the story and engaged with the characters fully, shipping them with each page turn
Looking forward to Rowan and Adalyn in the next book, there was quite a bit of angst and upset between these two built up nicely in this book
would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this book
its high octane with the redemption harbor security... they have been hired to find someone....one of the workers has gone missing and the police arent taking it seriously saying she has gone home....
the wealthy retreat has all the trimmings for wealthy couples to enjoy but something sinister is happening... and it takes reese and her mates to find out what it is
not a bad read that keeps you reading till the end its high octane stuff with mystery surrounding the retreat and a mountain lion stalking the mountains makes an appearance
I didn’t read fiction until about 2020 and Katie Reus/Redemption Harbor was one of the first I found, so the cover for this one quickly caught my eye. This book has some spice/open door so if you’re not into that, keep scrolling.
I really enjoyed the storyline and the mystery. Low angst, the characters were perfect for each other -he’s golden retriever and she’s grumpyish (maybe more standoffish than grumpy but I liked her). Can’t wait to read more in this series!
4.25⭐
Fighting for Reese returns readers to the Redemption Harbour Security series. For a story that is easy and engaging to read.
As Reese and Cash are sent undercover at a couples retreat in Montana to search for a missing employee.
But Reese has just ghosted Cash after hooking up with him. So she's not exactly thrilled to learn her next assignment means being in such close proximity to him. Where as Cash is thrilled to learn he's finally going to get Reese's full attention and the fact they're sharing a bed is a bonus!
Yet, the assignment is anything but simple, and the pair soon find they are battling more than just their attraction. Thanks to the Albanian Mob, cops on the take, drug smuggling and a few dead bodies to keep them on their toes.
So, it's going to take all their wits, trust and skill if they're to survive this assignment.
And they are not the only ones.
As Adalyn and Rowan are joining them in Montana and they have big issues to overcome if they are to work together as a team and make it home too.
And with a fast-paced storyline, plenty of suspense, likable characters and lots of fun back and forth. Not to mention a little heat. This was an enjoyable read. That nicely blended the intrigue and suspense with Cash and Reese's romance.
I would happily recommend Fighting for Reese to all.
Katie Reus is one of my go-to authors for romantic suspense, and Fighting for Reese was a solid addition to the new Redemption Harbor Security series. Reese and Cash (introduced in Fighting for Hailey, book one) go undercover along with two colleagues to a couples retreat in Montana to investigate a missing person case. The tension between Reese and Cash is hot, having hooked up at Hailey’s wedding at the beginning of the book, then trying to act as an engaged couple throughout the investigation while trying to keep their hands off each other. Between suspicious retreat owners, Cash’s ex popping up, and mysterious comings and goings in the woods, the plot kept me guessing. Fighting for Reese was also written with some perspective from the second “couple” Adalyn and Rowan, who clearly have a controversial past. I hope that their story will be next. While this can be read as a standalone, reading Fighting for Hailey first can be beneficial to have some background and context.
I really enjoyed this second book in the Redemption security series. Finally giving into temptation, Cash and Reese have a one stand. Imagine their surprise when they have to go undercover as husband and wife to solve a murder. At a couples retreat no less. Reese and Cash are forced together looking for clues and the backdrop was beautifully described!
In this second installment in the Redemption Harbor Security series (following Fighting for Hailey) Hailey’s best friend with an attitude Reese is sent undercover with one of Hailey’s friends from her foster care days, Cash. Cash is too good looking, too ready to smile, and has a way with money. Totally not snarky Reese’s type….except she can’t keep her eyes, her mind or ultimately her hands off him. Fresh off her one night hook-up with Cash (from which Reese snuck away the morning after), learning that she will be undercover as his wife on an assignment is distressing, to put it mildly. For his part, Cash is more than ready to admit that Reese has grabbed his attention and possibly his heart, and he is not about to let her run away from what is between them. As they work their assignment, looking for a missing employee at a romantic Montana couples’ resort, Reese battles her attraction to Cash even as they find that they are up against more than just a missing woman. Bodies start turning up, and it looks like a philandering boss, cops on the take and drug smuggling are all on the menu. Will perseverance, in love and in their investigation, keep them alive and maybe bring them together?
