A garden witch and a movie producer
Oh, how I adore the Enchanted Highland series! Loren Brae has a piece of my heart. I love Shona and Owen's story.
I like meeting up with characters from last books. I like the Kelpies but am also terrified of them.
Gnorman and Eugene are the best. I love the challenges that earn Shona her place in the Order.
Give this series a go, but definitely read them in order.
I listened to the audiobook. I like the narrator and love the story.
Thank you Netgalley, Dreamscape Select, and Lovewrite Publishing for this ALC!
- I enjoyed the first two and wasn't a fan of the third, so I was really hoping this would redeem the series. Unfortunately, I struggled with this one.
- The whole very hot guy sees the beauty no one else has seen before feels repetitive at this point in the series.
- At one point early on, the MMC is pretty rude to a nurse at the hospital, which was offputting. He then later tells the FMC to shut up, which is meant to come off as playful but it really didn't. His backstory tries to explain some of his personality, but I really did not like him.
- Why is Agnes in this story so much, but Sophie and Lia are barely in it at all?
- I find the Order the most interesting part of this series, but it's not enough to balance out my issues with the romance.
- The narrators read at very different speeds, which made listening to the audio tricky. Every time the narrators switched, I had to adjust my listening speed, which took me out of the story.
Loved this title! Even the fanciful elements were so beautifully woven in that it didn't seem like such a stretch to believe them! I'd love to have a Gnorman - and yes, I'd call him G too! The accents were wonderful and I had to slow down the listening speed to understand clearly. It was a great read and I look forward to more in this series
I love this cute little read . Any time a book is set in Scotland I just want to read it !! This was a sexy romance packed book . I didn’t realize it was the fourth book in the series so at times I felt I was missing something.
This book had some potential. Shona is coming into her magic, she has inherited a duty to protect the holy grail from destroying the world, and she has a grumpy garden gnome as a familiar.
Owen Williams is a straight up d bag, as far as I can tell. Everything about his character drove me insane. Especially his constant refrain of "Shona has no idea how beautiful she is." The romance in this book was a huge miss for me. They basically had three conversations, one sex scene, and then they were in love.
The book was really disjointed. It could have been really cool with the magical elements tying into everything, but we didn't get a lot of history about it, or really a lot of details or anything. The bulk of the book was about Owen trying to figure out the secret of Loch Mirren and Shona trying to keep him from finding it while also wondering why she was keeping it from him.
And did I mention every chapter from Owen's point of view made me want to strangle him?
I didn't read the others in this series, and it's definitely not necessary to follow the plot. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this as a romance or a fantasy book. I appreciate the opportunity to review the ARC.
I received an audiobook ARC from Netgally. I hadn't read this book previously, but the audiobook compelled me to get the ebook as well. This spicy paranormal romcom is brilliantly narrated by Amy Landon and Will Watt. It was easy to follow and matched the flow of the story. The plot is funny and intriguing as hell, with witches, mythology and new found love. Pick up this book or Audiobook if you love

A magical romance complete with giggles! You just can’t help the giggles and grins throughout this story. Owen & Shonna are a wonderful delight with some bumps along the way, but what else should you expect when you factor in the magic of romance. Like most magic, it doesn't make itself known until a person is ready to accept it. Shonna battle the decisions of what to reveal as her new relationship grows. I especially loved the banter and sass throughout, whether between Shonna & Owen or the ever charming G’nome, G’Norman! Then add in a delicious amount of laughter from never-ending garden puns and I was lost in giggles. The Enchanted Highlands is full of such charismatic, charming characters that create a world you just want to dive into. With each new magical introduction you cant help but wonder what could possibly be next, and then your giggling at an adorable new character. From kitchen helping Brownies and ghost coo’s to the fantastic gnomes and hedgehog armies, you never know what will appear next. I can’t wait for more stories in this magical, mystical Scotland of my dreams. If you’re in a reading slump, don't throw in the trowel, pick this one up. You won’t regret it!
I listened to the audiobook and the performance of Amy Landon with her lovely Scottish lilt and the ever smooth voice of Will M. Watt made this such a soothing listen. They really draw you in to the story and do a wonderful job with the mish-mash of side voices as well.
Another great book to add to the series! As always the storyline, the lores, and the magick were great along with some good laughs too. As much as I did enjoy this book I did struggle a tad bit with the narrator as Scottish accents aren’t a personal favorite of mine.
4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️.5 🎧
This is book 4 in this series, and it's my favourite! I loved each book for different reasons, but this one really just got me in the feels. It was also witty and whimsical, with that hint of vulnerability.
Shona is coming into her power, and she is learning along the way. She gets a little help from her garden Gnome, but Norman the G is silent. I am giggling as I type that.
Norman, aka G, gets the hedgehogs involved, and they create a hedgehog army to keep the critters away. It's all very magical, whimsy, and a little silly, but in the best of ways.
Own is in Scotland for a wedding and happens to be there when his best friend has a terrible water accident. His friend asks him to look into the myths surrounding the Loch.
The met cute was adorable and fun. Their connection sparks from the pages. They are learning about one another but also about themselves. Their love story just blooms so sweetly.
I adored the narration. Amy and Will do an incredible job giving this book that extra touch of magic. I highly recommend it.
