This is part of a series, but I'm not sure how important it is to read the other books first. I didn't, and I was able to keep up pretty easily with this latest member of the "Order of Caldonia" and her love interest. I thought the story was engaging and fun. The dialogue was funny, if a bit cheesy at times. The romance was just as steamy as promised.

The audiobook narration was just OK. It was kind of clunky and stilted at times as the narrators switched between the Scottish and American accents, and sometimes when the male narrator was doing female voices he sounded like Mrs. Doubtfire. But overall I really enjoyed this book and would be interested in checking out the rest of the series if I get a chance.

I would rate this book 3.5. I listened to the audio version of this book and I found the male audio narrator slightly annoying, so that did impact my rating. The premise of this book is very cute. I really enjoyed the magical realism the most. The town of Loren Brae sounds like the most idyllic Scottish town of all time and I desperately want to visit. This is the first one of The Enchanted Highlands series I have read, and it did leave me wanting to read the precursors. I really enjoy the concept of stand alone stories that are all interrelated.

Highlights:
Magical Realism
Garden Witch
"Animal" Companions
Hollywood x Small Town

Favorite Quote: "I just love the allure of a rose opening to bloom. The softness of their petals hides the strength of their stems. Their thorns remind you to treat them with care, that the beauty they choose to give you comes at a price and must be protected."

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Select, and Tricia O'Malley for providing me a copy of this audiobook. My opinions are my own.

I was feeling good about this book in the beginning but things did start falling apart the further we went on. What better way to organize my thoughts than a pros cons list?

Pro:
-The banter between the main couple was cute (if a bit cringey at times)
-cute hedgehog
-narration is great I love a good Scottish accent

Con:
-really didn’t like Owen for most of the book. He was arrogant and really pushy
-insta love
-magic system not explored as much as I would have liked
-The gnomes freaked me out a bit ngl
-the conflict at the end was…odd: First of all Owen just blatantly disregarded Shona’s concerns but then got mad at her for doing exactly what he did ??? And I know it is a common thing in books for there to be this magic system that has to be kept a secret but then someone gets butthurt about not being let in on it. I have understandably never been in that situation but why get mad at someone for keeping a secret like that??? It always irks me in books when a character gets mad that the other didn’t tell them about their super secret magic, ITS A SECRET

Anyway Owen sort of redeems himself at the end but I had spent so much time disliking him it did little to fix his image in my head. 2.5 stars.

Unfortunately, This was a DNF for me. I could not move past the narrators fake accent and voice. The series sounds great however I also did not know this was book 4 in a series. I will not star rate this as it was a DNF but given the form doesnt allow me to submit with a star i have added 1

I think this would of been better read as a book which I will do from the start of the series.

A garden witch, a talking gnome named Gnorman, and a hedgehog! This book was a great cozy fantasy listen, but it dragged on a little longer than I would have liked. The female audiobook narrator had a Scottish accent that was fantastic!

Thank you NetGalley for an advanced listening copy in exchange for my honest review.

From the first time I heard the dulcet tones of the narrator, I knew I was going to have a good time listening to this book. When I listened more and more I found it hard to stop. I was excited to find out that that this was the fourth book in this series, which meant I could go back to the start and read all about when the magic happened!

What book gives you more? Romance, a sassy strong protagonist, magical flora, mystical creatures, a grumpy gnome and an army of hedgehogs! This has got it all and more. I found that I was laughing at the antics, especially the sass from Gnorman, in awe of the sightings of unicorns and 'Harry Coo's', Listening the the majestic settings of Scotland and smiling at the blossoming romance.

The writing flowed well and I really loved the community feel of Loren Brae. The market scene being one of my fave's along with any scene with Gnorman (the G is silent!!) or Eugene.

Unfortunately, one of the characters that I didn't like was the male lead. I found Owen cocky, arrogant and rude. To be that rude to a doctor at the start and then almost every chapter calling him 'charming'? No. He doesn't do it for me at all. I would have preferred Shona to be infatuated with someone more kind and humble, even though I do realise that his character flaws are a major part of the story line.

Overall, I was a fan and I do look forward to going back to read the first 3 books of the series. Gorgeous cover art and great narrators.

