Cute and fluffy, just not for me. I was bothered by inconsistencies in the “rules” in their alternate reality (i.e. inability to curse), the rushed declarations of love, and a too-easy escape hatch. The spicy scenes are incongruous with how YA the tone of the book is otherwise. This might have worked better if geared towards a younger audience.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book for free in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.

I saw someone post about this book on Instagram a few weeks ago, comparing it to the 90s classic "Pleasantville" starring Reese Witherspoon and Tobey Macguire and I have to agree with those sentiments.

I thought this book was very cute and also very clever. I haven't read many romantic comedy books similar to this one. While it wasn't my number one favorite romance book of 2024, I still very much enjoyed it and finished it in under a day. I would consider reading more by Kate Robb in the future.

Read if you like Pleasantville or Back to the Future.

Many Thanks again to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book in exchange for my honest review.

Who doesn't want to end up in the fictional town of their favorite show? Only, it's real and the decisions they make there have consequences. What happens when it isn't all it's cracked up to be? Brynn and her roommate, Josh, spend a night watching reruns of her favorite show, "Carson's Cove," after real-life and a divorce have broken her heart. She and Josh then wake up in the very town as well-known characters, in order to give it the ending it deserves. The last season didn't get the closure it should have and it's up to them to tie it neatly together. So, will Brynn stick to the script or follow her heart and what will make HER happy, not just the character she's playing?

This was such a fun concept that I haven't seen done before. I was sucked into, not only the fictional world of Carson's Cove (Dawson's Creek, anyone?), but became invested in the relationship that unfolds between Brynn and Josh. There's the perfect mix of nostalgia and fantasy with a dose of reality.

TV fan or not, you'll want this one on your shelf when it's released on September 3, 2024. Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House for the advanced copy.

I really tried to finish the book, but I just couldn’t. I read more than i half but, unfortunately, i had no interest in finishing it. the idea and story was perfect, i loved it so much, however the plot was not for me. i will try to pick up the book again, later this year, because i really want to give it another chance!

Such a cute storyline and concept. Getting sucked into your favorite teenage tv sitcom? What could be better!

I watch a lot of Chandler Ansley on YouTube and she comes across a lot of romances where the first half of the book is interesting and interesting enough to keep me going but the second half just drags on. I definitely would recommend tandem reading this book with something else to keep you from getting into a slump.

A very sweet quick read. I grew up watching shows like Dawson's Creek so I thought this was a great idea and enjoyed it.

"Prime Time Romance" by Kate Robb is a delightful and whimsical romantic comedy that will charm readers with its clever premise and endearing characters. Robb's storytelling shines as she takes readers on a nostalgic journey through the world of a beloved 2000s teen soap opera, Carson's Cove, while adding her own twist of romance and humor.

At the heart of the story is Brynn, a newly divorced woman who finds herself transported into the world of Carson's Cove, where she must navigate the complexities of love and relationships alongside her roommate, Josh. As they take on the roles of Sloan and Fletch from the soap opera, Brynn and Josh discover unexpected feelings for each other that challenge the boundaries between fiction and reality.

What sets "Prime Time Romance" apart is its inventive premise and lighthearted humor. Robb expertly blends elements of romance, comedy, and drama to create a captivating story that keeps readers engaged from start to finish.

With its charming characters and heartfelt themes of love and self-discovery, "Prime Time Romance" is a delightful escape into the world of television romance. Robb's witty dialogue and clever plot twists make this a must-read for fans of romantic comedies.

What a cute and heart warming romance book. As I was reading, the town described almost reminded me of One Tree Hill vibes…all that was missing was a car garage.

If you are in the mood for a warm, easy to read romance book, this is it.

I really enjoyed this book!!! Kate Robb definitely put a lot of thought into writing Prime Time Romance. It felt like a mix of Dawson’s Creek, One Tree Hill, and Gilmore Girls all rolled into one, mixed with magic and love! I know that growing up, I had always wished that I could be immersed in the world of my favorite TV shows, so this was a cute little taste of what that would be like. I appreciated the adorable town descriptions, the easily-picturable characters, and the “ah-yes, relatable” episode moments, but also appreciated that the author added in her own flare using the main character storylines and side characters. I would totally recommend this book to anyone who enjoys small town romance books/television/movies!

Thank you to Kate Robb, NetGalley, & Penguin Random House for allowing me to read an e-ARC in exchange for my honest review!

This was a cute little story. I loved the beginning and it started out strong but then I felt kinda of bored in the middle. It picked up a bit at the end because I wanted to see how everything played out.

