I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters and the plot were believable. I recommend this book.
4.75 stars!!! WOW, this was a nearly perfect book to me. I loved the characters, and I love that reading this book felt so refreshing and not like everything else I’ve already read. As someone who majored in fashion merchandising in college I especially enjoyed the back story and details of Revenant. I also loved the weekend on Broadway for the bachelorette, it was written so accurately (& from someone who lives in Nashville, hilarious to read about). But even without those connections, I still believe I would’ve loved this book. The writing was so effortless and fun to read, I could barely put this book down. I wouldn’t consider this a slow burn romance by any means, but I really appreciate the time and effort that went into giving Josie & Will a realistic seeming relationship! (Also the fact that there was no 3rd act breakup really sealed the deal that this book was amazing!) I will 100% recommend this book and look forward to whatever this author is going to write next! I would say if you enjoy books by Emily Henry or Sarah Adams, give this author a chance! Thank you to NetGalley, the Publisher, and Clare Gilmore for the opportunity to read this ARC!
I loved this a lot. I love a man that PINES AND YEARNS. And female friendships!!! Clare DOES NOT MISS!! Thank you netgalley for the ARC
Clare Gilmore offers such a fresh voice to the contemporary romance space! I loved her debut, Love Interest, and was eager to get my hands on her sophomore novel Perfect Fit. Thank you to St. Martin's and NetGalley for the e-arc!
Perfect Fit was everything I wanted and more. It follows Josie, a late 20s exhausted zillenial who has "girlbossed too close to the sun." Josie runs into her best friend's brother (or rather, he runs into her... literally) and they embark on a professional, work relationship while also untangling years of assumptions, hurt, and finding worth in all the wrong places. Of course, they also find love along the way.
Clare's writing is witty, relevant, and gets you right in your feelings when you least expect it. Perfect Fit is a must-read for 2024 and Clare Gilmore is an auto-buy author for me after 2 knock-outs in her first two books. If you have a complicated relationship with work-- wanting to prove yourself and live a meaningful existence but also craving a softer life-- this book is especially for you!
Female CEO and consultant/ex-best-friend's-brother find each other 9 years after a kiss that ruins relationships.
I was drawn to this book because I've only heard good things about Gilmore's first book, Love Interest, but while this book was brilliantly written, I wasn't obsessed with it. Firstly, the ideas about being young and free in your twenties looking a certain way never sits right with me. Secondly, the massive amounts of pop culture reference (lotsss of Taylor Swift ones) that I won't understand in 5 years is a turn off for me. Clearly, these are all personal icks in a book for me, so I do think that many people could enjoy this book and give it five stars.
I did really love both characters, though. You can see their flaws and how they try to overcome them. This really is just a fun, silly read that's written well.
Solid 3.5
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for sending this DRC for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an e-ARC of PERFECT FIT by Clare Gilmore in exchange for my review. This novel hits shelves on Oct. 29th!
CW: grandparent death, infidelity
4.5 stars! This was my first book by the author, but it won't be my last. I loved the tropes: Second chance, ex best friend's brother, found family. I loved the banter between all the characters. It had me giggling and laughing out loud. I loved the friendship theme and Josie's and Cami's friendship. Will was amazing. The The Summer I Turned Pretty reference was bittersweet due to the fact that we aren't getting season three this summer like many of us hoped and thought. And being a Nashville Predators fan I love that it was set in Nashville and the Preds references throughout the book. The reason this isn't a five-star read for me is that it's only told from Josie's POV and I would have loved Will's POV as well. The ending was also left open-ended and I didn't love that. I definitely recommend this if you're looking for a romance with friendship and laugh-out-loud banter!
This was a darling second book from Clare Gilmore. I enjoyed the characters & the relationships they shared. This book showcased self-love, friendship love, romantic love, and even loving what you do and how you spend your time. It was a quick easy read with enough depth to not feel like a complete fluff piece.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are mine alone.
This was such a cute and easy read. It follows Josie, the head of a successful fashion company, who literally drives into Will, her ex-best friend's brother, who she hasn't seen since high school. Will winds up consulting with her company and the two get to know each other again. It touches a lot on the hustle culture, her struggle with work-life balance, her insecurities, and her burnout. There was a slight second chance aspect to it. Clare Gilmore is 3/3 for me.
This book is one of my top of the year and pulled me out of a months long book slump. I adored her debut novel and somehow this is even better. Clare Gilmore will be done my must read list going forward.
This book follows CEO Josephine "Josie" Davis as she navigates work, friendships, and a new romantic relationship. As the head of a popular online fashion company called Revenant, Josie Davis is a certified workaholic, trying to bring Revenant into a new market while also balancing a hundred other commitments. On her way to work one morning, Josie collides (literally) with someone from her complicated past. Will Grant is someone who Josie parted ways with in high school after she fell out with his twin sister, Zoe. Seeing Will again ignites some feelings Josie has tried to repress, but when the two of them are thrust into a working relationship, Josie must confront her ever-growing feelings for the irresistible Will.
