I loved the story, the world building and meeting the different characters. I felt completely immersed in the story and couldn't stop reading it.
Robert Kirkian, Marquess of Landon, was thought to be lost at sea. He has returned to England and is bent on revenge. He is sure his cousin Willard is responsible for the fire on the ship and his disappearance. The story takes place at a house party that Robert, Willard, and Phoebe Dawson, Willard’s fiancé are attending. What sweeter revenge than to seduce Willard’s betrothed? This is a well-written entertaining story with anger, revenge, distrust, secrets, and a passionate romance. The characters are great. Willard deserves a comeuppance worth of the vile villain he is. Robert is determined to give it to him. Phoebe has a secret, and is a caring person. There is fantastic chemistry between Robert and Phoebe. While they are working toward their happy ending, their friends, Aram and Beatrice, are keeping company, and may just find theirs.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it.
This was a well-written, entertaining book. It was steamy, fun and held my interest. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.
Make Mine a Marquess is an easy to read historical romance. I enjoyed the revenge plot and the writing style. This book does have cheating, and while I hated the guy she cheated on, I still feel like cheating is cheating no matter how you look at it. This did end up affecting my rating of this book. I probably would have enjoyed it more if it wasn’t a factor. However, since it was, my rating will stay at 3 stars. Otherwise, I found this book enjoyable and easy to read. I look forward to reading the second book in this series.
I really enjoyed Robert and Phoebe's story! It was fun watching these two navigate their way to their HEA!
I really enjoyed reading this book by one of my favorite authors. Ms Gabrielle writes a fabulous and entertaining story which held my interest from first chapter. The characters were fully developed with thoughts and feelings of their own. Even though this is part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone.
Robert Kirkian, the Marquis of Landon has finally returned to London to get revenge. He survived his ordeal in which people thought him dead. His wants to get even for the wrong done to him from his cousin. What better way to seduce his cousin's betrothed, Miss Phoebe Dawson.
Phoebe's family wants to get a title for the family to better their circumstances. She is rich from her father's business and expects to honor them by marrying.
Robert and Phoebe are two non perfect people who find love and the chemistry is sizzling off the page. I like how she trusted him with her secrets and vise versus. The only thing I was upset with the cousin Willard and what happened to him at the end. Overall, this was easy and satisfied happy ending.
I appreciate Net Galley for this ARC title in which I gave an honest review.
Miss Phoebe Dawson knows better than to fall for a rake’s charms. She assumes she never will again by securing a passionless match with Lord Willard. Her world is shaken up when the Marquess of Landon shows her that her life doesn’t have to be without passion. Little does she know, he has his own motives for approaching her.
This was a great historical romance book! The relationship was sweet and fraught with tension. Sometimes, historical romance storylines are all the man doing exciting things while the woman waits to see him again. I liked that Phoebe and Robert each had other things they were doing besides thinking about each other. It was easy to understand with little title and court dynamics in it. I would recommend this book to those new to the historical romance genre.
This was my first historical romance and I enjoyed it. I liked that the mmc Robert is biracial. Phoebe is such a fun character, and the relationship between them. I would definitely read the others in this series.
Phoebe has sworn not to fall for rogues or liars. She fools herself with a safe bet by an engagement to a man who means little to her. Enter Robert Landon, lost Marquess who has been missing for 5 years. Sparks fly between Robert and Phoebe, but Robert also wants revenge for his near death. The depth of the characters is exquisite. The plot is well developed. The ties to charity and helping others adds further meaning to this delightful story.
Make Mine A Marquess by Tina Gabrielle is the third book of her Daring Ladies Series and what a charming love story it was!
I fell in love with Tina Gabrielle when I read How Not To Marry A Duke and this book wasn't an exception. ❤️
Robert Kirkian, Marquess of Landon, suffered shipwreck and everyone thought he's dead.
Surprisingly he isn't... and now he's ready to get his deserved revenge because it seems that Lord Willard, his cousin, has everything to do with it.
Returning to his Manor he meets this stunning blonde goddess. As he finds out that Miss Phoebe Dawson is the fiancee of his cousin, Lord Willard, he has the perfect plan. What could be a better revenge than seducing the beauty?
Well... little did Lord Landon expect to fall for her...
Ooooh my... Lord Landon stole my heart right from the beginning!
His whole personality gave me goosebumps in a good way. I loved it every time he met Phoebe... and awwww! How she reacted to him?!
Loved this chemistry! 🥰💥
That she's the fiancee of his cousin... but she knows that Lord Willard isn't the perfect man for her, and that she wanted to see more from the world. Being adventurous etc.
I really liked Phoebe!
OMG, and the things Phoebe went through in the past made my heart squeeze. 😥
But it was so good to see how she learned from her past. Learned to grow up and to be a strong and confident woman.
I loved the storyline and the drama of this beautiful love story.
Who could resist a good historical romance?!
Definitely not me!
Awwwwww! I love them and I loved Make Mine A Marquess.
Thanks a lot to Tina Gabrielle and Entangled Publishing for this ARC via NetGalley.
This is my honest review in my own words.
