T.I. Lowe has written a lot of amazing books, but Lowcountry Lost is her best yet. It will take readers on an emotional journey, one that's poignant, funny, sad, romantic, touching and completely satisfying in every way!
Lowcountry Lost is a classic portrayal of love lost with all its accompanying pain and grief. But life goes on and just maybe it's not over until it's over. Lowe has some great quotes throughout,
"Toeing the threshold of forty, the idea of finding anything past platonic with anyone seemed to be an idea fading faster than cheap wallpaper."
"Since I can't have any of the big happies of life I've settled for the small ones. Like cake for supper."
The abandoned town of Somewhere, South Carolina, is the setting for this wonderful story. The descriptions of the town from falling apart, to taking on new life through renovation is a proverbial feast, restoring both the town and the human heart simultaneously.
Avalee and Rowan were the perfectly imperfect couple. I know I have a terrific romance on my hands when I'm cheering for both of them. Swoon worthy,
"Six or sixty...it doesn't matter how many years go by. You and I, a stor, will never be strangers."
Lowcountry Lost is one of my favorite books of 2024. If you love Southern fiction, or any well written fiction for that matter, don't miss this one. I appreciate Tyndale House Publishers making a copy of Lowcountry Lost available for review. All thoughts and opinions are my very own.

Lowcountry Lost by T. I. Lowe was a sweet story of second chances, healing, and new beginnings, where Christian values were expressed without being preachy. Avalee and Rowan, the two main characters, have been through some deeply tragic times, and those experiences are prevalent throughout the book, as they work to find peace and closure. Some of the inspiration for this book came from events in the author's own personal life, which gives it a more authentic feel. There was a pleasant cast of supporting characters, and I loved the premise of this story, especially that the FMC was an accomplished and successful woman in the trades. However, I didn't love the execution. It was ok, but maybe not particularly memorable, and the dialogue was a little cheesy from time to time.
I rated Lowcountry Lost by T. I. Lowe 3/5 stars. I recommend this book to those who enjoys a clean, but saucy, romance, with a guaranteed happy ending for everyone.
Thank you to NetGalley, T. I. Lowe, and Tyndale House Publishers for the opportunity to read the ARC of this book. I was not required to write a review, and all opinions expressed are my own.

I've always loved T.I. Lowe's books because they are (1). Christian-oriented (2). Small town/country settings. (3). Unforgettable characters. This was a beautiful book about a second-chance romance, and it will certainly pull at your heartstrings. Recommended.

I like many things about this book - the setting, the second-chance romance, the fixer-upper aspects. But I just could not see the characters and scenes in my mind’s eye. I think one of the reasons is that, to me, tackling a town (albeit a small one) by one lady and a small team seems to me to be highly unrealistic.
So, this one to me is a 3-star.

Tear-jerker about a woman trying to outrun her painful past by restoring abandoned towns. When she runs into someone from her past, she must decide whether to go forward or stay in the past.

This was my first book by this author, but certainly not my last if this book is anything to go by as I really enjoyed this story about resurrecting a ghost town and bringing all the buildings back to life, along with a little mystery about one of the buildings.
Avalee Elvis (I loved her name, I probably would have picked the book up just for that!) has a contractor business with two partners where they find old buildings to buy and bring back to life. The job they are currently starting is the biggest they have taken on, with the little town of 'Somewhere' completely deserted, so all the buildings need renovating and new tenants found for all the businesses and accomodation.
There are various financial backers for such a large project, and one of the people working for the backers is Rowan, a structural engineer, but as it turns out also Avalee's ex-husband. She didn't know he would be working on this job and wasn't happy about it.
There's a lot of emotion flying around as it's obvious to anyone that they both still love each other, but split up after a series of heartbreaks that had them both struggling with life and their relationship in general. But this is six years later and while Rowan has mostly come to terms with previous issues, Avalee is still struggling and doesn't want to be around Rowan - initially anyway!
There is such a great cast of characters in this book, from Avalee's partners, to the various contractors working on the job, and a young homeless guy, Bash, who turns up looking for work one day and ends up being part of their family, with a few hiccups along the way.
This is also classed as Christian fiction, which I admit isn't my go-to for a book, but I loved the storyline so much I decided to give it a go. So whilst there are a couple of religious/church mentions that's all there were, and it didn't detract from the book at all for me as I enjoyed the whole story so much I hardly noticed it.
I wish this book was a series as I loved the whole idea of rehabbing deserted properties and bringing them back to life. Great read, a book I read in a day as I couldn't put it down!

I loved this Christian novel about a female contractor and her engineer ex-husband, who work together to renovate a ghost town as they face the terrible losses in their own relationship. Can they revive their love?

I enjoyed LOWCOUNTRY LOST by T I LOWE so much that I did not want the book to finish! It is the story of unforgettable characters working together to bring life to a dead town and of making something beautiful out of what has been discarded. We see treasure being found in the strangest places and the restoration of people and relationships as well as the buildings. “This ghost town keeps on offering up secrets, “ …”tearing something up in order to put it back together.”
As their loneliness, grief and raw emotions are uncovered and they face their loss together, we wonder if Avalee and Rowan will ever get back together. and if Avalee will be able to accept life once more without running away. Will they be able to make a new start as “ staying put in the past had become a terrible burden”.
This revitalization project is revitalizing more than the town of Somewhere and there is a subtle Christian message of restoration of families, love and never giving up on a person, running through the novel. I really enjoy the author’s writing style.
I cannot recommend Lowcountry Lost strongly enough.
I was given an ARC of the book by NetGalley from Tyndale House Publishers. The opinions in this review are comletely my own.
