Landon is a marquess returned from the dead. Phoebe is an heiress, a dutiful daughter with an ambitious mama dangling for a title, and is engaged to his cousin, the baron Warrick who had his eye on the marquessate.
Landon is out for revenge and seducing his cousin’s fiancée is part of the plan, Warrick is out for Phoebe’s dowry, and Phoebe is stuck between a rock and a hard place. On the one hand she’s determined to honour her engagement to Warrick - without love there’s no risk for heartbreak and her mother will get a title - and on the other hand Landon brings her back to life with his charm and attention - their attraction is instant and undeniable, but he’s a rogue, a recipe for disaster… isn’t he?

An interesting premise? Definitely!
But it had a few weaknesses:
Warrick, the villain, is barely interested in his cause, giving Landon free reign to search the house and seduce his girl. Granted, he’s an arrogant narcissistic pig, but still, I would have liked a bit more villainy.
At the end of the story Landon makes a 10000 pound grand gesture to win his woman. It’s a beautiful gesture, but how does one make such a gesture when the evil cousin drained the family coffers?
I also would have enjoyed a bit more background on Landon. There’s bits and pieces, but I missed a complete picture.
And finally, something about the writing: on several occasions the author had me doing a double take, wondering if I had turned the page or not, with entire paragraphs repeating themselves.

This story in itself is compelling and infused with oriental flavour since Landon is of mixed descent. The romance between Phoebe and Landon is nicely done, with a dash of steam, and I could easily see how these two got lost in each other. The sideline romance between her cousin and his best friend is cute, and the house party setting doesn’t outshine the story.
So I would say, it was a nice read, but it had potential to be a great one.

Phoebe is set to be married to a Lord of high social standing, just as her parents wanted. She is determined to not let the sudden reappearance of the Marquess, the cousin to her betrothed, change her plans in any way. Her resistance begins to dwindle, though, as she spends more time with the Marquess, and she begins to feel discontent with her future marriage plans. On top of that, there seem to be some secrets that could threaten to bring everything crumbling down.

This was an enjoyable read! I think it was a little stagnant in the middle portion (the characters had chemistry and feelings early on and Phoebe refused to give into them for a while, so there was a long period of having a crush/sexual tension but no movement in the relationship). The plot was fun but very predictable. Overall, I would recommend to someone looking for a spicy, tension-filled, easy read.

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this ebook and this is my freely given opinion.

This is a murder conspiracy-revenge story with a historical romance snugging up to it. It is book 3 of the series but can absolutely be read as a stand alone story.

After many years of being presumed to be lost and likely dead at sea, Robert Kirkian, the Marquess of Landon returns to take back the reins of his estate, and wreak revenge on his cousin, and heir, Lord Willard.

Robert was caught up in a sudden fire on the ship he was on, while at sea. He was knocked out by the falling mast, and luckily survived, finding himself adrift at sea and then landing ashore. He was traumatized, injured, and lost his memory, but through the care of the the family that found him, he recovered and regained his identity and memories, and eventually planned his revenge against the man he knows to be responsible for his plight, and the lives of others lost on that ship - his cousin. Lord Willard, the cousin and heir to Robert, is a high-living spendthrift, who took control of Robert's estate and proceeded to act as the heir presumptive, and leech funds to support his lavish lifestyle. But this was not enough for Willard, and in his greed, he contracts marriage to the highly dowered daughter of a rich coal merchant, who's wife hopes to advance themselves socially by wedding their beautiful daughter, Phoebe, to the baron, and possible future-Marquess, Willard.

Phoebe is willing to be a dutiful daughter, and marry as her parents wish. She has no delusions about romance, having been duped and having her heart broken years before. She is willing to enter a marriage of convenience, with open eyes in the hopes of forging an agreeable partnership and hopefully a shared desire for family and an agreeable marriage. However, she is in the crosshairs of Robert, as part of his revenge plans on his cousin. He beguiles Phoebe and tries to attract and lure her away from Willard, by developing a friendship with her, and sowing doubts about Willard.

Phoebe is loyal to her family and betrothal, despite her own doubts that develop as she witnesses Willards spendthrift ways and lack of care and regard for the estates, family, and herself. Despite her attraction and liking of Robert, she continues to plan to honor her betrothal, and distrusts her own desires, seeing how they have misled her in the past, and has a strong desire and instinct to protect her own heart.

Robert's plan is a double edged sword though, as he develops feelings for Phoebe, but for his plan to go through, she and her family would be ruined by their association with a murderer, or her heart will be broken as she discovers that she was used by Robert in his plan for revenge.

