A little disappointing. We'd hoped it would have been one of those really funny books given the title etc, and in line with some other kids books like "Who's In the Loo?" which blend stuff about cleanliness or bathroom kind of things that kids can learn with a fun and funny rhyming story.

Unfortunately this one fell a bit flat - some of the ideas were good, and the illustrations of monsters fun, but the rhythm of the rhymes was off many times - the verse doesn't scan well for re-reading or sing-song quality that you want if using verse not prose. And it didn't really have any overall story to it or even build-up to a fun or interesting finish. It just kinds of listed stuff with some so-so rhymes and meter or rhythm that stumbled too often (needed to edit some lines for better scanning and rhythm). In the end, a very good idea, with mediocre execution.

Little Miss's review: I don't really get it, it was just a list of things not to do. I know it's supposed to be funny, but it just seemed to be more telling you what to do or not do rather than a story. It was plain. I wouldn't read it again.

What a cute children's book! The author found a fun way to share ways to remind kiddos to mind their manners. Also, just general common sense life tips. My daughter said, "that was fun", and I totally agree. I will look for more books by Strong.

The premise and advice are timely and hilarious. My boys were all in on reading this one. In the words of my 9 year old, “eh. It was okay.” I have to agree. The rhymes didn’t flow the best and some words were misspelled or misused. The illustrations were very well done.

When I saw this title I knew I had to grab this book haha. I call my daughter a fart monster all the time so I thought she would enjoy a book about farting. She was laughing the whole time we were reading it. It teaches the reading some good lessons hahah. The artwork was perfect at depicting what was happening.
We would recommend this one to everyone.

I loved the idea, and the tips are so silly you can't help laughing. Rhymes sounded forced here and there but the monster drawings are super funny. My daughter can't have enough of this.

My 5 year old son had quite the laugh at the graphics, and reminded me that the yellow snow is pee LOL. This was a quick, funny read - enjoyable for children, and husbands lol.

Eric Strong's "Don't Fart in the Shower" is a delightful romp through the everyday absurdities of life, offering readers a refreshing blend of humor, wit, and unexpected wisdom. With each anecdote and observation, Strong proves himself to be a keen observer of human folly, unafraid to tackle taboo topics with a healthy dose of irreverence and charm.

At its core, "Don't Fart in the Shower" is a celebration of the mundane, transforming the banalities of everyday existence into moments of laughter and reflection. Strong's humor is equal parts silly and insightful, reminding readers that even the most ordinary experiences can be ripe with comedic potential if viewed through the right lens.

One of the book's greatest strengths lies in its relatability. Whether recounting the perils of public transportation or the awkwardness of family gatherings, Strong's anecdotes strike a chord with readers of all ages and backgrounds. Through his candid observations, he invites us to laugh at ourselves and the absurdities of modern life, fostering a sense of camaraderie and connection in the process.

Moreover, "Don't Fart in the Shower" is impeccably paced, with each chapter offering a fresh perspective on the quirks and foibles of human behavior. Strong's writing is sharp and witty, with punchlines that land with precision and timing. From laugh-out-loud moments to more subtle humor, there's something here to tickle every reader's funny bone.

That being said, some readers may find themselves wishing for a bit more depth and substance amidst the laughter. While Strong's humor is undeniably entertaining, there are moments when the narrative feels somewhat superficial, lacking the emotional resonance that could elevate it from mere comedy to something more profound.

In conclusion, "Don't Fart in the Shower" is a rollicking ride through the absurdities of everyday life, guaranteed to leave readers chuckling long after the final page is turned. Eric Strong's irreverent humor and keen observations make for an entertaining read that is as thought-provoking as it is laugh-out-loud funny. Whether you're in need of a pick-me-up or simply looking for a good laugh, this book is sure to hit the spot.

A delightfully illustrated book with great advice such as, "Don't fart in the shower." The remaining advice deals with such items as belching, peeing in the pool, and picking your nose. The glorious monsters show the consequences of not following civility, and the lessons are duly noted though, for this oldster, the lessons are too late learned. Oh, if only I had such wise monsters to counsel me in my misbehaved youth.

This book was hilarious but I don't understand why it's only for boys when it's exactly the kind of thing my daughter loves. Girls can be funny and gross too! And I don't really think you need to have corporal punishment in a book that's meant to be just silly. The pictures were great

My four year old son thought this book was hilarious. He wanted me to read it over and over again. I thought the advice was cute. A lot of it my son didn’t fully understand, but still enjoyed it. The illustrations are colorful and engaging. A fun, silly book to read with your kids.

This is a 5-7 year olds dream book. Super silly, sometimes icky, lack of manners will get kiddos laughing on every page. It may also have them putting their undies on their heads afterwards. 🤪

This caught Oliver's eye and he had to read it. I wasn't sure how I felt about it because you never know with these. Thankfully, it was cute and full of rhymes!! He has been working on rhyming at school, and been asking me about words all day today. It was like kismet that this was on a read now.

There's really not a lot of pages that take place in the shower. There's several types of monsters and all kinds of scenarios. There is a lot of advice that we learn throughout the book. The illustrations are really good and vivid. My son was so amazed! I loved how there were only two sentences per page because he never became overwhelmed. It was the perfect book for rhyming with a lot of advice to be the perfect gentleman!

I think this is a book that I will have to add to his library. He had a lot of fun with it and it was really cute!

Many thanks to BooksGoSocial and Netgalley for an e-arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Don't Fart in the Shower is a children's book that provides advice to young boys. I'm not really sure why it's focused solely on boys, because all of the advice could apply to any child. The illustrations were bright, colorful, and engaging, but I didn't think the text had a quality rhyming scheme. I was disappointed to read things like "Girls would never think that briefs are toys. This information is strictly for boys!" Does the author not realize that all kids act the same? My daughter thinks it is absolutely hysterical to put undies on her head. More worrisome than that was the page that said: "Don't wear your brand-new socks outside. Your mom will yell; she might tan your hide." Kids don't need books that discuss their parents hitting them.

Such an interesting take on manners for a kids book. While it personally seemed a little vulgar for how simplistic it was meant to be, I think my kids would probably like it and find it funny.

I was immediately drawn to this book because of the title. The title is something that has been said in my house on numerous occasions. Raising two boys close in age results in attempting to teach the manners on a daily basis. I have said almost every single phrase in this book, and while most of the advice is things I have told my kids, I love the added humor and rhyming of the solutions or alternatives. I think this book is a lot of fun, and my boys laughed out loud at some of the scenarios. I am absolutely adding this to my list of giftable books and you should, too!

Learn some tips on what not to do from a very experienced monster.

I wanted to love this book as the illustrations and cover were vibrant and eye catching.

Unfortunately I felt it sent the wrong kind of message. It felt as though it implied only little boys have bad habits and little girls would never do any of those kinds of things.

I know it’s supposed to be a silly and fun book but children are so impressionable.

This book is a perfect stocking filler for any little boys you might know. A colourful picture book with little monsters. Each one giving handy little tips to become the perfect little gent. Highly amusing but with an underlying moral.