Can we say cute & magical love story!!
Amy and Will did a great job narrating this book. I loved that this was a dual narration format. I was really enjoying Amy's Scottish accent. For Will's parts there were a few times when it seemed like his American, slightly southern accent, may have changed, but overall, it was a very enjoyable experience.
This is the 4th book in the Enchanted Highlands series. They are all standalones that all interconnects. The only other book of this series I've read was. A Kilt for Christmas (3rd book), and I feel like I understood and followed along without knowing much.
The story is about Shona Scott and Owen Williams.
Shona Scott is native to Scotland and lives in Loren Brae. She was raised on the grandma's farm and now inherited the farm. She has a special knack for anything that grows. She's a busy little bee with running multiple businesses. She has no time to date... let alone love..
Owen Williams is a man from the States. He is a well renowned filmmaker that was visiting Loren Brae for his sisters' wedding. He is Whitty, natural charmer, and good with his words. It doesn't help that is absolutely gorgeous.
They meet by a series of fortunate and unfortunate events and the magic starts. Shona not only has to juggle learning about magic but also has to reel in Owen and all his investigative work. All while managing her feelings for him. The entire story is exciting, fun and filled with magic. There is some steam and tension in this book. It's a bit on the lighter side and would rate 1.5 🌶.
There are really fun side characters in this one as well as puns!! Tons of gardening pun. I loved it!
This was a cute story. I do agree with others that while it could be read as a stand alone, I believe you’ll get more out of the story if you’ve read the previous books.
Lighthearted and fun, with magic, mythical creatures, and a little bit of steamy romance, this was a lovely story. The setting in Scotland was enchanting, and I really enjoyed the storyline. I think my favorite character was Eugene, the hedgehog. So cute! Unfortunately, the narrators of the audio version had some eccentricities to their voices that did not work for me. My advice would be to skip the audio and read the novel.
This is my first book by Tricia O’Malley and I can honestly say I will be on a binge of her backlog. This was such a fun listen. The characters were very likable. Gnorman (the G is silent) gnome was a hoot. The KitKat scene was my favorite. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud. The characters and story remind of Molly Harper’s Mystic Bayou series, which is my absolute favorite. I think this series will be another favorite.
I received an ARC of the audiobook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All options expressed are my own.
This may be my favorite book in this series! I love Loren Brae and Tricia O'Malley has such a fun, whimsical style of storytelling that brings the magic to life. The character growth was amazing and I loved the gnomes!
I listened to the audio version and the narrators, who have also done the previous books, were excellent and so fun to listen to.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for my ARC!
To be perfectly honest this book was so boring. The narrators tried their best. but i honestly struggled to finish it.

This was my first Tricia O'Malley but definitely won't be my last. Wild Scottish Rose was so fun and magical not to mention romantic and sweet. I adored Shona and her simple life and her love of the earth and her garden. It was lovely to see her figure out her magic and use it to help the people in her village that really needed it. Owen was okay, I felt he was a bit pushy with his constant focus on his documentary but I liked the way he treated Shona for the most part. The side characters really stole the show here though. Gnorman (yes I spelled that right lol) was so crotchety I died every time Shona got one over on him. And Eugene the hedgehog, omg how precious. I could clearly picture the movie Owen made with the help of Gnorman and Eugene at the end of the book and it was so adorable!
I felt the premise was interesting and fun and I aim to go back and start at the beginning of this series because these damn kelpies have apparently been around a long time and I need to know more of this lore! The pacing was good and I felt it wrapped up nicely at the end. The romance was sweet and heart melting with just a touch of spice. Overall a lovely magical romance novel!
I did listen to an ALC of this book and I don't really recommend reading it that way. The narrators just didn't do it for me. Amy Landon's Scottish accent sounded really nice to me, I don't have a gripe about that but she has always had a rhythm problem for me no matter what book I listen to of hers. And Will Watt is someone I usually adore listening to but he was using an American accent here and I just felt myself cringing sometimes while listening at his loudness. These two were just not a good fit for this book unfortunately.
Thank you so much to Dreamscape Select for providing me with an ALC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!
This was… honestly I wasn’t expecting this audiobook to be sooooo captivating but I couldn’t stop once I started!
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this audio.
Tricia has done it again!! What a great romcom! I couldn’t stop listening! I finished it in one sitting. I loved the characters the gnomes everyone. Such a great book.
What a sweet whimsical romance filled with adorable characters, small town charm, and magic!
I really enjoyed this book. Thank you, Netgalley, for the advanced audio copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I might have loved this book a bit more if I read the physical copy. The contrast between the thick Scottish accent to the American one was a bit hard to follow as I kept having to change the speed depending on the narrator. However, the accent did give the audio a more authentic feel!
This book is within a series but definitely can be read as a standalone, and it's so easy to fall in love with every character! If you love gardening, farmers' markets, easy love, and cute critters, this book is for you!!
Another great whimsical story in this series. I enjoy how much fun these books are and the romance is sweet too. I picked up this series originally because of the narration but I kept coming back for more because of the fantastical elements, side characters and the fun familiars! The story isn't too deep and it will just leave you smiling and lighthearted.
The narration as always is perfect! Both narrators were great casting choices.
