Thank you NetGalley for this free arc - While I loved This Spells Love, Prime Time Romance fell a little short for me. I had a hard time connecting the 30 year old characters into teenage Carson’s Cove drama.

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I knew I wanted to read Prime Time Romance because I enjoyed Kate Robb’s other book “This Spells Love”. I didn’t read the description prior to jumping into the book so I was feeling all the nostalgic vibes of my teen years of watching tv dramas like Dawson’s Creek, One Tree Hill, and Vampire Diaries! It took me a few chapters to get hooked into the storyline, but overall I throughly enjoyed the book and loved the main characters Brynn and Josh. If you enjoyed 90’s and early 2000’s teen tv dramas, you’ll enjoy this book. I’d recommend giving it a read.

I don't know that I'm always a magic romance novel person, but this was very cute. The TV show is pretty close to Dawson's Creek (with elements from 90210 and Gilmore Girls, it feels like to me), and it's enjoyable to read if you're a person who liked a WB soap back in the day. I wish we had had a little more background on Brynn - what was she actually doing as a job beforehand? Did she like it? Why did she and Matt break up? But the evolution of the characters was fun and the juxtaposition of our main characters and their TV alter egos was amusing.

I received a free copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Random House; all opinions expressed are exclusively my own.

I really enjoyed This Spells Love, also by this author, and so I immediately jumped on this title to read and review. I was not disappointed! Kate Robb spins us a story about nostalgia and how it combines with grief and fear to hold us back, but can also propel us forward. This was a very feel good story for the most parts, though fair warning: the magical element of this story is definitely less comfortable than in This Spells Love, and leads to the content warnings below.

For sensitive readers, this story contains graphic sexuality, bullying, loss of autonomy, and grief.

Cute but I felt it fell a little flat.

Thanks to NetGalley for the review copy. I never watched Dawson’s Creek but this homage was interesting. The book also takes pieces of other teen dramas.

When I first read the description of this book I knew I wanted to read it, I was a huge fan of Dawson’s Creek growing up and this book had everything I was looking for to bring back that nostalgia.
My only wish is that it was longer so I could read about Brynn and Josh.

I I recently read Prime Time Romance, and I have to say, I was blown away by the relatable female main character and the swoon-worthy male lead. The story was captivating from start to finish, and I found myself rooting for the couple throughout their ups and downs. The chemistry between them was palpable and had me wishing for a love like theirs. The way the author portrayed the female lead's struggles and vulnerabilities made her feel like a real person, especially when she was making questionable relationship decisions, and the male lead was the perfect mix of charming and supportive, making him the ultimate boyfriend goal. I highly recommend it and can't wait to get my hands on the physical copy!

4 stars; This was the perfect 90s rom-com read!

After a birthday wish, Brynn (and her roommate Josh) find themselves in the city of Carson's Cove, the setting for her favorite romance, comfort show. Their goal, give Sloan her happily ever after. Brynn and Josh navigate their new roles as fictional characters but soon realize that Carson's Cove isn't as perfect as it was seen on TV.

I loved the nostalgia of this book! I feel like I could really envision the setting of Carson's Cove, I kept imagining a little bit of Dawson's Creek, Gilmore Girls, One Tree Hill; all the classic 90's and 2000's teenage TV shows.

Brynn and Josh both had great character development through the whole book. I loved how they processed through their real life problems in Carson's Cove and took steps to changing their life back in the real world. Even the Carson's Cove characters changed and grew throughout the book which was a fun addition to the story line; I wish we could have seen where they ended up at the end of the show!

This book is for you if you enjoy small town setting, friends to lovers, magical realism, and dual POV! Thank you Netgalley and Random House Publishing for the ARC!

The nostalgia i got from reading this book from all the teen dramas i used to watch! (Dawsons creek, one tree hill etc)

I thought it was a fun quick read. I would def recommend this book!

3.5 stars! This was super cheesy and silly but I had a great time. I thought the premise sounded so fun, and in true teen-television-drama fashion, got very cringey and unbelievable at times, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying myself! Brynn and Josh were super cute together, and I loved Brynn’s friendship with Luce. I maybe could’ve done without the whole Sheldon character but other than that, a very cute read!

•Plot: 5/5 (Think Pleasantville- a young woman gets sent back to the set of her favorite teenage TV show.)

•Characters: 3/5

•Writing: 2/5 (I liked the overall arc, but the spicy scenes did nothing for me- they felt very awkward and clinical.

•Ending: 3/5

Special thanks to the author and Random House for the ARC. Solid romance- especially for “Dawson’s Creek” or “One Tree Hill” fans.

3.5 stars!

Brynn is really struggling; recently divorced, lost her friends, needs a roommate to help pay her mortgage. The only upside is her comfort show, Carson's Cove, and even that is upsetting when she thinks about how abruptly it ends. So on the eve of her 30th birthday when a mysterious cake shows up at her door, Brynn makes the only logical choice of wishing for a happily ever after.
However, the next morning Brynn and roommate Josh find themselves in none other than Carson's Cove. And everyone is calling her Sloan, the lovable girl next door who never got the ending Brynn believed she deserved. After recruiting Josh, who is now resident Carson's Cove bad boy Fletch, to make sure Sloan gets her happily ever after, Brynn realizes that might be difficult.. Especially after developing feelings for Josh.