This book has it all: sweet friendships, humor, inspiring reflections on mental health journeys, tearjerking scenes, and a swoonworthy romance. So, naturally, I am obsessed with this book!! Literally, it was perfection! Josie is a girlboss (sorry for using that term, Josie!) who has a compelling voice and narrative. I loved the way she thought about things and worked through her emotions and reactions to difficult situations. Despite her falling out with Zoe years prior, Josie has healthy relationships with basically everyone in the book, which was really positive to read about. While her relationship with work was NOT healthy, her journey to realizing that will leave readers with important life lessons.
Most importantly, Josie and Will are the cutest couple EVER. The way Will spoke to her!!! PLEASE! I ate up their scenes together. Gilmore is a masterful writer who makes her characters' chemistry undeniable. And the best part about their relationship in the book was that there was no third-act breakup!
I'm so glad I had the chance to read this book. After Love Interest and now Perfect Fit, Clare Gilmore is an automatic-buy author for me in the future. Thanks, NetGalley and St. Martin's Press, for this digital ARC!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. This is a new to me author and I enjoyed every single minute of this book. Completely adorable. Would definitely read another book by her.
Thank you to Net Galley and St. Martin’s Press for this digital ARC.
Out of the 61 books I’ve read so far this year, this is one of my favorites.
It’s a feel-good story that had me laughing and gave me butterflies while still dealing with real-life scenarios.
This book had me captivated from the first page, which is rare for me. I can’t wait until it’s released and I can tell everyone to read it.
Perfect Fit is a beautiful love story that yes features a HEA but also centers around knowing ourselves and loving who we are, deeply. I was excited to read Clare’s next novel and it met my expectations every step of the way. I had trouble putting it down.
The character development and dialogue were so well done. The flow and angst were metered perfectly.
Pick this up for read a love letter to identify, ambition and being a woman in a complicated online world. This is A+!
I loved this book so much! It was heartfelt, funny and just overall a comfort read! I loved the meet cute as well! Josie and Will have great chemistry and I loved Will flirting with her- I was a giggly mess lol
Thanks for the ARC!!!
I enjoyed Clare Gilmore's first book and thoroughly enjoyed this one as well. A sweet book about love and self love. I thought all of the relationships were very sweet and although there were several characters I felt I could follow well and enjoyed all of them.
Thank you netgalley for an advanced copy. My opinions are my own.
After losing tough because of an incident in high school, Josie and Will are reunited when Will becomes a consultant for Josie’s clothing brand. Just as there was nine years ago, Josie and Will have undeniable chemistry, but will past and current barriers stand in the way? I enjoyed this book. It is definitely a slow burn, which at time frustrated me but I love how these two characters really took the time to get to know each other. I also love how Will helped Josie there is more to life than work. Cute story.
♾️/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Perfection 👌
I wasn't ready for it to be over!!
I loved literally everything about this book 🩷
Forever grateful to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC 🥹
I enjoyed the relationship between Will and Josie. The side characters were well-developed.
The characters, especially the supporting characters, were very likeable. Overall, a fun, light read!
Special thanks to NetGalley for sharing this digital ARC with me in exchange for my honest review.
Y'all ever want to just hit pause on reading so that you can hold the book to your chest and squeal for a second? That's how I felt reading this. This was so sweet, earnest, and real. It felt like a love letter to me and all my crispy girl-bossing, career-minded female friends busting our tails to get everything in work/life to come together. ALSO. I'm always down for a story that reiterates that we are all deserving of love - intrinsically and from others - irrespective of all the Messy Bits we contain. Sign me up for whatever Clare Gilmore writes next because I'm here for it <3
3.5 ⭐️ i’ll start by saying i am truly confused on my feelings of this book. so i’ll start with what i loved! i don’t typically enjoy best friend’s brother tropes, but this one was written so well! ceo boss babe with a successful man begging to give everything up for her, just to be in her life. this is so uncommon in books, i feel, and it was incredibly refreshing to have the mmc pick his life up for our fmc. NO THIRD ACT BREAK UP!!!!! this soothes my soul, + i was immensely relieved.
what i didn’t love so much, the book felt incredibly rushed. the beginning felt rushed + i was bummed when the ending also felt like they were in a hurry to just finish it. i genuinely did not feel like J + Will had much chemistry… but i think that was due in part to the book just feeling so rushed.
overall, i feel like something was just missing for me in this book. it was a cute read, but i can’t say that i finished my read feeling fulfilled + giggly. which is a feeling a crave when it comes to contemp romance.
quotes i adored:
“But I was never meant to be your hero. I honestly think you were meant to be mine.”
“The way you feel to me is like an inevitable rightness.”
