Kate Robb has officially become an auto-buy author for me! Her latest, PRIME TIME ROMANCE, is another fun, witty romance with a magical twist, echoing the best parts of THIS SPELLS LOVE—this time with a clever, nostalgic TV spin. Brynn and Josh are a couple that’s easy to root for right from the start, and both characters have full, satisfying arcs that land in a well-earned, swoon-worthy happily ever after. Bonus points for a playful setting, a complete cast of side characters, and plenty of great one-liners.

This book was an utter delight of nostalgia and magic. It took me back in time to when I was 14 and obsessed with anything on the WB (i.e. Dawson's Creek, Buffy, One tree Hill) I love a little whimsical magic in romance books and this did not disappoint!
Our story starts with recently divorced Brynn. It's her 30th birthday and she is feeling like she lost her spark in life and hasn't been able to find her footing. She does not have the best night out with her “so called” friends she decides to call it and go home with her bartender roommate Josh. They end up watching old episodes of her favorite TV show Carson's Cove (A.K.A. Dawson Creek 2.0)
A knock on the door reveals a UberEATS delivery person who drops off a birthday cake and he tells her to make a wish. When she wakes up she and Josh are transported into the world of Carson's Cove and her UberEATS genie, Sheldon, explains that they are there to finish the story between the main characters, Sloan and Spencer, since the show got canceled before the two got together.
Brynn is excited to jump into the role of main character Sloan. She wants to see the characters finally get out of the friend zone and be together once and for all but as she spends more time with Josh's character Fletcher, the resistant screw up, she realizes that maybe the show did get it right and Sloan was never meant to be with Spencer after all. Carson’s Cove isn't everything she expected it to be and she doesn't want to follow the script that's been laid out from UberEATS genie Sheldon, but if Brynn and Josh don’t make things right will they ever get back home? “Spencer is perfect but I don’t know if I want perfect anymore”
This book reminded me of the movie Pleasantville where they enter a TV show alternate reality and become the characters. The writing was smart and you understood the struggles Brynn was going through as she grappled with the idea of changing things up and what that meant for everyone else. Typically, things always worked out how they are supposed to in the show but only for a select few characters and everyone else suffered the consequences. I enjoyed not only the main characters but also some side ones such as her BFF Poppy and resident mean girl Luce.
Tip! Keep reading after you are finished. Kate Robb throws in some Easter Eggs reveals at the end and they were splendid!
Huge thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for sharing this book’s digital review copy with me.

Prime time romance by Kate Robb Arc review I was about was to get an advance reader copy of this novel through net galley. This was a brilliant and funny Rom com About a girl looking to escape her the issue in her life and somehow wides up in her favorite tv show with her roommate. Which is just so amazing because let’s honest who haven’t wished to be able to be into there favorite fictional world I know I have ha ha. So we meet Brynn is a divorcée on her 29 birthday feel down on her life , so after a bad night she at home with her roommate binge watching her favorite show Carson cove which held a lot of similarities to your favorite 90s teen drama. So she makes a wish on a candle and her and roommate Josh are now tv characters Carson cove. The twist they have to make Brynn as the main character Sloan fine her happing ending with the dream guy Spencer. But the more Time they spend in this world they wonder is really as perfect as it seems. Josh and Brynn feeling begin to grown and evolve. Will they be able to stick to the script or will real love find a way to win. I had so much fun reading this book it was delightful and heartwarming, I loved all the references to the teen drama we all loved. It was wonderful and hard to put down. I had a blast reading this go check it out you won’t be disappointed you did it . It was an absolute great read. It come out sept 3,2024

Kate Robb has such a talent for weaving magic into her stories and making it feel like something that could realistically happen. Prime Time Romance is a great read for those of us who grew up watching early 00s teenage drama television on The WB. I really liked how Josh and Brynn’s real life personal narrative was wound within the narratives of Sloan and Fletch. I could have read two stand alone stories of each of these couples coming together separately! But I think Kate Robb did a great job of balancing their real lives with the lives of their “alter egos” in Crescent Cove. There’s a quote a lot going on with all of the characters in this story and Robb is able to deftly wrap up each storyline, leaving you satisfied and giddy at the end!

