Stunning. A work of art. Everything is beautiful and magical and masterful. I wish there was more book to read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Disney Hyperion for providing me with an egalley of this book to read and give an honest review. The opinions expressed here are my own.
First, let's talk about the cover. WOW! It's what drew me to the book. Yes, I judge books by their covers. However, this one should not be judged by its cover because...
What did I just read? It was SLOW. So much time spent wandering with no direction. I get it, world building is important, but this didn't feel like that. It just felt like rambling writing. And then I didn't feel like I truly understood the world Kaufman was creating. There was potential, don't get me wrong, and I kept reading because I felt invested in seeing what happened and if it got better. But, overall, it just didn't do for me.
I liked the characters enough. Lilac, the spoiled rich girl who transforms and starts to understand things outside her own bubble. I kind of wanted to hit her much of the time for the first 25% of the book. Thank goodness for Taver! He balances Liliac out and steers her in the direction of not being such a snob. Their romance is nice, but nothing new to me with YA books. I like something a little different and this wasn't that.
The writing is good.
I am glad I stuck with it because I did end up enjoying the story but I truly hope the next book is not quite as slow (second book syndrome is a real thing).

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book, but it wasn't quite what I thought it would be. It ended up being even better. A unique premise with excellent execution. The world building was phenomenal, and the pacing was even, which made this a very quick read. The characters were well written and likeable.
I can definitely recommend this YA sci fi-romance, and I look forward to seeing where the story goes in the next book in the series.
5/5 stars.

4.5/5
A very interesting and... unique sci-fi. I stumble on unique because not only is it sort of a Titanic retelling (though it's more of a survivalist story than a James Cameron production) but it also seems to be taking a big page from a sci-fi novel called Solaris (though Solaris isn't nearly as good in my mind). Overall, though, I loved this book and appreciate the fact that there were literally only two characters for most of the novel. Really, just genius!

I unfortunately was not able to read this book. I was excited when ever I had chosen to download or pick this book up on Netgalley. However, time moves by so quickly and I never got to read it.

I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t this. This was a fun, unexpected story that kept me guessing. I never saw any of the twists coming.

Thank You for the opportunity to review this book. Sorry, I attempted to read this book. However, I couldn't get in to it. So, I was unable to finish reading and reviewing it.

This will be a story I read again a few times. I loved the plot and the way the author brought the whole story to life for the readers. It was like you were living the story as you read it.

These Broken Stars is an absolutely amazing YA Sci-Fi. Gripping, fast paced and just how a sci-fi is meant to be written!
Lilac is a socialite and an heiress, Tarver is a soldier from a poor background, but recently glorified for his recent work. From the beginning of the book, the plot takes off very quickly. It's action packed from the beginning. The pair finds themselves stranded on a lowly planet, together, they must find a way to work together so that they can survive. If that's not enough, they soon find out something very disturbing, and they have to make difficult choices!
This is told in alternating point of views by Tarver and Lilac, and I believe (not sure) that the Authors each wrote a character each as their voice was very different from each other, I never felt like I had to look at the chapter header to know who was talking. Tarver and Lilac's relationship was also a beautiful blossoming of romance, no insta-love here. It was a sweet, and fragile escalation from outright strangers (maybe even with a bit of dislike) to the romance that ended up blossoming.
This book was absolutely amazing! I cannot say anything bad about it. The world building was fantastic, each description was vivid. The reasoning behind why the world they were traversing through was fantastic and believable.
This book was amazing in characterisation and story. It's so well written. It engrossed me from the first page right through the last, and I devoured it, wanting more! This is definitely not one to miss.

As soon as I saw the cover of this book, I knew I wanted to read it. I don't read much sci-fi, but I enjoy YA books with interesting premises. Yes, I know. It's a plot that's been used before but the setting was unique and I love stories where the main characters do not like each other and circumstances throw them together and force them to see past their differences.
I liked both Tarver and Lilac and the build-up of their romance. The ending was so unexpected though and I still don't know how I feel about it. There was never a boring moment and I wished the second book was available to read right after I finished this one.

Sorry, could not get to reading this book on time - thank you for the opportunity to review!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
"These Broken Stars" tells the story of the spaceship, Icarus. People aboard the Icarus are enjoying a night of music and dancing when all of a sudden the ship starts to have issues. Lilac, a rich socialite, is next to Tarver, a war hero, when the ship is having issues. Together Lilac and Tarver get into a escape pod and end up landing on a planet that has no people. Over the course of the book these two opposites must find a way to survive.
"These Broken Stars" ended up being a pretty good book, but the first half of the book was repetitive. Find food, walk, find shelter, sleep, and repeat. This along with the two main characters getting on each other nerves made the first half of the book difficult to read. Right around the middle part of the book it started to get really good. I won't say more since it will give away spoilers, but because of this plot twist I was unable to put the book down. I would still recommend reading the book, I would just say give it a chance. I think since I know that this book turned out good that I will plan to read the rest of the series.

Finally I have gotten round to reading this beauty of a book.
I started this book a couple of years ago and I put it down as I got overwhelmed by so many books.
After enjoying the first 60 pages at the time, I made it my mission to complete the book this year. And let me tell you: I'm definitely kicking myself now for not reading it any sooner.
When I first was looking at this book it was pitched to me as " Titanic in space " and I can certainly understand where they got that from.
I really enjoy books about survival and secrets and mystery. It always gets me hooked!
This is about 2 people and the ship they're on crashes, so they get to an escape pod and it crash lands on a planet.
These two have to search the island for the shipwreck and see if there's any survivors and then try to survive whilst finding a way to send off a signal to other to come rescue them. However the planet isn't what it seems and Lilac keeps hearing voices and seeing people. Can these two work together to crack the mystery and get to safety? You'll have to find out for yourselves! Yes I'm mean aren't I? But then I want you guys to enjoy the book too!
As if the cover isn't enough, how else can I sell this book to you? it's told in alternate chapters and has a glad forward from an interview with Tarver.
I can't wait to see what's going to happen in the sequel!

*I never got around to reading and reviewing this book. I may do so in the future*