Thanks to Netgalley, the author and publishers for an advanced copy for me to give my honest review.

What a sweet story! I haven’t read the others in this series, but I was able to jump right in to Shona’s story without any problems. This story is fast-paced and precious, full of magic and spice. Recommended for anyone who loves Scotland or Scottish lore, hedgehogs, and romance. Male narrator wasn’t my favorite, but I got used to him quickly!

I loved the weaving of Scottish myth and legend into this story. That was most definitely my favorite part. Unfortunately, I had a hard time connecting with the characters. The pacing felt very off, at times very very slow and at others very fast. I think I might have enjoyed it more if I had started with the first in the series. However, a fun read for those interested in the myths and legends of bonnie Scotland.

This was pretty adorable. But I'm a sucker for Scotland, so a little biased. I enjoyed the narrator, especially the male narrator when he did the FMC voice and accent. This had everything you want in a fun fantastical romance, including GNOMES. Seriously the gnomes were so cute, especially the addition of Gnora. I didnt realize it was part of a series prior to reading and am definitely going to check out the other books asap.

Shona Scott has an expert green thumb. So expert that when she is informed by her friends that she is a Garden Witch with magical plant growing abilities who belongs to an ancient magical guild tasked with the responsibilities to protect Scotland's mythical secrets, its not too much of a surprise. While she is in the midsts of exploring her new abilities, a handsome and inquisitive american movie director called Owen moves into Shona's guest house. Romance heats up between the two and Shona is forced to decide between her heart and her homeland.

This book includes:
- ancient magic guilds
- atmospheric Scottish small town (including Lochs and Coos)
- kelpies, brownies, gnomes, and other mythical creatures
- charming MMC and homely FMC
- quirky magic sidekicks

This is a fun romcom that meshes contemporary romance with some playful, whimsical creatures. Shona and Owen have a cute dynamic and I liked the concept of an ancient magical guild that protects Scotland's mythical secrets. I wish we would have gotten a bit more of an exploration/explanation of what was on the magic island beyond "magic stone" because I feel like it would have helped me really get invested in Shona's journey. I also struggled with the constant puns; for some reason, Owen's vibe in general made me cringe, which probably got in the way of me enjoying the romance as much as I could have. That said, if you are a fan of silly sidekicks, you'll have lots of laughs while reading this one.

I listened to the audiobook version of this book and I did find the American "southern accent" to be so poor that it is boarded on being unintelligible. Still, I did like the narrator who voiced Shona to match her character so expertly otherwise.

I received this audiobook as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley, Tricia O'Malley, and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to review this book. This review has been posted to GoodReads - check out my profile https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/62314863

Sweet and magical. This is the fourth book in the series but you can read it alone. I’m tempted to listen to the others in the series. This is a good medium-fast paced book/audiobook. More spicy than I was expecting but swoon worthy. Good chemistry and banter.
Quick plot: Scottish business woman/ gardener meets a handsome American film producer while he investigates a local myth in her small hometown in Scotland.
I enjoyed the dash of magic. The FMC had a surprising favourite hobby. I also love hedgehogs so another win. Also… Garden puns. Love a good pun.
The descriptions of the scenery and gardens was lovely. I really want to go to Scotland.
I was enchanted by the two narrators. The accents were dreamy.

Wild Scottish Rose by Tricia O'Malley was almost a DNF for me because it just didn't feel like anything was really happening, but by the time I realized it, I was far enough in I decided to finish it.

Shona loves gardening and tending to her plants, but she doesn't love dealing with stressed out brides--so she decides she won't be arranging flowers for weddings any more. Instead, she's going to pour more time and energy into her gardens and rent out the small cottage to help supplement her income. Her very first guest is Owen, a man she had met briefly at the last wedding she helped with. He's staying in the area to research unusual activities at a nearby loch, after his best friend is injured under suspicious circumstances. The "suspicious circumstances"? Actual kelpies--water horses--guard a sacred artifact on an island in the middle of the loch, and his friend got a little too close, triggering their defensive behavior. But if the locals have anything to say about it, Owen will never learn the truth--much less make a documentary about it. Oh, and Shona has just discovered she's a garden witch, and her familiar is a gnome named Gnorman (the g is silent).

