If you enjoy HGTV home renovation shows, second chance sweet love stories, found family, and depth-filled emotions that are so relatable - you'll love this book! This book has renovated its way to the top of my favorites of 2024. It's such a great book and I loved every moment reading. This book does cover processing emotions of miscarriage, stillbirth, and death grief, so trigger warning if that touches a nerve too closely right now. As a birth mom who placed a child for adoption and having experienced a miscarriage myself- the authentic wording of loss and working to heal was very relatable. T.I. Lowe did a wonderful job honoring these experiences, while still incorporating healing and hope for the future.

Lowcountry Lost. This book was phenomenal. I sobbed my eyes out the last 30% or so. A redemptive story on so many levels. If you like home renovation stories, you will love this one. I loved reading Rowan and Avalee's story. I only wish I could experience this book again for the first time.
**it does discuss miscarriage and pregnancy loss**

Lowcountry Lost, by T. I. Lowe is an amazing contemporary Christian fiction story. This is a nicely written story that grabbed my attention right away and held it to the very end. I enjoy reading stories of rebuilding and making something old new. This story fits that description perfectly. As Avalee and her crew make an old abandoned town into a new town filled with fun stores and businesses, she and her ex husband struggle to repair their relationship after experiencing terrible loss.

I enjoyed the many different characters in the story. I enjoyed the humor the brothers brought to the story yet how caring the whole crew were for each other. I also enjoyed how loyal Rowan was to her and how he was there for her when he knew she needed him. I especially enjoyed the wisdom of her older relative. This is a wonderful story of loss, moving forward and second chances, not only for Avalee and Roawan but also for the two young boys they help out and the town they rebuild.

I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this story, this is my honest review.

I really loved this book about moving through past mistakes and heartache to create a meaningful life with people you love and care for. It was very emotional and I was rooting so hard for the main character Avalee to find the peace she was looking for. I absolutely loved the setting (Southern, small town) and would love to visit such a place. Even though it had some heavy serious themes it also had a lot of humor and romance. Highly recommended!

I am normally a big fan of T.I. Lowe’s books, but this one not as much. There were certainly some good points about it but I would definitely not say it was among my favorite reads this year.

I received this book from the publisher via net galley in exchange for an honest review.

I discovered this author last year while on vacation in South Carolina. Indigo Isle was my first book (loved it!) and that was quickly followed by her Carolina Coast series (all great). So I was excited to receive an ARC of this upcoming release. Avalee and Rowan were childhood friends who married but divorced six years ago. They are thrown together to work on a project: revitalizing a ghost town. This story was the perfect blend of second chance romance and found family with a sprinkle of humor, some difficult topics (well handled), and a memorable cast of characters.

LOWCOUNTRY LOST is sure to delight fans of women's fiction. The home renovation tv angle is super fun, and I especially appreciated the treatment of healing, and how it can come in many forms. Lowe really sets the scene so beautifully that we as readers feel we are right there with the characters. The main character, Avalee, needs to face her past trauma, which is hard to do, and her struggle is relatable. I loved how she began to move past her heartache. The pacing here is somewhat languid but it's women's fiction, not a thriller, so settle in for a good old fashioned story that will tug at your heartstrings. The small town vibes are delightful, and the message is meaningful. A wonderful novel.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance e-galley; all opinions in this review are completely my own.

Oh mylanta! This book was sooooo good!!

I adored Lowe's Under the Magnolias, and have had my eye on her books ever since. Indigo Isle (her next release after that) "wasn't really my favorite" (to borrow from my nephew); enjoyable, and a gorgeous cover, but I did prefer Magnolias in both writing and content.

Lowcountry Lost is absolutely on par with Magnolias, which thrills me to no end. :) A fabulous storyline, endearing characters (Bash! Koda! The twins!), and Christian faith woven throughout.

Certainly, living in the South as I now do (:D) lent the read added depth, and I am starting to get the appeal of "Southern fiction," a new(ish)-to-me genre. The book is a welcome, fabulous addition to the genre; fans of Nicholas Sparks (or those looking for alternatives) will enjoy this one.

I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

"Lowcountry Lost’s motto was that nothing was ever too far gone."
Tonya Inez Lowe has done it again. She has written another southern fiction book that shredded my heart, put it back together again, and mixed it up with laughter in between. No one does it better than she does. With exemplary story telling from the heart, the reader learns from the characters that restoration and healing comes in many forms. From a mangy dog to two orphans and a couple of people who needed them all. Avalee Elvis and Rowan Murphy learn that souls can be restored just like a ghost town. I couldn't put it down until the very satisfying and happy ending. I highly recommend this book.