This cover was so darn adorable and the story sounded so cute, but it just did not live up to it for me. I wanted more romance, more chemistry, more love. The beginning was really good and had me hooked but the rest was really underwhelming and left me unsatisfied.

A beautiful romance! I loved the characters. I laughed out loud, and rooted for the romance. A must for all rom com lovers!

Have you ever wanted to just hop into your favorite show and give it the ending it really deserves? Or wanted to give it an ending overall since it got cancelled?
Welp, in this novel, they do that.
I know I have wanted to do this from time to time (Gilmore Girls, obviously, who leaves it like that? Come on Netflix).
Prepare to be engrossed in this novel and root for the people you never thought you would. Such a fun, cute novel, and perfect for a beach read, or book club.
Thank you NetGalley for my E-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

First, a big thank you to Random House Publishing Group and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I absolutely adore 2000s sitcoms and cheesy romcoms! When I read the synopsis for Prime Time Romance I knew immediately that I wanted to read this book. Unfortunately, I had a really hard time connecting to the characters. Everything feels really flat, the plot is moving too slowly, and there is zero chemistry between our romantic leads. It should feel whimsical, funny, romantic, and over the top! I’m sorry to say I just found myself getting really bored. I really wanted to love this one! Giving it a neutral 3 stars because there’s nothing bad about it, it’s just not for me.

What a darling book! I came into with not strong expectations since I’m a little younger than I imagine the projected age group to be for target audience.
However, I fell in love with this book. I adored Brynn and Josh. They were complex characters whose perspectives added to the plot every chapter switch.
And let me talk about that spice. Wowza. 3.5 out of 5 chili peppers for that spice. I wasn’t expecting it but it was so tastefully done.
The setting is so sweet and so comforting. I devoured this book as quickly as my real life would let me. And all of the Easter eggs!!
Release date: September 3rd, 2024
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for this ARC in expanse for a copy!

As a huge Dawson's Creek fan, I cannot tell you how much this book delighted me. All of the little references were so wonderful, and Kate Robb's note at the end acknowledging all of them made me so happy. This book was like a warm hug for me.

I was selected to read this as an Advanced reader for my review via NetGalley. This is the first book of Kate Robb that I have read. Interesting premise. Spoilers ahead. I like and enjoy light and fun romcoms, but this was a little too light even for me. Brynn is divorced, mourning her marriage and has a very superficial relationship with her roommate, Josh. She is obsessed with a teenage soap opera that ended (I believe) quite a while ago. Through a strange circumstance, she and her roommate are transported to this same soap opera location with all of the beloved town folk to see the drama through to a happy ending. The catalyst for this leap is a (deranged) Uber driver. I really wanted to like this more than I did.
The so called perfect life in Carson’s Cove, is not what it seems, but what could have been nuanced and interesting, just comes across as vapid. All of a sudden, Brynn’s roommate, Josh, becomes the love of her life (in less than a week.). I liked, but never feel in love with any of the characters.

When Brynn and Josh wake up in an unfamiliar, but familiar, place it takes a minute before they realize they are in Carson's Cove - the town of Brynn's favorite tv show. The way to get home - give the characters the ending they deserve.
Prime Time Romance is a cute and and fast paced rom com! I loved the whimsical and magical component of being set in a tv show, trying to find their place in the world. I loved the cute romance scattered throughout the book and how Brynn truly gets the ending she deserves and to be happy. I also loved seeing the growth and friendships that were strengthened along the way, especially with Luce and Brynn.
Read this if you love small town romance, roommates to lovers, insta love, dual POV, and magical realism. It's set to release on September 9th, 2024 and is perfect for a quick rom com!
Thank you to NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group, and Kate Robb for the chance to read and review an early copy. All opinions are my own.

