Did not finish book. Stopped at 57%.

ALC expired before I could finish. It was an okay book up to this point. I would have finished it, but it didn't grab my attention like other books of this author's.

The plotline was well written and easy to understand. The characters are wonderful and each was given sufficient scope to contribute to the plotline. The writing and the narration of the author is something I adore the most and that too in Audiobook was a cherry on the cake. I had a great time reading this.

Tricia O'Malley is a prolific, popular author, but WILD SCOTTISH ROSE was my introduction to her work. Here’s my summary: her book was fun, a bit preposterous, sexy, and picturesque. Local Shona Scott learns she is a garden witch tasked with keeping confidences at the same time American filmmaker Owen Williams becomes intrigued by the idea of a monster or monsters (similar to Nessie) inhabiting the nearby loch. Shenanigans ensue as the two fall in love while believing there’s no hope for their misaligned relationship. With the help of a cantankerous garden gnome, a determined hedgehog, and a cast of characters from earlier novels, there just might be (spoiler alert!!) a happy ending for all. If one is looking for a fun, light romance, this book checks all the right boxes. The narration for the audiobook was nicely done, with both the Scottish and American accents sounding credible.

Really really enjoyed this one. Was 3/4 of the way through when I realised it’s part of a series, so I’ll need to go back and listen to the rest.

I loved the bits of Scottish culture woven through the every aspect of the story, and the perfect blend of magic and mundanity. It was steamy, snarky and a little bit thrilling at times. So excited to read the backlog!

The FMC narrator was fantastic, keeping a cadence that is true to what I hope for from Scottish characters. Wasn’t a fan of the MMC, sometimes the inflection or pronunciation of his American accent really threw me and I’d have to go back again to listen.

I very much enjoyed this audiobook, it’s very well done and there were a few laugh out loud moments.

I do recommend .

I typically love Tricia O’Malley books. Wild Scottish Rose missed the mark. Talking Gnome statues, Hedgehog Armies, Witches, Lake monsters….. it’s just too much. I had to force myself to finish the story. I was easily bored by the outlandish world the characters were in. The story felt thrown together, different ideas that didn't blend well together..
The love interest and the chance encounters with the magic was numerous and I couldn’t wait to see if he discovered the garden witches secret.

While rare for me, this is one of those books I think I’ll prefer the physical read to the audiobook.

In a read like this—where there is so much going on in the storyline itself (part traditional romance novel, part surprise magical fantasy)—I look to the narration to be a grounding in some way. But, in Wild Irish Rose, I found the delivery to be kind of feverish – all excitable energy and climbing drama, without the grounding piece that makes a reader pause to really listen. For this reason, it was difficult to stay engaged. Lots of rewinding for me - and ultimately, I was not able to finish this one.

In some ways, I think the MMC narrator is “grounding” – but there was such a jarring contrast in the delivery between the two narrators—not necessarily owing to the distinct accents, but rather to the intonation, urgency of the reading, energy levels…and well, the overall speed of each narrator’s read was night and day. This dynamic is not ideal for the listener, in particular.

Overall, this seems like a great story that will find its audience. Just wasn't for me this time.

I’d like to thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for the ALC copy of this audiobook.

This series gets better and better. This book focuses on Shona she is the next member of the Order and she’s a garden Witch. Watching her blossom into what she is meant to be was fantastic (pun intended). Owen is on town to discover some it’s secrets what he doesn’t realize is how deep the women who has caught his eye is involved. Owen and Shana’s story just made me happy. Add in some talking garden gnomes (I LOVE GNOMES) and cute hedgehogs and you have a great story.

This book was very cute. This was a standalone book that is part of a series. I have only read this one and understood the book just fine, however I do think the book would have been better if I had read the others first. The characters were well developed and I enjoyed watching them grow. It was very much an insta love type of plot, which I tend to like in a book. The magic and mythology was so fun to read about and I loved seeing the FMC learn more about herself. I listened to this as an audiobook and absolutely loved the female narrator and think she did an impeccable job. I think the male narrator also did a good job, though he did sound remarkable like Kronk from Emperor's New Groove, which did often distract me. Overall I think this was a very fun read.