Lowcountry Lost is set in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, specifically Colleton County which is somewhere between Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA. It’s a pretty rural county, but it has some amazing beaches. Avalee is a fixer. She makes a living by restoring and renovating (yes, those are two different things) buildings so that they can find new life. She and her business partners have decided to see how far they can take their skills by bringing back to life a small town. The main street has been abandoned for quite some time and Avalee has her work cut out for her. When she discovers that Rowan (her childhood sweetheart ex husband) is the structural engineer hired by investors to oversee the project, she has to come to terms with the things in her life that she wasn’t able to fix.

It’s a tough love story because Avalee and Rowan suffered miscarriages that lead to their separation. She’s still running from that pain and it shows up around a lot of corners. Tons of crying on my part. How things get worked out is well done and doesn’t feel overly simplistic, even though it’s a standard romance in some ways.

I liked it. It was sad, but it was also beautiful and fun. Overall, a nice trip back to South Carolina.

I love this author and I love the way she can make you feel like you're in a southern town with a "southern pace". This story is about a woman who faced immense trauma and years later has still not dealt with it. While renovating a "ghost town" she begins facing her heartache. This book could definitely be too triggering for some readers but I thought it was handled with grace. There were moments when I felt the pacing drag but overall I loved Avalee's story and would highly recommend this book.

Troupes:
second chance
hgtv vibes

Trigger Warnings:
miscarriage
stillborn loss

I enjoyed read Lowcountry Lost, a contemporary Christian romance set in a small South Carolina ghost town that’s undergoing renovation and renewal. Avalee’s business, Lowcountry Lost, won the contract to do a large scale ghost town renewal project with a seven month time frame. She’s shocked to learn that Rowan, a man she’s known since childhood, will be working on the project. Avalee feels things deeply and she is struggling to deal with grief and loss.

The story is in first person and in Avalee’s point of view with a focus on exploring her journey to healing and restoration. The romance is sweet, and kicks off with a strong enemies-to-love vibe between Avalee and Rowan before deepening into something that’s complicated and messy and beautiful. I appreciated the quirky side characters and how both Avalee and Rowan cared for Bash, the young runaway.

I recommend Lowcountry Lost to contemporary romance readers who like childhood sweetheart second chance romances with depth, a strong Southern USA flavour, and a faith element organically woven into the fabric of the story.

Many thanks to Tyndale and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy.

It had been six years since the demise of Avalee and Rowan's marriage. But when her firm, Lowcountry Lost, is tapped to revitalize a ghost town, she finds none other than her ex-husband as part of the crew. Pushed back into each others lives, would they be able to heal from their past losses and move forward together?

"Lowcountry Lost's motto was that nothing was ever too far gone."

This book!! It started out as a second chance romance which I was fully onboard with and also had a touch of mystery. I had no idea what drove Rowan and Avalee apart, but it was clear that Rowan wanted to be part of Avalee's life again. He would drop these exceptionally romantic lines that made my heart melt and sometimes moved me to tears. Every time he called her "a stór" (my treasure in Irish). *swoon* Never mind all the history they shared.

"Six or sixty...If doesn't matter how many years go by. You and I, a stór, will ever be strangers."

Friends since third grade, their love evolved from platonic to romantic. They married, but after suffering some great losses, they divorced. The circumstances surrounding their breakup are heartbreaking, but also made this second chance seem so viable. What I loved was the parallels between the revitalization of Somewhere, South Carolina, and the restoration and healing that both Rowan and Avalee needed.

"From day one, way back in third grade, you demanded I follow you, and I have."

Speaking of the revitalization of the ghost town - what a great premise. I really enjoyed watching the town transform and getting to observe the process. It was interesting and made even better with the addition of some great characters and a subplot that tugged on my heartstrings.

"We'd lost a lot, but look at how much we'd found within the ruins of our loss."

With a great balance of heavier topics and humor, wonderful characters, and a beautiful second chance romance, Lowcountry Lost was a hit for me. There were times I cried because my heart hurt so much for Rowen and Avalee, but those tears I shed at the end, were tears of pure joy and happiness.

Lowcountry Lost is an excellent new novel by T.I. Lowe. Achingly heart rendering, haunting but hopeful, Lowe has penned a story that deeply resonated. As readers delve into the story of restoring a ghost town, they encounter a restoration of a whole other measure. The characters come alive before your eyes in ever deepening succession, as issues of loss, broken marriages, and shattered dreams fill the pages. This book, however, doesn’t stop there. For Lowe weaves in a message of hope that unites all these elements in a poignant, satisfying finish. Lowcountry Lost is truly a remarkable read!

Wow! Prepare for an emotional roller-coaster. This book had me laughing and crying. There is loss, heartbreaking memories, and tears. There's also second chances, new memories, and renewed love! "We'd lost a lot, but look at how much we'd found within the ruins of our loss."

These characters are some of my all-time favorites! Avalee's backstory broke my heart. Her losses were monumental. As each piece of the puzzle was coming together, I hoped that the product would be a brighter future. Rowan- hunk! Yes, he's more than that! He's compassionate, trustworthy, persistent, and loyal! I'm so happy that Bash and Koda found a family!

