Cozy mystery/Pride and Prejudice mash up is 100% my jam. Loved that so many people asked for more of Lizzie and Darcy following their appearance in 'Pride and Premeditation' that Tizrah decided to write more books for them!

Would have loved a smidge more romance but the characters are spot on -- reads exactly how you would envision these two behaving if they were solicitors! A quick and engrossing read that left me eager for more!

Lizzie and Darcy take on another murder case and watch as things start to unravel around them. From sneaking around, problems at work, and lots of secrets being revealed, I thoroughly enjoyed spending more time with these characters and the original spin Tirzah Price added onto their story.
I loved the development of Lizzie and Darcy’s relationship, as well as the added storylines with new characters and connections that made the mystery even more enjoyable. From the start I was trying to guess who was involved and continued to be hooked until the very end when everything was revealed. I continue to recommend this series and Price’s stories.

It was this Lizzie—coy and clever, that he found absolutely irresistible.

This book has everything I love all in one place. A historical cozy mystery, a setting with many beloved Jane Austen characters making appearances(Emma, Elinor, Marianne) and Lizzie and Darcy as the main characters at the start of their relationship. I enjoyed and appreciated how capable and resourceful Lizzie was too. There are many sweet moments between the two too. (And seeing Elinor and Marianne in action was lovely.)

The mystery of the whodunit in this book is well done. There are no suspects at first, then too many to name! All the details and seeds planted by the author are important and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen.

There were many times I laughed out loud, especially when Lizzie’s mother was involved. Darcy and Lizzie are trying to sort out their feelings for each other and she just made things so comical.

I can’t wait to see what is in store for these characters next!

The audio narrators were fantastic. With Sam Devereaux’s Darcy, his voice and tone reminded me so much of Matthew McFadden, I was loving it. Morag Sims’ lovely tone was perfect for Lizzie.

I received a NetGalley approval for the eARC from the publisher. Huge thank you! I borrowed the audio on Libby. All views are my own.

I haven’t read Price’s other series but I have bought audios and I can’t wait to listen.

A cozy, quirky return to Jane Austen's world with some of my most beloved characters, Lizzie and Darcy.

Appearances from Emma and The Dashwood's is the icing on the cake.

This was a fast paced, mystery figuring out how the fire started and many brushes with death. I enjoyed it so much.

Highly recommend if you like cozy mystery with some laughs!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review.

Price has quickly become one of my favorite authors. In Want of a Suspect was such a fun read. I am eagerly anticipating more!

I really enjoyed this continuation of Lizzie's and Darcy's story. Price is so good at bringing Austen's characters to life in a new and vibrant setting. I really enjoy seeing them in this detective genre. Lizzie is so clever and quick-witted that I can easily believe she's a lawyer and solves crimes. I also like that there's more on-page time between her and Darcy and that their romantic attachment doesn't come at the cost of Lizzie's career.

The story is interesting - I found Price's decision to give Darcy an ex-fiancée an unique twist. The historical elements come through well and the story feels real and kept my interest throughout.

I definitely recommend this to fans of Price's previous books in this series. It's a nice addition and the mystery is well-thought out.

Lizzie Bennet, London's first female solicitor, finds herself constantly pulled into mysteries with fellow lawyer Fitzwilliam Darcy at her side. The pair typically investigates unusual circumstances, but they've been retained for their deadliest case yet. When Lizzie is hired to investigate a mysterious warehouse fire and locate the suspected arsonist, it leads the pair right into the sitting room of Darcy's ex-fiancée. Feelings abound as Lizzie and Darcy try to solve this fiery case before either of them get snuffed out.

I thoroughly enjoyed Tirzah Price's previous novel Pride & Premeditation, but found myself slogging through this one. I credit that not to the author's ability, but to my changing taste. When I first read Pride & Premeditation, I mostly read YA; now, I've added more adult fiction to my repertoire since learned about the closed door fiction community. While I enjoyed the Austen-packed world of In Want of a Suspect with tongue-in-cheek references and the reinvention of classic Austen characters, the mystery itself was not complicated enough to hold my attention.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Pride and Premeditation is one of my favorite Pride & Prejudice retellings of ever, so I was psyched to hear we were getting a sequel, and even more psyched to snag an ARC. Historically I've been disappointed by sequels to retellings that aren't retellings themselves, and I am so grateful that this wasn't the case with In Want of a Suspect. I loved getting to see the development of Lizzie and Darcy's relationship. (And getting Darcy's POV!) The mystery was in a sweet spot where I wasn't bored because I could predict everything but I also could figure out some of it, so I wasn't confused or frustrated.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.75

