This was the first surfer romance I've read and let me tell you, I need more please! If you're looking for a sweet, classic hallmark, island vibe, feel good read this is it for you 🖤 I absolutely loved the bouncing between the past and present - it gave an extra depth to the story that made this standalone feel like it was a series. I was rooting for Bodhi & Kalaine just a few pages in and couldn't flip fast enough to find out if they could overcome the past. Both of the main characters had immense growth throughout the story by overcoming injury and trauma that was a breath of fresh air to read and I personally loved that not only was it a second chance romance, but a second chance with something they were both so passionate about even after losing hope.

Maybe it's craving some sunshine after the long Alaskan winter, but after reading the beautiful beach scenes described in this book I am desperate to book a flight to Hawaii like, yesterday 🏳.

The epilogue was so perfectly pulled together and I truly could not have imagined a better ending to their story.

Really loved this book!
The scenes of the beach and the experience of surfing were vividly described, not gonna lie I wanna learn to surf now despite the fact that I can't swim.
Overall the characters had great chemistry and it was great to see Bodhi's emotional intelligence throughout the book.

Thank you for the ARC

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I adored this book and being brought back to Marbella Island. Bodhi is funny and sweet and that man bun!! 🤩 Kalaine aka Mavs is easy going, free spirited, and strong.

I loved this second chance story so much! It wasn't only a second chance for Bodhi and Mavs as a couple, but it was a second chance for each of them with the ocean and surfing. To journey their injuries with them and witness their growth was a treat. Their chemistry and bond and how they look out for one another is so special.

I was so excited about the forced proximity aspect of the book, too. It was such a fun surprise!!

Also, Kai is a wonderful big brother to Mavs and best friend to Bodhi. I look forward to reading his story and seeing him get his HEA.

Thank you, NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book was so cute! There is nothing better than a second chance romance especially with two people who are meant to be together! I loved this story and I thought the epilogue was the perfect ending for this book! If you love second chance, forced proximity, and brother’s best friend, add this to your TBR list!

Catch a Wave: A second chance, older brother's best friend, sweet romcom by Savannah Scott will hook you from the first page! A sweet second chance story between two people who never stopped loving each other. The chemistry, humor, soul-searching questions, obstacles to overcome kept me turning pages until I finished this story! I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to others in the series!

I loved Catch a Wave! I usually don't like second chance romances because we don't always get moments from the characters romance from before. This second chance romance was so good though!

Catch A Wave is a cute summer read that is a second chance romance, brother's best friend trope. This is book 3 of the Love Trippin' series, but with that being said you do not need to read the others first, as they each follow the stories of different couples.

Stars: 4/5
Spice: 0/10 (kissing)

The book follows Bhodi and Kalaine and their story of a second chance romance from forced proximity. The story takes place on Marbella a quaint little resort town after Kalaine fell during a surf competition. The chapters go back and forth between each other's POV both current and flashback. I was appreciative of the flashback's around how their relationship started, but I felt like it was missing quite a bit and left me looking for more.

Apart from the flashbacks we get to see Bhodi and Kalaine navigate both their own mental struggles from their past relationship and also their relationship with the ocean. Bhodi and Kalaine are/were both pro surfers who both suffered dangerous falls and injuries while surfing. They were forced to reconnect after Kalaine needed to rest and recover from her fall, and she agreed to do that at her brother's house. The only problem was that her brother Kai was living with her ex boyfriend unbeknownst to her until she showed up at his doorstep. They try to navigate this new living situation by awkwardly becoming friends, that very quickly started turning into rekindling their past relationship. I'm all for those types of storylines, however with the lack of story building from the flashbacks and how quickly it was going in the present I felt like I was trying to make up the story in my head as I read along.

I will say that even though I found some downsides to the storyline I still recommend this book. I think it's a perfect quick read especially for summer or when you just need something light and fun to read. My biggest drawback from the book is the misspelling of the Hawaiian island, Kauai. It was spelled Kawaii a couple of times, and while I don't normally pay attention to how things are spelled when reading, I feel like because it is an actual place and the FMC is Hawaiian it should have been caught and fixed.

Thank you NetGalley and Victory Editing for providing me the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Catch a Wave ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A sweet, closed-door romance.