This story rather hinges on Phoebe being loyal to her promise to wed Willard, and being hard-hearted about a planned marriage and future, and not willing to risk romance and heart break again. But if I had difficulty in buying this as she is supposed to be clear headed about why she is entering this betrothal, but then willfully forges ahead with it, despite what she observes in Willard that would be counter to what she is hoping in her future marriage - including his disrespect of her; seeing her more as her dowry and a source of funds than anything else, his poor management of the estate, and his spendthrift ways including wagering and indulging in his selfish pleasures. Even if she did not fall for Robert, and even if she did want to deliver a title to her parent, she is seeing too many danger signs - and this includes her cousin and best friend doubting her choices, and her own parents were not blind to the flaws of the baron, and appeared to love Phoebe also, so why not consider other options (including the back-from-the-dead and more highly titled Robert????)

What I really enjoyed about the story was the ethnic touches as Robert is the son of an English lord and his Middle Eastern wife, and he embraces his culture and shares it with Phoebe. I love a bit of colour and spice mixed in with my historical romances. Also, I loved some of the secondary characters, especially including Landon's friend Aram Adian, whose family saved Landon, and Phoebe's cousin, Beatrice. They formed a secondary, background romance and I wish there was more about them as well.

This was an ARC. Thank you Entangled Publishing, Tina Gabrielle and NetGalley for the copy in exchange for my honest review.

As a fan of other regency era historical romance books such as Julia Quinn's Bridgerton series, I enjoyed the book.

I liked that the author included 2 middle eastern characters and brought some diversity in a realistic way to a genre that doesn't often have that. The author also did a great job making the main characters flaws realistic and relatable. I found myself rooting for Phoebe and Landon as well as getting frustrated with them at points.

However, to me, the ending felt rushed and could have easily used a few more chapters.

"Make Mine a Marquess" is book 3 in the Daring Ladies series written by Tina Gabriell. It is a historical romance that follows the story of the presumed deceased Marquess of Landon (Robert), that after finds out that is cousin plotted his demise with the help of his fiancé, Miss Phoebe Dawson. Allegedly...

Robert approaches Phoebe and they feel an undeniable attraction by one other, that only grows as Landon decides to go throw with his revenge and seduce her and steal her away from his cousin. But things are not as simple as them seem and not even are the feelings growing between the two. Will this romance have a happy ever after all? Will Landon have his revenge? And Phoebe stop being a pawn of others plans?

I've read a lot of books of this genre but this one of my first one by this author and i really liked it she delivers a well written and passionate romance plot with the perfect amount of spice and love.

If you like plots with romance revenge trope with lots of intrigue and angst, this novel is definitely for you.

I received an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley in return for an honest review.

The synopsis sounded so good – I like a good revenge story. I liked this story, did not love it. Landon and Phoebe are both good characters. I really liked Phoebe and her charity. I do wish more had been talked about her charity work. This is a story that would be appreciated by someone who doesn’t like too much angst, there is some but not that bad. The ending was fantastic!

Make Mine a Marquess is really fun, and it has one of my favorite historical romance tropes, aristocrat comes back from the dead hellbent on revenge.

Robert Kirkian, Marquess of Landon supposedly died five years ago when the ship he was on caught fire. Now he's back and determined to seek revenge on the cousin he blames for the fire, Lord Willard. He needs to prove that Willard was behind his near death and he wants to seduce Willard's fiance away from him.

Phoebe Dawson is the fiance in question. She doesn't have any strong feelings for her fiance, but her ambitious parents want a title for her, so they're pushing the match. She had her heart broken when she was 16, so she's not looking for a love match.

Of course, all kinds of inconvenient feelings get in the way and there's plenty of drama. Landon and Phoebe are great characters, and I was rooting for them. They've both had past trauma (of very different kinds) that informs their current actions. Of course, Landon is keeping a big secret from Phoebe, but the joke's on him when he actually falls for her.

I should mention that there's technically infidelity in this book, so if that's a deal breaker for you, this may not work for you. But there are multiple mitigating circumstances: Phoebe is only engaged to Willard because her parents want her to marry him, Willard is only marrying her for her money, and Willard is an awful person.

If you're a fan of the revenge quest trope, this one is definitely for you.

This book is delicious from beginning to end.

Miss Phoebe Dawson has been burned by love in the past, so at the age of 21, she’s ready for a marriage of convenience. She will get that title her mother so desperately seeks; her husband-to-be will get the infusion of cash that he needs; and her heart need not be involved.

But when Robert Kirkian, Marquess of Landon, turns up at his country estate in the middle of a house party five years after he was presumed lost at sea, Phoebe’s plans and those of her betrothed, the cousin set to inherit Robert’s title and fortune, get derailed.

As it turns out, Robert’s ship went down under dubious circumstances, and he is bound and determined to enact his own revenge and to bring the accountable parties to justice. A substantial part of his plan involves spending time with his cousin’s bride-to-be.

She’s supposed to be a means to an end. He is a welcome distraction from the inanities of the house party. Neither is looking for love, but we all know how these things go.

The banter. The chemistry. The playfulness. The care. The tenderness.

They’re good for each other, and I’m so glad they find their happy ever after.