Author Katie Reus again brings us a feisty (if somewhat skittish and grumpy) heroine, and its hard not to be charmed by Cash, a guy who has no problems attracting feminine attention except when it comes to the one woman who sees him for who he is rather than what he looks like and what he has in the bank. Alongside this pair we also have Rowan and Adalyn, who due to a catastrophic event in their past are struggling to work as a team….and its not hard to tell that their story will be the next installment in the series. A fast paced romantic thriller, with plenty of peppery back-and-forth. Not the hardest mystery to solve, but a lot of fun along the way. Many thanks to NetGalley and Author Collective 20 for allowing me early access to a very enjoyable read for fans of this author, as well as for readers of Kat Martin, Rebecca Zanetti and Heather Graham.
Katie Reus is a go-to author who never disappoints, and Fighting for Reese is another great read. It's second in a spinoff series, but it does fine as a standalone. I'd read book 1 a while ago and quite liked it, though I remember being perhaps more interested in Cash—this book's hero—than Jesse.
Cash is adorable, the sunshine in the alluded-to grumpy-sunshine pair. Former foster child and special forces hottie slash generous billionaire, he's quite the catch, maybe a little too good to be true. He meets Reese through book 1's pair and is drawn to her (and her to him), so when they are teamed up on an op, it's only a matter of time before things get real.
Reese isn't exactly a grumpy grump, but she IS skittish. I do enjoy a story where the guy falls first anyway. She's also very competent at her job, which I love. I have to admit not remembering much about her from book 1 though.. It seemed a little odd that a cyber expert was sent on a field op, to be honest, but she is good at it
The suspense is a little odd and clunky, though it's not bad so much as... well, as it is odd. As a result, I didn't feel as fully fulfilled as I would have liked. But it's still a good read. There's plenty being set up for Rowan and Adalyn's story too. I'm looking forward to it!
I received an ARC of this book for free from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!
Fighting for Reese
Redemption Harbor Security
Book two
by Katie Reus
This book had everything from a murder mystery suspense to fighting for their lives when it's revealed what is actually happening at a wellness resort in Montana. Cash and Reese are one couple and Adalyn and Rowan all working with Redemption Security trying to find a missing girl from the resort. I didn't read the first book so it I did have a bit of confusion but all in all this book was well worth 4 stars and I highly recommend it.
Thank you to Author Collective 20 and Net Galley for allowing me to read this book.
This was another superb book by this author.
I was slightly unsure by the blurb but glad I trusted my gut, as this book was nothing like I expected and everything I didn't know I wanted/needed.
There's so much I would love to say about the plot (and the characters), as it still has my head reeling with all the pieces together, but I honestly think it's best to go in blind. You won't regret picking up this book as it was very cleverly done with twists coming out of nowhere.
I can't wait to see what the author comes up with next.
I adored how all in Cash was with Reese from the very start. I just love a man who knows what he wants. And Reese was awesome! How can you not love a woman who can kick some serious butt. These two worked well together in their investigation. And the investigation itself was intriguing and fun to read.
I really, really liked this story. It's one of my favorites. Cash and Reese saw each other at their friend's wedding and as always clashed. However, they ended up going home together for some hot times. She ran in the morning which he had been warned about. Then they were on a case together with their security company. They had to pretend they were engaged but Cash wasn't pretending. At a wellness camp, they were looking for a missing worker. She supposedly quit and went home but wasn't seen again. There was lots of intrigue and drama in this book but it was really interesting and fun to read. I highly recommend
I got this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review
Fighting for Reese by Katie Reus is a perfect book for a steamy suspense fan.
After Reese hooks up with Cash after her friend's wedding, she runs. However, Reese can't avoid Cash forever, since they will be go undecover at couples retreat as a couple.
There's a lot of suspense and drama going on this book which makes me the storyline addicting.
