Cute and entertaining, but sometimes the narrative didn't make sense. I feel like the plot could have been clearer, but I did enjoy the characters.

I really enjoyed Kate's writing style and loved her MMC and MFC, but I didn't particularly love when they were in the alternate reality. The other characters were all in la la land, but it also made sense because they were stuck in this universe of only knowing the town.

The plot reminded me of '13 Going on 30' where they are transported somewhere to then realize the person they love was in front of them the whole time.

Brynn is 29, divorced, and thinks that her comfort show (where the endings are always happy) would be a better place to be. The night of her 30th birthday a mysterious stranger delivers her a cake and she makes a wish. The next day, she wakes up being the star of her favourite show. It was cancelled on a cliffhanger leaving the two main characters love story unresolved. All Brynn wants is a happy ending for them but as she lives their lives what if happily ever after isn't originally what she thought? Life isn't what it seems once you live in a tv show atmosphere and it's up to Brynn to fix the town.

I'll admit it took me a bit to get into this one, however, once you let go and enjoy it's a fun romance. Recommended!

Thank you so much NetGalley and The Dial Press for this eARC!

I really enjoy Kate Robb's writing style and her characters. The plot for this was a little insane and too unbelievable at times, but it was a very cute rom com. Did it inspire me to finally watch Dawsons Creek? Yes. I think it definitely paid homage to those cringey story lines we grew up with on our favorite teen dramas. Overall I enjoyed it and would recommend it if you are a fan of One Tree Hill, Dawsons Creek, Gilmore Girls, etc.

This was a fun love story about moving on from the fantasy of perfection to the perfect fit for you, but the evil Sheldon character kept pulling me out whenever he appeared. I understand his function, but could have fully done without him. I wish Poppy, Luce and the “dreamboat” were fleshed out more as characters. Poppy was never sympathetic in any capacity.

Wow this one hit me. Much like our fmc Brynn I am also very attached to a 2000s teen drama (mine is One Tree Hill) and this book has me feeling all the early 2000s vibes. These TV shows are so special to me and the author wrote this fictional show so well and it felt like all the nostalgic shows I love. I really loved this book. I related so hard to Brynn in so many aspects especially when she reciting storylines in the show to Josh. I think she had so much development during the story and through being in Carson’s Cove. I really liked Josh and even his development was really strong and the way he grew in Carson’s Cove. Their relationship was really sweet and I loved their dynamic. I teared up so many times during this book because of the connection to these shows and how real this one felt.
The ending speech by Brynn had me crying because it felt so relatable.
I cannot rave enough about this one and highly recommend this one. For all the 2000s tv nostalgic lovers, this one is you!!

Thank you again to Dial Press and NetGalley for the advanced copy!

📕 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Prime Time Romance by Katie Robb

📙 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: Standalone

📗 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀: E-book on Kindle. ARC provided by NetGalley

📘 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗲: Contemporary romance

📔 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: 00s nostalgia, roommates-to-lovers, love triangle, love post divorce

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Brynn makes a wish on a cake that slips her and her roommate, Josh into the fictional town of Carson’s Cove, the setting of Brynn’s favorite teenage drama.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: This book is billed as a Dawson’s Creek revival, but honestly - if you watched anything on WB in the late 90s/early 2000s… this book will slap.

Brynn and Josh are dropped into this stereotypical town that’s so cliche you can’t help but cackle. And Josh pulls off this perfect Pacey / Ryan Atwood / Lucas Scott moment and actually gets the girl. It’s swoony, and fun to read.

The only issue I had is that there wasn’t a ton of tension between Brynn and Josh before they dropped into Carson’s Cove, and the book is on the shorter side, so it wasn’t this intense and deep love.

But if you’re in the mood for a feel-good read and want to go back to your roots, it’s a good pickup.

This was such an unique rom com.

Brynn, newly divorced, on the eve of her 30th birthday and just feeling down about herself just wants to be home on her couch watching her favorite 2000's show Carson's Cove. Josh her bartender roommate sits down to watch it with her and there's a knock on the door with a man delivering a birthday cake. Once Brynn blows out the candles her and Josh are waking up in the town of Carson's Cove and in their own show. Any one who reads rom coms can guess what will happen with these two.

Just an enjoyable read all around.

Did you ever want to fall into the perfect world of your favorite TV show and live there forever? That’s the premise of Kate Robb’s sophomore novel PRIME TIME ROMANCE. Robb writes what I’ve realized might be my favorite subgenre of romance: contemporary magical realism. Her characters are people living in our very normal, ordinary world who find themselves suddenly confronted with strange happenings that lead them to the right path in their lives. In PRIME TIME ROMANCE, a 30th birthday wish transports Brynn into the world of her favorite show so she can create the perfect ending for the prematurely cancelled series and maybe for herself.

Brynn craves a perfect ending for her comfort show because she’s had exactly the opposite in her life, with her marriage ending suddenly and her having to rent out her spare room to pay her mortgage. Her roommate, Josh, gets pulled through to the fictional Carson’s Cove with her, and he’s got his own baggage to overcome. Robb writes her characters with empathy and heart, drawing you in so you genuinely want the best for them. This is one that I can already tell is going to be a comfort read I come back to again and again.

If you were terminally addicted to the WB in your high school years, you’ll love the references and easter eggs to Dawson’s Creek, One Tree Hill, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and their predecessors like 90210 and Saved By The Bell.