I feel that fans of Jane Austen will appreciate this retelling of some of her most beloved characters. I do think that this one showed a lot more of the relationship between Lizzie and Darcy. I loved all the tension and banter throughout the whole entire book, as well as the fact that they are solving a murder, but you can definitely tell that they have more of the romantic connection in this one. I had a good time reading this book. I would definitely read more from this author.

I am an absolute sucker for Jane Austen adjacent books, so I'm no stranger to Tirzah Price and her Jane Austen Murder Mystery series. I especially loved Pride and Premeditation and was delighted to find out solicitors Lizzie and Darcy were making further appearances in this new spin-off duology. In Want of a Suspect finds Lizzie and Darcy investigating arson at the warehouse of a former client. The plot involves crooked employers, love triangles, and mysterious women. I would have enjoyed more character development. It didn't seem like Darcy fit the traits we have come to know and love about the character in this new rendition. But overall, this was a fun, quick read and not super gruesome as far as murder mysteries go.

Placing our beloved and well known characters in a different environment is a scary prospect, but Price absolutely does right by Lizzie and Darcy. This reimagining of Pride and Prejudice gives us a whole new way to fall in love with Jane Austen’s work. I loved the London setting, the romantic dynamic, and the wonderful banter between our main characters.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy. These opinions are my own.

Lizzie and Darcy my beloved 💕

I was so excited to hear that we were getting more of this duo and this book didn’t disappoint! I loved being back in this universe - watching the flirting, the banter, and especially the crime solving!

The story itself was a bit slow paced for me at times but I loved the cameos of the Dashwood sisters and thr Emma sighting!! (Hopefully this means we’ll see more of her in this series!!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻) I especially liked Guy! A cute doggie is always a wise addition.

Can’t wait for more of this series!!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this earc in exchange for my honest review.

Tirzah Price is the author of the Jane Austen Mysteries, a YA series of standalone mystery retellings of Jane Austen’s beloved classics, by way of Agatha Christie. They can be read in any order, although the chronological order of the series is Pride and Premeditation, Sense and Second-Degree Murder, Manslaughter Park.

The Lizzie and Darcy Mysteries are a YA spin-off series, making In Want of a Suspect a direct sequel to Pride and Premeditation. Price recommends reading Pride and Premeditation first.

I agree.

Price does a great job of pulling readers in, but if you haven’t read its predecessor, In Want of a Suspect will have you asking lots of questions like: How did Lizzie become a solicitor? and Why is she so familiar with Darcy, who is also a solicitor?

At some point you just have to give in and enjoy the ride. Lizzie is a bright spark. Much of her character is in keeping with Jane Austen’s characterization. Lizzie is smart, strong and independent, but she also dreams of love. Darcy is less of an open book, but their banter is spot on.

Price strikes a nice balance between mystery and romance, making this an engaging read.

This book is seriously fun. I didn’t read the book that preceded it and it was still easy to follow and so enjoyable. It does ruin some plot points for book one— so read that first. But I’m looking forward to reading the first anyway..

This is an alternate universe with Jane Austen’s characters solving mysteries and murders and just generally getting up to lots of shenanigans. It’s fun, it feels comfortable and warm because you know the characters, but develops the story in such a way that lets you see them in a new light. Give it a read!

Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for this book! I really enjoyed reading another adventure of Lizzie and Darcy. This was just as fun as the others, and of course the end took me by surprise! The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the storyline with Henry—it felt a bit forced. But I’d absolutely recommend this book!