I can't wait for more! ❤️🙏
This was an entertaining read. Lady Georgiana was someone who always pushed things too far and caused her elder brother, Hal, all types of worry. Gabriel, the Duke of Northriding is looking for a bride, he needs an heir. He had a very bad reputation. Gabriel had a troubled background. Georgie and Gabriel had an instant attraction but they both had reasons for not marrying each other. I enjoyed the way, their relationship developed and the ending was very satisfying. There are a few surprises that added interest. I received a copy and have voluntarily been it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I don't know if I will ever get over this book, the betrayal, the behind-the-scenes romance; it will be stuck in my brain for a while.
Make Mine A Marquess was a thrill to read. I was supposed to be buddy-reading it but ended up finishing a week early as I couldn't put it down. The scandal of the missing Marquess coming back from the dead and falling for his attempted murderer's fiance made it a very different take on the typical historical romance. Gabrielle gave us the spice but also the genuine connection between Robert and Phoebe.
For me, there isn't much to say about this book other than I would rate it near perfection.
**Thank you Entangled Publishing for giving me an advanced copy to review.**
This was an ARC and one of my favorite genres so I was very excited to read this. I really liked Phoebe and how she took care of her family. I also loved the tension between Phoebe and Landon. I won't give any spoilers. Just going to say I loved it.
Sweet with the dreaded dishonesty trope but Phoebe’s passions for her charity work made this worth it! Lord Willard that snake deserved his end, and I’m glad Landon finally opened up and realized how much of a fool he was for not communicating well with Phoebe.
All in all, a sweet and cozy historical romance!
I received an eARC from Entangled Publishing and this was my first historical romance and I must say I am into it! The male lead (Landon) is biracial (English/Arab) and I really appreciate bringing bits of both cultures into the story. The female lead (Phoebe) has sworn off love and truly cares about helping unwed mothers and their children.
The characters felt well developed, it was easy to like the leads and easy to dislike the "villian". There were blush-worthy interactions between Phoebe and Landon and I truly enjoyed their dynamic.
All in all a cute romance that could be read in a couple afternoons.
I enjoyed this read, which featured both intrigue and romance. I did think the resolution was a bit rushed, but I enjoyed the HEA and the building of the main relationship. I’m interested in reading the other books in the series now too!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This one is a great historical romance with revenge, love, and spice 🌶️!!
He was presumed dead after the ship he was on burned and sank.
She is betrothed to his cousin out of family duty.
When he shows back up after 5 years, he has a bone to pick with his cousin. And taking her from him seems like the perfect start to revenge.
Things get a little 🔥🔥
If you enjoy historical fiction, or have wanted to try it, add this one to your TBR!!
Everyone thought that the Robert Kirkian, Marquess of Landon, was lost at sea and died...but, he defied all odds and survived. Returning to London, Robert is on a mission to reclaim his title, his property, and his lands from the villainous snake who tried to have him killed: his own cousin! When Robert meets his cousin’s charming betrothed, Miss Phoebe Dawson, a plan is hatched.
This is the third book in the Daring Ladies series, however each book is a stand alone. I enjoyed the development of this revenge plot, even if it was a bit predictable. The main characters and secondary friends were likable and the author's writing style is engaging. I particularly like how she infuses her Middle Eastern culture into her stories. 3.5 stars rounded to 4.
Tropes: Presumed Dead, Revenge, Cousin’s Suitor, House Party/Forced Proximity
Steam: 2.5
* I read an ARC and this is my honest review.
This was a sweeping story of betrayal and revenge. Phoebe is engaged to Willard, whose cousin is lord Landon, who has been missing for 5 years. He returns home, having survived a firey shipwreck, and upends everything.
Landon and Phoebe meet and she is immediately enthralled in I'm, but struggles with fulfilling her duty and marrying Willard. Landon is completely taken by Phoebe and questions his motives of using her for revenge when he begins to have very real feelings for her.
Betrayal, loyalty and love are called into question when the truth comes to light, and Phoebe must decide what to do upon learning Landon's initial intentions.
I started The Daring Ladies series last year and I really enjoyed it. Each book featured a strong POC lead instead of the overwhelming sea of whiteness found in most literature. This may have been my least favorite in the collection, but it wasn't terrible. I absolutely adored the cover, despite the content. The rich magenta really makes the cover pop. It's so pretty and it's what initially drew me in from the catalog, even before I knew for which series it belonged. Make Mine a Marquess was a romance with high chemistry, although it was unfortunate that the heroine was engaged to the hero's cousin for a majority of the book. I get forbidden relationships, but how can you ignore the giant engagement ring every time you lock lips?
This book took me nearly 10 days to finish, which isn't my usual pace for my favorite subgenre. Make Mine A Marquess dragged on and it took forever for our couple to finally get together. The heroine kept hemming and hawing despite the fact that she showed more favor to her betrothed cousin than to her own fiancee. Phoebe and Landon were well suited, but their final reunion was so drawn out. I did like the hero's resilience and the heroine's bravado, yet they denied their true feelings for a large portion of the book. Minor criticism aside, I do like the author's writing style and the characterizations she creates in her books. I"m just a wee bit miffed their wedding bells didn't ring far sooner.
Make Mine a Marquess was a cute historical romance, but it didn't quite meet the bar set by its predecessors. I adore this author and hope to read more of her books in the future. Perhaps if there weren't so many barriers to true love, I would have enjoyed myself more. Thankfully, we did get some primo romance with galloping horseback rides through the forest and secret trysts in the lake on the long, long road to our happy ending. In the future if you Make Mine a Marquess, make him available!