After getting hurt surfing, Kalaine plans to move in with her brother while she’s recovering. When she shows up on his doorstep, his best friend answers. The problem- her brother’s best friend, Bodhi, also happens to be her ex. Now living in the same house, will they be able to heal their past wounds and start over?

I enjoyed this book. I love a good second chance romance. The characters were great and I’m glad we got to see past characters too. This is the 3rd book in the series but can be read as a stand-alone. I liked having the flashbacks and the dual point of view. This was a closed-door romance (did have some sweet kisses) with clean language, which I appreciate that!

This book comes out on March 15,2024. Be sure to add to your TBR list!! It will be a great summer read. Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op, this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

I was lucky to get an ARC of this book, the third in Savannah's Love Trippin' series. This is my first book read from Savannah’s series set on Marbella Island and it won’t be my last! I loved the small town, beach town and how the people embrace Kalaine and Bodhi.

I loved the second chance romance in this story. It’s so fun to get to know Mavs and Bodhi in two timelines. We have the present where they find themselves in forced proximity after years apart. And we have their first meeting and initial falling in love story. I loved experiencing both simultaneously. There is just so much to love about these two and their love story. I loved their love at first sight attraction. Their first date is one of my favorites ever (the monkeys!!). I loved their love of the ocean and taking risks together. I love their nicknames and the way their love never truly stops. And I love seeing them both heal after accidents and heartbreak. And I really enjoyed Kai (the big brother) and seeing how he helps them both heal and love. The first time Mavs surfs on Marbella is such a beautiful moment!! There are a million little moments that build a beautiful and compelling story.

I learned a lot about professional surfing which was a fun part of this story. I have actually never surfed in my life. And I don't feel the pull of the ocean that these two do. But I loved learning so much about the sport. The different places where big wave riders compete. The different elements that are at play to create perfect conditions and big waves. The sponsorships, the training, the coaching and the community. And how much they risk every time they ride especially the big waves. I looked up pictures from some of the spots Savannah describes and wow those are big waves! I loved how surfing brings Mavs and Bodhi together both when they are at the top of their sport and when they both experience accidents. The water helps them heal and love each other fully again. Such a beautiful backdrop to this story.

I just loved this one. The story is so beautiful and healing. I love the journeys Mavs and Bodhi both go on. I love their sweet, tender, passionate love. And I really enjoyed learning so much about professional surfing! Whether you’re new to Marbella Island or a longtime fan, this romance is for you!

This book was so amazing! It gave me all the feels and I felt so connected to the characters through their hardships and their successes. Beautifully written!! I loved the surfing world and everything that came with it.

I’ve read just about everything Savannah Scott has written and while I adore pretty much all, this one wasn’t my fave… I really liked it (a lot), but it looks like I’m not in the majority (based on the other reviews posted). I give it a good 4-4.25 star rating.

I loved going back to Marbella Island, the setting of the resort where the characters of the Road Trippin’ series work. I loved that all the previous characters made so many appearances, and we really got to know Kai (main character Kalaine’s big brother), who will be in book 4.

I enjoyed the surfing theme - there’ve been a few romances come out recently so it’s a sport that has peaked my interest and curiosity because of this. Scott’s intense research into it was clear - very well done! The chemistry and history between Kalaine and Bodhi was very intense, as well as her deep heartbreak that we learned more about as the story went along. A lot of the history was told in flashback chapters… I think my main reason for not finding this as amazing as everyone else is that I dislike flashbacks as a huge plot device (I find it really annoying when there’s more than one or two, in books, movies, tv)… just give us a prologue and get the info out at the start, and if there’s a secret to hide then give that one further flashback later.

With the continued flashbacks (to the injuries both characters suffered from and dealt with from surfing), we learn about their past friendship through their relationship and how they broke up and both left surfing behind. Kalaine goes to heal from her injury with her brother, not knowing he’s roommates with her ex, his best friend. As she heals, they work on healing their past. I kept expecting certain specific things to be revealed in the flashbacks… but my theories didn’t come true.

It is a great story with Scott’s usual great writing, but the flashback aspect and a couple other things within this one didn’t quite make it a 5 star read for me - but she’s still a great writer and I definitely still recommend it for everyone! It’s a clean romance so it’s open to a wider audience than many others.