This was so cute!! I loved This Spells Love, and Robb has shown me yet again what an amazing author she is. There is spice, probably a 2/5, and it was a fantastic quick read! Brynn is super lovable and relatable, and Josh is hot and respectful. They're absolutely a couple that would be together forever.

First things first, I want to say thank you to NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group, and Kate Robb for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

If you like
* small town
*roommates
*90s/00s nostalgia
*whimsy
*dual POV
*rom-con tv/movies
then this book is FOR YOU

I am honestly in love with this book. I finished this book a couple of days ago but just now have time to do a review on it, but I can't stop thinking about it. The whole concept of being transported into your all-time favorite tv show is such a unique idea for a book. It gave me a nostalgic feeling of watching Gilmore girls, friends, etc. I just loved it. I don't think I've read a book that had that concept before. It was different from all the books I've read.

Brynn and Josh's chemistry was wonderful. I felt like they already had some kind of connection somehow, but when they got pulled into this situation it made their connection strong.

I did get superrrr freaked out by Sheldon. I honestly got goosebumps on some of the parts he was in.

What truly fell short for me was the ending. I felt like there was something missing. It seemed like I was waiting for something huge to happen but nothing ever did.

Overly I thought it was such a fun read that I won't forget! Now I have to read Kate's other book.

Thank you Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group for the ARC. I think Kate Robb is a new auto-buy author for me. I really liked This Spells Love, but I think Prime Time Romance is even BETTER. First, I absolutely love the cover to this novel. This book is a dual-POV between Brynn and Josh. I absolutely love dual-POVs. Brynn is a new divorcee who doesn't really have any friends and has a roommate named Josh. On Brynn's birthday, she goes out with some girls who she thought were celebrating her birthday, but were in fact celebrating an engagement instead. Brynn decides to call it a night and Josh joins her since he was bartending at the bar she was at. Once home, she turns on her favorite Netflix comfort show. Around midnight, the doorbell rings and it's a cake for Brynn's birthday. Brynn makes a wish that she hopes to get her happily ever after. However, when she wakes up, she's magically transported into Carson's Cove which is the set of her favorite Netflix show that was canceled and never got their happily ever after. Brynn is thrown into trials of friendship, love, trying to please everyone while trying to find and love herself. Overall, I just loved this book and I definitely recommend.

Is love on the small screen better than the real thing? A new divorcee finds herself in the ideal world of her favorite 2000s teen soap in this second-chance, whimsical, steamy romantic comedy from the author of This Spells Love. Publishes on September 3, 2024.

This book was pure nostalgia! If you were a fan of teen dramas such as Dawson’s Creek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, One Tree Hill, 90210, Gilmore Girls and more, you will definitely pick up on the Easter Eggs present in this story. The plot and nod to 90s/early 2000s shows definitely made this a fun read. I also loved the theme about how striving for perfection and how life “should be” doesn’t always equal happiness.

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝑫𝒊𝒅𝒏’𝒕 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆
Unfortunately, I didn’t connect with these characters. Their chemistry was lacking and just wasn’t believable. I wanted to love their love story as much as other aspects of this book, but I just didn’t. It was a great plot idea, but it wasn’t always executed well. The ending felt rushed.

Overall, it was a cute and lighthearted read. Although I didn’t love this book as much as This Spells Love, I do feel like many people will love it!!

Picture this 📸 you magically appear in the small town of your favorite TV series from childhood….except for everyone is older now and you’re responsible for giving the main character her happy ending or you’ll never go back to your real life. No pressure, right? Oh and your roommate, who’s also your brother’s friend, accidentally appears there with you 🫡.

The plot of this is a classic hallmark movie trope and it gave what you would expect! There was a decent amount of humor and it definitely got some chuckles from me. I loved Josh and his story, but I wish we would’ve gotten more on Brynn’s past. Some of the supporting characters were insufferable and overall I think a lot of the plot lines were predictable. I was also confused at how everyone was just stuck in the TV show and …like aren’t these actors that leave set and go home to their regular lives? Beats me!

Overall, this was just an okay read for me. If you love hallmark or have a fave comfort tv show that you wish you were in, you’ll have a blast reading this!

I was excited to read this book because I enjoyed her debut, and it more than exceeded my expectations.

The connections to teenage dramas was so special and I loved getting to find the little Easter eggs in the story.

I devoured this book so fast, and wish I hadn’t because I would have liked for it to last a little longer.

It’s a gem.

4/5 stars. I wanted to read this book after thoroughly enjoying “This Spells Love” by the same author. This book has the same elements of magical realism and the same heart. While this is a romance like Kate Robb’s debut novel, a big focus is on personal growth and not just cookie cutter romance.

This book felt like a homage to all of us teen drama lovers who are now adults. If you ever wished you could live inside Dawson’s Creek or Gilmore Girls, this book is your chance to see how that might go. Spoiler: it’s probably not everything you’d hope for.

The first 20% was a little slow while figuring out all the characters, but it picked up quickly. It’s an easy, fun read with some depth that I will be recommending to my fellow book lovers,