I received an advance copy of the book from Entangled Publishing and NetGalley. All review opinions are my own.

I found the book to be slow to start, but picked up in the middle and was great at the end. It had a few unexpected ideas for the time period that one would not consider in a book, but now I realize did likely happen. There are a few steamy parts especially towards the second half of the book, but the first half has a lot of build up and tension. This makes it a very interesting and intriguing read. I did enjoy the historical aspect.

Robert, the Marquess of Landon, is bent on revenge. He suspects his cousin of trying to murder him, but he needs proof. The perfect revenge plot is hatched and in the beginning, I thought involving Miss Dawson, an innocent young woman in all this, was not a good idea. Robert's character was charming, cunning and mostly likeable, although as the story continued, I found myself wishing he would confide in Phoebe. Keeping secrets is never a good thing and Robert finds that out the hard way. Phoebe's character was the good dutiful daughter through most of the book until Robert shows her there is another way. Then we begin to see a little bit more of a backbone for her. Robert's seduction of Phoebe is a slow-burn at first, until feelings take over his strategy into a passionate sex scene.

The plots moves along at a good pace. I though the ending seemed a bit rushed in that Phoebe should forgive him so easily. I wanted to see him grovel a little more for lying to her. There is heat in this book and I look forward to reading Ms. Gabrielle's next story.

This is the third book in Tina Gabrielle’s Daring Ladies series but can be read as a standalone. This is the first book I’ve read by the author and didn’t feel as though I needed to read the first two books.
Robert Kirkian, Marquess of Landon has returned after surviving an attempt to kill him at sea by his villainous cousin Lord Willard. But to get his vengeance he will need to prove his cousins guilt and Landon will stop at nothing to get it – even if he has to seduce his cousin’s fiancée – the lovely Miss Phoebe Dawson.
Phoebe has been let down in her past and is wary of love – which is why she agreed to marry Willard arranged by her parents. She has no intention of risking her heart. But Landon makes her feel alive again and gains her trust. But when Phoebe learns his real motives will she be able to forgive him?
This was in general an enjoyable story. Both leads were likeable and well matched. I liked the secondary romance as well between Phoebe’s cousin and Landon’s friend.
I received an advance review copy from Netgalley and I am leaving this review voluntarily. 3.5 stars rounded up.

This book took me by surprise. I love a good revenge plot, it's always angst 100% and this book didn't disappoint. A very, quick, easy and fun read.

Pros: I love the way it was written. I loved the plot and seeing the relationship blossom between Lord Landon and Miss Phoebe.

Con: He should've groveled more. The ending was a little rushed, the book could've been a little longer. I wish the epilogue was longer too.

3.75 I love this authors cozy and romance books and was wondering if we would get a third in this series so I was happy to see it on NetGalley . I really like how one of the main characters not this series is half Middle eastern being half Egyptian myself, this time it is our hero. Our heroine is just lovely, I really liked that she was so passionate about the charity and her cause in general and her friendship with her cousin was really nice. Our hero, knew that he what he wanted revenge but evolved to also wanting to be part of Phoebe's life. It was nice that he took interest in her cause not just her taking interest in him. Things I didn't like, it was a little repetitive in descriptions and then Him using her as plot of his revenge. It doesn't really make sense when people (according to the book) marry in like 3 months. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

"Make Mine a Marquess" book three in the "Daring Ladies" series blends romance, revenge and high tension chemistry into a fast-paced engaging read.

I love an angst filled Regency Romance and the plot of this book delivered that and a whole lot more. I binged this book cover to cover in an evening and when I was finished my only complaint was that it was over too soon!

I think Historical Romance Readers are really going to love this one!

Thank you Tina Gabrielle, Net Galley and Entangled Publishing For providing me with an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

Started off reminding me of a Jude or Judith historical fiction. I was loving it, couldn't put it down, them somewhere it got a little slow or long. I enjoyed it. However, I expected MORE from the way it started off. If you're a fan of historical fiction, you will enjoy the book. Thank you to #netgalley and #entanlged for the #ARC.

Robert is believed to be lost at sea. His cousin is controlling his lands, houses and plans to marry Phoebe, a heiress to have even more money. Robert returns home and interrupts his cousins house party.

This was a good story although it was a bit repetitive.

I saw the cover and decided I needed to read it. I was not disappointed. We start out with Robert Kirkian Marquess of Landon. He's very mysterious, cunning, determined, responsible and caring. Landon is trying to get justice for things that happened in his past. He seeks out Miss Phoebe Dawson, his cousin's betrothed. Phoebe is intelligent, empathetic, resourceful, and down to earth. Phoebe is trying to forget her past and play the role of the dutiful daughter her parents believe her to be. Their attraction is undeniable. Watching as these two characters navigate the many obstacles in their lives was both entertaining and heartbreaking. I couldn't put it down, I needed to see how the story played out. I can't wait to see what else this author has to offer.