I received an advance copy from NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op, and this is my honest feedback.

Catch A Wave is book 3 in the Love Trippin' series by Savannah Scott and it is my new favorite Savannah Scott novel!
I absolutely love Scott’s writing her Sweater Weather series is also an amazing series.
If you haven’t read her work you’re seriously missing out.
A cute, funny and fluffy romance with the most charming characters.
The characters were all well drawn and so likable.
It’s a feel good story that will have you laughing.
This literally put a smile on my face while reading.
Another delightful contemporary romance. Such a great escape.
I can't wait for the next book!

Second chance is one of my favorite tropes – and Bodhi and Kalaine’s story is one of the most beautiful ones I’ve read.

Stars: 5/5
Spice: 0/5 (Closed-Door)

Kalaine, looking for a place to stay while she recovers from her surfing accident, shows up on her brother’s doorstep – but instead, Bodhi, her ex, opens the door. Is re-meet awkward a thing? Because instead of a meet-cute, they have the most awkward of re-meets. Kalaine still doesn’t know why he broke her heart 2 years ago. Bodhi, a retired surfer, knows what she’s going through after her accident. Despite their history, he wants to be the one to be there for her. And she wants nothing to do with him. Will they be able to find their way back to each other?

I honestly don’t know how to put into words exactly how much I loved this book. This is the third Savannah Scott book I’ve read, and I love each one more and more. With the first two, she made me fall for the Frenchmen. With this one, she made me swoon for the surfer. Do I know anything about surfing? No. But with Savannah’s writing, I didn’t need to. I was completely immersed in the story from start to finish. I highly recommend this book!

I received an ARC copy of the book and all thoughts are my own.

Catch a Wave was my first experience reading Ms. Scott’s work, and it most definitely won’t be the last. I loved everything about this book and I look forward to reading more from Savannah Scott in the future.

Catch a Wave is the 3rd book in this series, but as I’ve said, I haven’t read the previous 2 books and I had no problem so I would categorize this as a standalone read. This was a beautifully written love story between two amazing characters – Kalaine and Bodhi. As the blurb implies, it is a second-chance romance between these two well-developed characters, but it’s more than a second-chance romance; it’s a story that will wreck you and rip your heart out and have you laughing in between those heartbreaking moments. I enjoyed the dual POV’s and how the story went back and forth between the current time and when they first met. It gave me insight into how much they both had matured over the years. I felt the sun on my face and the wind in my hair as I read their surfing experiences–the descriptive narrative was excellent. I’m a huge fan of “found” families and this book is all about found families and how those families are always there for each other. Catch a Wave is about forgiveness, overcoming challenges, healing and family values. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Kalaine and Bodhi’s story and I highly recommend this 5+ star book. I’m very grateful to have been given the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book through NetGalley.

Second chance romance is not really my genre but when I first heard about this book I was kinda of interested..and I'm glad I was. it didn't disappoint.

Kalaine and bodhi needed to work through alot of stuff and yet they cared deeply & supported each other all the time. Even before they got together & things were kinda of awkward they were so sweet I can't-

I loved how the author wrote the perfect amount of romance with the perfect amount of development and how they overcame their trauma without any of those things wiping out the other.

if you love sweet, closed door, 2nd chance romance, and a tiny bit of banter. Then this book is for you.

If you're a second chance lover, this book is going to rock your world. If you aren't (like me) I'd still recommend you give this book a chance, you might find yourself laughing and cheering just as I did for Bodhi and Kalaine to find their love again.
This is book 3 in a series of stand-alone, dual pov books. You do not need the previous books for this to make sense (but I do recommend them because they are equally amazing). Once again Ms Scott has carefully written a fun story that kept me interested from start to finish! Highly recommend.
I received an early version for review, this is my own review and opinions.

This book is a great story about forgiveness and second chances. I really liked the format of this book from going to current dates to back dates back and forth.

This book was really good. The love story was nice and the flashbacks were fit into the story seamlessly. My only complaint is when Bodhi’s depressive episode was introduced, it seemed like a big obstacle, but then it was just coasted over. Overall the story was good.

A great second chance romance with a surfing focus. I am not familiar with surfing but was very entertained by it. I have enjoyed Savannah Scott books and have enjoyed this series a lot.
