Thank you to Netgalley and Familius for an advanced read copy of this book.

123 Counting on Community is a sweet little book that tells the story of a community working together to revive their park. This book could be utilized in a preschool or kindergarten classroom in many ways. The book incorporates counting and number identification on each page and could be used as a math literacy resource. It would also make a great Earth Day read or supplement a social studies unit on communities.

As a special education teacher, I love the diversity represented in this book. The author and illustrator did a great job of representing all people and how when we work together, we can make a big difference in our community.

Starting with 1 messy park in need of care, on to the clean-up, and making compost, making and painting vegetable garden boxes to planting, all the way to 10 with a nice park and everyone sorting trash. WELL DONE!
The illustrations by Cory Reid are clear, imaginative, colorful, and informative and FUN.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or your local public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Familius via NetGalley. Thank you!

This was so cute! Colorful, easy to read, short and cute. I think I would have enjoyed maybe a little rhyming? It would make it flow a little better and more fun for the kiddos.

"123 Counting on Community" by Annemarie Riley Guertin

This is a board book that incorporates learning numbers with a diverse community coming together to clean up a park. The book only included one sentence per page so is very simplistic but it works. The art is colorful and interesting with the numbered subjects being easy to find. I love a book that will make readers aware of these important topics at a young age.

VERY simple story that will only intrigue the youngest of children. The illustrations were rather boring as well.
I was an interesting topic but more could have been done with it than what was presented in this book.

Night short book on the community making changes to a local park. I thought it would a bit cooler if the book showed ten ways to help in the community not just in this one place but it was still helpful and very nice!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.

While this book is entertaining, it also teaches young children about the skill of community building. This is a very important skill for children to learn from an early age. I also thought the illustrations were very well done. I Definitely recommend this book!

I really liked the concept of this book. It’s original and I haven’t seen a book like this. I think a more true beginning would be helpful, even just one or two sentences to introduce the book and the story more. It would bring about a more cohesive storyline.

This book has a lot of potential if you enjoy being interactive with your young readers. The book itself is short, with cute pictures, but shows ways a community can work together to do something positive. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

What a wonderful and colourful picture book. From the standpoint of an educator, this book has so much potential to be used in a classroom. It could be used to teach counting, to meet curriculum expectations and teach how to take care of the environment and spaces around us, how to take responsibility in the community, how to work in a team, and so much more. I can already picture reading this in my class and bringing what we learn in the lesson to the schoolyard. I also appreciated the inclusive aspect of this book in its illustrations and characters. Well done to the author and illustrator!

I think community as more broad then this just taking care of a park. I feel this could be titled more specifically. I feel also the garden could be elsewhere. I felt the park became too cluttered. Great idea and things to teach though

An adorable picture book with a strong message about the power community has to bring about change for the betterment of everyone. A great book for community, classroom, and school libraries. Colorful images allow for spot the difference challenges as well as discussion about what we as individuals can do to improve the world around us. A great little civics lesson wrapped up in a tiny book!

A cute counting book that follows some kids cleaning up their community park. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the review copy.

Very cute, easy counting book for young children. I enjoyed the message of taking care of your community. Some of the counting pages would be difficult for young children - for example, the cups of lemonade at the end are a little difficult to see. But overall a nice children's book.