Have you ever dreamed of living life in your favorite TV show? If so, this book is for you! This book is full of a good slow burn romance, some whimsy, and comedy. Brynn is obsessed with the show, Carson Cove, and she gets the opportunity, along with her bartender roommate, Josh, to travel through the time space continuum to try out life in Carson Cove. And not only that but as two of the main characters, Sloan and Fletch. Sloan/Brynn tries to fall in love the Spencer, another character from the show she has adored through all the seasons. Giving Sloan her picture perfect ending with Spencer might be the ticket to make it back to reality. Or will she find true love under her nose all along with Josh? Is love on an idyllic TV show all that it's cracked up to be? How many times have you gotten sucked into a show or the perfectly curated feeds on social media and compared it to your life wondering why your life couldn't be as great as theirs? Is their life as good as it appears to be? Are the people who they portray themselves to be? If you've ever had these questions, then this book is for you. It's a quick and easy read that will leave you with a warm and fuzzies. It's cute with a bit of spice until the very end.

I am a sucker for Magical Realism and I love how Kate Robb writes it.

Brynn and her roommate Josh find themselves as characters in her favorite teen drama - all because she made a wish to have a happily ever after. However, the only way that she can go home is if she gives Sloan (her character) and Spencer the happy ever after they never got on the show before it was canceled suddenly. But let’s be honest, life is never that cut & dry because Josh (who is Fletch on the show) is the one that she develops feelings for.

I loved the late 90s and early 2000s nostalgia and I loved the character and relationship development. I loved that Brynn realized that people are not always what they seem like on the outside and she had to find her own way.

While I was never a fan of Dawson’s Creek, this book makes me want to actually watch it.

Kate Robb's Prime Time Romance is a delightful blend of nostalgia and magical realism that will appeal to fans of both romance and television dramas. The story follows Brynn, a woman who finds herself transported into the world of her favorite teen soap opera, Carson's Cove.

Robb's writing is witty and engaging, capturing the essence of a classic television show. The characters are well-developed and relatable, and the plot is full of twists and turns that keep the reader guessing. Entering a fictional world is intriguing and heartwarming, allowing for a fresh take on the romantic comedy genre.

While the pacing may be slow in places, the overall experience is enjoyable. The book's nostalgic elements will resonate with anyone who has ever been captivated by a beloved television show. Prime Time Romance is a charming and entertaining read that will leave a smile on your face.

This is a cute rom-com that I did enjoy but I struggled reading. I took so long to finish the book but once I did I was glad.

In this story, Brynn (recently divorced) and Josh (the roommate) magically enters a sitcom world through a wish that Brynn made.

I felt like Brynn and Josh lacked something, maybe more iteration. Or maybe Josh needed to be involved more. Anyway, I do recommend reading this book. I liked it, it is sweet

Prime Time Romance was such a cool concept for a book. I really liked being transported to Carson's Cove.

I loved the 2000s vibes in the book with all the teen show references. Luce has goats named Betty and Veronica. How cute is that!

I really enjoyed Josh and the growth that Brynn went through. I would totally recommend this book!

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for the e-ARC. This review is my own opinion.

I had such high hopes for this one. It started off so cute and I was really enjoying the chemistry between the FMC and MMC. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of love triangles. It really cheapened the experience for me.

Overall, I would still recommend it as I enjoyed Kate's writing style.

One of my favorite romance reads in a long time!!! I loved the unique premise, the loveable characters and the countless teen drama references! If you’re a millennial, you’ll definitely catch them as you read!

I have found myself thinking about this book even weeks after finishing. The entire concept is unlike anything I’ve ever read and now every time I watch TV I can’t help but think what it would be like to live in the show! While some of the plot was predictable, I thoroughly enjoyed reading along. As a Dawson’s Creek and WB fan back in the day, I really appreciated the connection with this book and it had me feeling nostalgic!

Thank you Random House Publishing Group and NetGalley for this ARC!

A little magic goes a long way in Kate Robb’s newest book PRIME TIME ROMANCE. Both books I’ve read by her are super sweet with the perfect amount of magical realism. Thank you @berkleyromance for the review copy!

This magic brings all our teenage fantasies to life…Brynn wakes up as the main character in her favorite teen drama Carson’s Cove and she has to give the character of Sloan the happy ending she deserves that she never got in the cancelled series.

The alludes to high school shows of our youth was so fun as was the insightful commentary about the shows we grew up watching. This book was fun, mostly light, and made me feel like I was living a teenage dream. If you liked THIS SPELLS LOVE I think this will be a win as well!

I thought this was really fun and it felt like something unique & different. I enjoyed the talk of fan culture and escaping into a TV show, but I found the romance to be a little lackluster and underdeveloped.

Prime Time Romance
by Kate Robb
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you were obsessed with Dawson's Creek, Buffy, or any of those 90s/00s teen dramas, you have to check out Prime Time Romance. It’s like stepping into one of those shows! The story follows Brynn, who wakes up inside her favorite TV show after making a birthday wish. She and her roommate, Josh, have to give the characters the happy ending they never got, but of course, things get messy when Brynn starts falling for Josh instead!

The nostalgia in this book is unreal. I kept finding little Easter eggs from old shows, and it totally gave me all the feels. The romance is slow-burn, and Josh gave me major Pacey vibes—so sweet and lovable! If you're into magical realism, forced proximity, and some throwback vibes, you’ll really enjoy this one. It’s such a fun escape, and you’ll probably want to binge-watch old shows after!