I absolutely adored this book. I love teen type TV shows anyway, and the beginning of this story was very much giving Riverdale but without the weirdness. I loved it all.

his book was not for me. It follows Brynn, a divorcee obsessed with teen TV show Carson’s Cove and her roommate Josh. On the eve of her 30th birthday Brynn wishes for a happily ever after and she and Josh end up in Carson’s Cove. What I did not like about this book was that in order to understand the plot, you had to understand the fictional TV show of Carson’s Cove. I just did not care about Carson’s Cove at all which took me out of the book.
The relationship between Josh and Brynn was also super insta-love, which I do not enjoy in romance books. They went from roommates who literally never talked to in love in a week.

Special thanks to NetGalley, Kate Robb, and Random House Publishing Group | Dial Press for the ARC of “Prime Time Romance.” This is the second book of Kate Robb’s I have read, her first being This Spells Love, which I adored.
Things I liked in this book:
* the references back to late 90s early 2000s WB and CW shows like Buffy, Dawson’s Creek, among others. I really enjoyed these and laughed every time I noticed one!
* magical realism
* the description of Carson’s Cove
*The backstories of josh and Brynn
Things I felt could be improved on
*it took a long time for any romance between Josh and Brynn showed up and that felt like a missed opportunity
*How long it took Brynn to realize Poppy wasn’t a good friend
*The ending felt rushed
All in all this was an entertaining read, and I recommend it. The nostalgia is well done and so is the romance between Josh and Brynn. I am so glad was able to finally view the relationships in Carson’s Cove the way they were and not what she imagined them to be.

Kate Robb might be one of my new favorite others! I love the magical twists of her romances and as a millennial, the references to the teen dramas of my era were just icing on the cake! Even so, I don’t think the fun references were so essential to understanding and enjoying, this would be enjoyable for any age!

Thank you Kate Robb and NetGalley for the ARC!
3.5/5 stars
1.5-2/5 spice
I wanted to love this book, like I wanted to LOVE LOVE it. But I didn't. I did like it, don't get me wrong. I enjoyed the sh*t out of it. But when I finished it parts of the book fell flat for me. It was adorable, cute, gave off early 2000's vibes, which I appreciated.
This book follows Brynn, recent divorced and her roommate Josh. Her life is a mess, financial struggles, IMO shitty friends who forgot her birthday she turns to her favorite teen drama. Carson's Cove, like any early 2000's TV show, it is perfection. TV land is where she wants to be. But sadly the show was cancelled, ending on a huge cliff hanger. (If you were around for early 2000's TV you know how much that SUCKS)
On her 30th birthday she makes a wish, wishing for "the perfect happily ever after", the next morning she wakes up in Carson's Cove. But Josh is with her. As they navigate the fictional world of Carson's Cove, both of them the lead characters in the show, they navigate through Carson's Cove in hopes of finding a HEA for Sloan and Spencer (main characters of Carson's cove)
Reading through the book, the concept was amazing. But the romance fell short for me. It had potential, the two MC didn't have the spark I was expecting. But it was ok, as a reader you're not going to LOVE LOVE every book you read. And I personally will never Yuck someone else's yum.
I plan to reread when it's released. Kate Robb did an amazing job, this book was great, it just wasn't MY favorite. If you're looking for a different style of romance book check it out!

Thank you, NetGalley for the Arc. I was very excited to read the book, I enjoyed how relatable is this to real life. The characters are super cute and is a ron-com, fluffy, and I finished in one sitting.

Kate Robb knows how to weave a good tale of romance!
In her second novel "Prime Time Romance" her main characters get plopped into an alternate reality, that of her favorite tv drama. While I have to say I hate this style of storytelling (suspending reality), if I looked past that pet peeve, I really enjoyed the lead characters. Another bonus in the story, easter eggs from various tv dramas growing up.
It's a quick read that will leave you satisfied in the end.

this was okay!! it was cute but at times fell flat for me. i needed more of the romance like more sparks, more tension, and chemistry. it’s a good read for something quick and lighthearted!
