This second chance romance was a little too slow burn for me. I also felt they retold the circumstances around their initial connection too many times so it became repetitive. I did like how supportive Will was and that Josie was a strong, independent FMC.

It’s been nearly a decade since Josephine Davis kissed her best friend’s brother, Will Davis, effectively ruining her friendship with his sister Zoe. Since then, she’s dedicated herself to launching her own clothing brand, Revenant. When Will comes crashing back into her life—literally—Josie must reconsider whether the brand should always come first, or if sometimes, she gets to prioritize herself.

I loved the pacing of this story—while Josie’s attraction for Will was always simmering at the surface, the two of them did not dive right into a relationship. Clare Gilmore gave them time to build a friendship, a foundation for their relationship; this felt very true to their characters, given that last time, when they moved immediately into a physical relationship, it had devastating consequences. Josie’s struggles with social media and burnout also felt very real, and it made her an extremely relatable character. Yes, she was a twenty-something CEO, but even she had a hard time believing that, and Gilmore navigated her imposter system so delicately. Will had his own dreams and motives, which proved to be essential in establishing that he wasn’t just following Josie wherever, whenever—he was making major decisions for himself, too. I did find the premise for the end of Josie and Zoe’s friendship to be a bit unrealistic—I could see it leading to a massive fight, but it felt unlikely that neither of them would have reached out after all that time. I also found the epilogue to be a little unsatisfying, mainly the cliffhanger at the end. While the story was about Josie’s growth, and therefore her answer to the question on the final page didn’t matter, I really wanted a concrete answer to what the future held for her. With that said, I enjoyed watching the relationship between Josie and Will unfold, and I would absolutely recommend this book to romance lovers, especially those who enjoy the second-chance trope.

I love that there was no third-act breakup in this story. The characters were very natural and their love story was sweet and believable. All they had to overcome were some personal issues from the past. I was very excited for them to get together and I'm glad that their relationship didn't happen too soon.

Second chance romance books are my biggest weakness, making this book the ultimate comfort read for me. I truly enjoyed the deeper topics discussed, adding such rich complexity to the story. Will has quickly become my newest book boyfriend, and I fear my heart may never be the same. His love and care for Josie in all the ways she needs is simply beautiful. This was such a sweet and heartfelt read!

The characters are wonderfully relatable. The author’s vivid descriptions and engaging dialogue make it easy to get lost in the story. This novel is a delightful read that leaves you with a warm, fuzzy feeling and a renewed belief in the power of love. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a feel-good romance!

Not only will I almost always love a book that’s set in Austin (and mentioning a couple of my favorite spots and restaurants!!), the second chance love!! The love and need for female best friends!! The understanding of burnout and imposter syndrome!! This story has it all. Not only does it have you rooting for the protagonists, Will and Josie, but it has you rooting for them individually, because the understanding isn’t that they complete each other but they support and build each other up, alongside with their network of community. I haven’t been so enraptured for a while to stay up till 4am to read such an amazing little romcom, and I’m so glad I did for this one.

Josephine Davis, the overworked CEO of fashion brand Revenant, is forced to hire a consultant by her biggest investor, and to her surprise, it's Will Grant, the twin brother of her estranged ex-best friend. Despite their rocky past and a shared kiss nine years ago, they find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other. With old wounds, geographical distance, and Josie's demanding career complicating their budding romance, Josie must decide whether to stay single for productivity or slow down for love.

This book was so good. It had the feel of an early 2000’s romcom, relatable characters, and emotional depth. I honestly loved it from the first page.

Josie was a strong and independent FMC. I love that she was her own person and that Will fully supported her in that. Both main characters were kind and successful in their own ways and they truly made one another better. The character development (both individual and relationship growth) was top notch. Clare Gilmore did a great job creating tension and conflict without adding in an unnecessary third-act breakup. There was still a lot of miscommunication, but it really was mostly between side characters.

I highly recommend 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗙𝗶𝘁! Thank you Clare Gilmore, St. Martin’s Griffin, and NetGalley for the eARC. Definitely add this one to your TBR and pick it up on 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰!

My biggest critique is that I wanted more! Will and Josie are so special and I loved reading their story. The pining was next level and the hotel make out session was hot! The subplots were interesting and I read this book super quick!

I can’t wait to see what is next for Clare Gilmore! 🫶

Thank you St martin’s press and Netgalley for the digital ARC!! Would absolutely Reccomend! Mark Your Calendars!!!

October 29th is Release day!

Finished earlier so haven’t fully decided on a Star Rating but inbetween 3.5/4 Stars!

Overall I enjoyed this book, I will end up recommending the author and Novel once it’s released. Will most likely add a Staff Pick Sticker on it once it’s released because i did enjoy it and it was super cutie!! I think Will the MMC was adorable and my favourite person ever, he communicated and let her be herself without her CEO title Emasculating him, He was strong and he loved her to pieces for the last decade. Josie was a great FMC and she had a backbone which is suprising cuz a lot of FMC’s don’t. The Setting was always perfect, their sick scenes were so heartwarming and the friendships in the whole story were *chefs kiss*.

I loved the Strong FMC Josie, She was cute and had a backbone and didn’t just run away from her Life as soon as a man stepped into it.

I loved Will, He was on his knees with how much he loved her, He stood up anytime she walked into a room, like sir!!! He Helped her, filled her fridge, stayed with her while she course work. Just was a perfect man!

