I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Mindfulness for Teen Anxiety is a supportive mindfulness workbook aimed at teenagers but upon reading it I would say it's a great starting point for anyone young or old to try before taking up therapy if they feel they need extra support.
The books main topics are: how to define anxiety and mindfulness, how anxiety and mindfulness are connected, and mindfulness tools and exercises to implement in your life to help decrease and manage anxiety. The book suggests that you review the exercised on a first read through of the book to gain a strong foundation of understanding, then go back through the book and undertake the exercises and trying out the different skills presented. The book also guides to daily practice and use of the exercises and skill practising to get full benefit of the skills provided as just trying them/doing them once or twice isn't enough to be beneficial.
This is a great book with a wealth of skills to help anxiety, and I'd love to get a physical copy of this not only for my daughter but for myself to use too.
This book provides teens with a fantastic overview of anxiety and mindfulness. Information is provided in bite size chunks, meaning that nothing feels too overwhelming to read through. There is a wide variety of mindfulness activities suggested in the book, giving readers alternatives to the straight, meditation based mindfulness that is often presented to teens. This books is a fantastic resource for teens, teachers and parents to help manage anxiety. I will be purchasing this book for our library and I highly recommend this for all school libraries.
"Mindfulness for Teen Anxiety" is a fantastic resource for teens and anyone who works with them. As a social worker, I found this workbook incredibly helpful, providing practical tools and techniques to teach my patients about mindfulness. The book clearly explains what anxiety is and how it affects the brain and body, making it easier for teens to understand their own experiences. It offers a variety of mindfulness exercises, from short quizzes to creative activities, that can be incorporated into everyday life.
I am a School Counselor who works with teens, and I have gained so many tools that I can use for my students! This book is such a great resource and I am so thankful for NetGalley for the ARC - I have learned a lot more Mindfulness strategies that I can use with my students