I did like the two main characters and their love story but it felt kind of rushed and the spicy scene felt rushed as well lol.

Read if you like-
✿ dual POV
✿ 2000s drama romance shows
✿ a lil spice
✿ small town vibes
✿ magic realism

Thanks netgalley for the arc! This book release Sept 3, 2024

I absolutely loved This Spells Love last year and now Kate Robb is back and better than ever with a book that will make you feel all kind of nostalgia.

After a magical birthday wish is made, Brynn and her roommate Josh end up in her fav cancelled tv show Carson’s Cove. The show may not have received its happy ending but Brynn and Josh have to make sure it does before they can return home.

This book is so darn funny! I loved that the characters couldn’t curse and the banter was perfection. The magical realism requires a stretch of the imagination but everything ended up being explained really well. This one will be great for 90s teens or anyone who has a fav show!
Highly recommend

4.25 stars

This was a really cute, interesting book. I loved all the Dawsons creek/CW teen drama vibes. The idea of waking up in one of my favorite tv shows as the main character is so funny and I really enjoyed how everything was just a little too perfect. Seeing all the tv moments play out in “real life” (for the book characters at least) was really fun.
I felt like I didn’t get a super deep sense of who the main characters were as people because there was so much focus on the characters they were pretending to be but I did enjoy them and thought they had a really good connection. I loved the tension between them and all their sweet little moments.
I thought this was a fun concept for a book and I really enjoyed reading it!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Dial Press for the ARC!!

This was a very interesting read

Brynn-MFC
Josh- MMC

Brynn is newly divorced and lives with a roommate (Josh)

Its nostalgia is what helped me get through the plot switch. (Ending up in her favorite TV show)
They were trapped in the tv show and had to find a way out

She fell for her roommate, they ended up falling in love.

It was overall a well written book with a do good feel good meaning

This book can be described as cute and swoon worthy. It was a nice pallet cleanser from my normal high spice and high drama titles. It follows Josh and Brynn through a magical night of being trapped in Brynn's favorite show, Carson's Cove. It was cute to see all the references to shows like the vampire diaries, Riverdale, One tree hill, Dawson's creek and Buffy. I can't say I'd pick this book up again BUT it was definitely incredibly cute for a one time read.

I loved this, I thought it was the perfect balance of fantastical and cheesy and romantic. Such a treat of a book, even better than Kate Robb’s last book. Such a fluffy escape with a wonderful will-they-won’t-they story. Highly recommend it!

Thank you so much to Madison at Dial Press Marketing, Kate Robb, Random House Publishing Group, and NetGalley for the advanced copy! Prime Time Romance is available September 3rd, 2024!

Thank you NetGalley, Random House Publishing, and Kate Robb for the early access copy of Prime Time Romance.

Kate Robb, you hooked me as a reader. Prime Time Romance follows Brynn and Josh. Brynn is newly divorced, about to turn thirty, and wishing for a life as predictable and pleasant as the one in her favorite TV show's Carson's Cove. Josh is Brynn's new roommate who worked with her brother as a bartender. Josh is dealing with his own grief and keeps to himself with Brynn until the night of her birthday when a surprise cake arrives and turns both of their world's upside down. When Brynn and Josh wake up as characters in Carson Cove and a storyline they are meant to follow, all they hope for is to find a way back home. But, when real feelings start to develop, they must figure out how to stay on script. With sly references (that are amazingly listed at the end of the book) and an intriguing group of secondary characters, this story pulls the reader in.

Pleasantville meets Dawsons creek with a hint of the Good Place. I "fudging" loved this story.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to review this ARC.

I started reading this book when I was feeling extremely low, and I was looking for something lighthearted and uncomplicated. Thank goodness I had this book available. As a fan of the 90s teen dramas, I felt right at home. I'm okay with a bit of magic, and this story was easy to fall into, but I felt the character of Sheldon was a bit of a stretch for me. I think the story would have flowed a bit easier without him and with a little mystery around how things happened. How he made things happen wasn't explained, and I would have liked it if he wasn't even there.

Overall, I enjoyed the story and the easter eggs throughout. I needed a story to take me away from reality for a little bit, and Katie Robb's book did just that.

This was cute! I have seen TV shoes or movies that follow this trope but was unsure how it would work in a book. It absolutely delivered! I’ve felt stuck in the predictable romance cycle but this was a breath of fresh air. Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC!

This was such a fun read! Literally magical! I thought that this book was so relatable especially Brynn. I loved that she imagined this perfect scenario in her head to then start realizing everything she thought she wanted was happening with Josh unexpectedly. So cute and fun especially the nods to some of my favorite shows growing up!