What i didn’t really like, was the constant references to Pop culture, Personally i think it was overdone and it ages the book. There was mentions of Strava, S1 of TSITP, Barbie movie, Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour Album, Etc. I’m not a fan of it, seemed like it was done too often, and just isn’t for me, maybe others will go oh i love that, etc. But i didn’t enjoy those moments.

I unfortunately felt like I did not connect with the characters and writing style. The story started fast, moved slowly through the middle and ended fast and some issues the characters were having felt contradictory. I did like that there was no third act breakup!

Excuse me while I gush about this book. I absolutely loved it. Will and Josie are perfectly imperfect. This book has everything from romance to friendships, rebuilding of relationships, separating the work from the person, social media and the expectations and judgement of others, and so much more that Clare writes expertly and beautifully. Perfect Fit is the perfect blend of accepting flaws, honest truths, unconditional love, and learning how to be your best self. “Everything I think about is in reference to you.”-me to this book

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read Perfect Fit. I read the entire book in one day! The title fits the story perfectly. Josie and Will are the perfect fit. However, it took Josie most of the book to allow herself to relax and live a happy life with the man she loves. This romance book was different than most other romance books because the couple never really fell apart or had major problems. I actually really enjoyed this different book.

Rounded up to 3.5 Stars!

Josie is a successful career woman, having created a fashion line/company. She needs a consultant to help her with a new goal she has. Here is where Will enters. He is the brother of her ex-best friend in high school. ok- here we go!

I liked the character of Josie. She was intelligent, focused, caring to her friends. She always thought about others, and wanted to make sure that they were happy. She goes through a crisis because she has been so career focused- wanting to achieve each of her goals, that she does not know how to relax, and has lost touch of what she really wants to be doing. And speaking of friends, I absolutely LOVED the character of Chloe- her best friend in the present. She was such a vibrant, encouraging character. And the scenes written about the interaction between she and her fiance? Sublime! Although there were only a couple, you could feel the chemistry, tenderness, and connection with these two. I want to see a book about them!

The character of Will. He is always supportive, always there, and asks for nothing for himself. And while this is a very attractive character, towards the middle and the end I wanted to yell at him! Come on- it is ok to get frustrated and angry, and desire a little respect/consideration for your own pain! His patience was inhuman. At one point Josie is confused- admitting she cares about him, but not sure if it is long term. Will's reply, "Just use me!". Umm, ok. I started to feel a little uncomfortable with the ever giving, always patient Will.

The thing that set this story in motion? A kiss! A kiss in their senior year, when they were both having a bad day. Will's twin sister (Josie's BFF), saw the kiss, and that was it for their friendship. And Will and Josie never spoke again, because Will and Zoe's family moved. Will has always felt bad about this, and has never connected romantically with any of his former girlfriends- because of Josie, and this kiss they shared in high school. This seems a little trivial to springboard the story off of, and that is why I am detracting one star.

Overall, this is cute, and I stayed engaged through most of it. I am going to try her other novel!

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martins Press for the ARC. This is my honest, voluntary review.

After absolutely loving my last Clare Gilmore read, I couldn’t wait to pick up Perfect Fit. And no surprise, it was a pure delight.

During her senior year of highschool, Josie made a mistake. Truly, it wasn’t a big deal, but like all teenage drama, it spiralled, and Josie has been impacted by it ever since. But that one mistake, which happened to be a kiss with her best friend’s twin brother, cost her that friendship, and taught her that social media can be vicious. But when Will literally runs into her years later, the sparks are still there and Josie can’t deny them.

Josie is a flawed character – which makes her real. She struggles with her work/life balance, and has moments of hypocrisy (she gives others grace, but not herself). And like all great romance leads, Will is patient, loving, and tender. Also, smart and financially sound. Their romance is pure and sweet, and supportive of each other.

Loved this. Loved them. Love anything Clare Gilmore writes.

Thank you so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc of this book in exchange for an honest review!

I requested a bunch of romance on here because I wanted to try it out. However, romance is just not working for me at the moment. I think its more me than the books themselves so I will be giving this one a neutral rating.

I just couldn't get into the story and felt bored. I know many others who have loved this one so I think it is more a me problem than anything.

I loved this book! It's well-written, enjoyable, and a great read. Clare Gilmore did a great job of writing in a way that captures the readers attention, and makes you not want to put it down until you're finished! I would highly recommend it!

Josie works hard in her twenties to build up a fashion brand when her biggest investor has her hire a consultant she ends up with Will the twin brother of her ex-best friend.

Will and Josie definitely have a history and you do throughout the course of the book. Find out exactly what went down between them as well as why Josie is no longer friends with Will's sister. Ultimately everybody in this book did some bad and horrible things. Will and Josie have to decide if they can overcome their past and distance in order to really make a relationship.

Whereas this was a very enjoyable book. I can't give it a full five stars because it did feel long. I did find myself sort of skimming a few scenes just because they felt unnecessary and didn't really seem like they added to the plot. Other than that, it is a very enjoyable book and I recommend if you're at all interested in a sort of enemies to lovers office romance with a lot of drama.

Enemies to lovers?! Second chances? A rom com set in Austin? This was so up my alley, it was like it was written for me. I loved this book so much and cannot wait to read more!

DID NOT FINISH.

I really think this book has some excellent characters and sweet moments. However, I never got all the way into it. Picking it up and setting it back down became the norm, and I think I lost a lot of momentum because of that. I'll have to try again in a few months.