Pride and Prejudice gets a new twist in this story where Lizzie is London's first female solicitor and is determined to solve cases with Darcy, a fellow solicitor and her love. Lizzie wants nothing more than to solve cases and be respected for her talents, and despite the fact that she might be in love with Darcy she definitely does not want to marry him if he is being forced to be society or if it means she'll lose everything she's worked for. Yet when Lizzie finds herself in a new case she can't help but drag Darcy into it with her.... yet this new case has them facing a woman whom Darcy had previously proposed too and now he's slightly panicked over what his actual relationship with Lizzie is. Darcy is in love with Lizzie... but they haven't exactly talked about where their relationship was going and with this new potential wrench in their relationship and her slowly distancing herself.... on top of his new horrible workplace pressure, can Darcy find a way to sort out his own life and chase after the woman who has stolen his heart or will everything and everyone get in the way before he can finally tell Lizzie he loves her. This is the first book in a new duology series that is both Pride and Prejudice and murder mystery fun. As a huge fan of murder mysteries and of Pride and Prejudice, this was such a fun twist and a great read. It's a light hearted read and it's got fun moments all throughout the story. The romance is sweet and the characters are a great interpretation of Lizzie and Darcy in a new light. I would absolutely recommend this for fans of the classic!

“It was moments like this, when he was acting grave as he teased her, and when he showed more patience for her misadventures than any person ever had, even her beloved sister Jane, that Lizzie felt a swell of emotion bubble up inside of her. She let herself feel it, but not name it. Putting it into words felt risky somehow.”

A strong-willed lawyer at her father’s firm, the ever-ambitious Elizabeth Bennett is no stranger to a bit of adventure—but never before has she been recruited to solve a case so serious as arson. When a fire is started at the local warehouse, which happens to belong to one of Lizzie’s former clients, she teams up with her trusted friend and fellow solicitor: Fitzwilliam Darcy. Together, the two must find out who is responsible for the devastating fire that hurt her client and killed his brother. As Lizzie and Darcy are drawn into the case, secrets are revealed, relationships are thrown into question, and danger awaits the two at every turn. In a spin off from her Jane Austen Mysteries series, author Tirzah Price offers a refreshing and intriguing twist on a beloved classic.

As an avid fan of both Jane Austen and mysteries, I was incredibly excited about starting this novel, and for the most part, Price’s writing met my expectations. Readers unfamiliar with the Jane Austen Murder Mysteries series by Price might initially be surprised by the amicable dynamic between Lizzie and Darcy, an unexpected diversion from their traditional, originally animus relationship that defined the first 75% of Pride and Prejudice. Additionally, while this book is the first in a spin-off series, coming into it with prior knowledge of the characters is, at times, significant in understanding parts of the narrative. Some backstory is offered, but there are many references to the development of different characters and their relationships that are hard to follow without having read Price’s other series. However, that being said, the friendship between the two main characters quickly grows on you even if you haven’t read the other books. The pair complemented each other well, especially as they navigated both internal and external turmoils together. I thought Lizzie’s characterization was exceptionally beautiful, particularly in the way that she balances a strong sense of self and fierce independence with a softness and desire for love, wonderfully reminiscent of Austen’s Elizabeth. I did find myself getting so caught up in the character relationships that I forgot about the mystery, which I think is a testament to both the strengths and weaknesses of the plot construction. All in all, the fast-pacing of the novel, combined with its cozy mystery vibes and tendency towards romance, makes for an enjoyable read that will hook you in and keep you guessing right alongside Lizzie and Darcy.

I discovered the Jane Austen Murder Mystery series earlier in the year. I will always give a Jane Austen inspired series a shot and the cover art for this series is gorgeous so I immediately purchased them. I was so happy to see a continuation of Lizzie and Darcy because Pride and Premeditation was my favorite of the series.

In Want of Suspect picks up shortly after the end of P & P and provides Lizzie and Darcy a new case to solve. This new story starts with a fire that quickly leads to a murder in broad daylight. As Lizzie and Darcy work to solve the mystery of the warehouse fire they quickly realize that there is something even more nefarious afoot. They must work quickly to figure out who started the fire, who murdered one of the informants all while navigating their personal relationships.

In Want of Suspect introduces us to a whole new host of characters including an adorably ill behaved dog. I really enjoyed this one, I love the Dashwood sister cameos and the hint of a potential new Austen inspired story with the brief introduction to another infamous Austen heroine. This was a fast paced, action packed, banter filled fun time. I hope the author continues this series!

Thank you to Harper Collins and NetGalley for my copy; all opinions are my own. In Want of Suspect will be available 11/12!