This is just the most adorable little swoony romance full of witty banter and amazingly sweet moments. I am obsessed from the first page and love everything Tricia writes.

3.75 ⭐️ Oh, to be a Scottish Garden Fairy!

This audiobook was so cute. I did read book #3 of The Enchanted Highlands Series as well, so it's not like I'm absolutely out of the loop... but the fact that real magical things are going on in this world is such a shock every time!

I just never expected it. I don't think they give enough importance in the blurb of the book to the fact that this is a fantasy book, even if it's set in Scotland and it's about a Wedding Florist / Gardener who falls in love with the big-shot Hollywood director who comes to stay in her holiday rental.

It sounds like your run-of-the-mill small-town rom-com! And then it's so shocking to see the ghosty coo or the FMC just bibbidi-bobbidi in her greenhouse. Don't get me wrong, I did genuinely like this book, probably even more than the last book I read in the series. I love audiobooks where the narrators do all the appropriate accents. It heightens the overall experience immensely.

🌶🌶.5 / 5 - Not super intense, but definitely some good stuff! There was so much chemistry between the MCs. I loved them!

5/5⭐️ 2.5/5🌶️

This was COZY! This was cute, comfy, magical, spicy, and so much more! I listened to the audiobook and the accents…I have melted to a puddle!! I loved the characters and the little side characters were adorable! This was so incredibly magical. Like the most beautiful fairytale! I will be listening to the other three since this is book 3 in the series but it can be read as a standalone.

Thank you netgalley and Tricia O’Malley for the eARC!

This is the fourth novel in Tricia O'Malley’s The Enchanted Highlands series of paranormal romantic comedy, but it can be enjoyed on its own. The series is set in the small Scottish village of Loren Brae, home to likable humans and mythological creatures. I enjoyed the somewhat slow-burn yet steamy romance between fledging garden witch Shona and filmmaker Owen, and I was enchanted with the comedic elements, including frequent gardening puns, cantankerous gnomes, and the most adorable hedgehog ever.

The audiobook production was excellent, and I really enjoyed the duel narration by Amy Landon for Shona’s point of view and Will Watt for Owen’s point of view. Both narrators have pleasant voices, good pacing, great accents, and are able to convey humor and emotion effectively. I highly recommend the audiobook for those who enjoy humorous paranormal romances.

I received a free copy of the audiobook through NetGalley. I volunteered to provide an honest review.

🥰Enjoyment: I DID enjoy the story quite a bit actually, I did not love the audio. I imagine casting for this audiobook was tricky as it was dual (not duet) narrated and the characters were American MMC, Scottish FMC and a mix of side characters from both nations. The result was the casting of two narrators that I believe were both from the UK (don’t quote me on this). The Male narrator, despite reading primarily an American Accent sounded Scottish through and through and it resulted in the strangest accent. The Female narrator, did a bit of a better job masking any accent when reading an American Character, but honestly I just didn’t love the cadence she gave the MMC when reading his lines.

🎭Mood Reader Classification: Ultimately I would recommend to skip the audio on this one unless accents just don’t bother you at all. I’m looking forward to reading (probably with my eyeballs) more from this magical little village.

This review is for the audiobook version of this book. Thank you to NetGalley and Tricia O’Malley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. The plot I enjoyed for the most part. The magic development I loved. The FMC I adored. The quirky side characters were great. Listening to the audiobook made it extremely hard because the male narrator was so bad in my opinion. He sounded like a used car salesman and gave me the ick. It made me feel the ick in all of Owen’s chapters. It clouded my opinion of the plot because his voice made me feel that the MMC was shallow in his character and I am struggling to separate that from the actual words that were said. I will read more of these series but switch to the books and not the audiobooks.

The narrators, Amy Landon & Will Watt, did a great job narrating the cast of this audiobook. They kept the story flowing & engaging and the Scottish accents were a delight!

This is the fourth book in The Enchanted Highlands series. It can be read as a standalone but I do recommend reading the other three first.

