"Wild Scottish Rose" by Tricia O'Malley is a captivating addition to the Enchanted Highlands series. Narrated by Amy Landon and Will Watt, this audiobook beautifully immerses you in a world of romance and magic, making it a delightful experience for fans of the genre.

While the story is engaging and well-paced, it’s helpful to have read the previous books in the series to fully appreciate the character dynamics and backstory. O'Malley does a great job of weaving in familiar elements, but some nuances may be lost on new listeners.

Landon and Watt’s dual narration adds depth and richness to the characters, enhancing the emotional stakes of the story. Their performances complement the enchanting setting and vivid descriptions, drawing you into the heart of the Highlands.

I’d rate this audiobook 3.5 out of 5 stars. It’s a charming continuation of the series that fans will enjoy, though it may be best appreciated with the context of earlier installments. Thank you to NetGalley for my copy; all opinions are my own!

The fourth book in the Enchanted Highlands series, Wild Scottish Rose was so good!

I listened to the audio format which was narrated by Amy Landon and Will Watt, which did a great dual performance, and I loved the Scottish accents.

*many thanks to Netgalley and publisher for the gifted ALC for review.

I could not finish this book. The audio was not engaging enough, and I wished I had the eBook as well to follow along. The story I am sure was fun enough, the audio was just not for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the Scottish myths that were incorporated into this romance novel. I loved how cozy it made the book and brought so much to the story. The narrator’s accent was so wonderful and made the listening experience so great. This was just such a cozy and sweet romance with touches of the supernatural and magic.

Since this is the fourth book in the series and I haven't read the previous ones, I don't know the background story, but as much as there are hints of the previous one in this book, I guess the girls around here (related girls) are somehow connected to something ancient and because their ancestors are at the end of their earthly journey, now the new girls have to take on the roles.
As you can guess, Shona's powers are related to plants and growing. And then who else could be the garden witch's sidekick if not a gnome :), and not just a gnome, but a very nosy gnome who trains an army of hedgehogs who rush to the garden witch's aid if needed :). The comic side of the book comes from the relationship between the gnome, the hedgehogs and Shona.
But it wouldn't be a love story if it weren't for Owen, an extremely curious and outshining and sexy man. There's some story about this lake and the island on the lake, and Owen can't help but start investigating, even though he's told to stay away, don't poke where you don't need to poke, but Owen beats his furry chest and...

And so it is that Shona, the florist, who rents out the cottage, and Owen, the wedding guest and the renter, get along just fine and could have a golden future ahead of them. But Shona, the garden witch and keeper of the secret, and Owen, the documentarian, shouldn't even get close to each other. Or…

Sometimes seriously annoying, sometimes humorous, seldom sexy, and overall a sweet story about love and magic.

3.5 and only rounding up to 4 because of the gnomes.
The most enjoyable parts of this book were the gnomes and the magic. I liked the town, I liked the side characters, and I liked the plot. What I didn't like is the MMC. I do not know how this woman fell in love with this man and continued to be with him. He is super entitled and completely selfish. He apologized for his behavior once and then proceeded to act the same. I can't get over it. I don't think he redeemed his behavior at all. If he had it probably would've made up for it, but he didn't, so I don't like him.

A maybe-spoiler-y explanation of his shit behavior: FMC is part of a secret magic society that is protecting some ancient artifact on the island in the middle of the lake, there are kelpies in the lake and they will attack if you get close to the island, MMC is a movie producer or something like that and is obsessed with finding out and exposing the town's secrets, FMC asked him not to pry about the town/make a movie about it and to stop obsessing over the lake because it was dangerous and detrimental to keeping the secret.

Anyways, thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Select | Lovewrite Publishing for the ALC! ♥

Wild Scottish Rose by Tricia O'Malley book #4 in The Enchanted Highlands series. It can be read as a standalone, but I think you'll be so enchanted by O'Malley's whimsical writing that you'll want to go to the backlist and meet all her characters! Like the others in the series, this instalment includes some urban fantasy, sweet and spicy romance and lots of witty banter. If you're looking for a read that will whisk you away to a small town, cozy cottage set in Scotland.. add this to your TBR!

Narration was wonderful, Amy Landon and Will Watt bring the story to life, very entertaining.

Thank you to Dreamscape Select, Lovewrite Publishing and Netgalley for this ALC!

Wild Scottish Rose is book 4 in The Enchanted Highlands series. The story follows Shona, as she learns she is a garden witch and the next one to be added into the secretive Order of Caledonia.
As she starts to embrace her magic she rents out a cottage on her property to Owen, an American filmmaker curious about Loren Brae’s secrets and mysteries more specifically Kelpies.

I loved everything about this book. The fact it was set in Scotland was a highlight for me.
Shona and Owen were wonderful characters and I loved seeing their blossoming relationship which felt natural and had me rooting for these two.

They were supported by an interesting cast of secondary characters, which included kelpies, unicorn, hedgehog army and a ghost coo. I absolutely adored Shona familiar Gnorman the gnome and Eugene the hedgehog was my favorite

The story was highly entertaining, making me laugh and it also had me swooning, and I also loved the magic and whimsy attached to the tale. It was a charming, low angst read with wonderful banter and I would highly recommend it.