✅ Forced proximity
✅ Undercover agents
✅ Action packed
✅ Mystery
✅ Suspense
✅ High sexual tension
✅ Plenty of spicy scenes: intense
I'll definitely be looking forward to read the next book by Katie Reus.
Katie does it again. I fall in love with every guy I read in her stories. Cash, swoon. Could you ask for a better boyfriend? Hell no! You get all caught up in the story with its fast pace, suspenseful action, and witty banter. This story went from zero to one hundred in seconds. I am absolutely in love with romantic suspense. It has it all in this story. I love the interactions with the other members of the security team. The dynamics between Reese and Cash are off the charts. Honestly, I did not want this story to end so soon.
We get a taste for the next story and WOW it is going to be explosive. Nothing more on that front…read it and see.
Romance, Suspense, A Perfect Read!
Reese wants Cash and after spending the night with him goes on the run, she’s frightened of being rejected but what she doesn’t know is that Cash is playing for keeps and if slow and steady wins the love of his life he’s willing to do what he can to claim her forever. After all they would be working closely together on their next assignment and he was more than willing to take advantage of the situation!
A page-turning read with wonderful characters and a storyline which will keep you engrossed until the end.
I loved the chemistry, passion and sizzle between Reese and Cash and they did deserve their HEA.
Looking forward to the next in the series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
After being paired up at a wedding for their friends, Reese quickly attempted to put things back on a business footing. After all, she works with Cash. As so often happens in a romance novels, the romance gods said “Not so fast,” and the two were sent undercover to look for a missing woman.
Reus always writes an interesting suspense novel, even when there is a well-used trope like this one. Always. This story featured some non-violent resolution (which I thought was kind of cool). Five star story once again.
Fortunately the time between the first and second book of the new series: The Redemption Harbor Security series was less than two months. So I had already met Hailey, Jesse, Cash and Easton. And now, Cash meets his match!
Reese doesn’t do relationships; being burned before and left behind, she chooses to run before she will get hurt. But when she is on an undercover assignment at a couples retreat, she needs to act like she is in a relationship with Cash. Her greatest temptation, but also her greatest fear.
Underneath, there is also a push-and-pull attraction between Rowan and Adalyne, so hopefully they will get their own story too. And we see Skye again, yay!
True to Katie, suspense will be around every corner. And although you can read it as a standalone, it’s sooooo much better if you read the whole series! Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalleyfor providing the arc.
I was looking forward to Fighting for Reese after having read the first book in the Redemption Harbor series and it most definitely didn’t disappoint. After having been introduced to Reese and Cash/Constantine and their banter and give-and-take interactions in that book, I knew this one would be a lot of fire and ice and it was. I love the “found family” genre so it’s one of the many reasons I’ve enjoyed these first two books in this series. I liked that we weren’t just introduced to Jesse, Cash, Easton and Hailey, but actually read about how they grew up together in foster care and looked out for each other. I feel like I know them all and each book delves more deeply into their personalities and I become more emotionally invested in each of them that way. Fighting for Reese gave me all the “feels” and I especially liked getting to know Roman and Adalyn too. I like multiple story lines - I think it makes the book more interesting. This author moves the plot along quickly and her writing always flows easily. Katie Reus does a fantastic job of writing romantic suspense with twists and turns, drama, excitement, intrigue – it’s all in there. Although it can be read as a standalone, I would suggest reading the first book to get the full experience of these well-written characters. I’m grateful to have been given the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book through NetGalley.
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Fighting For Reese through Net Galley . Wow what a Sensational Suspense Romance . It's suspenseful and action packed and so intriguing . Not to be forgotten steamy . The characters are fantastic . I really enjoyed this story . Reese has a thing for Cash but fights the attraction. She doesn't do relationships . It all stems from issues from her past . Cash and Reese spend a night together after their friends wedding Reese sneaks out . Cash decides he's going to win her heart . They are sent undercover to a couples retreat to find a missing woman . While working so close it's perfect for Cash's plan to win Reese .
Things take a dangerous turn when they discover everything going on behind the scenes . This story is on the edge suspense . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