After deciding to switch gears in her career, florist Shona quits the wedding industry & focuses on gardening and renting out a part of her property as an Air BnB. Her first tenant, Owen books her cottage for a month to film a documentary about the magical island.

There is forced proximity, he falls first, magical elements & witchy vibes. Overall, I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for the arc of this book.

This book is set in the small town of Loren Brae in the Scottish highlands, and it is full of magic, myths, pet hedgehogs, talking garden gnomes and an adorable hairy coo ghost. Shona is a gardener, who renovates a small cottage on her property to be a holiday rental. Her first guest is Owen, an American documentary film maker, who was in Scotland for a wedding but is staying to investigate myths come to life. Myths the entire town wants to protect from outsiders.

Shona is so awkward, clumsy and reluctant, but Owen is so into her from the very first moment. I love their chemistry, the tension, and the hilariously dorky garden puns that they trade back and forth. I really enjoyed the plot. The setting was stunning. But the absolute star of the show was the grumpy, tattooed, garden gnome, Gnorman (the G is silent 😂).

I listened to this book and the narrators, Amy Landon and Will Watt did an amazing job. They both jumped back and forth between Scottish and American accents so fluidly. It really brought the story to life!

I absolutely adore this series, and Wild Scottish Rose was a great addition. Shona and Owen had such a sweet and satisfying love story, amongst the motley crew of past characters. I loved the continued use of the Order and magick, as I feel it brings something a unique to the storyline. We also saw the reappearance of Clyde the ghost coo, who is a favorite side character. This book saw the addition of a tattooed, surly garden gnome and an army of hedgehogs.

As with the rest of the series, Will Watt and Amy Landon absolutely knock it out of the park. I loved the accent swap in this book, with Will using an American accent and Amy using a Scottish accent (which she did brilliantly!).

Wild Scottish Rose is fun, whimsical, hilarious, sweet, and a little steamy. It is absolutely one that I would recommend to romance lovers!

Wild Scottish Rose is the 4th book in The Enchanted Highlands series. I read it as a stand alone, but still was able to become invested in the world and the characters. After having enough with the high stress of the wedding industry, florist Shona decides she wants to focus her gardening skills on smaller events that aren't as micromanaged like weddings and rent out her extra property.
Living in the Highlands for her whole life, Shona is surprised when suddenly her garden gnome starts talking to her and everything seems to have a little extra magic in it, especially when a tourist ends up capsizing his boat just outside of the towns hidden island.
When Shona gets her first tenant for a whole month, she is overwhelmed and feels unprepared, especially when she sees then tenant is a man around her age named Owen who is set on exploring the magic on the island through a new film documentary.
Owen is a filmmaker taking time off to find inspiration before going to work on his next film. When his good friend capsizes his boat, something odd is happening and Owen wants to be the one to find out about it and share it with the world.
I quite enjoyed this book. It had a wide range of characters and a lot of interesting side plots that only added to Shona and Owen's main story. I would recommend this book for anyone looking to read about the real world with a hit of organized magic and a good slowish burn romance.

When I saw the premise for Wild Scottish Rose I was hooked. Magic, folklore and it’s set in Scotland?! Sign me up.

The fourth book in Tricia O’Malley’s Enchanted Highlands series, Wild Scottish Rose finds gardener Shona discovering her magic and the secrets of Loren Brae.

Overall, I liked this one. It was a bit like a fever dream with so much going on - magical discoveries, evil selkies, and a very grumpy and opinionated garden gnome. I loved how Tricia intertwined Scottish folklore with fantasy and how she captured the way people in a small town take care of each other. I really wanted to like Owen, the MMC, but unfortunately just found him bossy and overbearing. When Shona would try to say no about something (non-sexual) he would just steamroll right through. He did have sweet moments though.

I thought the audio was great. If you do decide to read this one I highly recommend checking the audio out! Amy Landon and Will Watt did a fabulous job - I could listen to Will’s brogue forever!

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Select, Lovewrite Publishing and Tricia O’Malley for an early copy. These are my honest thoughts.