Some difficult issues are brought up in the book. Death, murder, miscarriages and failed relationships. I really appreciated the author's note concerning miscarriages. I, too, had a scare, and it's traumatizing. The reminder that God is in control is important.

Somewhere, South Carolina is brought to life as each building is restored and revitalized! It's a place that I'd definitely like to visit! This is the first book I've read by T I Lowe, but it certainly won't be the last!

I was provided a complimentary copy of the book from Tyndale and Interviews and Reviews via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

“LowCountry Lost” by T.I.Lowe
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Release date: 9/3/24

Who doesn’t love a fixer upper story with a side of romance? It has never disappointed me. It took me a minute to get into it, but once I did I flew through it. The characters are likeable and a second chance romance is always fun. There is a heartbreaking backstory. Trigger warning miscarriage.

Avalee Elvis accepts a project to rebuild a town in somewhere South Carolina. She has the perfect crew and vision. What she wasn’t expecting was her ex-husband Rowan was going to be helping the investors as their structural engineer. Avalee did everything to ignore him. They divorced 6 years ago, but grew up together and were best friends. They not only lost their marriage, but their friendship. Rowan is still in love with Avalee and will do whatever it takes to get her back. Avalee just wants to focus on this massive rebuild. Will they make it back to each other?

Thank you to T. I. Lowe, NetGalley, and Tyndale Fiction for this #gifted book!*

Synopsis: “Loving this man was as easy as breathing. I just needed to figure out how to stop suffocating under the weight of our grievous past.” Though Avalee is reaching middle age, she’s created something for herself as the owner of Lowcountry Lost. Her renovation company has tackled many projects before, so when the opportunity to revive an abandoned town comes along, the crew is ready to jump in and bring it back to life. As the planning gets underway, Avalee is blindsided when the her first love arrives as part of the project. Once this man was her everything, but she’d thought their love died along with her dreams. Thrown together for months of work, Rowan and Avalee are tasked with facing the problems of not only a ghost town but also the ghosts of their past.

Analysis: I’ve really struggled to put into words my love for this book. HGTV meets a family drama in this beautiful story of loss and love. But you’ll also find plenty of fun and humor throughout the pages too. I absolutely loved the characters and the storyline of this book. I don’t think I’ve read anything like it! T. I. Lowe builds the story of real-life struggles and fears as Avalee and Rowan have to sort through the struggles of grief. Both main characters are raw and relatable. And the side characters add depth to the story with found family. If you’re looking for a book that will make you laugh, cry, and love a little harder, Lowcountry Lost is one to add to your shelves right away.

T.I Lowe is quickly becoming an author I must read. She beautifully told the emotions of grief after miscarriages and how hard that is for a couple. The second chance romance was fun to read and I loved how she brought them back together. I love a good romance that starts out as friends when they were kids. All the history there is so fun to read about and makes the romance so much more believable. I did get bogged down a bit by all the restoration information. That's not really my thing so I skimmed over those parts. Excellent and moving story though.

This is the first book I’ve read by T.I. Lowe, and I enjoyed this introduction to her books. I like her writing style.

“Lowcountry Lost” is a fixer-upper business that friends Avalee Elvis and Desmond Grant started. They renovate ghost towns to bring them back to life. Their newest project is to renovate the buildings of Somewhere, South Carolina to make it into a beautiful small town again.

Avalee loves her work of restoring structures and repurposing items, but she carries memories of what she lost that have left her broken. She doesn't believe she can be whole again. But what she doesn't know is that this project might just make her finally face her past when someone from her past shows up.

This story will appeal to readers who like…
🛠️ A Small town feel
🛠️ Fixer-upper shows
🛠️ Second chance romance
🛠️ Flirty MMCs
🛠️ A little mystery
🛠️ Dogs
🛠️ Easy reads

I loved the story overall. It has heart, a little bit of mystery, and character growth. The main characters seem to be Christians, but there's not much spiritual focus in the story. I so wanted Avalee to voice all her pain and face it in order to heal. And Rowan? He’s who you would want to be there when you feel like you’re falling apart.

Content:
❤️ Kissing (a little steamier than a Hallmark movie)
⚠️ Pregnancy loss is discussed
⚠️ A character twerks
⚠️ A man goes skinny dipping while a woman remains on shore, although, the characters are divorced

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

“I allowed the Loneliness to rob me of my peace and rest.”

A story of grief, loneliness, new beginnings and experiences two people should never have to go through. A story about new hope and how to focus on peace and not questions we can’t answer.

Even though I was a bit frustrated at the slow pace and start to this book, in Order to understand the grief Avalee and Rowan endured you needed the in depth details to understand.

Definitely one I would recommend.