The romance was pretty insta-love-y, the supernatural elements were eclectic, bordering on bizarre, and the pacing was odd. By the final third of the book, I was slightly more invested in the story, and I'm glad I finished it--but would I have picked it up if I'd known what I know now? Probably not.

Thank you to Dreamscape media for letting me take a chance on this audiobook. The production of the audiobook itself was very well done, and I liked both the male and female narrators. It was the story itself that failed to really hook me.

✨RATING: 5⭐️

✨REVIEW: Thank you @netgalley for my eARC in exchange for my review. This story is technically a continuation of “The Enchanted Highland Series” so I was nervous it wouldn’t make sense and I would have to back and read the others before following. However, it was not the case with this one! Wild Scottish Rose was captivating from the beginning and I never felt like I “needed” the others, until the end because I loved it so much 😝 Shona works as a wedding florist and airbnb host when she takes on a long term airbnb guest, not realizing her life was about to be flipped. Her garden gnome begins talking to her and that’s when she learns the truth about protecting Loren Brae. Tricia O’Malley created a beautiful and whimsical place within Loren Brae. Not only do I want to read the others in the series but I also want to visit there if I could! It may or may not be on my fantasy bucket list now to meet Gnorman the gnome 🤩
This audiobook has two narrators, one with a Scottish accent bringing authenticy. Having a Scottish heritage and being around that, I had no problem continuing to listen at my normal speed, however, I could see how someone may want to slow it down or read a physical copy if they’re not used to it.

✨PROS: short chapters, dual POV, gnomes - duh! Set in Scotland 🥰💗

The perfect Scottish book with a touch of magic and witchy vibes. I listened to this out of order but enjoyed it so much I’ll be going back and listening to the others.

I absolutely love all of the cozy this series has. It’s a perfect break from heavy fantasy.
Both narrators have a wonderful warmth to their voices that flows well with the story!
I can’t wait for the next one to come out!

Wild Scottish Rose, by Tricia O’Malley, is the fourth book in the Enchanted Highlands series. Shona Scott returned to Loren Brae when her dear granny passed away and has taken over her home and gardens, creating a fruitful garden with both food and flowers. Having done a stint in floristry with weddings, Shona has decided she would rather focus on growing for her hometown farmers market than deal with bridezillas. So once she has restored the cottage on the edge of her property is finished and up on a rental site she calls it a day on the wedding business.

Little did Shona expect that the handsome brother of the last nightmare bride she dealt with will become her first tenant. Documentary filmmaker Owen Williams, who had been kind to Shona when his sister was anything but, booked the cottage for a month within hours of it going live. He is traveling to Loren Brae after his best friend suffers an accident on Loch Mirren at the hands of some sort of water monster called Kelpies. When his friend asks Owen to investigate, he is all too happy to do so. But he also wants to investigate his beautiful landlady.

Shona, while taking on new work and a different business path, is also making discoveries about who her Gran actually was and how that role will fall to her. As Shona strives to protect the secrets of Loren Brae and Owen seeks to uncover them, the attraction they share is undeniable.

Navigating all these things makes for another delightful story in this magickal series. I very much enjoyed this book, as I have with the complete series, and I do recommend it!

Tropes:
Fantasy
Scottish garden witch (recently discovered her magic) and handsome American filmmaker staying in her rental property looking to uncover the “secrets” of her town
He falls first
Hilarious banter

This would have been a 4⭐️ but I was expecting more of a conflict with the Kelpies. It was kind of anti-climactic.

Book 4.

I think it’s safe to say that I’m beginning to become obsessed with this series.

What’s not to love?

-Gender swapped Arthurian legends
- Knights and witches
- Hilarious talking familiars
- Unique magic rituals
- The Scottish highlands
- Kilts (plus a tiny fercious chihuahua in a kilt)
- and a pranking ghost coo (cow) named Clyde

Amy Landon and Will Watt (the narrators) really make these books come alive and I’m so glad I picked up this series last year.

These books just keep getting better and I can’t wait to listen to the rest of the series.

Special thanks to @dreamscape_media for the ALC.