🎧 I listened to an audiobook version of this story, narrated by Amy Landon and Will Watt. They were both fantastic and brought the story to life. Their voices were clear and understandable and I loved the Scottish accent used. Their performance was an entertaining one and it was a pleasure listening to them narrate this novel.

In this part of the enchanted highlands series we meet Shona a whimsical gardener, and Owen a filmmaker coming to town to investigate an accident a friend of his had on the local loch.
We get to revisit some of our favorite characters from the previous books (my personal favorite is Clyde the ghostly highland coo) and we follow the order of Caledonia becoming one member closer to saving the village.

Shona is a very likable and relatable main character. I love that she listens to true-crime podcasts and does not take herself too seriously. She shows that you do not need to be book smart to lead a happy and successful life (I kind of envy her lifestyle).

Owen is a bit too self-involved for my taste, not fully appreciating what consequences his filmmaking can have to the locals and Shona, but he redeems himself by the end of the book. His mother’s narcissistic tendencies and his own ways to cope with this were a very neat and realistic way to explain his personal character flaws.

The love story between the two was very nice to read about. Owen makes some swoon worth book boyfriend moves, however he came on so strong and suddenly that I was a bit worried he could be insincere at the beginning. I certainly wouldn’t have believed that he was genuinely interested, had I been Shona. While I totally bought their attraction, the relationship also moved quite fast, without gaining depth, especially taking into account that Owen is not local and does have to travel a lot to make a living.

As with the other books in the series, this book is full of cozy small town vibes and will make you fall in love with Scotland, the usual banter is of course included. In addition, Shona’s little cottage, the markets, talk of produce and sustainable gardening will bring in some additional coziness. Shona’s sidekick is a gnome called Gnorman (the g is silent). He trains a little army of hedgehogs, including little Eugene. Eugene does not perform up to Gnormans standards, so he is transferred to house services. If this does not convince you to pick up this (audio)book, I don’t know what will.

If you must, you can also read this book by itself without reading the other books in this series. The love story in itself is a standalone, but the story around Loren Brae and its magical whims is continuous. You might also be missing some context about the order of Caledonia if you haven’t at least read the first part of the series before reading this one.

By the fourth book in the series we already have a bit of a pattern here (one American one Scottish love interest, one that knows about the town secrets, one that doesn’t; insta love; quirky female; hunky male) and I am hoping that the author will break out of it for some future books. I mean, otherwise, half the town population will be Americans by the time the series is done. I also found some of the conversations, like Shona’s introduction to the Knighthood, to be a bit blunt and repetitive. By the fourth time around, this conversation gets a bit boring and I wish there was a way to skip it or to introduce the new members differently.

The narrators, especially Amy Landon, with her voice acting for the different characters, did an excellent job with this audiobook. The banter and the hilarity of the gnomes came across so well!

If you are looking for a small town love story, with cozy cottage, gardening vibes, a bit of banter and some magic, this is the (audio)book for you!

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for gifting me this ALC of the audiobook to review.

I absolutely loved this book! The story was very well written and I fell in love with the main characters. And the narrators added so much to the story!

Oh. My. Goodness. I loved Wild Scottish Rose! While I adored Shona and Owen, I especially loved Gnorman and Eugene.

I truly enjoyed the magical realism in this book - especially the hedgehog army and learning along with Shona about her magic. Not to mention small town Scotland.

Wild Scottish Rose is #4 in the Enchanted Highlands series, although I read this as a stand alone without a problem.

I have to add - the narrators, Amy Landon and Will Watt, were amazing. And ohhhh…the Scottish brogue!

Thank you to Dreamscape Media for the #gifted audiobook!

I love Shona’s secret powers and also secretly wish I had special floral and growing abilities. Owen proves himself as completely trustworthy though and she still doesn’t trust him. He’s so great and it takes her almost losing him to realize that.

Y’all, this Enchanted Highland series has my heart! Tricia O’Malley whisks me away to Scotland to fulfill my dreams every time I open one of her books.

Magick, Romance, Gnomes, Clyde the Ghost Coo, Hedgehogs, I mean, what more could you want? But Shona and Owen‘s story was one for the record books. I laughed out loud at these two multiple times. I absolutely love their story. It is so fun to see the characters from the previous books make appearances in this one.

I love this book and all the feels you get while reading it.

The narrators were incredible, somehow they make the book even better. They magically bring it to life and you feel as if you are apart of the story with them. I will listen to anything these two narrate.

This was such an incredible palette cleanser!

Enough mystery and intrigue to keep things interesting, with some fun magical characters. I read this book without having read the first two… so disappointing because I really enjoyed it and I love reading series in order.. nothing to do but go back and read 1 and 2.. also getting in on the preorder for book 4!

This book was a feel good easy read in a normal world where there is just a little bit of magic.

I absolutely love this series. It’s cozy and funny. This one was a little cheesy with all the gnome puns but they were so fun!

I liked the storyline for Shona. The gnomes and hedgies were such a wonderful addition. The surprise Clyde appearance always makes me happy! These stories are so easy to breeze through, great easy reads but one of my comfort series!

The audio was pretty good. I found the female narrator would drop her accent from time to time but it wasn’t too distracting for me. This was the first audio where the female was the Scottish one so it was a bit different narration wise
